Literally, could not eat it without using a knife- and with more effort than you should on a tortilla. Both the chimichanga and burrito are dry, which seems to be a common theme. It was a Saturday night, and the restaurant was more empty than full, but the kitchen was horribly slow. I would have ordered another margarita, if I had been asked. Buyer Beware!!!! They advertise a "happy hour" menu but fail to let customers know only certain drinks are on the "happy hour" menu. FALSE ADVERTISING. Nothing is marked on the menu to indicate only certain drinks are discounted. IF you get fajitas, they will charge you extra if you get corn and flower tortillas. I don't like writing bad reviews but I have to. Went to Mattito's with my son tonight and had an absolutely horrible experience. Apparently, there was a live band playing there who had the music turned up to 11. We couldn't hear ourselves talk or hear the server. We literally had to shout our order which the server thought was funny for some reason. Of course, our order came out wrong cause he couldn't hear us. We couldn't get out of the place fast enough. We went to the Flower Mound location SPECIFICALLY because this is the first place to relaunch the tradition. I've seen Mattito's in Dallas and didn't realize it was the same one until we had lunch here and came home. This building used to be Black Walnut Cafe, so I was really sad to see it gone, as it was one of my friend's and I's favorite place to go and enjoy our time together. It was nice to see the vibe was changed for more of a Tex Mex feel. The tiles were changed, which was a nice vibe, but the rest of the restaurant that they did keep, kept the classy vibe as well. Once we got there, they were not too busy, but let us know that they were short staffed so we might have to wait a little. (It seemed as there were one bartender, one host, two servers, and I think one manager as he was wearing a green shirt) The host seemed a little lost or new. I didn't want my party that were older to wait in the door way awkward, so I asked him if there was a way to sit down and wait. We were okay with waiting. He said let me ask, and then after a while, he said okay. We helped them moved the tables together. They got us our water and chips and salsa pretty fast after being seated. Our server apologized that we might have to wait, and we told him that was fine. I was pleasantly surprised that they gave us salsa ONE PER PERSON. That was very nice of them. Our meals were pretty good, there was a misunderstanding with our order the server thinking two of us were sharing a meal, but it was okay because the amount of food was a lot. We ended up not needing that extra order. On top of that, the server had given us two topping plates and tortillas. That was very nice. I'll start by saying my favorite Mattito's is downtown Dallas. We stopped by the Flower Mound location on Friday 1/26 on the way home from the airport. Fernanda was an amazing waitress. We came back on Sunday specifically to sit in her section, unfortunately she wasn't working. Things went downhill from there. We sat at the bar and Erica, the bartender had an attitude. We had to ask for cutlery, chips, and hot sauce. Our nachos sat in the pass out until the cheese was congealed and ice cold. The manager, Savanna could give a rat backend about her employees behavior or the food being served to her customers. Needless to say, we will never return to this location and will actively encourage others to avoid it at all costs!! read more

My hubby and I went to celebrate my birthday. We both ordered tacos. I got the 3 taco plate. It included fish taco, a pork carnitas taco and a brisket taco. The fish was kind of muddy tasting so I assume it was tilapia. The pork carnitas was delicious and the brisket was ok, but a bit dry. My husband got two crispy chicken tacos. Sadly the chicken was so dry he didn't even want to finish eating the second one. I doubt we'll be back. It was a disappointing meal. My child and I stopped at Mattito's in Flowrr Mound at 12:59 pm on January Saturday 25th 2025 (literally right now) we walking in to a super dusty restaurant the owners can see the footage of me running my hand on the host booth. It was a desolated and empty restaurant with no one to greet us at the door. After a few minutes a lady with a chef coat that read manager walked a host to the host booth teaching her how to operate telephones, nor the manager or the host greeted us. The host proceeded to ask me how could she help me? I asked for a table for 2, then she replied it was going to be a 40 to 40 minute wait. I asked her why since the restaurant was completely empty, then she replied our servers are handling some large parties, large parties take priority over anything. After said statement we walked out. Our family LOVES this spot. We visit typically at least once a week. Sunday Brunch is awesome and everyone gets something they love. Eddie is our go to server but all servers are great.
