When our group came in to dine on a Saturday night around 8pm they were already out of many of the menu and drink items, and there were 3-4 items we had to re-order because it was no longer available. I wanted to take my aunt and uncle to a rooftop restaurant by the ocean, but they didn't want to go because they said it was too dark, too far and probably too cold, so we ended up at this Torrance mall. They (and I) have never been to MB Grille so we thought we will try it. I checked into the Yelp app and found out that we can get either a free calamari appetizer or the Coconut shrimp appetizer, so they were excited about the free app! Lol. We got the coconut shrimp appetizer. Thanks Yelp and MB Grille! My relatives also got excited about the free sourdough bread that came to our table. I told my uncle that if he visits me in SF, I will make sure to take him to Boudin for clam chowder in a Sourdough Bowl since he loves it. MB Grille has the clam chowder but we didn't order this here. We got a side Cesar Salad but none of us like it. Next, we ordered the crab and lobster cake. This was just okay. Nothing really special. We also got the shrimp scampi and this was also disappointing. Not very lemony. The Chilean Sea Bass dish came piping hot in a small casted iron and probably our favorite dish! If we had known, all 3 of us would have ordered this dish! I was going to get a steak but they told me they were full, so we wrapped up some leftovers and left. HH has a lot of options - he enjoyed 4 rounds of oysters, and I tackled the fish tacos. The tacos were good but you have to eat them fast or the fish will get cold. If only there were some kind of contraption that would keep food hot after it's served, wouldn't that be swell? The oysters were darn tasty, but they are not served with mignonette, now you know. I like sitting in the bar area - it's semi-open air and with our gorgeous so Cal weather there's nothing not to love. Plus it's the only area where HH is offered. When the weather changes, the breeze pretty much cools things down a lot, again, now you know. Mall parking is often challenging and now that the holidays are here, make sure you plan accordingly...especially at peak dining hours. Someone once said that it takes on average, about 9 minutes to find a parking space on a busy day. I've timed it, I'd say that average is pretty darn close. Fantastic HH prices and a pretty epic HH menu - you'd be hard-pressed to not find something that tickles your fancy. Service during HH was superb, even with a large party of 10 near us. The fettuccine alfredo was creamy and comforting, but a little too cheesy. I would say it is a 7/10. Noodles were a little overcooked imo The sweet and spicy calamari was pretty good as an appetizer. I wish the batter adhered to the squid a little more. It wasn't bad, but it could've used a bit more seasoning or a better balance of flavors. Also 7/10 The jambalaya linguini was a 8/10, it had a good kick of spice and bold flavors that paired perfectly with the linguini. All the meats were cooked well and tasted smoky. So I decided to give them another chance and came back without letting their PR person know as I'd didn't want anything free. Had the Poke appetizer and it was good, the beet salad and that was really good with a great dressing. Then had the Halibut and the green olive/lemon was a strange but great taste and the fish was great. Our server who shall remain nameless was upbeat and nice and had the meal out in a timely manner and then after he dropped off the entree, I never saw him again! I need water refilled and waited and waited and then finally got up from the table and walked across the restaurant to the bar to ask for water. It was mid afternoon and not crowded and a lot of People working but seemed like no one was doing anything. Anyway after a while another person came out and asked if everything was ok and I said what happened to our server? Oh he went on break. Really?? Was anyone going to say anything ?? Had a great time at MB Grille this weekend! Drinks and food were excellent. We had the clam chowder soup, it was so creamy with a decent amount of clam chunks and soft potato. The fish and chips were so crispy and come hot out the fryer. You get 4 large pieces of beer battered fish! The halibut sandwich had a tasty seasoning. The lobster and small steak filet pairing was delish! Perfect for when you can't decide between meat or seafood, so get both! Ycan choose two sides. My Mahi Margarita was exceptional. The look and taste conveys crafted drink and it happens to