This company is absolutely horrible. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! First time technician came to our house he did not bring a tool he said he needed to fix our AC so he left. Minutes after leaving a neighbor was able to get the part off the technician couldn't. I called back to have the technician return, which they refused and said they would have to reschedule, although the tech was on 5-10 minutes away from my house. I have two small children with temps over 100 and they still refused. Second attempt. No show. Got a call from the technician 30 minutes after the 4 hour window they gave saying he refused to provided his ID to the front gate of our gated community and would not be doing the repairs. When told they request and Id from everyone he hung up on me. Then Danny, the so called owner, called. Said they would not be servicing our AC because the requested and ID from the technician, and there company would never return. I got one sentence out before Danny hung up on me. Worst customer service I have ever seen, both from an employee and owner. Fidelity home insurance is who contracts this company. Don't be fooled by all the great reviews you read. They clearly are fake reviews. Look at all the one star reviews. All customers from fidelity. Wish I could give a negative star review for his company. read more

These guys came to us from Fidelity Home Warranty, but they were experts, solved our A/C problem, and explained everything. They even cleaned our unit and showed us how to change batteries, etc. Highly recommended for small A/C service jobs. Outstanding! read more

I rarely give reviews but I feel compelled to document my experience. I also contacted MD through Fidelity. Danny came out and without discussing it with me declined my claim due to "access". When I found this out from Fidelity and called Danny back he was extremely rude and told me no other company could fix it and would tell me the same thing. He refused to meet me again any time soon to discuss options, claiming he was too busy. Fidelity refused to send a second company for another opinion because of Danny's claim. I had 2 other companies out within 2 days, both of which said the unit needed to be replaced, but replacing it was no problem. I truly believe that Danny did not want my business because he would not make enough money from Fidelity to make it worth his time. MD services scheduled to come out to my house today from 9-11 am. At 9:30 am I get a call saying that they need to cancel and that someone else will be dispatched from Fidelity. Keep in mind, I was waiting for over a week for this appointment. They are very unprofessional and didn't even try to get someone else out here. USE ECO COOLING AND AIR!!!!!! MD services is great. They were referred to me by my home warranty. I had an air problem at a rental property during a heat wave. The real issue was my renter had a 2 week old infant so getting them cool air was a top priority for me. Even though every company was booked up until the following week the Owner Danny worked us into the schedule for the very next day. He ran behind on a previous job but had his receptionist call me well in advance to notify me. He also called again when he was 30 mins away. The communication and professionalism was oustanding. Once onsite he determined the issue was a broken thermostat. He quickly fixed the problem and called me personally to explain the problem as I had asked him to do. Often time the home warranty vendors leave without giving you an explanation and make you work through the home warranty. All in all he was very honest and I would highly recommend this company. I too am in the customer service industry so I hold vendors to high standards and he met them all. Thank you again MD Services..you rock!! read more

MD Services was called for a second opinion by our Fidelity Home Warranty to inspect our AC unit that wasn't cooling. The first company that came said our AC system needed to be completely replaced. MD Services later came, on time, and told us what items to keep clean and he recharged the unit and added freon. It was working once again that same day! Twelve years ago I had problems with my air conditioner, The first repair company that came out said the whole unit needed to be replaced and left a $3600.min estimate. Wanting a second opinion I just happened to called M-D Services. MY LUCKY DAY! Danny took a look and was sure he could fix it for under $250. Twelve years later my A/C is still working good with a few good cleanings by Danny along the way. Not long after my daughter's a/c quit during a really hot spell. She called a company off the internet. They got there three days latter and told her that the unit needed to be replaced for $XXXX. and it would take a couple of weeks to get the job done. When I heard the story, I insisted she get M-D to at least bid the job. M-D Services was able to repair it for a few hundred dollars the next day. I have since acquired some rental properties that have Fidelity Home Warranties. I have told the warranty company to ONLY schedule my heater and a/c repairs with M-D services. I know they will always give me the straight scoop and never inflate the job. I have the utmost confidence in their work and complete trust in M-D Services. I only wish I could find more honest vendors like them. read more

