Drove in from NYC and ran over a nail! This place was recommended by a family member to have it fixed. I got there 20 minutes before closing and thought I would just check it out, ask about pricing, etc and go back the next day for the repair. They actually took me right away. Said they could do it then and not have to come back the next day. They were so nice and weren't at all annoyed I came in right before closing. While they fixed my tire for FREE, they offered me free coffee, soda and water!! Yes, it was all FREE!!! Including my tire repair! I asked them if they could please open a store in NYC! I was visiting my brother in Buford, four hundred miles from home. The front brakes on my pickup apparently locked up and refused to disengage. Mavis was the closest place that I could reach. They were friendly and professional. They worked diligently for two days and finally resolved the problem. Turns out the make and model of my vehicle has a history of such problems, that required different fixes. It was not an easy standard procedure type problem. However, they continued to assure me that they would find and fix the problem. And they did! Thanks to all the guys at Mavis for a job well done. read more

Terrible customer service. I called in on Sunday 1/30/22 at 1:30 and they told me they had the tires and time to service my car. When I arrived 15 minutes later I was waiting in the front office for 20 minutes and no one came to help. I went around to the shop to ask for help and David greeted me with a nasty attitude. He said they didn't have time to change 2 tires at 2PM on a Sunday and ran me out of the store. They close at 5PM and didn't look busy at all. Thanks for nothing Mavis Tire. My wife had an accident in her two day old 2023 BMW i4. She destroyed the front right tire and we had it towed to Mavis at 4130 GA 20; Buford, GA 30518. Mavis (Michelle the Manager) had to order the tire (12/15/2022) and informed us that it would be in the next day. They did install the tire and we picked-up the car the next day! A couple of weeks later, we notice the wrong tire (Pirelli P ZERO All Season Plus) was installed on the car, the tire they took off was Pirelli P ZERO PZ4 S (Sport tire vs All Season tire). We return to Mavis and informed the manager (Michelle) that the wrong tire was ordered and installed. She agree to replace the tire but said she could not find the tire on Mavis system and told me it was a Dealer tire (Pirelli PZERO PZ4 S) and she could not get the tire. So, I told the manager I would check with BMW for the exact number for the tire. I went home and did some research and found the tire on Tire Rack website. Went back to Mavis with the exact tire we needed. She checked her computer system and told me she could not get that tire. I told her that I could order it and have it sent to her shop. She said "NO, do not send it here". Then she said "I will have to pro-rate the refund because it has been on the car for a couple of weeks. And, she replied; "because she had RENT to pay, she would have to split the refund in two payments". I questioned that policy, she said "she had to pay out of her own pocket". I left there, went to BMW, they order the tire and we had it installed. I returned the Mavis with the tire they put on the car hoping after all the running around we had to do I would get my refund. She (the Manager) told me she was busy and wait. I waited for about 15 minutes and went back to the counter and told her I needed to go (had to pick-up my grandson) and could I get the refund placed back on the credit card I used. She went in her pocket, pulled out a 20 dollar bill and threw it over the counter toward me and on her little note pad she wrote $314.37 minus $20. What a disrespectful and despicable action for the representative of your company!Now I'm upset, I threw the 20 dollar bill back to her and said this is not the way I paid you for the tire and ask why the attitude, this is not my fault, you guys put the wrong tire on my wife's new car. She would not respond to me at all. Knowing I had to leave to pick-up my grandson, I told her I would just let the company (Mavis) know about this situation. To summarize this, we have paid Mavis $314.37 for the wrong tire, paid BMW $373.77 for the right tire. All the running back and forth to Mavis which she lied initially said she would refund us. We are both senior citizens and retired military serving 20 plus years for our country; station in several state, many tire replacements, but have never experience nothing like this... For all the Vets out there, this Mavis Do Not offer a Military discount. I really thought this was a simple transaction since your corporation taunts "Customers come first with top-quality service!" I wanted to make an online appointment for an oil change and tire rotation but the website did not list pricing. It did show the tire rotation was free with an oil change. So, I went to the store in Buford on Friendship Parkway. I was quoted a price of $89.99 for the oil change and another $19.99 for rotation. I asked about the online price for the rotation and they agreed to comp this. When I picked up my car the price was $30 more than I was quoted. Apparently the quoted price did not include Labor or the oil filter. Hmmm. Not really too happy and probably won't go back if I can't trust a quoted price. read more

