I just ate McAlister's for the time ever today. Overall, it was a really good experience and I will definitely be back to try out additional items on their menu. I was looking for a place to grab some food quickly over the lunch hour. I love sandwiches and am a regular and all the sandwich shops in town. Well, not all the places because I forgot this place existed until about a week ago when my wife reminded me of it. So it was on my list of places to try out. I didn't have much time so I was hoping for fast service. Upon my arrival I was excited to see they had a drive through. I went to the drive through. The menu was easy to read and I made my selection quickly. I went with the sweet chipotle chicken sandwich, barbecue chips, and a Coke Zero. There was only 1 car in front of me. The wait was longer than I was expecting with only 1 car in front of me. The cashier said their computer went down briefly causing the delay and apologized. She was very kind and delivered very good customer service. The sweet chipotle chicken was really good, but I found the sauce a bit too sweet. The chicken was excellent and the bread was very soft and fresh. I would definitely eat it again. The chips were your average kettle baked chips. I did not go inside the building so I cannot comment on the interior of the building but from the outside the facility looked new and well taken care of. The price for my sandwich, chips, and drink was $10.96 which seems very comparable to the other places in town for this size of a meal. I'll be back. read more

We went to get lunch here and ordered through the drive thru. The service was great and although we waited a bit she gave us two free brownies which I really appreciated. When we drove back and got ready to eat we noticed they messed up one of our orders and instead of the jalapeño crunch we got some bbq chicken sandwich which wasn't bad but when my boyfriend was eating it he found a huge chunk of plastic in it and I'm not taking a small piece but a huge chunk which could've been a choking hazard. I'm disappointed to say the least because McAlister's has never done this to me before but I usually go to the location in ISU. Of all the times I have ordered this exact meal around the US from McAlister's, I have NEVER seen such a minimal amount for $13. GM stated that it should be 4oz of meat on a 3" wide (bun width) and 1/3 total bun (length of 12") aka 3"x3". GM also stated it's a premium sandwich (which also made me lol as I stared at said sandwich which had 2 slices of meat and a slice of cheese) so it will be small, to where she did not understand in no way this should be labeled a sandwich. Had lunch here. It can get busy during the work week. Nice variety of salads, soups, sandwiches and potatoes. Order at the counter and they bring it out. Coke products, including Coke Zero. They have a nice sized patio. As well as a drive-thru. For drink refills you have to go up and wait for someone to fill it for you, or grab a worker delivering food/clearing tables to get it for you. This McAlister's is overall pretty decent. I wouldn't say they have my favorite food in the world, but it is a close option for lunch. The parking lot here was incredibly full. Even some people parking in the grass. We figured that it would be overly busy inside but luckily the restaurant is very large and there was no one in line to order. I had the Smokey Pepperjack Turkey with Mac & Cheese and my friend had the Sweet Chipotle Chicken with Potato Salad. My turkey sandwich was ok. It didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping for but it wasn't bad. I didn't care for the Mac & Cheese. The temperature was very off. It wasn't warm on the outside but it was piping hot on the inside. My friend enjoyed both her sandwich and side. The service was better than what I imagined for a newer restaurant. The food I had was very good. The 20 min wait in the drivethru not so much. And the drivethru speaker has the most annoying buzz that it seriously jangled my nerves. Nice menu selections - a little different from other places in town. I tried the chopped salad and hubs got a french dip. Salad was large, very fresh with lots of goodies and the vinaigrette dressing they recommend was delicious. The big sandwich came with a huge vat (think soup bowl) of au jus which is always appreciated vs. tiny little cups. I didn't get any beverages this time but am very curious about their tea they describe as famous. With regard to the wait time, I get that they are recently opened and it was prime lunch time when I got there. But there were only 2 cars in front of me. Second bad review within a week. Shouldn have ordered again. Both times the SW Chicken and Avocado salad. Last time, they didn't put ANY chicken in. I ordered a salad from McAllister's for lunch. The email said that it would be delivered in about 30 minutes. After waiting for a hour, I contacted the store to check on the order. They said it had been delivered at the time stated in the email confirmation. I double checked and discovered that it had been left on the front step. There was no knock on the door, no doorbell, nothing. Apparently, it had been sitting outside for over 30 minutes. I guess it is a good thing it wasn't a hot meal. The staff and service at