Was called out through a warranty company to troubleshoot and repair upstairs & downstairs units. Upon arrival no tools and determined blown fuse with no replacement on service truck. The technician asked to borrow an extension chord that he used to plug the units located in the attic into another electrical outlet in the attic. Technician stated he would be back early Monday morning to replace fuse, let's just say Monday came and went with no call. We called on Tuesday to see what the status was on the repair and was notified that they would not be back out for another week. We called the warranty company back to make a formal complaint when notified the company closed out the work order saying we refused the service. We had to have another company come out and made the repair in a matter of minutes. They also mentioned using a extension chord to run an A/C unit that does not have the dedicated fuse protection at the outlet is a fire hazard and should never be done. Well at least now we know who not to call for our heating and A/C needs in the future. read more

This company has NO integrity. They were sent to me also through my home warranty ... first they disrespected my initial time frame, but then through negligence did not replace a screw in my ceiling panel and I had to file claims with my insurance company, the contractors state license board and the Better Business Bureau. If you check BBB, they are rated subpar. Be careful who you let into your home, a word to the wise. read more

I was referred to MD Services by my home warranty service and was a bit skeptical. After reading their positive review on Yelp I relaxed a bit. Once I spoke to their receptionist and made an appointment, which I was able to re-schedule with no problem, I started to become optimistic. When the friendly Tech came out and fixed my heater competently and within minutes I was completely impressed. Come to find out he's the Owner! Turns out he's a Jack of All Trades too as he was able to help me out with another totally unrelated issue I was having in my home. Talk about pride in your work. He went above and beyond the call of duty and was extremely helpful. I will continue to use and refer MD Services regardless of the home warranty. Terrible! MD Services was contracted through Fidelity Home Warranty to come and assess an air conditioning problem. The tech was scheduled to come between 9-11 am on 8/2/16. We live in a gated community and I was asked to give the gate all of the information on the service (name of company, name of tech, etc). I added it in online the day prior. The tech showed up sometime after nine and refused to show picture ID at the gate (which is standard protocol) and was therefore refused entry to the community. He called me in a rage telling me that he was not coming, would no longer do service in our neighborhood, and ranted on and on about the guard at the gate. I tried to ask if he would please reconsider (as we've been without air conditioning now for 3 weeks during a very HOT spell) and he said no, he was going to his next job and that he didn't have time for this hassle (I don't remember the exact words, but that was the gist of it). It was completely unprofessional and the tech did not consider or care about the client (us) or the fact that he accepted the job through Fidelity and had an obligation to fulfill it. He stated that he had had issues in the past entering the community, so why did he accept the job if he knew ahead of time that he would be asked for ID? 3 weeks of no air conditioning with 2 children, 2 dogs, and 2 adults has been horrendous. When pest control was checking my attic for rodents, they advised there were ashes & burned wood under the furnace, and advised me to get it looked it. I contacted my home warranty company (Fidelity), who dispatched MD Services, and I couldn't be happier! Danny came out and immediately determined there had been a fire within the furnace. The fire burned holes in the unit, which could have led to a house fire, or carbon monoxide poisoning, if we continued to use it. Danny recommended a new furnace, which was replaced within a couple of weeks (didn't need it immediately, since it's summer). The process was smooth & they cleaned up after themselves. Also, Heidi the front office person was very helpful in scheduling & advising of the process. I highly recommend this company!! read more

Our technician immediately found out what the problem was and fixed it. His customer service was great also. He gave my husband and I some friendly advice that we appreciated it. I guess it depends on a person's personality if they are able to handle a person's direct approach or not. We appreciated the small talk while our issue was being repaired. MD Services was dispatched to my house by Fidelity to deal with my heater that would not turn on. Lloyd came to the appointment, on time, and was able to diagnose the problem quickly and fix it so we could have heat again. I have an older, high quality heater and every other contractor who has been out has tried to tell me I need a new heater, even if they are not here to deal with the heater. Lloyd assured me that this heater does not need to be replaced, just cleaned very well and a piece replaced. I called Heidi at the front office (who was very nice and professional) and scheduled a cleaning and ductwork replacement. Lloyd was back out right away to get the job done and while he was under my house inspecting the ductwork, which was original to my house, he videoed isssues he say where we had major issues of leakage. Disconnected ducts, missing insulation, and crushed pipes. It's a wonder any of the cool/warm air was coming in the house. I had already obtained a few othe quotes in the past and MD Services was very competitive. The work was completed timely and the mess was cleaned up and hauled off including other debris left by prior contractors. A few days later, I got a follow up call checking to make sure everything was ok. Customer service was superior, workmanship was amazing and I am very appreciative of how smoothly the whole process went. I will be requesting MD Services for any future needs for sure. read more

