    Apple coffee cake

Got a dozen of their muffins, with half being the Chocolate Cream Cheese Muffins and the other half being the Blueberry Muffins. Both were good. Let's be honest here, they're basically cake, lol, disguised as muffins so that people can start their day with eating cake haha, but they sure make for a sinfully tasty way to start the day! The Blueberry Muffins were super moist, and I loved that they used whole and plump blueberries throughout. What's not to like? It's essentially a moist yellow cake packed with sweet blueberries. Yum! The Chocolate Cream Cheese Muffins were just as moist. With that said, they were about 99% chocolate cake and 1% cream cheese, despite its name. With the cream cheese ending up being pretty forgettable, I think these muffins kinda fail to deliver what its name promises, especially because the cream cheese was only added on top, so it felt more like an afterthought than an actual component of the muffin. I think it would've been a lot more impactful if there had been a cream cheese filling inside instead. Just my 2 cents. They also sprinkled some tiny chocolate chips on top, but those didn't really add much either. Still, they were tasty muffins overall. This is a well known bakery among locals, so I encourage you guys to check it out if you're in the area :)

SONIC!!! Derby cake for Jeremy's 3rd birthday!
    Lizzie L.

ADRIANA has outdone herself. She decorated the cutest Sonic cake for Jeremy's third birthday. It put the biggest smile on his face. Cake was dang adorable and dang delicious. Mazzetti's & Adriana the best cake decorator ever.

This place was so yummy! We tried their parfait, cannoli, and a few other desserts. I struggled to stop eating once I started. Everything was light, perfectly sweet, and included a fresh fruit. I would definitely come back and try more desserts Just an fyi the parking was mainly street parking.

    Berry Pie & donuts

I grew up in Pacifica and Mazzetti's was a staple in our home. Focaccia, Dutch Apple pies and the array of donuts were epic! Italian bakery just around the corner from our home. It had been years since I've been back to my home town. I was in the bay for an event and wanted to bring a few items to treat some friends. Thursday 7/9/2026 I made an order on line and received the email via email as per the new protocol these days, order ahead. I called back to see if I could change my pick up time from Saturday 7/11/2026 8:30 am to 8:00 am. I did not get anyone on the phone after (2) attempts , I figured I would have to stay with the original requested time and deal with being a little later to my pre-planned time agreement for the event in SF. Friday 7/10/2026 I was shocked to receive a phone call from Mazzetti's number. The lady called to verify my order, as I was looking at my digital receipt, to confirm my order as listed: Assorted Dozen (Cake/Old Fashion/Raised) Apple Pie (2) total, Dutch Apple Pie (1) Jalapeño Focaccia and a regular Focaccia. I confirmed my order and requested a 8:00 am pick up time, she said yes, just not before 7:00 am. They will be ready @ 8:00 am. I was thankful for her confirming this and thanked her. Saturday 7/11/2026 7:56 cam I arrived at the corner ifOcean Blvd. And Manor Drive. Excited to run inside and see the fresh backed goods! WOW like being in a Time Machine seeing all of the fresh goodies!. I was treated after a short time in line, told my Dutch pie was not ready and would be another 35 minutes and to come back. Bummer, back to 8:30 am as originally planned/requested. Ok deal with it. After a short walk around the old hood, I walked back in and was treated by the same young man still wearing his "hospital" mask as he informed me it would be another hour plus if I wanted my (2) day pre-ordered and called back confirmed, Dutch Apple Pie. I was upset as this particular pie is my husband's favorite. I was told to pick another pie if I didn't want to wait. Wow, top notch customer service, planning, and shaming to a pre-paid customer that lived in this city longer than the young man assisting me. The locals stated the manager wasn't here during the weekend, only week. Not Mitch I could do but grab a berry pie and leave. The Apple pie was ok but not the Dutch and was a miss for my husband who really wanted the pie I order and more than likely the manager that confirmed my order. The (1) star hurts my feelings to give, but the overall end result of what I ordered and was force to settle on was the reason. It may be another 2-3 years before I even decide to go back but would at least expect the manager to call me to make this (1) sta rating change.

I've tasted pastries and cakes here since 2007 but never set foot in this bakery. My co-workers would order pastries and coffee cakes for employee birthdays and they were so delicious. A friend bought their famous Derby cake and that was something else! My husband would always stop here with his walking buddies for coffee and pastries. He told me yesterday that he would take me here for coffee since I've never been. The night before, I went over the different pastries on Yelp so I came prepared. I wanted the Cinnamon Roll AND the Chocolate Eclair. Imagine my surprise to see how big it was so I settled for just one. Coffee is only 65 cents for seniors with free refills. I was having a hard time finishing that delicious huge cinnamon roll! We also bought apple cake and red velvet cakes for our son and cleaning lady. I am making a habit of coming here once a week for coffee and pastries for our morning treat. A delicious way to start your morning!

