Max's is a huge establishment in the Philippines, so I ask my MIL visiting from the Philippines where she wants to go, I said we have a Max's and she lit up like we were going to a upper level restaurant. In fact I asked her if all the franchises that are here, Max's Jollibee, and Chowking who had the better chicken. She said Max's by far. So we arrive get seated and asked about the family set, which is sort of a pre fixe meal. 3 entrees, chicken, rice and soup. We also ordered a side of Calamari. Food arrives and it is just awful. The lechon kawali was cooked so long it was tougher than jerky. The chicken I believe was a quail or a pigeon not sure or it was the smallest chicken on the planet. The Kare Kare no flavor, the egg drop soup still had dehydrated peas that had not softened. And the pancit was mush. But worse was the calamari, it was so over seasoned that it couldn't be eaten. So needless to say when your tab is $148 not including tip and you are that disenchanted with the quality of the food it is an absolute disappointment. My favorite part of the food was my MIL said the food was terrible and suggested we try at a real Max's in the Philippines. I will add that the bathroom had not been clean, no towels, toilet paper on the ground and what ever was on the floor stuck to your feet so I was sticking to the floor as I walked back into the dining room. For context, the food has never been a hit for us. For the cost, I would expect more. You'll find there are a few other choices in the area for Pinoy food. Their statement or phrase is "Sarap to the bone". After my last few visits that is not evenly remotely close to what our experience was. read more

9/25/2021 Very disappointed and didn't have a chance to try their food and left restaurant with empty stomach. Called ahead and asked if they have a table for two around 11:30am. The server said we can walk-in. I had my lash appointment at 12:30pm, so we called ahead to made sure to have enough time for lunch. We sat at table and waited for 15minute to get server's attention. Came in with a large party yesterday and they were able to accommodate us, the only thing is that it was one of the hottest days in Seattle and they didn't have any AC or fans! Aside from that, the staff was amazing. They made sure our drinks were refilled and that we always had a fresh pitcher of ice water on each table. My family ended up ordering 3 sets of the family packs which consists of rice, Kare-kare, lechon sisig, fried chicken, and other dishes. It was a lot of food and they had it out in about an hour. I don't eat meat so I was glad to see that they had tofu sisig on their menu! For the desserts, we ordered 3 big family sized halo-halos which made me question, is it really worth the $35 each? The answer is yes! If your in a big group, it made about 5-6 cups while the single serving is already $8. We also ordered mango juice and sago gulaman as well to deal with the heat. It was my first time going here, and my friends and I tried the crispy pata, bangus sisig, and kare-kare (not pictured). We also got rice, of course. Everything was delicious! The bangus wasn't served sizzling and nor did it come with an egg (if I remember correctly), but it was sooo good. There were three of us, and the food we got was more than enough (we even had to take leftovers home). We arrived around 2 PM on a Saturday, and it was pretty busy but the wait was not too long (about 10 minutes). Service was good. Ah, also, they had hand sanitizers on each table, which I appreciated. We came in at 7:15 tonight on a whim. I was really excited! I was drawn to three things before even seeing the menu-the cleanliness of their restaurant (SPOTLESS.), their tasteful modern chicken art (which I love) and their story (on the back of the menu. The restaurant's history is really cool!). We ordered the lumpia, Kare-Kare, and the Pancit Palabok. We were going to go with the veggie lumpia, but the waiter said that they only had pork. We went for it anyway. The pork lumpia was perfect-it was savory, chewy and tasty. It came with a red sauce (we think it was the banana paste, but it tasted a little different). It came with a pickled orange which we really enjoyed. The pancit palabok was wonderful as well. While I wasn't the biggest fan of the balance of the flavor of the sauce, I liked everything in it. The lemon juice really made this dish shine. I have never had a pancit before though-next time I am going to explore what sauces to pair it with, and what ones I like. The quality of the food was outstanding, even if this wasn't necessarily for me. The Kare-Kare was great. It was a little sweeter than I anticipated, but the flavors were solid. I would have had this with rice (which we didn't order). The service was great. We were walk-ins with less than an hour to close, and everyone was friendly and we felt welcome even