I paid 9$ for two sides ribs and only got one rib . Mind you the other few times I've gotten one side for 4$and they always have given me two ribs. Honestly I was only going to give this place 2 stars but Kat the manager gave us such amazing customer service that I am adding 2 stars more just for her! First off we went in for the ribs, we hadn't eaten all day so we were starving. I got two orders of the rib plates and 1 kalbi plate and a few Musubis. It was about $78 so the ribs were so dry and they had absolutely no meat so very disappointing and the thing that we were disappointed about as well is the rice was not cooked so it was hard either from not being cooked correctly or long enough or because it was left sitting out and it dried out and turned hard. The rice in the musubi was also very hard I hurt my tooth cause one of the hard rice got stuck in between my tooth and gum. Also the spicy chicken musubi was very dry and flavorless. I just think for the prices I'd expect better quality Hawaiian food. Honestly I will go back only because Kat noticed we were not too happy with our food and she comped one of our meals and the musubi. She then brought out 2 fresh musubi with rice that had just been cooked, I felt like she did not have to do all that since we didn't complain but she was very sweet and professional. Now for the Mac it was insanely salty it did have good flavor and potential to be the best Mac but because of the extreme amount of salt, it was horrible. The kalbi was brought out raw. I'm not a fan of well done red meats but I'm also not a fan of raw meat. A good Med Rare would've been amazing but the kalbi was cold in the middle because of how raw it was. All in all we were very disappointed with the food but we felt like they do deserve a second chance because of how much Kat cares about the quality of the food. There's is genuine room for growth and Kat demonstrated shes attentive and is willing to fix and help her team grow. My family and I are looking forward to seeing how Kat makes the quality of the food better. One last thing the ambiance was great. I loved that their playlist was 2000's R&B and so many more hit songs that just gives you a nostalgic feel. They also play some newer songs and that's also nice. As soon as you walk through the door, the restaurant has that chilled island vibe (love the music) with great services! Every time we go, at least half the patrons are local Pacific Islanders! That's all I need to know that we are in for a treat!!! Now the food! All I can say is O.M.G.!!!!!!!! Their BBQ sear on that meat is out of this world!!!!!! We tried Matiki Island, ( Eastern Ave) after seeing a video and reading the reviews. We ordered the Big Kahuna, $36. It was delicious. Huge portions, great taste. It came with pork, beef and chicken plus green salad, macaroni salad and a generous portion of rice. We ate all we could and had to get two takeout boxes. We definitely will return. We liked all the meats but my wife loved the pork and my favorite was the chicken. The salad dressing and dipping sauce were excellent There was enough there for 3 adults or a couple with 2 or 3 children. I would highly recommend it. read more

They are slow, and probably under staffed. We too saw the TikTok ad. Thought this would be a nice place to try. We were wrong. After ordering, the lady at the register told us it will be a 15 to 20 minute wait. Well the place was full, but no one was eating. Food started coming out for a few to go orders, but slowly. After 30 minutes, we still noticed no one was eating in the place. After an hour wait, I decided to ask for my money back. I wish I would have checked the Yelps before I came here. It was mentioned that it can be an hour wait, after ordering. This place really sucks. Didn't even have an explanation of what was taking so long. Also I heard people complaining about no ice for the soda fountain soda's. The restaurant said they ran out. I give this restaurant less than a year to survive. I had this when I went to LA a couple years ago and am glad they came to my city. I finally got a chance to check the place out and boyyyy they did not disappoint. I got the beef ribs and my wife got the short rib plate and there was plenty of food for a family of 4. The potatoes in the Mac salad were a little different, it wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. Workers there were nice and friendly. Saw the viral TikTok's so we had to give it a try being is that they just opened a new location by the house .. unfortunately I didn't have the same hyped experience everyone else does .. upon arrival the workers were super nonchalant and looked unhappy to be at work.. they didn't even greet us we had to engage the conversation because their cellphone texting was more important. Not a good first impression .. we ordered the half chicken half steak plate as well as the dinosaur bone ribs .. Their visuals on social media is A+ but the flavors were bland and super subpar .. Food came out cold or like it was a microwaved batch of meat that was cooked earlier in the day and wasn't sold so they re used it .. the macaroni salad had what tasted to be diced potatoes in it .. never had that style before and definitely wasn't a fan .. the flavors tasted off from a traditional Hawaiian plate. I so wanted this place to be a hit but it was super underwhelming.