On Saturday (11/5/2022) I was referred to go there ( from the lake Lanier store) to have my tire patched and the tech that was there took my keys and had my car for over 6 hrs and never called me to come pick up my car or anything I had to come back up there twice to find out that they said that my tire was unpatchable they could have called me and let me know that hours before, but they waited until close of business to notify me and offered to sell me a single tire for 185$ and that I would have to leave my car there over night and they would work on the vehicle first thing in the morning. I am very dissatisfied of the results as I knew that the tire could be patched. I felt unwanted there and the professionalism in that store was below satisfactory. The next day I went to a tire shop in Gwinnett and my tire was patched within. 10 mins so it was clear to say that the Mavis tire shop did not want to do the procedure because they thought I didn't want to buy tires I would have bought a tire if the patch was done as I needed two new tires. I ended up buying to new tires somewhere else for 185 for the pair so I do not recommend going to this business as they are very unprofessional read more

My 82 year old mother (2002 Buick Lesabre) visited Mavis at 4975 Lanier Islands Parkway on 12/13/22. Her battery had died and AAA came out and jumped the car for her. The AAA tech suggested she go to Mavis. She was afraid and did exactly what AAA suggested. When she arrived she left the car running so she wouldn't be stuck. They gave her a price of roughly $420 and she agreed, work was completed, and she paid. Here's my problem. If Mavis was actually in the business of serving customers, they would have suggested she drive literally next door to Advance Auto Parts where she could have bought a battery and had it installed for $220. Battery is fine, workmanship is fine, and price was agreed upon, but I don't believe this shows that Mavis is willing to put customers first. read more

So this place is a complete boondoggle. Called into their "call center" on Wednesday the call center made me an appt and suggested 265/70/18 tires for my suv, even though I stated to the lady on the phone that we were going to be taking off 265/65/18. I was told by her that the larger tire was the appropriate size for the vehicle. On Thursday morning I drop off my vehicle at 11 am Even though my appt wasn't till 1 pm figured I could get it done early or on time. At 4:30pm when I arrived to pick up vehicle, it was not ready. I waited for three more hours and finally received a call that my truck was ready when I got to mavis tire the four wheel alignment had not been completed. I was told that there was a bolt on my car that was stripped and they had ordered the part and I could come back at any point on Friday and get it done. So I went out to drive away, very first time I turn the wheel I hear a grinding sound. The new taller tires are hitting the fender wells. I immediately go inside the store three guys come out and after two of them spend a few minutes turning the wheel back and forth and driving the vehicle around the building they decide that the tires are in fact too big but that they won't hinder the performance of the tires or damage the fender wells. I maintain that those were the tires suggested to me by their "call center". They say drive it and come back tomorrow and we can make a decision on whether or not to change the tires. So I come back on Friday and order new tires. They are not readily available and that I would have to come back Sunday or Monday and get them installed. So i was told I would receive a call on Saturday whether the tires would have come in or not. No call. Sunday I stop by and talk to Tim a manger he says the tires are in fact in the building and sets me an appt for 1 pm on Monday to get the correct size tires and the four wheel alignment. So I drop my car off on my way into work ,have my business partner drive across town to meet me at the mavis, at 8:30 in the morning on Monday. When I arrive at mavis on Monday afternoon my vehicle has not moved from where it was parked and not only has it not moved but once I get inside I find out that the tires that were supposed to be in store were not the were Mis ordered. So they had ordered yet another set of tires and that's why my car had not been touched. So I sit down and get ready to wait till my car is ready. I get up go out into the garage area and ask one of the technicians what size tote he is about to put on my car and guess what. It's not the correct size it's smaller than I had asked for. I have a small meltdown in the entry of the building with the poor guy at the counter and step outside where my business partner is still waiting. The manager comes out and says he is going to personally go get the proper size tire from his warehouse, at this point I have had my car at this location for a grand total of 17 hours spread over three days. And I still have two hours left to wait to get the appropriate work completed So after twenty hours and yet one more trip back to the mavis location, because they only put 21 pounds of pressure in one of my front tires I am finally home What a fiasco these guys are really bad at the communication it takes to simply just put a set of tires on a two to three hour job read more