My home warranty company had this company come out to check my furnace. It is located on the roof so anytime it rained, water leaked down my wall from the thermostat wires. No water in the walls, only in the tube containing the wires. I was told by MD Services that if it was raining, he couldn't go up to the roof (which is understandable). So he came when it was dry outside. Well, no evidence of water since it wasn't raining. The guy was very rude and said in his over 40 years of working hadn't seen anything like that then left. I sent the company an email with a picture when it rained and said I wouldn't run the heater with water touching the wires. The response, "your heating system works so it is fine." Stupid! It could cause a short or a fire. I complained to the home warranty company and they sent a second HVAC company out. That 20 year old boy found the leak point in less than 15 minutes and my problem was solved. He even found a ladder on the outside of the building so didn't need to traipse all over my place with his dirty shoes (which first guy didn't notice). Only reason one star is the lady on the phone, April, was nice when I called to schedule. DON'T bother with this company. read more

Don't waste your time with this guy. He's a first class jerk. Our home warranty company (Fidelity) made us use him when our AC unit stopped working When he came, I was at work unfortunately. He told my wife the way we had programmed our thermostat was "stupid." He also initiated a conversation about solar and said our decision to lease instead of purchase the solar panels was also "stupid." When I heard what he said, I called and left a message asking him to return my call. No response. After I called the office again, he finally returned my call. When I asked him why he thought the way we programmed our thermostat was "stupid," he backpedalled and said what he actually said is that the way the thermostat was designed was stupid (that is not what he said). He then went into a rant about leasing vs. buying solar panels based on the experience of one of his neighbors. When I suggested (politely) that he soften his tone with customers, his response said it all. He said, "yeah, I'll do that," and hung up on me. Immediately after being hung up on, I called MD Services and left a message that our call was cut short and asked that he call me back. No call. This guy clearly doesn't care what his customers think of him. This is not an isolated event, either. I suggest you read the reviews of the people whose ratings were not counted in the 4-star rating for this company (based on only 4 reviews). If you factor those in, the average rating is more like 1-2 stars, which is still too high if you ask me. AC repairmen are a dime a dozen in the East Bay; don't waste your time on this clown. I called Fidelity to register a complaint about him and they told me they would continue to use him despite my complaint. If you have Fidelity and they try to stick you with this guy, object and get someone else (they can't force you to use him). Fidelity says if this happens enough times, they'll remove him from their approved vendor list. Update: after I posted this review, it appears MD Services solicited fake reviews from friends to improve their score and call me out personally for my negative review. Yelp removed the most obvious fake reviews, but allowed some to remain. To all of his friends who made up fake reviews to bring his average score higher, I appreciate honesty, I don't appreciate jerks when there are plenty of better companies out there who can do the job and be professional. I have Fidelity Home Protection insurance purchased and they sent me Danny from MD Services for problem with my furnace's "short cycles", which wasn't correctly repaired by contactor -Danny, sent by Fidelity. After that visit I learned all I could ( I an a mechanical engineer) on "youtube" about my furnace problems and did try to replace the thermostat on my 2-nd floor. That didn't fix the problem, so I didn't try to replace 1-st floor thermostat. Since I had no confidence whatsoever that MD services contractor Danny ever fix the furnace, who talked about everything but DIDNT bring clamp meter with him and replaced "limit switch" just by guessing. And most important he replaced that switch , which had max limit-160 degree F with 210 degree F!!! Its 40% higher and certainly would hurt the furnace and believe me I know what I am talking about. I made req. for manufacture authorized local dealer -Black Diamond's service and I've heard form Mike, working for Black Diamond next day. He patiently spent 20 min with me trying to assist in possible problem and provided me with price for part/labor for each possibility. His price was 40% lower than I paid for my Reno townhouse furnace repair with similar trouble. After we tentatively scheduled an appointment, I decided to replace the 1-st floor thermostat , since Mike mentioned it by the one of main reasons for my trouble and it started work perfectly after I put a new one. So, Mike not only didn't try to push in my throat their service, but actually helped me to save hundreds for next visit. I found it extremely rare in contractor's world we are living in. Danny is awesome! He's far surpassed kindness of any servicing I've ever had done on my home. He is extremely knowledgable! We called for our home warranty and they sent him out. I had actually forgot that my appt was scheduled and I was not home. I was taking my daughter to cheer. Danny was kind enough to wait 25 min for me to return home. When I returned he was in very high spirits and helped me fix my AC unit. He also informed my husband and I about the filters that we've been using .. We had nooo idea we had a filter in the unit already while we've also put two in the home. He explain which options were most effective. It's been a year since MD Services installed our new tankless water heater and energy efficient A/C and furnace and we couldn't be happier. It's always hard to tell if a company's great service will continue once the job is done, so I wanted to write an update to let you all know how how happy we are with MD Services continued care and responsiveness. Last summer, during a HUGE heat wave, our A/C wasn't getting as cold as we liked. We called them up and they came out the next day to check it out. I know they must have been really busy, it is usually impossible to get an A/C repair company to come out during a heat wave, but they didn't hesitate. They quickly found and fixed the problem without issue and we were back to having a super cold A/C again! We were so relieved that after a year they still gave us the same high integrity and quality work that they did during the installation. To top it off, they also send me emails to remind me to change our filters. It is clear that they really care about their customers. Also, I don't want to forget to mention that the energy efficient products they installed work BETTER than our old energy guzzlers AND cut our energy bill in HALF!! They will end up paying for themselves in no time! After a year, we still couldn't be happier with MD Services and the products they recommended. read more