Tried their cake at a wedding fair and got their sampler box and both me and my fiance who aren't big cake people absolutely loved the cake. Specifically chocolate with raspberry, chocolate with mocha cream, and vanilla with pineapple are winners.

Even at that 97, Dad looked like a young boy so happy with his cake!
    Cat N.

What a wonderful bakery this is! You know it's popular judging from the line even though it's 50 years old. We got dad a birthday cake and I think it's called a density cake because man it must've weighed about 10 pounds. It was so beautiful when we cut into it, it had all different flavors of cake fresh bananas, fresh strawberries it was absolutely delicious. The service was good. I can't speak to the ambience, but people in line were happy. I highly recommend it.

Mazzetti's Bakery is an Italian-American bakery located in Pacifica. It's been about 12 years (they've been around 50!) since I last visited and my palate has definitely changed from old-school baked goods. Just a preference as others enjoyed.. Unfortunately, based on items purchased, I would rate them 3 stars (adding that half star for family): :: Lemon bar - their version has some cloyingly sweet, bright yellow, gel-like substance for the lemon (no natural lemon tang) with streusel on top. Not a fan. :: Apple Coffee Cake - simple cake, with some odd yellow streusel (canned apple glaze) on top and very nutmeg, forward. Something my grandma/grandpa would've enjoyed with their morning coffee...okay sister liked it too! Sadly, wasn't for me. Great price at $10! :: Raisin-cinnamon scone - buttery, melt-in-your-mouth after a 10 sec heat up in the microwave - would get this again :: Maple-glazed old fashioned donut - I prefer the raised donuts (sister got the wrong one *shaking fist*) but it was good. The flavor was actually distinct with crisp edges and soft interior. Their popular items: Derby cake: white cake with strawberries and a chocolate bottom layer with bananas. Unfortunately, they don't sell by the slice so will have to buy a whole cake and share for next time. Focaccia and cannolis seem to be the draw as well. I saw many people grabbing focaccia from the 3 options: cheese, pizza and a pepperoni and buying cannolis by the box: 8 for $36. Overall, great spot for REASONABLY priced cakes, pies, donuts, cupcakes, various cake slices (sans Derby cake), scones, cannolis, focaccia and old-school danishes. Coffee and indoor seating available to enjoy your sweets. Place gets busy in waves...went on a weekend around 215pm and wasn't busy...then a rush of people arrived after. Staff friendly and get the lines moving. Would return to try the Derby Cake, grab some focaccia, and get a cinnamon-raisin scone or donut with some coffee. Street parking only

Black Forest and Pineapple Upside down cake
    Livia K.

These Black Forest cake is a classic and reminds me of my childhood! The pineapple upside down cake was decadent and perfect with vanilla ice cream! We love Mazzetti's for cakes!

I love their cakes! We preordered a derby cake for pickup the next day because I was told by a friend they don't offer slices. Writing is no charge but any other decorations has an extra charge. My husband picked up the cake and thought they were all very nice! Great service. Cake is so amazing. Very light, fruit is fresh. The icing is amazing. The icing wasn't too sweet. So amazing. I didn't even care that we couldn't buy slices of the cake. It's just my husband and I and the cake was gone in a few days. Even a day or so later and the fruit still tasted great. We'll be back next time we're in Pacifica. I think this will be our go to.

Was looking for Sourdough Bread in the area since Rosalind's Bakery sold out. This has been a staple for decades & I remember going here years ago as one of my friends lived nearby. It was the only bakery around. We ended up looking for a large sourdough loaf but they only had baguettes so they said we could order it ahead of time for pickup the next day. The bakers come in at 1am. I ended up getting 2 Macaroons($1.95/ea) & 2 Chocolate covered Macaroons($2.25/ea), a mixed whole Blackberry-Blueberry Pie for $17.95(steal!). They have lots of Valentine's Day chocolates, pastries, cakes & a variety of Focaccia Bread. Such affordable prices too compared to other places which are probably twice as much. The plain Macaroons were so soft & flavorful, not too sweet & the Chocolate dipped Macaroons had a thick dark chocolate coating. Yummy!! There were lots of people & tourists with luggage who were stocking up on goodies.

I loved my first time here but the next few times haven't been as good. The fudge cake and the derby cake aren't consistent. Sometimes it's moist. Other times, it's dry and stale. This time, I got the tiramisu and everyone loved it. I can't say the same about the cranberry muffin I got. The cranberry was unpleasantly sour and I normally love sour. I couldn't finish it.

