Having passed by Maya's regularly for several year I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Located in Casa Linda Shopping Center, Maya's offerers its owner's own take on Mediterranean cuisine. I had the beef plate with a generous serving, delicately seasoned. Tabbouleh and babaganoush were the sides. I also got an order of falafel with tzatziki sauce. One pita was included. My friend had the roast chicken pita and cauliflower rice. Everything was delicious and filling. Service was helpful and patient carefully explaining to menu items to my friend, a first- timer to Mediterranean food. Ambience is basic and non pretentious. I've got mixed reviews... Some good and some bad. Turmeric rice and the various sauces were really good! Salmon was overcooked, falafels were wayyyyyyy too doughy and the turmeric cauliflower felt like it should have been served hot, not lukewarm/cool. Service was mids, I asked if the salmon was farm or wild caught and she just said "I don't know" she didn't offer to find out or anything. No enthusiasm whatsoever Overall, it was pretty underwhelming, but we were hungry so it did its job. I'm not sure I would come back. We enjoyed the fountain view from the small porch. read more

Wow! What a gem in the heart of Dallas. Let me first start off by saying I am vegitarian and gluten free and someone who appreciates quality food over quantity. Well Maya's checked all my boxes and more. The menu was easy to follow and offered delicious options for any person. I ordered the mixed plate appetizer with amazing sauces and fresh veggies. For the main dish I ordered the Mixed salad with Cauliflour steak! It was amazing and the portion was so big I took half home for another meal. My friend with me ordered the Chicken Pita and he loved it as well. As a plus, I met the owner Russell, and I thanked him for making such good healthy food. His eyes lit up and he shared with me how important quality is to his resaurant and how they tried 10 different organic olive oils to make sure the picked the BEST for their menu. His passion for quality and service showed off as he shared some of his methods and ingredients he uses. The ambience to which was given was completely positive; as if it were straight out of a 1990s cookbook of welcoming warmth! The food is beyond imaginable. The salmon was so on point I literally cannot go anywhere else and expect better in the area. Their sauces are so fire I literally have to call my friends that live in the area JUST TO tell them to bring their families here. I hired them to cater my wife's baby shower, and what they delivered wasn't just bad--it was a complete culinary catastrophe. Russell assured me that I "wouldn't be disappointed." Not only was I disappointed, but I'm actively disgusted--and every single one of our guests were, too. Imagine having people at the baby shower whispering that the food is the worst Mediterranean food they've ever eaten. Yeah, that's the level of embarrassment we're talking about. Let me start by saying that the aesthetic of this place is so light and clean! The food is great! The people are so sweet and it is located in a great place! Worst experience ever at the Casa Linda location. First I walked in and there were two customers there, together. As I stood there waiting for someone to help me, no one came but there was two girls in the back at the bar talking to one another. But didn't even acknowledge me. I had to go back and ask if they were open. Secondly I found the menu confusing, it doesn't describe the food well at all. They seem to want you to put it together yourself. I'm sorry to report that I have never had lunch the next day as I can't stop eating this dinner!! I usually love Middle Eastern food so this place was a complete disappointment. Let's see, where to begin? Service was very slow, they got the order wrong, only part of one order came out because the other part was dropped on the floor, which entailed another long wait, and the food was mediocre. The kid's honey chicken was completely dried out to the extent that she could and would not eat it. There was nothing honey about it, it was just a dried out kabob of chicken. Complete waste of money. The wife's shawarma chicken was likewise completely dried out. Bone dry. Desert-like dry. Another complete waste of money. She did not like it at all, and I tried it and agree. The worst I have ever tasted. My falafel was strange. Usually falafels come with the chickpea balls, tahini sauce, and then some greens and tomatoes. These were just the balls and tahini. The balls are air fried which is nice but they lacked crispiness. The pita was from a package and not home baked. The tahini was ok but a bit watery and the portion was tiny, not nearly enough for 4 balls. The hummus had a strong lemon flavor and it was ok but not close to what Izmir serves. I usually like to support locally owned, neighborhood restaurants, but I can't think of a reason why we should return. read more

Since Maya's opened it has become one of our favorite Mediterranean restaurants that we frequent, especially when we want healthy options and it also helps that they are a short drive away from our home. Every time we go the restaurant is always clean, bright and I love the pretty paintings on the wall. I've been trying to stick to a low carb way of eating so on this visit I opted for the chicken shawarma bowl with roasted cauliflower instead of rice, chopped Mediterranean salad and I've topped it with the harisa ranch as well as there lemon garlic sauce which I'm absolutely obsessed with. The chicken shawarma is delicious but to me the star of the show is the roasted cauliflower, it is perfectly seasoned and I love how they let it get just the slightest bit charred on the edges to give it a little bit more depth of flavor. The harisa ranch lends a touch of creaminess and a nice hint of spice but the lemon garlic sauce creates an explosion of flavors and really takes it over the top in the best way possible. Their lemon garlic sauce is not for the faint of heart so if you're a garlic lover like I am, then I highly recommend a drizzle of this on just about anything you have here at Maya's!! read more

There are a lot of other stores and restaurants right next door so there's plenty of parking available. I wasn't sure what to get but the owner was very helpful and described the different options. I wanted something vegetarian so I went with the garlic-roasted eggplant with hummus and harissa sauce. I also decided on the taboulleh and roasted vegetables as my sides. Once I got the food I wished I had ordered appetizers to try some other things because it was so good! The roasted eggplant was amazing! It had such good flavor and it wasn't dry at all. The hummus was also very good and the harissa had a little more heat than I had expected which was fine. The taboulleh was good, I liked the roasted vegetables even more. The service was great, they were very friendly and came out with the food quickly. They also have good COVID restrictions so definitely felt safe. It's nice to have a healthyish, and affordable choice in the neighborhood. My standard is the chicken shawarma with lemon sauce, Israeli salad, and tabouli, which is delicious when it's good, but I have found it to sometimes be inconsistent. The chicken can be so dry that it's literally like wood chips or toothpicks that get lodged between your teeth. Now, whenever I order, I actually ask them to make sure that it's not dry, and it's solved my problem. Interestingly, I mentioned it to the manager, and he said that some people request the crunchy version. Strange, but okayyy. I also have to call out the chicken soup, which is unbeatable on an icy or sick day. I've been to Maya's many times, and like I said the good is very good. Really enjoyed my first experience here for dinner and glad to see a thriving restaurant like this one in the East Dallas neighborhood! To start we enjoyed the sampler platter which included a fresh medley of carrots, pita, Mediterranean vegetable salad, falafel and delicious olive spread and garlic sauce. I enjoyed the falafel being air baked vs fried. For dinner I enjoyed the Mediterranean salad and I added salmon which was cooked perfectly! Brian had the chicken kabobs which looked great and were grilled to perfection. I added the lemon vinaigrette dressing which was also very delicious and paired well with my salad. Overall very good and fresh food with a great variety to suit all palates. The service was also good and the cashier where we ordered was very helpful. She made some really good recommendations!
