McAlister's Deli has been a staple for me since college in Southern Indiana, so I was excited to bring my LA-raised boyfriend here for his first visit and it was my first time at this location. The staff was friendly, and the food was solid. I went with their classic Spud Olé (no longer on the menu, but still available) a baked spud loaded with chili, cheese, jalapeños, ranch, and sour cream and it did not disappoint. Paired with an unsweetened strawberry tea, it made for a really enjoyable meal. That said, the chili and cheese toppings felt a bit skimpy compared to my past experiences. As far as, ambiance - it's a diner style with many tables. Unfortunately, even though it wasn't very busy, it was a little challenging to find a clean table, so the dining room could have used some attention. This McAlister's is situated inside of the massive Brentwood Place complex adjacent to the CFA. For the most part, this is your standard McA's location. While this is not our go-to McA's, when we are in Brentwood, more specifically a few spots in Brentwood Place, we usually pop into McAlister's to grab a bite. We have a few constant items including the Southwest Chicken and Avocado Salad, and a plain spud with a side of chili...that gets dumped on top once we get home! The salad is always as ordered, whether be via app or in person. The only thing that is annoying is the amount of dressing they give you, even when you order and pay for extra. Two small ramekins? Come on y'all. And when you ask for a third, they act like it is coming directly out of their pay. The spud and chili are always on point and such a good combo. Service is always friendly here. Nothing over the top, just standard service. The space is well kept and clean. Overall, this McAlister's is worth a pop in when we are already in the area. Hungry for dinner and having a reward on my McAlister's app, this was kind of an easy decision. I've been in A LOT of McAlister's and each one is has a different layout inside. You never know what it's going to look like inside. On my way to place my order I saw a sign for Buffalo Chicken Nachos. It's really, REALLY hard to *not* sell me on nachos, so of course, Jim orders nachos. When I tried to redeem the reward the person on the counter couldn't figure it out. It really wasn't hard, but they made it harder than it needed to be. Ultimately he ended up doing a manual redemption. McAlister's iced tea is one of my Top Three restaurant iced teas. (Panera and Jason's Black Current are the other two). Fill your cup up with ice (it's brewed strong and hot), and you've got a cup of iced tea awesomeness. About ten minutes later my Buffalo Chicken Nachos arrived. It was definitely a pile of nachos! The smell of the buffalo sauce was awesome. But, to be honest, these were not the best nachos I've ever had. I love nachos. I love buffalo sauces/flavours. But it wasn't great. That doesn't mean I didn't eat it, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I had anticipated. I think a part of that is that the tortilla chips weren't store-made, but it was evident that they were bagged chips. During the 30 or so minutes I sat there I don't think I saw a single table cleaned. While the rest of the restaurant was clean, there were 4 or 5 tables that sat undisturbed after the guests left for at least a half an hour. I'll be back in Brentwood in a couple weeks and will probably visit again. It's a nice location and easy to get to. I just won't order the Buffalo Chicken Nachos. read more

I eat at McAlister's often and recently had a boxed-lunch catering meal from them. They did a great job, had it ready on time, and even made the edits we asked for. I felt awful cause we were ordering for work with a company card and I completely blanked on the gratuity option and didn't have the opportunity to tip after the payment was already submitted. I rediscovered McAlister's on a Sunday. They are open! Sit-down too! (If that bothers you, please go back to whatever blue state you belong). The King club is a monster, and a great honey mustard dressing, fresh "real" lettuce, real cheddar cheese that break apart. But don't try to eat this in the car. I was really hungry - and this really fills you up. Great potato salad, with exactly the right size chunks of slightly-firm potatoes and a slightly-mustard dressing with a hint of celery, onion, and paprika. You can tell the chef in the back has consistency paired with the perfect methodology and recipe. Even the tea was great. read more

Good food and I go here frequently since it is right next to where I live. The reason for a 3 Star review is because it is near impossible to get fast service between Noon-1:30pm. I get it they are busy. Today instead of waiting in line I used the app to place an online order. I placed it before Noon and the receipt said it would be ready in 15 minutes. To play it safe I didn't arrive until 20 minutes after the order was placed and went to the pickup shelves and it wasn't there. They said they were running a bit behind so I waited. While I waited customer after customer who were dining in went to the counter to check on their order. Many of them like me were on their lunch break and had to get back to work. I waited 5 minutes and then 10 minutes. After 30 minutes of waiting I asked them to just cancel my order. They said there were 2 orders ahead of mine so it hadn't even been made. Since the time the order was placed it took 50 minutes. What did I order that was so complicated? It was one sandwich and a bag of chips. I know some restaurant apps will adjust the time if they are busy. I was told this one just defaults to 15 minutes regardless of delays. This review is simply to give you a heads up because I saw a number of people standing in line leave when they heard so many of us talking about the 45 minute plus wait. Also, I heard the cashier telling the people that were about to order that they are backed up and the wait is 15-20 minutes. Just be honest and say it will be at least a half hour for a sandwich that doesn't even need to be grilled. read more

I finally ate here a year ago and have become a regular. Their food is always fresh, the staff is courteous and efficient. I have regular menu items I enjoy, but I do like to try new ones. And the tea is great! Good job, McAlister's! read more