The good: Pleasant people, nice waiting area with flat screen TV, free bottled water, soft drinks and coffee. Clean restrooms. The bad: Had an appointment for tire rotation and balance- 9:00 on 7/25. Checked in at 8:45, and proceeded to wait. It was 9:40 before they pulled my vehicle into a bay. Then it took them another 55 minutes to complete the work. Time out- 10:35. This is WITH an appointment! The ugly: I made the appointment the day before, at the suggestion of the guy at the counter. However, while I was waiting for my rotation, a woman came in and was told the wait was 2 1/2 hours. The guy asked if she wanted to make an appointment, and she inquired about how long it would take. He told her it depends on how many customers are ahead of her, and it's best to arrive before they open- to be "first" in line. This was apparently my experience- the appointment time means nothing- they operate on a first come, first served basis. Basically, either be there early, or be prepared to drop off your vehicle. UPDATE: I contacted Kauffman's corporate office, and received a call from the Buford store manager. He apologized for the above issue, and offered me a free oil change. I told him that wasn't necessary, but he insisted. While I doubt I will take him up on his offer, I thought it was gracious of him to offer. read more

Took my 2007 Nissan Murano here for an oil change. Three days later the oil drain plug fell out and all the oil drained out of the engine while driving down the road. By the time the oil light came on there was mojor damage done to the aluminum engine block. Had the car towed back to Mavis and only thing they would do was replace the drain plug and engine oil. I am out thousands of dollars and Mavis refuses to do anything more. read more

Great service from this location. I only needed one tire after having a non-repairable flat. They told me my other tires had plenty of miles left on them. Plus, they put my donut spare in the compartment and neatly stowed away my jack, the handle and other parts. Some places would have just thrown my spare in the trunk and let me put it away. read more

If I could give this location zero stars I would. Just for the matter of communication. I brought my vehicle in for brake pads, they had a special for 79.99 for the service. I brought my vehicle in for the service and they let me know it could be an additional $30 for each rotor if they needed to replace them. Well they called me and told me the price was $244.05 so of course I wanted to understand why it was more than $100 dollars more than what was quoted to me. The store manager lowered the price by $42 but it's still upsetting because even with 2 rotors totaling $60 + $79.99 and what ever the tax was on that it still shouldn't have been that much. I feel like they took advantage of me, and I will never recommend or go to another Kauffman Tires and I will make sure to let everyone I know who needs their car serviced to steer clear. read more

Miguel and Corey are stand up guys at the front, who helped get in a full set of tires that were hard to find with a price match; which is the only reason why I didn't give 2-Stars. I made my husband a 12pm appt for today for a full set tire installation and alignment. He arrived early at 11:50am. The car was taken back and sat on a ramp for 30+ minutes with no work being done. Car was completed at 2:30, 2.5 hours for a full set of tires to be installed and alignment. What is the point of an appointment if they will still take customers who walk-in in front of you? To make matters worse, there was a lack of attention to detail because the alignment was done with the wheel crooked. My husband had to turn back around after leaving to wait an additional 40-minutes for this to be corrected. The personnel is very professional but their business model and workmanship is to be questioned. We understand Saturday is a busy day, hence making an appointment 24 hours in advance. We have a second car in need of a full set of tires next month and I can tell you that I will not be spending my money or wasting my time here. Proceed with caution if you are in dire straights. read more

I am disappointed in the customer service of from the Mavis Buford location. They certainly live up to the myth that car repair people take advantage of young people or women. I sent my teen daughter to have her oil changed and even sent her with a coupon for a standard oil change. Without asking her which type they gave her a synthetic oil change and tried to charge her the much higher cost than a standard oil change. Once confronted they at least backed it down to the cost of a 'blended' oil change. My advice, be very careful what service you are getting before they start the work. We also need some tires but I will not be returning to Mavis again. read more

This shop did a good job for me for several years, but Kauffman rotates their managers and staff around so eventually things go south, and this store is no exception. My last visit for a brake job resulted in me buying new rotors because they insisted that they couldn't be resurfaced. Not because they were too thin (they had never been turned and were less than a year old), but because their shop book told them that it couldn't be done. Later, after spending $250 on new front rotors, they admitted the mistake but I was the one left with an extra set of worthless rotors and a lighter wallet, without even an apology. The next time I called for some work they quoted a price higher than their competitors so I reminded them of their expensive screw-up, but they wouldn't budge on their price. I'm moving on to NTB or another shop for all my suspension work now. read more