McAlister's were absolutely phenomenal - we had 22 athletes and coaches today, and they had our food hot and ready for us! I was really excited for this restaurant to come to Bloomington because, overall, I like this chain and its food. However, this particular location needs some help. The cashiers at the front counter are not friendly at all and not knowledgeable about the menu. At my most recent visit, I had to repeat my order several times. The cashier just stood there with a blank look on her face, like she didn't understand English. I wasn't surprised when my order came out wrong. However, they quickly remade it correctly. I drove through at lunch today, my order was taken at 11:55, the fulfillment ticket said it was ready at 12:05, and my food arrived to my car at 12:08. I know the exact times because I took pictures of of both receipts by the clock in my car. I can ALMOST (let's admit that's too long) live with a 15 minute wait for a wrap, tea, and chips but to see 3 orders that came in behind me getting their food was frustrating. The person delivering orders also brought out 2 meals to the wrong cars, lots of back & forth. Order the two to go sandwich with one of the sandwiches a Reuben. Problem with not being able to eat in the restaurants is they know that you are stuck with what they give you unless you check it out when you pick it up. The bread doesn't fit the sandwich. Listen. You can't take a single piece of bread, toast it then angle cut and try to use as the top and bottom of a sandwich. It won't match. Just cut the thing in half, flip one side over then toast and if it turns black, throw it out and start over. I recommend requesting extra extra thousand island dressing if you expect to taste it at all. The fruit cup has nothing shown in the menu advertisement. Strongly recommend against it. Stick to a soup or potato salad. Subway is a much greater value for your dollar based on food prep, quality and portion size. read more

Look. I understand things happen and orders get backed up, but you weren't busy at 3:30pm on Saturday, April 15 and we weren't ordering a large volume of food. It was a drink and a sandwich, yet it took more than ten minutes for the food to come out. But again, things happen, so maybe you could have offered an apology or an explanation as to why things took so long. Instead, all we got was a "here's your food" with no eye contact and it was off to the next person. If you can't handle the number of customers you get, don't have a drive thru. They bring it out and it's a chicken breast sandwich. They remake it to a chicken salad sandwich. Another 5 min. They bring it out and he proceeded to tell me it was made with tomato, but they picked it off and if I had an allergy and they would remake (I do not). I drive off and notice my soup is now missing. The food is usually very good and I've not had a problem with the employees either. Usually pleasant and helpful until today 7-15-23 at noon on Lincoln st in Bloomington IL. My daughter and I went to the drive-through, and the woman taking our order was very short and rude to us. When we got to the window, she actually stuck her hand up to us gesturing for us to either shut up or something rude, we did not exactly know. She was also yelling through the window. Then she proceeds to turn her back to us for a very long time when it came to pay the man she was training open the window and I said is there a problem and he said we are just very busy and I said no is there a problem with her and I pointed to her she looked at us with pure evil, and stormed off yelling. I felt terrible for the poor boy she was training, I will call corporate about this because in all of my years I have never dealt with such a horrible rude employee ever. The only reason I'm giving them a one today is because of this and she should no longer be working there. I absolutely love McAlister's. I get it at least once a week. I always get "The McAlister's Club" with a side of their Mac n cheese and it never disappoints. There's always a guy and I believe his name is "Eli". He's the best. Always super nice and friendly. One time they were super busy so I had to wait a few minutes for my food. It was no longer than 10 minutes which I didn't mind because I knew they were busy, so Eli gave me a free cookie for having to wait. Everyone who works there is super nice and the food is always good. One time I got the wrong order, so I told the worker and they fixed it no problem, free of charge. Went to the drive thru for ham and turkey sandwich. I was only car in drive thru and only three cars in parking lot. After 15 minutes sitting in the drive thru I called inside to see what the deal was. The manager answered (makalya) and she just had no answer. She said "I understand" like fifteen times and then claimed "we got slammed with orders" when I informed her I was the only person there she made more excuses. Asked her if she had an apology or just excuses and she got rude. Told me my sandwich was ready and would be right out. Waited three more minutes and someone finally brought out the order. She was carrying four bags and had all the cars behind me orders too. Cars that didn't arrive until after I had already been waiting 10 minutes myself. Will never return. Not worth it.
