BREAKFAST Someone recently told me about Maui Coffee Roasters and how they have some of the best Eggs Benedicts on island, so I had to check it out. I love Bloody Marys, but unfortunately they do not serve alcohol. They do have a great selection of Hot Teas and Espressos. I ended up drinking water. My buddy ordered a Ginger Tea that he enjoyed. They have three choices for their Eggs Benedict; Turkey, Ham, and Salmon. I went with the Salmon ($11) . This was one of the best Eggs Benedicts I have ever had. The salmon had great flavor, their muffin is great, there is a generous amount of sauce, and there is even tomato on it. My only minor complaints are; the egg is hard and I wish it automatically came with capers. Next time I will add those on, even if they charge extra. I also ordered their Crab Melt Bagel ($9.50), and it was also incredible. There was a nice amount of meat on there, the flavor was great, sprouts added some character, and the bagel itself was perfect with its crunch. I went a second time already and this time I learned you can choose which type of bagel you want. Service was good, but just go in when you are not crunched for time. One guy left the place all mad that it took 20 minutes to get his drink. They are busy, as they are a popular place that obviously takes pride in their quality so they are not going to just rush out your food and drinks. Maui Coffee Roasters does not offer any Kama'aina discount, but with their already reasonable prices, there is no need. Brunch hours are 7 am until 5 pm Monday through Saturday, and Sundays 8 am until 3 pm. This place came out of nowhere for me, and might end up being my favorite breakfast spot on island. Awesome place to get coffee and breakfast and it is just a few minutes from the airport. Many locals were waiting for it to open when we arrived. This was also the BEST breakfast we had on the island during our stay, which is somewhat sad since we also had some expensive breakfast buffets at resorts! I generally don't expect too much of the food items from small cafes, but the breakfast burrito was very fresh and yummy. My "Huevos Bagel" was amazing and comes with egg, tomato, onions, and jalapenos My husband's biggest regret from our trip was not buying a bag of their coffee before we left! (But it looks like you can also buy their beans online!) I really liked my pumpkin spice latte here. Local coffee grown within miles, roasted steps of the shop, brewed within a week of roasting, and served with respect, knowledge, love, and a healthy dose of fun sums up the Maui a Coffee Roasters experience! No specialty coffee snobbery here! We happened upon this place while exploring the Kahului area, en route to Up Country. Thanks to many local Yelpers and Reno Yelp friends and coffee lovers Paul, Dale, Michelle and Erica, I know we were in the right place! My norm is to try a pour over and an espresso of the same coffee to taste the two expressions. When I asked the staff was kind enough to explain that they did not serve Hawaiian coffee as espresso because it would simply be too expensive for the guest, and she pointed me toward the Ka'u Estate single brew as an interesting choice. They use a Chemex here, and it makes a great tea like brew that lets the flavors wash over your palate. The Ka'u was so good, with notes of fruit that tasted like the island to me, with a little hibiscus and floral quality too. I really enjoyed it and came back a few days later for more! Maybe even more surprising than the coffee were the donuts! Apparently they get them fresh daily from a local company that typically sells at farmers markets. The flavors were really interesting, and we just couldn't get enough. On the first visit we had an "Everything but the Bagel" donut with caramelized onion, poppy seed, and cream cheese icing! Sounds crazy but was crazy good! Next time we had a S'Mores with Bruleed marshmallow, graham cracker dust and chocolate icing. These donuts weren't too sweet and the balance was awesome! They also sell their coffee retail and I wanted to take some home, but missed the roasting date by a week. The staff was so awesome and understanding of my hesitation too! I mean, it's hard to be fresher than less than a week old, but I knew Id be unable to drink it in time, and the lady at the counter totally commiserated with me on that! She even offered to call me if they roasted some while I was there! This is a must visit for anyone looking for Hawaiian coffee on Maui. It's location is perfect for those traveling from Kihei or Lahaina toward Up Country or the Road to Hana. Do yourself a favor and stop by! read more

TLDR: Weak coffee, unimpressive latte. Lackluster cold brew. Good service. Ordered a nitro cold brew and latte, and were impressed with neither. The latte's milk is steamed too hot, causing the micro foam to denature, causing a burned milk taste. The latte had too much milk, completely over powering the coffee. There are no foam in the nitro, the Starbucks nitro is much better. If this is the "best coffee in Maui", then I feel bad for the people on this great island. read more

