It was a pleasant surprise to get my fix of McAlister's Deli in the Indianapolis area. My wife and I frequented McAlister's Deli on almost a weekly basis while living in New Orleans. She even used to work at one. Long story short, she was super excited to stop in for some great Ice Tea and some delicious food. We started out with the Chili Cheese Dip, which is no longer on the menu (or at least wasn't at this location). Nonetheless, they did make it for us, and it was delicious as always. For my meal, I had the Pick 2 Combo: Spud Max and Club Sandwich. Both were excellent! I also had some great ice tea (I recommend the Sweet Tea for those who like it sweet!). Overall, we had a great experience and even left with a McAlister's Deli Christmas ornament to remember the occasion. read more

Fantastic food! It is hard to find a good place that can make a good vegetarian item! I have fallen in love with their baked potato that has Vegi chili! It is super good and way filling. They also have some of the best tea I have had. I don't enjoy sweet tea but my mom and sister love it! They still have a great un-sweet tea! read more

McAlisters is a few blocks away from my house . This is one of my father's favorite sandwich restaurants so we come here pretty often . They have a variety of cold and hot sandwiches. Majority of them are specialty sandwiches or you can build your own. You can even request different breads. I am someone who is allergic to whole wheat so I appreciate the fact I can ask for other types of bread due to my allergy . This place also has salads, loaded potatoes (which they call a spud), etc. The lemonade and tea they make is so good. I love that you can ask for flavors such as strawberry and peach in them. It just costs a few cents extra. My little sister loves the huge chocolate chip cookies and brownies they have as well. They are always soft! The only reason why I did not give them 5 stars is they have some days where the workers aren't as friendly as they should be. There was a time I came in and stood there while the workers were joking around . One looked dead at me and kept talking then asked me what I wanted. Not all of them are like that, but there is a few. However I recently had the turkey garden sandwich with broccoli cheese soup and it was good. I love and miss McAlister's! I've been to the Avon location a few years ago and most recently, I came to this location with a couple of friends. Since I hadn't been back to the area in what feels like a good couple of years, I wanted to eat at the few places I loved when I lived here! =) I most always order their Veggie sandwich, and I noticed that they changed their sandwich just a little bit. Instead of having one whole sandwich cut in half, they now have about 6 tiny triangle slices all joined together by a toothpick, on either side of the plate... I liked it the old way better, but oh well, it was still good! With my meal, I got a peanut butter cookie which was AMAZING, and of course, how can you not have this when you are here, their SWEET iced tea! =) As I said before, I miss this place, and I'll be sure to come back when I'm back in town again... read more

We often order lunch in for business meetings and customers. They've never disappointed. Always delivered on time. Great selection of sandwiches, soups, and sides. From a delivery perspective this is the only game in town. Forget about the chains like JJ, Subway, or Penn. These guys are the real deal. read more

Second time here in two days. Food was excellent both times. Wish there were some back in Jersey! The only critique is the folks taking your order could be a bit more pleasant. By no means were they rude or anything, but seeing how the staff roaming the floor, cleaning tables and interacting with the guests did shows me there is a solid customer service platform in place. McAlister's / Michigan Road is a decent restaurant and one of my first choices for lunch. However, they do not enforce the health department's rule that face masks must be worn, which is particularly disturbing for a food prep/service establishment. This rule is to be enforced by management as much as wearing shoes, wearing shirts, not smoking, and refrigerating perishable foods at certain temperatures, among other rules regarding public safety and health. Just a warning to those who want to know restaurants' COVID-19 practices before going there to eat. read more

Being from California it was a great change of pace to come into a place you'd never been before and be treated so hospitably! My fiance and I enjoyed the sandwiches a great deal, and felt inclined to leave a tip to the staff that was just beaming the whole time! Everything was great!!! read more

Last night, we stayed at the Embassy Suites on Michigan Road. We ordered food online for the store near the hotel. My son walked through the snow to pick it up. When he got into the store, he was informed they had sent their employees home due to the snow storm. I understand and appreciate sending employees home due to weather, but I'm extremely disappointed at the number of service opportunities that were missed: 1. No outbound call was made. They had the order in the store and our phone number, but they did not inform us that the order wouldn't be fulfilled until we got into the store. This contradicts the safety message, putting Customers at risk (unnecessarily). Add to this that we were waiting for nothing - ended up having to order hotel food 45 minutes later. 2. We were charged anyway and no refund has been made. We requested we be cashed out or refunded on the spot, but they couldn't do so. They promised they'd call the next day and refund our card, but here I sit. No call. Now we have to remember to call tomorrow to get our refund. I have never eaten at a McAlisters, as there aren't any local where I live. I can't say I'll try again. read more

