I love Maugus ! Plain and simple. I come from NYC to visit my daughter and her family. And whenever I am in town I look forward to visiting the Maugus family. We either all go together or just grandparents and grandkids. Either way , it is a joy. Maria , one of the family owners , is there to greet you warmly and makes sure that everything is right as you requested. The comfort food is meant to be straightforward and delicious and it is. Randomly found myself in the Boston burbs needing a good breakfast and Yelp reviews steered me in the right direction. A small diner full of regulars, friendly waitresses, and a pretty tasty menu. Eggs and hot italian sausage were downright delicious, coffee was just ok, prices reasonable, plenty of parking in the back. This place must have enough business already, because they're certainly not interested in mine. It's your basic diner, a throwback to the '50s kind of thing. I walked in with my daughter and stood in what appeared to be the greeting area. There should have been a host, but there wasn't. I stood there awkwardly for a while. Waitresses walked by but didn't say anything and avoided eye contact. There were empty tables. After a bit, I walked over to the counter/cash register area to find out what I was supposed to do, and whether it was a seat-yourself situation. Before I could inquire, an older gentleman -- the proprietor or manager? -- gruffly told me that I have to wait for a table at the front. We left. I won't be back. read more

This place is disgusting. I had the eggs benedicts, and my friend had an omelet with ham and onions, I believe. The eggs benedict looked okay, but the hollandaise sauce was gross. It was solid and had a gritty taste. The food left a bad after taste. My friend's omelet was no more then me scrambling a bunch of eggs at home and throwing some ham and onions. Let's just start there.Reading the reviews apparently you either love this place or hate this place.I hate it.My boyfriend and I had gone to Maugus on Marathon Monday,it was very quiet and we were waited it on immediately.I ordered a very simple breakfast of two eggs over easy bacon home fries and toast and coffee,my bf ordered the western omelette.so I've had some pretty bad breakfast before but when I say it was inedible,that's an understatement.It looked like it had sat on the plate to the point where it almost grew mold ,The bacon sat under the heat lamp for hours and the eggs were runny.My boyfriend took 2 bites of his omelet and spit it into his napkin.neither one of us ate our meal,left all of our food on the plate and our waitress didn't ask us if there was anything wrong with our food.She didn't ask because she knows it was horrendous.Magus doesn't care about being a quality establishment they just care about making money.I wouldn't feed this food to my dog read more

My better half and I were looking for a different place for breakfast and decided to give the Maugus Restaurant a shot. I got eggs with corned beef hash and my GF got a western omelet. Both came with tasty homefries and were both solid breakfasts. The coffee is also good, the staff very friendly and prices quite reasonable. We will definitely be back! read more

Service is awful. So many families came in and sat after us and received food before us. We waited 35 minutes for our waitress to realize and refill our coffee and food has not come out and it has been over 45 minutes for breakfast food! This place is awesome! I come here all the time with my friends for brunch! The pancakes and omelets are to die for. I don't think I've ever had pancakes quite as good as the ones here. This place is also WICKED CHEAP. I usually leave only paying 5-10 dollars and I am happy and stuffed. read more

Having been a college student for the four years I've lived in the area, I've never had to search for somewhere to eat a good, inexpensive breakfast. Maugus was recommended to me by a friend as having 'the best breakfast in Wellesley', and it was exactly what I was looking for. went with my family on Sunday to have a family breakfast in maugus , took more than 10 mins until the waitress came to take our beverage order and give us menus , after another 15 mins she finally took our order , after more than 30 mins we got our 1st omelet that was warm after another 10 mins we got another 2 omelets that were also warm and after another 10 mins we got our final dish pancakes that was cold so by this time we received all the food but nothing hot all the warm became cold , while waiting we asked many times for coffee refills but in vain .. worst restaurant experience .. never going back read more
