I had a wonderful experience at Mattito's last night! I recommend if going on a Friday or Saturday make a reservation. My meal, Quesadilla with fajita Chicken and l add spinich. The quesadilla was quite fluffy with Chicken and it was very taste! My server Gabby was on point! I truly enjoy Mattito's - I was happy to hear it was moving closer to home. While I wouldn't say it's "authentic" as so many people seek out (but don't actually want), I would say the quality is there. I love the fresh options on the menu! The Pollo con Salsa de Maize is delicious and doesn't leave you miserably full (unless you eat entirely too much chips and salsa!). The Lite Fajitas are veggie-aplenty! Absolutely delightful and fresh. The blue margarita (Rumbarita) is not my thing, but some may love it. It tasted a bit like what I imagine rubbing alcohol may taste like... but it could have been an off day ... because, regardless, it's so popular?! Their other drinks are great! And for those who don't drink alcohol, the Dr Pepper is great :) I don't like the way it's oriented on the lot with parking around back, but if I'm honest, who doesn't need a bit of a walk after filling themselves with some delicious Tex-Mex? We always have loved mattito's. We went for brunch buffet in New Year's Day 2026. Everything was dry, very little seasoning. We were there for an hour no food was turned over just left in its container with burners on. Waffles were like thick cardboard. Even if the food was fresh it still wouldn't have beeen good. We've had better experiences at ponchos. The check for 2 brunches 2 drinks and queso was 75 dollars. We can order two amazing carbs asadas at uncle Julie's. We never got a visit from the manager nor did the server ask if everything was ok. This was so disappointing because we have had good experiences in the Dallas location but it's been a while. Started off with Top Shelf Margarita on the rocks. Nice that it used reposado tequila which is not usual in most restaurants. My husband had the blue Rumbarita. They have a limit of two for good reason as it includes everclear. On to guacamole for the appetizer. It was okay but they should invest in table side for better quality. Then I had the Green Chili Shrimp Tacos. Very fresh with the right amount of kick from the poblano peppers. The rice was unexpected white rice instead the "Mexican rice" that others serve. Very nice with a butter flavor. It was served with black beans. My husband had the Baja Shrimp. Bacon wrapped and fried with Monterey Jack cheese. Very juicy 6 large jumbo shrimp. Tried to go in to eat, no one greeted us. Eventually the hostess came over with the most unhappy look and completely ignored us and other people waiting. One of the gentleman approached her to ask if the big empty table was for his party and she replied with an attitude. read more

The stars go to the friendliest of the staff and the chips and salsa., nothing else merits a star. Our entrees lacked flavor, and the tortilla on the burrito was tough as rubber. Literally, could not eat it without using a knife- and with more effort than you should on a tortilla. Both the chimichanga and burrito are dry, which seems to be a common theme. It was a Saturday night, and the restaurant was more empty than full, but the kitchen was horribly slow. I would have ordered another margarita, if I had been asked. I don't like writing bad reviews but I have to. Went to Mattito's with my son tonight and had an absolutely horrible experience. Apparently, there was a live band playing there who had the music turned up to 11. We couldn't hear ourselves talk or hear the server. We literally had to shout our order which the server thought was funny for some reason. Of course, our order came out wrong cause he couldn't hear us. We couldn't get out of the place fast enough. We went to the Flower Mound location SPECIFICALLY because this is the first place to relaunch the tradition. I've seen Mattito's in Dallas and didn't realize it was the same one until we had lunch here and came home. This building used to be Black Walnut Cafe, so I was really sad to see it gone, as it was one of my friend's and I's favorite place to go and enjoy our time together. It was nice to see the vibe was changed for more of a Tex Mex feel. The tiles were changed, which was a nice vibe, but the rest of the restaurant that they did keep, kept the classy vibe as well. Once we got there, they were not too busy, but let us know that they were short staffed so we might have to wait a little. (It seemed as there were one bartender, one host, two servers, and I think one manager as he was wearing a green shirt) The host seemed a little lost or new. I didn't want my party that were older to wait in the door way awkward, so I asked him if there was a way to sit down and wait. We were okay with waiting. He said let me ask, and then after a while, he said okay. We helped them moved the tables together. They got us our water and chips and salsa pretty fast after being seated. Our server apologized that we might have to wait, and we told him that was fine. I was pleasantly surprised that they gave us salsa ONE PER PERSON. That was very nice of them. Our meals were pretty good, there was a misunderstanding with our order the server thinking two of us were sharing a meal, but it was okay because the amount of food was a lot. We ended up not needing that extra order. On top of that, the server had given us two topping plates and tortillas. That was very nice. I'll start by saying my favorite Mattito's is downtown Dallas. We stopped by the Flower Mound location on Friday 1/26 on the way home from the airport. Fernanda was an amazing waitress. We came back on Sunday specifically to sit in her section, unfortunately she wasn't working. Things went downhill from there. We sat at the bar and Erica, the bartender had an attitude. We had to ask for cutlery, chips, and hot sauce. Our nachos sat in the pass out until the cheese was congealed and ice cold. The manager, Savanna could give a rat backend about her employees behavior or the food being served to her customers. My hubby and I went to celebrate my birthday. We both ordered tacos. I got the 3 taco plate. It included fish taco, a pork carnitas taco and a brisket taco. The fish was kind of muddy tasting so I assume it was tilapia. The pork carnitas was delicious and the brisket was ok, but a bit dry. My husband got two crispy chicken tacos. Sadly the chicken was so dry he didn't even want to finish eating the second one. I doubt we'll be back. It was a disappointing meal. When I mentioned how dry the chicken taco was, our server said something about how they chop it up and walked away. Again, very disappointing. read more