if we were some of the only people there. I would come back! Pass, I hate to say it because every other Max's I've been to has been at least decent. I gave this place another chance. Placed a to go order online. Upon arrival there were 2 tables occupied and no staff to be seen for over 15 mins. My husband ended up going towards the kitchen to finally find the one single person working. Food was not fresh or hot. Taste and quality was 2/5 at best and I'm being generous. After the first bite, we didn't eat the food. The service is also kind of shoddy, but it's because they are too busy for the amount of workers that they have. Also had to hunt down a different waitress because we weren't able to get the attention of our original waitress for a while. The staff aren't able to keep up and that is not their fault. I'm from the Bay Area and have been to Max's there. I was visiting my family in the Seattle area and wanted them to try out Max's. Unfortunately they didn't get that chance. They are severely understaffed. There was no one at the entrance. It took 10 minutes before any of the staff acknowledged us and seated us. The philippines are thousands of islands such surrounded by water, were the languages is being broken down into literal over 600 hundred different variations. So with said I'm wide open to the unexpected the food take some time it's cooked to order and during my visit the dinning room staff not only served you but seated clean the tables and cash you out. Portions are I think for four people not two, and prices are in the mid 20's on average. The seafood rice noodles were disappointing since the photo look bigger than actual , I know the photos are bigger than excepted. But the rest of the meal true to the pictures back to rice noodles it was okay not terrible flavorful but just okay, I don't know what I excepted the noodles to be but maybe firm and more shrimp and chicken. Next sinigang seafood tangy soup aren't my thing but I try it , hot but tangy with veggies and fish, put some in a bowl and hit it with some rice and spices much better. And last crispy pata, this definitely finger food very crunch, spice well , they did have some dipping sauce to go with this, very tasty. Sweet Jalapeño Revenge.... says the server Please check 1st photo from our first visit of the lechon kawali sisig for reference compare from our last visit (you can clearly tell the difference , hence why the title is called the way it is :P). This is our fourth time coming here and I really want to give it a high score , but the fact that every single time we go there's always a problem :(. We really want to love it because this is the cuisine we love to eat back home. I'm not saying it's all bad , but maybe we always have the worst experience whenever we go (what are the odds)? I really hope this won't happen the same here because it's not as bad as it seems. It may just be the people that sometimes works there makes it the worst experience for most . However, in our situation during our meal, the lady brought out our so called "lechon kawali sisig." It was not the same as we ordered and the lady even gave us attitude saying that we ordered lechon kawali and not sisig (I literally pointed and sounded it out too). So she immediately grabbed our food said "okay we will just get it chopped smaller since that's how the sisig is." I'm thinking.... okay ... I mean we don't mind being served the same food if it was done correctly, but boy it was the same dish maybe in little pieces and they added At least minimum of 10 piece of hot jalapeños in there because that's all we could taste and eat. By the time we took two or three bites, we gave up because we're sweating like there's no tomorrow(we love spicy food but not this one) . In comparison, from the last time we ate it was chopped green onions that was put on top not full of jalapeños inside and out. It was quite disappointing really. Our taste buds were practically burned. On top of that, no refills on water until the end, which we even have to ask *big sigh*. Lechon kawali sisig is my favorite , but ever since that day we will never order that again or may not even go back for a while. Their pancit is quite dull and it was so run down that it taste like pancit canton over cooked with added water. I would like to petition for one near Oregon PLEASE! Haha. Honestly a good "go to" place when you miss home. I favor the crispy pata the most- just the most delicious fatty crunchy part that makes my heart happy. Bulalo: you always have to have some type of soup with your meal to wash down the rice and delicious meats you order. I usually like to order this with extra veggies. It's a simple bone broth soup with beef shank and mixture of veggies. Sari sari: I like to get this when I'm craving for pumpkin and a more fish based soup (depending on the protein you get as well). This was a bit