Terribly understaffed. Expect to wait upwards of 20 minutes in line during the lunch rush, and the same amount of time to wait for your food. 5 stars because it's not their fault; it's tough to find employees with the national staffing shortage, in general. Does the General Manager even work here? I've tried to come in to speak with her multiple times regarding a large catering order for an event (200 people). I get off work around 4-430, and about the time I get there it's 5pm or a little after, or I go in on the weekends. She has been available NONE of these times! Since it was such a large order I wanted to go in person so there are no gaps of information. I asked one of the employees and they laughed and said "yea she leaves early all the time and never stays her full shift, and doesn't work weekends really". WOW. Chik-fil-a was swamped so I stopped in to grab a meal to go. I ordered a half-salad and a half-sandwich. The Savannah salad came with lettuce, chicken, gorgonzola, dried cranberries, and a vinaigrette, and I thought it was fantastic! The Southwest turkey melt was great too, if a bit small. I found it to be better than Panera, and at a better price. I would have either the sandwich and salad again, but getting half of each left me half-satisfied. read more

We stopped in to pick up an early dinner on Sunday and were very happy with our food! I initially wanted the chicken salad, but they had just run out. No worries, I had a salad with chicken instead! While ordering, tvs behind the counter show high res images of the sandwiches, salads and soups which was helpful in choosing what to order! The club sandwiches looked really great, and I would love to try those next time. I had the chopped salad with cranberries. almonds, grilled chicken tomatoes and cucumbers. It was the perfect size for an early dinner, and the red shallot dressing it came with tasted fresh, unlike many chain restaurants which have artificial tasting dressings. My boyfriend had the new turkey guacamole sandwich with havarti cheese on a multigrain bread, and loved it! Turkey+avocado is a classic, and the guacamole added some extra flavor with the onions, tomato and herbs/spices. The restaurant was very clean, and parking was easy to find. A drive out to Brentwood last night allowed us to stop at McAlister's Deli for a quick bite on our way back into Nashville. Located in a shopping plaza makes this sandwich shop a popular place to stop. The dining area was an interesting blend of Crackle Barrel country art on the walls; Steak N' Shake meets Mayberry diner with brass railing and plaid fabrics; and honestly a watered down Jason's Deli. It was obvious the choices were ample from sandwiches, salads, soups and baked spuds the size of your forearm. I ordered the half of the smoked pepper jack Turkey panini which was delicious with a half of a cup of chicken tortilla soup for about $6.00. The reuben was also ordered with applesauce as the side and was fabulous at a whopping $8.00. With two large teas the meal was $18. Not too shabby for two. The panini was flavorful and toasted pristinely on the outside. I would definitely order this again especially with the McAlister honey mustard sauce on the sandwich. The soup, however, wasn't such a pretty story. The soup is incredibly spicy for my palate and had a consistency of congealed brown gravy. I ended up heating it up for lunch the following day and the consistency was like broth. I can't explain that chemistry!!! The corned beef on the reuben was perfectly flavored and the sauerkraut was tart but not overpowering. The ingredients totally delivered on the rye toasted bread. Overall my dislike of McAlister's is the inaccessibility to the tea source. I hated having to go back up to the counter to ask for refills. Also, the service wasn't the greatest. It's okay. Food: The menu is WAY too big. It fills a whole wall! No way can I tell what's what. And most of the sandwiches have cute, non-descriptive names, like "The Memphian!" What does that even mean? So in addition to a giant menu, I have to read the description of each sandwich. Why not call it "Hot Roast Beef with Cheese?" So I've had several sandwiches, hot and cold ones, and the soup and the chili. It's not bad, but it's pretty bland. Something is missing. Maybe its the bread. But I swear, Subway makes a better sammy. Service: It's friendly enough but food delivery is inconsistent. Order with a friend or two, pay, and get a number to put on our table. One of your party will get his food, then another, maybe, and as the first finishes, yours will arrive! Finally, it's slightly pricey for what you get. Been here a few times. The most accessible deli in the area, and the food is really good, for a deli. I've had better, like Jason's Deli, but there are a couple things that standout. 1. Sweet tea is famous. They give you big pieces of lemon another plus. 2. Soups are outstanding, you have to ask for the bread bowl though. Also, I like the decor, and ordering the ultimate nachos, because men enjoy names with ultimate in it. Good place where everyone is pretty satisfied because traditionally people like a good sandwich or salad. The quality is consistent. That said, sometimes you get really slow service, and sometimes it's really fast, Slow is extremely annoying. They always seem to choose me for the slow service. read more

It's a decent lunch spot in the office park saturated Maryland Farms/Franklin Rd area. Get there early or you will be standing in line for a bit, but they do move you along relatively quickly; they are pretty busy every day for lunch. I had the muffaletta, it was servicable; I prefer the one at Nooley's, but am rarely downtown anymore. My wife had the French Dip and thought while it was good, the aujus was bland. Knowing this chain, this restaurant disappoints me! The best sweet tea there is! The chicken chipotle sandwich didn't have the chipotle topping on it. The sandwiches just aren't as good as other locations I have been to before. The staff commonly misses things like getting the right potato chips for your sandwich. Soups are always on point and food usually comes out quick which is nice on a lunch break. I don't go here often cause the parking lot is likely one of the entrances to hell itself. It's bad.