I fell in love with Maui Coffee Roasters and would come here over and over and over again forever if I possibly could. This one of the bookmarks that I've had while doing some Yelpsearch for where the best coffee in Maui is and MCR did not disappoint. Just in their cold brew selection alone earned it the five stars in my book, but to top on the fact that they have nitro cold brew?! Yeah, that already sealed the deal for me. The line moves quickly and the cashiers and baristas are super friendly. Each time I come, all the tables are filled with just locals, people doing business, homework, hanging out, you name it, they're there. But it's a great vibe inside and everybody is super sweet. Nobody minds sharing tables as space is limited, and only two small tables outside the shop. They do have restrooms and take card and cash. The best cold brew was the Red Rooster Cold Brew. Refreshing and had a hint of chocolate, not too acidic and well balanced. No need for sweetener or breve, it was perfect on the rocks. The black tie nitro cold brew was surprisingly sweet. I did like how smooth it was and there wasn't that nasty feeling on your tongue after you drink something like that. I would highly recommend this if you like cold brew for the caffeine but need something were you can't tell that you're having cold brew. I can't rave about the options enough and just the cold brew and nitro selection alone seals the deal here! It's not just a coffee shop. They also have a community board, coffee, their own beans, accessories and mugs for sale that you can shop at. Easy parking and they have great hours. read more

Coffee was excellent and being a coffee lover and brew my own espresso's it is rare I make that statement. The vibe was cool and the staff were always friendly and happy. I also ordered a peanut butter cookie, sadly stale and dry; however, we also ordered a quiche cupcake (more like a popover) and that was too good! Definitely will go back for that delicious treat. I would have given four stars because of the cookie as I had to go back three times (over five minutes) to remind them of the food, then again twice for the quiche). It wasn't too busy and there were three people working the counter...maybe just an off day ;-). Don't let this worry you, definitely a better coffee than the famous "SB" coffee but they too have a good product and awesome business model but this coffee house had them beat. read more

This is quite the local spot for the police force. When we were arriving, police car after car turned into the plaza and went to pick up some brew. I am guessing maybe the new shift was starting. There is inside seating and two tables outside. The coffee we had here was good but pricey. It puts Starbucks to shame lol. Coffee was ok but the teenage barista attitude was poor. She made a mistake on our drink even though we clearly asked for a hot drink and she said she would remake the drink but then forgot about us. 15 minutes later we found she didn't make our drink. The shop wasn't busy so it seemed like simple neglect on her part and then she copped attitude when we asked her if she had made our drink which she forgot. Anyway, we ordered the Thai high iced coffee and a creamy caramel latte. The cold drink was good but the corrected hot drink was not like we had before. Customer service was lacking which really took away from our experience. Used to love this place but this visit has made me question if I want to come back to this place as it seems they do not care about customer satisfaction anymore. Sad because I like supporting local coffee shops and they used to be fantastic. Mocha was great! In kihei for 4 days and wanted to try a different coffee each day. The Yelp address takes you to the warehouse so the sign on the door tells you to go right to the shop ( on the other side of the parking lot) Definitely stop here and try the coffee. read more

The coffee is good and the place is clean. That's the positive about Maui Coffee Roasters. I was hesitant ordering the Acai bowl, not sure if it was because I was the only non-tourist in the cafe or something else but I should have listened to my spider senses. I couldn't believe how poorly made my Acai bowl was made. The acai was not even barely frozen and instead was pure liquid!! It was acai soup!! The banana and blueberries were super skimpy too. So we happened on this place and became obsessed with the coffee we had there. It was so good! They have a cute shop that has breakfast and lunch plates if you're hungry. Review #110 - 2017 While leaving the airport, I needed to grab some caffeine and a small breakfast when I remembered that I had a nearby coffee house bookmarked. I drove around the whole parking lot and found their warehouse so I called to ask if I was at the right place. The young lady on the phone told me I was in the back of the parking lot and needed to drive out towards the street to find the coffee shop. When I got there, the place was pretty busy. Many people were seated inside and outside so I wasn't sure if I wanted to sit in and have my coffee; glad I decided to take my order to go because I ended up cutting it close for 9 AM meeting in Ka'anapali. I ordered a cold brew with macadamia nut flavor along with a side of bacon maple doughnut for my breakfast. The coffee was lightly sweetened so you can still taste the bitterness. However, the mac nut smelled so pleasant that the bitterness didn't really bother me. The bacon maple doughnut was really good, but a little sweet for breakfast. Hands down the best and cheapest black cold brew I've ever had in my entire life. And I'm no coffee noob, I was a barista for 6 yrs myself, I roast and hand grind everything at home. Their cold brew was so smooth, no acidic flavor or over brewed taste. Literally it is the best cold brew I've ever had. 20x better than my $8 Intelligentsia or Stumptown. Maui Roaster has 5 kinds of cold brew, they have nitro on tap also but it's not my thing. If I can give this place 10 stars I would. I cannot recommend this place enough.