I was in Indianapolis from out of town, and this was my first experience with a McAlister's. It was really good. The people working there were friendly, and they have a lot of great options. I've eaten at multiple McAlisters. I love their selections of deli items for lunch or dinner that aren't like typical fried food places. I don't leave feeling like I'm regretting anything. I stopped in this location for lunch. It was very very busy and I had to wait quite awhile to order. Once I did order, my food came to my table very quickly. I had half a soup (butternut squash) and half a salad. It was satisfying and healthy. This location is very large and able to accommodate the large lunch crowds that pile in. I stopped in on Wednesday afternoon to buy a gift card, and maybe the bad day I was having was written all over my face, but the person helping me gave me a free Diet Coke and that seriously made my day. My first experience with McAlister's was several years ago at a lun heon which was catered by them. The turkey and ham made a great sandwich. On my 1st visit to the restaurant, I was almost overwhelmed with the vast variety of food choices and combinations. I chose the mufffeleta not knowing how big it was. I had enough for 3 people to eat a small sandwich. The club sandwich is great as is their pepperwd turkey. On 2 different occasions, my family has used them to cater family gatherings. I chose the baked potato bar and was not disappointed. The huge potatoes came with numerous toppimgs, all neatly packed in individual containers. Everyone was very pleased. Other menu items I love at McAlisters is the gumbo, chili and the sweet tea and lemonade. A little crazy ordering, but at least the food was good! We stopped here on our way to Nashville. We needed a quick lunch, and they were good to provide that! We waited in a line, and then you go up and order. They give you a number, and you put it on the stand at your table. Then someone brings you your food. So the food was good (I had a caesar salad and the vegetable soup. Both were fairly good...once I got my food the correct way. I guess the girl at the register was too busy acting "cool" to realize that I had asked for no cheese and the dressing on the side of my salad. She had an attitude from the beginning, which is the only reason this place gets docked a star. Great desserts, though! I love McAlister's!! The line moved quickly however I had to wait a while to get my to go order. My food is always delicious, my favorite being the broccoli cheddar soup. SOOO good. I saw asiago cheese bisque on the menu today. Next thing I'm trying for sure. You definitely get more soup than at Panera, but Panera has a better bread bowl. The lemonade is amazing too. When placing order it was asked of the cashiers if a sandwich can be customized. She said yes we can do anything you want. The order we said was a "KidsTurkey wraps with cheddar cheese and mayo and a turkey sandwich with lettuce tomato and mayo." When they came out the turkey sandwich was a club with cheese bacon and spicy musters on it. And the the wrap had lettuce and tomatoes on it. The took them back and brought the wrap back correct but the sandwich looked as if they just picked the cheese off. The "Manager" came out and asked what we wanted on the sandwich because they are confused. When they finally brought the sandwich out correct we had to inquire if the sandwich that was ordered and finally received was what we where charged for. The "Manager" acted l angry that we would questing the and finally office to ring up the sandwich and see if there was a difference and gave a refund. When we reviewed the receipt none of the special requests where ever entered. When we went to get refill on out drinks we got dirty looks from the staff acting like we did something wrong. My Coworkers and I ordered from here on a Friday, they messed up all 6 orders. The mac&cheese was Macaroni with cheese clumps in between the noodles.. it looks like it had been sitting out for days. It was cold, and didn't look edible. They forgot the cheese on an order of nachos. Made a sandwich instead of a wrap. Forgot the chips for a meal. Ordered cookies, paid for cookies, didn't get cookies. When we called to complain about all of the issues, the lady was extremely rude. There food has always been very good. But my deal breaker is dealing with deliveries with their company after getting an opened bag from a door dasher. I called to express my concern as I do with any company were I think my food safety is compromised. The bag open and soft drinks that should be in sealed bottles only. With covid and just nasty ass drivers I would expect good service with a sealed bag with tamper tape. This childs excuse for not sealing the bag was the bags are new and we dont have a method yet. I'm not the sharpest tool but damn. I guess food safety is second to their new luxurious plain food bags. Come on people. Tape the damn bag and put It into another damn bag. It is some really nasty and disturbing people that deliver food for your company and you dont want no parts of making sure your food is delivered safely? Wouldn't thar be a great way to not be liable of a customer getting sick. Whoever that child was that answered the phone this sunday at 6pm could have cared less about my concern. There are times when you must go against your personal philosophy and eat at a chain. I was in an independent restaurant desert, had a date who likes meat and I needed a real salad so McAlister's it was. So many choices of salad but all had meat (which I know I can take off but still) so I went with the Ceasar which had no anchovies not surprise there but boo. I was also seduced by the 2 fer special which lets you have 2 choices of (half of) anything on the menu for $7.95. And I mean everything including the loaded baked selection potato. So yeah I got the 1/3 muffaletta because I cannot resist olive relish and ham. Speaking of pickle-ey things, they have a free pickle bar with pepperocinis, jalapenos and dills,which I totally loaded up on causing me to get multiple (free) refills of their famous tea. I find their sweet tea too much but the unsweet perfectly acceptable and they do bring it to your table for you, My date had the MAX baked potato which had beer and bacon with cheese and olives. The skin was chewy and salty, very nice. He also had the French dip sandwich which had very thick bread. The dip was pretty flavorless. Service was super friendly and I was impressed by how many regulars came in and were greeted by name and a personal anecdote. Very neighborhood-ey. Total bill $23 read more

Best sub shop I've ever been in, best sandwiches, great service.

I usually order one of the drinks they have because I like them. Last Friday I decided to try the food along with my usual drink ordering a sandwich (SW Griller) and a potato. After eating this food I became very ill and had stomach problems for two days. After I was finally feeling better on Monday I called to let them know what happened and to request a refund considering all the pain I went through on my weekend off. I thought this was a reasonable request and (luckily) I saved the receipt. Despite explaining my situation and the fact that I had my receipt, a person who identified themselves as a store manager told me I would not receive a refund because he was certain their food did not make me sick. Really? I never ask for refunds from any restaurant even when they get my food wrong, but I was really sick and felt that I deserved one in this case. I was treated horribly and that manager made me feel like I was just looking for a freebie. I can assure you that was not the case and if you saw the way the people who worked in that store prepared the food, you might share my concerns and understand why I blame them for my sickness. read more
