I'm really surprised that this spot only gets 3.5 stars. I recently hosted a surprise bday for my mom whose bday falls on Chinese New Year weekend so I made sure to book my tables months in advance. I swung by the restaurant sometime in November 2022 and spoke to Suzanne/Susanne. I let her know exactly what I was looking to do: the day of the event, what time, and how many people. Suzanne then showed me a couple of options. She showed me the backroom which was located upstairs - it's a huge space with plenty of TVs. You can rent out that entire spot if you wanted to throw a big event (like a wedding banquet). My event wasn't that big - I only needed 3-4 tables and I wanted to be inside their main restaurant. Suzanne reserved the corner tables for me. The corner tables gave me leeway to bring in my own decorations. Mind you, what you bring in, you must bring out. To make it easier for the restaurant, Suzanne asked that I finalize my menu at least 48 hours before my event. That was quite convenient - it's one less thing to worry about on the day of. They offer set menus at various prices but I opted for dim sum. I checked in with Suzanne a couple of times prior to my event to confirm that everything was set in place - Suzanne assured me that everything was covered. My mom was totally surprised - everything turned out so well and she enjoyed every minute of her bday luncheon. The food was solid and the service was impeccable. I can't thank Suzanne enough for making my mom's bday a memorable one....and for that, I give this spot 5 stars! read more

First time dining indoors during the pandemic. We dined here back in April after our group of family friends had all been fully vaccinated and reserved one of the private rooms. This is one of the very few restaurants I've been to where they have you sanitize your hand beforehand and actually screen your temperature. Tables are socially distanced from one another. As an additional precaution, my mother also called ahead to ensure all wait staff had been fully vaccinated and proceeded to connect those wait staff who had not been vaccinated by sharing information on where they could get vaccinated (lol, oh mom. The retired public health RN clearly has not retired). To celebrate, we ordered one of the Chinese banquet options. The food here is authentic Hong Kong style cuisine (Asian parent seal-of-approval). Service is always great (though that might be partially due to my mother's charm) and the food always comes out quickly. We even came here late on one Saturday evening towards the last seating and the food came out within ten minutes of us ordering. Now that's efficiency! Authentic Chinese dishes and a kind accommodative waitstaff always on the lookout to assist. My family went here for a ten course wedding reception feast and oohed and aahed at every delivered dish. I came here on the weekend and loved this place. It's huge on the inside and there's multiple floors. For a party of 7 we were seated immediately and that's usually not the case anywhere else. They are definitely on the pricier side however it's worth it. The portions also seem a bit smaller but each bite is delicious. Food comes very fast, service was good. I recommend coming here! First time dining in at a dim sum restaurant since the pandemic! Mayflower is my go-to place for dim sum in the Tri-Valley area. There's usually a bit of a crowd outside of the restaurant before opening, but they move people in pretty quickly and there typically isn't an issue finding parking. Don't be intimidated by the crowds! With COVID-19, they have a hand sanitizer pump in the front that asks people to use before entering and a temperature checker; it wasn't enforced as I thought it'd be upon entering however. Inside, tables are spaced a decent distance from each other, however personally felt a bit too close. Their bathrooms, although it looks fancy, didn't feel very clean unfortunately either (despite me coming in right as they opened) which was slightly concerning especially with the pandemic. There were dried stains all over the toilet and the sink area. The star deduction I left mostly concerns their cleaning/COVID protocols. You place your order writing on their menu with a pen, which makes it convenient since the servers move fast and are very attentive for whenever you finish. They have a great wide variety of dim sum selections; I ordered a significant amount but my personal favorites here at Mayflower are the shrimp rice noodle rolls and the chicken feet. Servings are generous and everything here is incredibly flavorful. I was honestly quite surprised seeing the star rating they had on Yelp! I hosted a baby shower in the upstairs suite. Eason, the manager, was so easy to work with and very flexible. We visited the day before the shower and Eason took the time to walk us to the space and describe the set up. Shirly, our main server, was excellent and she and the staff were very attentive. Every guest commented on how wonderful the staff was. They really made a difference in making the shower well organized and flowing seamlessly! I was so happy at how it all turned out I gave them 30% gratuity. We started out wanting four tables for 40 people. Only 22 could make it given the short notice (three weeks). We reduced to three tables. We also requested a partition so that we can have some privacy. I did my best to capture the set up in the pictures. The restaurant itself is single story, but the building has a suite upstairs that is used as an overflow area when downstairs gets to crowded. Our party was upstairs and in the back corner so we could have the privacy we requested and not be in the flow of foot traffic. The entrance to the second story is on the left side of the building and can't be accessed from inside the restaurant. There are stairs and an elevator. The restaurant opened at 10 a.m. and the shower was scheduled for 11 a.m. Eason allowed us to come in early and decorate. The partition and tables were all set up by 10 a.m. We appreciated this so much as it allowed us to decorate without interruption. During this time, every once in a while Shirly and staff came in to check if we needed anything. They also kindly provided things we needed, e.g., tape, scissors, to go boxes, a knife for the cake. We ordered from the banquet menu and all the food was delicious and presentation was an A+! I received emails and texts from guests who complimented everything including the food, staff, and location. The Mayflower staff really went above and beyond to create such a wonderful special event, which happened to also be a family reunion of sorts with some members seeing each other for the first time in decades. read more