be a creation exclusive to torrance MB Grille. The ambience of the restaurant is great. We like to get a table or booth near the window. The restaurant is modern and has both inside and patio dining. The server was very pleasant but not efficient. The place was only half full but we did not get much service. We had to hail him down for water and waited about 10 minutes for him to notice us so we could ask for a check. The food was really good. Great variety of selections for both cocktails and food, though the scale is noticeably tipped heavily in the seafood category. So for those of you who are not into seafood and/or allergic to shellfish, just beware. For lunch, I had the special Le Petite Filet Mignon topped with lobster, mashed potatoes, and asparagus for $27, and it was DELICIOUS. The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking (medium rare) and the lobster was tender and juicy. The potatoes were addictive, and the clarified butter was heaven in my mouth. For $27, I thought this surf n turf dish was a good deal, and kept me full well into dinner time. My friend had the burger and said it was tasty. Fries were cooked to perfection as well. I ordered a "Smokin Old Fashioned," and though it was good, there was NOTHING "smoky" about it. The menu says it's "served in a smoking glass atop a torched cedar plank." Nope, nada. Mine was not. It was just served in a normal rocks or lowball glass. There was no smoke or anything enticing or intriguing in its presentation. They could have just added mezcal and that would have made it "smoky." The bartender must have been asleep. So false advertising there! The ambiance is open, airy, bright, modern, and cheery. They have bar seating as well as a very nice patio area for these wonderful "summer" days we seem to be having right now in December lol. Service was a tad slow. Our server seemed to be a tad preoccupied. He swung by to take our order and checked in once and that was it. He didn't bother to have a conversation or try to upsell us on anything. And during lunch hour (between 1:30-2:30 PM) on a Friday, it was surprisingly not very busy. So hence the 4 vs 5 stars for this forgettable service & the lack of "smoke" in my Old Fashioned. I'm all about the dining experience. Good food with a nice ambiance should be matched to stellar service, and we just felt that our server could have done better and been more memorable. There is free parking in the open lot as well as the garage space adjacent to the shopping center. Be prepared for crowds in the open lot durinf this holiday season. My husband and I had a fantastic meal at the Torrance MB Grill last evening. Timothy was our wonderful server, and all his recommendations were excellent. We had the charred oysters, Idaho Trout, Chilean Seabass, and Butter Cake. We also enjoyed the bread that was brought to our table at the beginning of our meal. In addition, the cocktails were quite delicious. We tried the Market Broiler Mary, the Smokin Old Fashion and the Island Smoke. The ambiance is quite nice, too. Christian was our rockstar MB Grille host and server for our Tuesday evening dinner, and provided top notch professional service for our table of 3 including my fur-baby. We are all seafood lovers so enjoyed the expansive menu of choices. I had the miso salmon which included coconut rice and broccolini which paired nicely with my lemon drop martini. Our table was welcomed with warm bread and real butter which tasted delicious with our starter beet salad. My other diners had the sea bass and halibut which they also enjoyed. We closed our dinner with a butter cake and gluten free crème brulee. The restaurant closed at 9pm, but our table and 2 other tables were enjoying the ambiance, food and service until nearly 10pm. Visited this location for a yelp elite event and decided to go back with a friend. This restaurant is located near the Del Amo Mall and is adjacent to Macys. Plenty of parking (not front line). Check in on Yelp and you have the choice of free appetizer, coconut shrimp or calamari. The food and service was excellent. The drinks pictured, (Island Smoke and Farmers Daughter) I highly recommend. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has a plexiglass wall so that passers by cannot infringe on your privacy while dining. It's vibrant, fancy, modern, spacious, and adorned with booths, a sports bar near the entrance that's hardly a distraction from the rest of the seating area (plus you'll get to watch sports from afar in your booth). There's a small room at the entrance where you can purchase fresh fish to go, which sets the tone to give you the feel of an open fish market a la SF/Seattle. Our server was super polite. The free house bread was solid, arriving with six total pieces on the loaf. The menu is absolutely loaded with tasty options I'd love to explore next time around. For apps, we'd ordered the shrimp and crab flautas. They were delicious; the meat was super tender, shell was very crispy, the chipotle sauce boldened the flavor immensely. However, I'm pretty sure this is the dish that gave us upset stomachs. For the entree, I got the Snapper Veracruz & Shrimp. This was a pretty healthy dish, bonus on plating for the decorative flower as well. Overall, the rice, shrimp, veggies had solid flavor. Unfortunately, the snapper was a little lackluster and didn't give the tastebuds much of a nudge. We took my mother here for her 91st birthday as suggested by a family member. The food was delicious and nicely presented. I wasn't too thrilled that a fountain drink, ice tea, and coffee is a whopping $4.95 each. There is also a 2.75% credit card fee. This surcharge is only to cover the fees imposed by credit card companies and is not greater than our total cost of accepting credit cards... but it still annoyed me cause I used a credit card... and we had a large party (13). Between us, we had the coconut shrimp appetizer (Thanks for that check-in prize, Yelp!), the wedge salad, fish & chips, a salmon bowl, and the lobster cakes. Hubbers and I were having dinner across the way when we noticed a difference in this place: "Wasn't this EMC before?" I'll admit, we were kinda sad EMC is gone, but were also curious about this place. So, we agreed, it's a must try at next opp. Between then and this visit, I was fortunate enough to be chosen to try them during a YEE, so lucky me: I got to do a taste test on some of their goodies! (For the record: that YEE was loads of fun and their offers for the event was nothing short of a yumFEST! Thanks, Evan and LB Yelp Elite Crew!) They also gave us a $15 off $50 discount. What else can we ask for! So, we planned our day: lunch here then a movie at the AMC located at the other end, and since we were already in the mall, maybe do a little shopping. We made reservations (although I felt we didn't need it, but better safe than sorry) so we were seated immediately. Since we came through at the first hour, there wasn't a crowd, although a few tables were occupied in no time. We were given water and menus immediately and Perla, our cool server, asked if she can get us started off with drinks (other than H2O.) I immediately went for the Spring Fling (because I loved it during that YEE) and Hubbers went for the 5 o'clock somewhere (in honor of Jimmy Buffet.) We had already decided on grub by the time we got our dranks. We were also served fresh off the oven bread and butter in the meanwhile - which was a great starter, gotta say. Perla was awesome - she said she'll put in the apps first and make sure she times it so our main grub don't overlap. THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE!!! I didn't really get to see the inside during the YEE since we were all placed more on the outer area. I got a better look at it on this visit. Love the high ceilings. Nice decor, there was something about its simplicity that made everything pop out nicely. And then here go the grubbies! FIRE ROASTED ARTICHOKE: Hubbers mentioned this at least twice earlier during the week so it was a must-have. Perfectly boiled soft and seasoned. On a personal preference, I would have liked it on the grill longer for a little bit more charred taste, but not bad at all. The dip was done well. Recommending. SWEET AND SPICY CALAMARI: We weren't even planning on getting this, BUT! It's a perk you get with a Yelp check-in. We enjoyed this as well. Batter was seasoned and crispy thin but didn't compromise the taste of the squid. I felt it didn't really need the dip, but it did elevate the flavor. Also recommending. DOZEN OYSTERS ON A HALF SHELL: I wasn't a fan of this (insert sad face here.) I love oysters, but not these ones. For one, there was one (three? five?) too many small shell remnants on them which tells me they weren't shucked clean. And the ultimate let down was it didn't taste fresh. It lacked that sorta-metallic fresh taste-of-the sea oyster broth. It was pretty (what's the word...) clammy?! But yeah... me no likey. Although Hubbers enjoyed it, I wouldn't recommend it. HARVEST OF THE SEA: My choice of main. I'll admit I was kinda getting full before this came through, but it looked