My family and my husbands family have been getting cakes here for years.. in the last few years they have gotten sloppy with their decorations. The cakes are good but not worth the drive or price if the cakes leave you disappointed... my husband and I get our birthday cakes from here and every time there's something wrong. This year is no different. I just picked up my cake, the color of the words was supposed to be light blue. They gave me dark blue. And the border is completely unattached to the cake!! It's embarrassing having to serve ugly cakes. I've always just let it go bc the cakes are good but I'm done. Every year I give them feedback and it's always "well what do you want us to do" be better! I never ask for a refund just to be more careful. But I'm done. Attached are is of our most recent cakes and today's.

Mazzetti's Bakery Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Mazzetti's Bakery

I e been trying to call for 2 days but I only get a recording! How can I reach someone? I have placed an order but I have a question! Thanks

We do call back missed calls usually within 24 hours. We go off of caller ID so if you call from a private number or no caller ID please send us a yelp message with your info and we will call you.

    Would Mazettis ever consider tiramisu?

Check their website and place a custom order. Tons of options to choose from that aren't offered on a daily basis (like the Napoleon, which I highly recommend).

    Any gluten free pastry?

Currently our coconut macaroons and chocolate dipped coconut macaroons are our only gluten free dessert offering!

    Cake size for 20 people?

    At least a quarter sheet

Helllo- What are the prices for cupcakes?

Per their website, they're $21 for a dozen

How much is half size order of derby cake?

You can go to their website to check prices and sizes offered but a half sheet of derby cake currently runs about $90.

If I bought a derby cake on Sunday, will it still be fresh enough to serve next day on Monday? What's the best way to store it overnight?

Yes! I bought a derby cake for my mother's bday. Picked it up the day before her party, and it was still moist & delicious. We ate derby cake for a week, and it was still good. Hope this helps

Do they sell the derby cake by the slice? Or do I need to order the whole cake?

    Whole cake only.

Do you offer any vegan items?

    Unfortunately no they don't.

Will they be open Sunday 12/26/21?

How much are those round derby cakes sitting in the glass fridge? They're closed today, so I can't call and ask.

    8" are $32.95

Are you able to walk in and pick up a small cake or is it made to order?

They have 8" cakes available in White or chocolate for walk-in pick-ups

In order to add picture on the cake, do you give them the jpg file on a thumb drive or do you email them the file?

    You bring in your photo.

During COVID, what is the best way to remotely place an order for a cake? I have called in the afternoons and mid mornings and have not been able to get anyone on the phone or to leave a message. The VM gives a message about COVID and hangs up.

They never ever answer their phone. It's like the stars need to align to have someone answer the phone. To order a cake, I've had to call multiple times for 3-4 days. What they don't offer in customer service they do make up for in an amazing cake!

    Do they have pies?

Hi Allen they do. The selection of goodies is extensive and just as good as they look. I think they even do special order pies. Check out the website, I'm sure you'll be amazed! Happy eating!

Is their standard derby cake buttercream or whipped cream frosting? I believe the inside filling is whipped cream with strawberries/bananas. Thanks!

I believe it's all whipped cream.

    Do they have macaroons?

    Yes they have.

Are they close for Covid19? Or Open still? Thanks.

They are open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm! I think they close a little earlier on Sunday's though!

Do they have Disney-themed bakery items (e.g. Disney cupcakes/cookies)?

    Yes

Can you order a derby cake without bananas?

Yes, you can suggest with just strawberries. I like bananas by themselves not in baked goods so I never ordered this cake but tried it at a friend's and was impressed how good it was. So unless you have an allergy or hate bananas I suggest trying…

If they're busy, they might forget to call your name and you'll need to go get the food yourself, which is frankly impossible to fathom when you come from San Francisco. But Pacifica is different, y'know?   Anyway.  ------------------------------ First, the turkey sandwich. 5/5 I'm guilty of expecting the meat to be the focus on a sandwich, but in this case the turkey was the filler, which, as a carnivore, is there a better meat filler? Bread, dijon, lettuce, turkey, queso. The dijon did for flavor what the lettuce did for texture, throwing in a twang that kept the sandwich interesting. Its creaminess tag-teamed with the cheese to keep the sandwich in one piece. Great sidekicks. The turkey was... Nothing special. Clean but mundane, for the star of the show was the bread.    Some of you might roll your eyes.  No shiet, Sherlock.  THIS. IS.  A bakery.   Cuz some of you might roll your eyes.  It's just bread.    But this isn't wonder-bread. It's dense. It's got a chew.   The sourdough is minimally sour, hearty, with a thick, hard crust, and made matrimony with the turkey. A lil bit of salt, the slightest tang, tango-ing into a single texture. Those of us who've had an egg sando in Japan understand how the softness of the egg salad made the softness of the bread fundamental. The turkey here wasn't slipping anywhere, though it complimented the meatiness of the bread. This, sandwich, needs, teeth.    I hope you weren't expecting to eat turkey without teeth. Perhaps that's tofurkey you're thinking about.   The crust was hard too. A well supported, almost crunchy hardness, and a far cry from the st-ale pork rind that the free bread in Mont-real would remind you of. I ended up turning the sandwich sideway as if I was enjoying a taco.   The best panera you'll get and a supreme sleeper.   ------------------------------ The second sandwich: 4/5 The sesame studded hoagie, on the other hand, was nothing short of Guns N' Roses. This sub had a KISS of intensity from the seared meats, a KISS of spice from the mayo and capocollo, a KISS of sharpness from the provolone, and a single leaf of romaine to give that little crunch and freshness, so you can tell your mom that you ate your veggies. There's going to be a rock concert in your mouth. With each element in a bit to prove their existence, it ended up being too intense for us. With these all being strong flavors, it's amazing that you could still taste everything. And they work well together. It's just that your taste buds will send an SOS, walking out of a Black Sabbath concert feeling a bit drained, like Spongebob breaking down after working the tables at Squidward's five star restaurant. The crustiness of the roll, the studded texture of the sesame, the meat escarpment slipping out, you will have no more desire for thee. Water. Something to cleanse the mouth.   If you're one of those among us who gets sweet emotions eating curry without naan or rice, this could be your bad medicine.   * Keep it simple, stupid.