I came in with my family for dinner on a Friday night and we were seated pretty quickly. There wasn't a line and there was a lot of parking. All the workers here are wearing masks and hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance. We ordered braised tofu with seafood, jellyfish with spicy sauce, honey walnut prawns, beef with broccoli (but we substituted the beef for fish), and seafood chow fun. I've been going to a lot of different restaurants in the Dublin/Pleasanton area looking for the best jellyfish. The jellyfish here definitely stumps the one at Koi Palace, but if I'm nitpicking, I wish the dish was colder and was a bit spicier. All the food was delicious though and they gave a lot of squid and scallops in the braised tofu dish and seafood chow fun. The service here was great too! They were super accommodating with all my family's requests. We tend to ask for a lot of extra things while we're eating and they didn't seem annoyed with us at all. My parents also appreciated that they didn't already include the tip in the check so we were able to choose how much we tipped. Bathrooms are also really clean here in comparison to other restaurants. read more

Mayflower was the host site for my cousin's wedding earlier this year and it was a nice reception with what I presumed to be good Chinese banquet food and service. My review is mostly based on the private party venue experience as well as some of their non-meat food options. Venue wise - they have a small private dining area upstairs that sits around 100 (ten per table). They have an AV system with mics but only one screen that sits away from the main table where the new couple and parents would be occupying during the meal. There was also a small area that could be used for a dance floor if desired. For my meal, the service team was nice enough to custom-order me a dish that I could eat: braised tofu with mixed vegetables and a side of steam rice. The dish was fairly straight forward and managed to keep me full once they remembered to bring out the dish. We had to remind the staff to remember to feed the vegan of the house but I'm glad they made the effort to at least deliver me something so I wouldn't starve, even though it took half of the evening before I got to eat. Now I know how the new couple feel lol. Thanks Mayflower for hosting this wedding. Overall, it was not a bad venue and their flexibility and accommodation for me was very much appreciated. Been going here for years. Best dim sum place in Dublin, hands down. It's not the cheapest but I think the quality, consistency, and the service make it worth it. Every time I come here, for either lunch or dinner, their service is IMPECCABLE. Go-to dim sum dishes are baked bbq pork buns with the pineapple bun tops, har gow, cheung fun, egg yolk buns, deep fried taro dumpling puffs, and egg tarts. My god, their egg tarts are heavenly. Their lunch time portions of veggies, pork chops, and dry pan fried noodles are huge. Dinner go-tos are the crab and fish maw soup, honey walnut shrimp, and salt pepper pork chops. For dim sum, go early on weekends or be prepared to wait for a seat. On a rainy Saturday around 1:30pm, I had to wait ~20 min for a table for 2, but I've sometimes had to wait for ~40 min. read more