dry sadly but the skin was still good Lechon kawali: big chunks of fried pork belly! Crispy skin! Only wish they had some vinegar to go along with the fatty goodness Crab fried rice: decent rendition, a bit more crab would have made it awesome Lumpia shanghai: cant really go wrong with lumpia. Its a crowd pleaser. Bulalo (beef bone marrow soup) i can make a pretty good bulalo. this version is pretty good. Huge marrow bones, fatty and delicious. Nice ginger kick and chock full of veggies! Nice for a cold and rainy day. Halo halo:.definitely a single order is big enough for two. Ube ice cream, leche flan topped and sprinklwd with crispy rice! My sales team & I was looking for something to grab for lunch in the area. I've been wanting to try more Filipino restaurants so I suggested Max's Restaurant. We ordered lumpiang Shanghai, chicken adobo, lechon kawali sisig, & pancit palabok. You can't go to a Filipino restaurant without getting lumpia so of course we had to get it. Unfortunately, it was one of the worse lumpia's we ever had which was really disappointing. Tasted like it was grabbed from a grocery store out of the frozen section. The chicken adobo which is another Filipino staple, was also really bad. If I was missing my mom's cooking, this is not the place to go. The pancit palabok wasn't any better either. Honestly the only thing that was good was the lechon kawali sisig which is pork belly on a sizzling pot. This was the only thing that was good which actually had good flavor. Out of everything we got, this is the only thing that I could recommend. With 1 out of the 4 things that we got being good, I definitely could not recommend this place & the service was not the best either. read more

Service is average but very homey and friendly,most crew speaks tagalaog. Yesterday my Filipino boyfriend took me to Max's Restaurant since we were in the area. And the food was so delicious. I've already had pancit canton and palabok before since my ex husband is Filipino I've already had Filipino dishes. However the whole chicken was amazing! The time we went was early afternoon so we were pretty much alone in the restaurant which was fine because it was peaceful and the music was cover songs that sounded great too. The waitress was always ready to assist I'm not sure if that's just because we were the only ones there or if that's how friendly the service always is. But she made sure we were good. We ordered the whole chicken, rice and palabok. And we finished it off with sharing a Halo Halo. I didn't get to take a pic of the food before we started eating so you can't see the artistic way the dish was prepared and I was so ready for the Halo Halo dessert that I forgot to take that pic too but it was very delicious. I would say it is a bit pricey but not too crazy. Our total ending up being a little over $70 but now a days that's what u can get at some fast food restaurants. So glad we finally got to try here. Authentic Philippine food since 1945 known for their fried chicken! We got the Max's Fried Chicken (half), garlic rice, and Sinigang(Tamarind Soup) w/ Baka(beef) all recommended by the friendly server. She was so nice to suggest which foods and sauces pairs well with what. The skin of the chicken was thin yet crispy unlike the usual crispy fried chicken we're used to and I love the banana ketchup! We saw on Facebook that Max's opened an hour prior, so rushed down for lunch on opening day. We were immediately impressed with the decor and appeal of the interior. My expectations are not high on opening day or opening month for that matter, but Max's was the exception. Our server immediately had us covered on beverages (Buko juice) and our food came out quickly. I ordered the specialty which is their fried chicken. I decided on the half chicken but the server told me it was just a bit more for the whole chicken so went with it. Who doesn't love leftovers? My partner ordered the Sinigang baboy which was very fresh and tasty with lots of veggies and a nice amount of pork. My chicken was tender inside, crispy outside and not greasy with good flavors. Currently sitting in the restaurant. Probably some of the worst service I've received in a long time. The staff was friendly and food was good but the service is painfully slow and not efficient. We were seated before some parties and had to flag someone down to take our order. People who came after us got their food before us. As people are lined up at the door, some of the staff were seen just chatting amongst themselves. There seems to be no urgency whatsoever to get people served and out the door. Bicol Express - this was very disappointing, just some coconut milk tossed with pork belly. Not spicy, poorly presented and unpleasant. If you've ever been to Bicol in the Philippines and you go to Max's in Tukwila, you'll be very disappointed. The ham hock was very bare too.