I REALLY wanted to try the hot dog danish. I got up early & walked there so I could work off some calories for the 4th of July weekend lol. Got there around 7:03 (they open at 7) Looked in the case & didn't see the hot dog danish so I asked the young lady if they're out & she didn't know what I was talking about. Apparently she had no idea about the hot dog danish - so I stepped outside and called my husband and look on their IG to see if I was in the right place. Both confirmed I was - then I walked back in and she looked confused still & said they will probably be out later at lunch with the pizza - so I told her I'd walk back around 11-12. So I'm on my phone 3 hours later around 10am and I see the Hot Dog danish is sold out. extremely bummed over here. I literally could not stop talking about this danish to my husband then for it to be sold out before she said they would be set out - Really wish the young lady knew more about what was being served on 4th of July as she was clueless.

I really loved this place!…read more Came for a weekend away and walked by this little gem. It's a super cute little coffee shop that has some adorable vintage decorations. They even have some toys for the kids to play... I love a kid friendly place! We ordered several coffees including a drip, zebra latte, lavender latte and toasted Marshmallow one, a Mexican coffee and even a hot chocolate for the kiddos (sorry I forgot the actual names of the drinks lol). seriously all of them tastes amazing!!!! Great quality coffee!! We even ordered some breakfast sandwiches (those are just decent) but the apple fritter was delicious! Also the prices are extremely fair! The guy behind the register was maybe one of the friendliest workers I talked too that entire weekend in Pacifica. Great kid, super personable! My only complaint is that they don't have a location near my house!!!! This would definitely be my new coffee shot! Definitely grab yourself a cup of coffee when you're in town!!!

Without hesitation, he remade it right away and even offered me the first one for free, which I thought was really kind and showed great customer service. The matcha itself was decent but it wasn't nothing mind blowing but definitely good enough to enjoy and sip on. It had a nice balance and wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated. What really stood out more than anything was the service. The guy was friendly, professional, and genuinely attentive, which made the experience better overall. If you're looking for a quick matcha fix in a convenient location with solid service, this is a good spot to check out!

We've been coming here for years but I'm stressed I haven't posted a review! They are a dated HK…read morestyle bakery but I wanted to highlight what our faves are: - egg custard tarts are so good and you can tell they make their crusts by hand, some places use premade crusts - milk tea - they make it old school style and it's very satisfying especially the cold foggy summer months - pineapple buns with custard - flaky, the custard is not too sweet and it's light and airy - MOCHI: don't sleep on it!!! Best mochi on there area, so amazingly light, chewy and the fillings are so good. Also pay cash if you can but they also take credit cards for purchases greater than $5

Decent selection here at this Hong Kong bakery they have things ranging from egg tarts to paper…read morewrapped sponge cakes to Hong Kong style pineapple buns. It's really one of the only Chinese style bakeries around the area so this is the one I typically would go to. The baked goods are decent. It's not any of the best I've ever had but it does satisfy the cravings. They also serve milk tea there or you can also ask for Yin Yang, which is 50% coffee and 50% milk tea. The service is OK the staff there collect your money and get you on your way so really nothing to complain about there. The bake shop and ambience is that of a typical Chinese style bakery you walk in and you grab your tray along with the tongs and you pick out the specific pastries that you want, and you put it on the plate and give it to the staff person at the front near the counter. That's also where you can get your egg tarts and other type of goods such as the more fresh pastries with meat in inside like a cha siew bao. If you pay with cash is cheaper as I believe they charge a surcharge when you pay with credit card. Parking is easy because it is just part of the big plaza area with plenty of parking.
