This place has kept up with what Ghengis Grill used to do in the same location except that they are missing the dry seasonings like lemon pepper, Cajun spices, etc. They have come a long way since opening under the new name. Lots of sauces to choose from now. Sadly though, they used to have some curry sauce but I was sad to see it gone on our visit Monday. Vegetable and meat selections are good. Marinated and unmarinated chicken and beef, shrinp, scallops, squid, sausage...Bok Choy, onions, squash, bell pepper, baby corn, water chestnuts, etc... There used to be a strange smell that we recognized as a cleaner we used to use at our work but apparently they read the reviews here and fixed that. Ultimately I am going to say I like the place and love the option of AYCE Mongolian and will break down my pros and cons in hopes that they read this and work to better things! Pros: AYCE @$19.99ish...And yes that is fair considering the costs of the product they offer and the labor costs I am sure. I eat 2-3 bowls at medium so hey. This is where Ghengis Grill failed...rather than raise the price, they eliminated AYCE and emptied the tables and parking lot completely. This place is feeling out the price of endless good food. Way to go and don't listen to cheap ass people bitch please! Work to mitigate costs and keep bringing us a pig out that is really pretty affordable in the face of buffets in the area and sushi AYCE near the same price! The service is stiff but I never want for anything so yay! And last time we went you downgraded my hubby to a medium bowl from AYCE because he decided that his calorie count should win out...and we didn't even have to ask. You offered to do so! AWESOME!!! Warm up the cooks a bit, maybe add a loud thingy for when people tip the cooks like Ghengis had and bam! The food is good and fresh (and yup after I put meat into my bowl I always smell and make sure). I love the spread! Could use some recipe ideas for those of us who are not creative from time to time though. The place is very clean and open. The Cons: There is never any music or TV at an audible level when we come in. Eating in a library is a nervous business...Bring on the music. Bring on the TV...Hell bring on some fire dancers! We will pay for some entertainment you know... The place is a little bare walls. You need some art, some colour...hell show some Khan history! The starch choice...When you deliver the card for the starch choice: Please allow me to select my own. Give me a pen, maybe remind me how to do it and trust me to do the rest. I am a big boy now! Having you select the first...then scratch the old choice out on the same card for my second bowl (cost cutting in a very obtrusive way?) makes it weird. If you are gonna go that far I feel I should maybe invite you to pull up a chair with my husband and I and talk about our health issues... In light of this ^^Advertising! We never even heard you were coming into the Ghengis spot! If we didn't go to that noodle place right near you we'd have never known! If you can't afford cable ads then by all means encourage us to yelp and share on FB and pass out menus for us to give friends! But advertising will fuel good things for you. You need some fun drinks. Maybe a dire Mai Tai with huge chunks of fruit? Flavored fresh fruit Iced teas or lemonades? The drink selection is very plain. Good but plain. Build on it. From the moment we walked in I got deja vu. It was like walking back in time to the old Genghis Grill that stood there before MB Grill. We were greeted happily from the host, asked if we had ever been there, shown around, handed a bowl in order to dig in. They had alot more choices than Genghis had, especially in the meat department. Their choices of flavorings was subpar, but they do give you spoons to sample. My Sprite tasted like rusty pipes, and when I got my plate the dish tasted like it was "missing" something. That's my fault, I didn't want to be slurping a ton of different sauces. This place is pretty spendy, but it is all you can grab in a bowl. I might try once again to see if I can get it down. Decided to try something new, and i have always loved mongolian. Almost no one in there which seemed a little odd. The greeter/waiter told us to follow him, not friendly at all, very intense and not patient. We were brought to a table and told to sit, we were about to sit down then told to come here like we were dogs. He walked us over to the beginning and started to question us like we were being interrogated, backed into a corner with a bright light shining is what it felt like. No where in this country at the many Mongolian grills i have been to had the waiter not only been extremely rude, but refuse to let us start without being asked 20 questions. You want small or large while shoving bowls in our faces, what noodle you want? Mongolian grills are not a new concept and all are pretty much the same with slight variations. The rules about all the different bowls are clearly marked so it would be difficult not being able to figure out you need 2 bowls and a plastic cup. I told him what noodle out of desperation for this to end, but then when i got to the noodle section i realized a different noodle sounded better, but it was already on my card so i was afraid of more problems if i wanted to switch. We finally finished that whole stressful ordeal and dropped off our selection. The food was ok at best, definitely nothing to write home about and the prices are way too high for what you get. Disclaimer: I am not a fan of mongolian grill restaurants. I am not very familiar with the flavors of the sauces so I usually choose a bad combination. Food: I ordered a medium bowl. I mostly filled it with meats, mainly beef short ribs, in addition to thin beef slices and pork, eggs, and asparagus I did not choose any starch (because I was on the Keto diet at the time) and instead loaded up on bok choy. I didn't eat much of the other meats i chose. I only put chili paste sauce in my bowl. Not the best choice because I added too much. At the end of the line where you choose what food goes in your bowl, there are these salted peanuts. These were the highlight for me. Went in today only because someone else was paying. Sign on window said "new owners". Entered w/no expectations. Was pleasantly greeted by a friendly hostess who led us to an equally friendly waitress. Prices for AYCE has been lowered and they have appetizers for you to enjoy while you're waiting for your food to be cooked. Had a couple kids with us that were getting a little fussy and the hostess brought them each a little toy. Lady cooking the food at the big grill was kind and greeted us with a big smile. Waitress was very attentive to our dietary needs (food allergy and vegetarian) I'm not sure if they knew about my previous review but they sure acted like they read it and made huge strides in improving the overall atmosphere of the place. Not impressed, 3 adults, 2 tweens. We understand covid changes things but lots of room for improvement. First of all, for the price we paid I expect the meal to be served on a real plate with a real fork, not a flimsy styrofoam divided picnic plate and plastic fork. Washing one plate and one fork is not that difficult. The food was just ok but Panda around the corner actually has more flavor, more options and MUCH less expensive. Understand they can't have people creating their own bowls but sauce picks, choice if spicy or not, garlic or other additions yielded the same generic flavor for all of us regardless of what we picked. Others commented portions were generous, we did not find that to be the case. One plate was heaping, the others were scant at best, regardless of the order. Feel sorry they can't operate as normal but almost $100.00 for 5 mediocre styrofoam divided plates of food is ridiculous. Save yourself some $ and frustration and go around the corner to Panda fast food. I placed a togo order over the phone for lunch. I did not have time to go anywhere, just to pick up and go on busy day back to work. The person that answered the phone was very friendly, she repeated the order to ensure she had it correct. She told me my meal would be ready to pick up in about 15 minutes. I got to the restaurant and walked in to the front counter. I was greeted with a warm smile and my order all ready for me. The nice gentleman at the counter went over my order to make sure it was all there. Got home and separated my cartons out of the bags and everything was neatly organized and the wet food was separate from the dry food to avoid sogginess. What detail!!!! Pretty decent and cheap for a Mongolian BBQ place. If you want to eat here low carb which is what I prefer, ask to get vegetables instead of rice or noodles.