Everyone in the Bay Area has a go-to spot for dim sum. The Mayflower location in Milpitas was ours, even though quality has definitely dropped in the past few years. After trying this newly refurbished location, I think this is going to be our new standby. The service honestly kind of blew us away. Maybe we got lucky, but we were really surprised by how attentive, friendly, and generally on top of it they were. I don't usually expect much in the way of service at dim sum, especially if the food is good and makes up for it, so this was a noticeable and pleasant surprise. We got our family's standbys (shrimp cheung fun, siu mai, sticky rice in lotus leaf, baked bbq pork buns, fried taro puffs) as well as their crispy noodles with seafood. Did another dim sum take out two weekends in a row. It's nice to see they have decent lunch time traffic for both outdoor dining and take out. Ordering is quite straightforward by phone or in person marking their color printed menu with pictures and written in both Chinese and English languages. I did try calling last weekend but was unsuccessful as the phone line gave me a busy signal for the amount of time I tried. I was told they only have 2 phone lines so it will be a hit or miss especially during busy meal times. So I had to end up going in person that is less efficient because it is a guaranteed 25-30min wait regardless of how small my order is - both times only 4 and 5 dishes. Both times my food was well packed in individual boxes, and I was supplied with eating utensils and my choice of sauces including soy sauce and chili sauce. Food taste was fresh and hot. We haven't been to a Mayflower restaurant in YEARS. We came here with a few family members last weekend and it was a good experience. We ordered a bunch of things to share and most of them were good. The only thing I didn't like was the egg tart. It was a little bland and the crust wasn't flaky enough. I was amazed by the service that we received. The staff was very attentive and came by to refill our tea pot several times even without us asking them. The food also came very quickly; we got everything within 30 minutes of ordering. I was very impressed by the service. They also do not include a mandatory tip like a lot of other dim sum restaurants. PS--Come early, especially on the weekends. You know the East Bay is getting more diverse when Mayflower opens up a restaurant here. The place always seems to be busy whenever I pass by. I came here for a lunch on a week day and it was packed around 6 pm. We had a party of 6. The gave us the menu and as we're looking through it, there were so many options. Maybe even a little overwhelming. We landed on the egg yolk pumpkin, scallops black bean tofu, chinese brocolli, egg plant, baked beef ribs in special house sauce, and beef chow fun. My favorite was probably the egg yolk pumpkin as it was favorful with the nice salty egg coating on very soft pumpkin. The next favorite was probably the baked beef ribs as the meat was tender and the cut had a little bit of fat. The scallops and tofu was just okay and the beef chow fun was basic. The food is decent and like most chinese places, the service is bad. Had to call them over multiple times to ask for stuff. Had to flag them down with my arms and at one point even had to get up out of my seat. If the service isnt like this then its not a true chinese restaurant. Lastly, they have a random horse in their lobby which is odd, but to each their own. The horse is probably the reason why every dish here is so expensive. read more

My friends went here for Dim Sum and then ordered a Dry beef stir fry with rice noodle 亁炒牛河to take home for us. This is a popular and basic Cantonese dish that any Cantonese style restaurant should be good at. However, to my surprise, this take out 亁炒牛河 was tasteless, lack favors and no Wok favor at all and the beef was as not good. I wonder who cooked this tasteless noodle and sold us for $22. A restaurant must be very bad to fail so badly at this dish and this came from the famous Mayflower. We tried to bring it back for refund or exchange but they were closed due to weather so we give up. The food was similarly bad when we ate Chinese New Year Dinner here 4 years ago. read more

I went there for lunch with some friends and all of us were very happy and satisfied with the quality of the food and service. Our teapot was refilled with water, plates were cleared from the table. We ordered the shu mai, xiao long bao, minced beef fried rice, chicken chow mein, kung pao chicken, prawns with greens and we were not disappointed. They have hand sanitizer to use when you get to the counter and again have clean pens to use then place into "dirty" container once you use them. I always have to get 2 orders of the baked custard buns. These are always ones that we fight over who will get the last one. They are nice and soft with a crunchy "pineapple" crust. We ordered Siomai, sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, chicken feet in black bean sauce, roast duck, shrimp dumpling, chow mein in soy sauce and green onion. Everything was so good! Service was also excellent. 5/5 Every time we emptied our dimsum they quickly took it away to leave more room on our table. The gf and I went to Mayflower for lunch the other day. At 130pm, it was a 10 min wait...not bad. While we were waiting, I noticed the place is decorated really nice, highlighted by a beautiful full-size horse adorned in little pieces of mirrors. We ordered a large smattering of everything, and it was totally delicious! The only exception was the shrimp noodle rice roll, I didn't like the shrimp and I found it quite boring without cilantro...too plain. Normally, it's the gf's favorite, so it was quite disappointing.