so good, I had to at least have a bite or two. Average at best. Loved the seafood. Pasta was cooked one level above al dente. The sauce needed work, though. It tasted a little watered down and lacked flavor. I added a bit of salt and pepper which did it a little better but not enough. This dish has potential, though, so I hope it gets better in time. MEDITERRANEAN BRANZINO: Hubbers' choice of main. This they got PERFECT. Hubbers let me have a few bites and boy... I so wanted to take his plate away from him! Good thing I was full. What a flavor experience. The fish was fresh, the lemon and caper flavor, the seasoning. Everything about this dish is done fantastic. GET THIS! SEASONAL CREME BRULEE: Had to get something to cleanse off the palate. This was Hubbers' choice. Not too sweet, great sugar crust and strawberry was fresh. I'm not a sweets person, but I liked it! And that says a lot! FOOD: 4. That branzino! SERVICE: 5. Perla was great! She made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us often enough in a non-stalkerish way. VALUE: 4. PARKING: Located at the mall, so huge private lot and plenty of spots at the nearby structures. OVERALL: 4.25. We didn't bother using our $15 card - they were generous enough to comp the calamari AND an additional discount for downloading the app. I'm not one to take that kind of advantage. Besides, I'll get to use it for next time (because there is gonna be a next time!) I enjoyed it. More importantly, Hubbers enjoyed it more than I did. Looking forward to that next visit! read more

Found this place close to our hotel during a work trip to Southern California. It's a wonderful restaurant with various choices. The interior was very spacious and the interior decor was quite relaxing. There was ample parking as it is in a mall but has its own accessible entrance. Our company of three made it here during happy hour and shared the various appetizers which were delicious. The Coconut Shrimp was served with this sweet Piña colada dipping sauce for six torpedo shrimps that has a light batter and fried. What makes this really good is that it's not oily and you forget it's fried. The Poke Nachos was sumptious and made with fresh ahi tuna, avocado and this sesame soy sauce drizzled over the delicate chips that tasted like wonton. The Shrimp & Crab Flautas are four pieces of rolled crispy flour tortillas filled with crab & shrimp, pepper jack cheese, avocado crema and served over a bed of napa cabbage and carrots with a delicious sauce on the side. For my main dish, I had the grilled salmon served with rice, broccolini and miso sauce. That was delicious! Our server Bethsabeth was attentive and helpful. What topped my experience is the fact that I was able to retrieve my corporate credit card early the next day (3 hours before opening). I accidentally left it after dinner. The manager, Lauren, took my call just after 8am and gladly met me to retrive my card. She truly made my day and this is truly going the extra mile to provide topnotch service. read more

My wife, 2-year-old, and I decided to stop in tonight (Saturday). We were able to get seated quickly into a comfortable booth. We ordered an appetizer (sweet and spicy calamari) and three entrees. Everything was DELICIOUS. Beyond that, the staff was phenomenal. Our server, Tim, was welcoming, patient, and knowledgeable. He gave some great recommendations, checked in on us regularly, and made our normally shy 2-year-old come out of his shell and laugh. Came for Happy Hour. Splendid happy hour menu, sat on the patio area. The chairs are really high up, but the food was great. We had a decent amount of people so we had tons of orders and drinks coming in but the service was great and the waitress and waiter were always on top of things with clearing plates, taking our orders and drinks orders, checking in with the bartender on specific inquiries on the drinks as well. It was a nice ambiance, they had some tvs showing the sports channels but there was a bar that blocked part of the tv so we couldn't see the full screen. I've been here a couple of times, and while the food is good and the service decent, be aware that they add a 2.75% processing fee for credit card payments. By the way, this rate is higher than most credit card merchant fees. As a business owner myself, I view credit card fees as a standard cost of doing business, not something to pass on to customers. This is the first restaurant I've encountered that penalizes customers for using a credit card, and in my opinion, it's a poor business practice. read more