MD services has a gross lack of competence and customer service. This company was called to my home to check my heater which was not working. The first technician that was sent to my home found a part needed to be replaced, part replaced heater stopped working again. Did recall another part needed to be replaced, part replaced heater stopped working again. Did a recall tech came out stated heater was working fine. The heater was not working at all, heater would not turn on so MD services due to their lack of competence requested to have another company come out and look at our heater. The second company came out replaced a few parts heater is working great. The customer service is lacking as well as the technicians as I had called MD services to get the names of the parts that were replaced by them to tell the new company, the lady that answers the phone stated she would call me back and never did. My experiences with MD Services have been horrible! I DO NOT RECOMEND them to any person that is looking for support with air-conditioning needs or heating needs. My home warranty company uses their services for HVAC needs. It is a family run business, that you would think would pride themselves on good customer service, but instead it is the absolute opposite. The son, showed up at the house and was very friendly and spent about 20 minutes diagnosing the problem (perfectly acceptable). He stated it was my circut board that was fried, they ordered the part, I waited several days then the daugther calls and gives me a window of 8 am to 10 am. After I called around 9:30 to verify the son or father was coming out here, she said yes, and he is on the way. At 10:10 I called back again, and asked when was someone going to show up, she replied, oh I thought they were on their way let me call again. I did not receive any phone calls back from her, I was the one who had to follow up. The father showed up at 10:22 am, by this time, I need to leave shortly for work. He installed the circut board after proceeding to tell me that he hates this brand of AC units, and had a negative attitude. The air appeared to work, and then I left for work. I got home from work, and my house was HOT still! I called the warranty company out and they dispatched them again to come out. My appointment this time was for 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. I called at 4:45 pm, and she said, that yes, they were still coming, I said great. Then she calls me back and says that her father was there at 4:10 pm and left a note on my door. I was home in the backyard and did not hear the door, nor did I receive a phone call from him or the office (as business usually call if no-one answers the door). I went and opened the door while she was on the phone and saw the note. She said her dad did call me, which is a LIE, as I had my phone on me the entire day, not once did the father (the owner) call my phone to say he was at my house. I'm extremely dissapointed in their service and the fact that they would out right LIE to their customers. The father said he had another job 5 minutes away (but said it was across town) and could not come back to my home in the same day and would have to reschedule...really, did you just LIE to me and now you are not going to solve my air conditioning issue (since it has been going on over a week and a half)! Again, POOR POOR customer service, when my window was technically until 6 pm, so they did have the time to come back, but chose not to! They only work M-F 8 am to 5pm, they will not answer at 5, not even a minute over! Do not expect a call back when they say they will call you, you have to be pro-active and call yourself. BUT, isnt it interesting that the daugther has responded to all of the YELP postings within a good amount of time...perhaps if phone calls were returned instead of answering yelp post, this would increase their cusomter service rating. Bottomline, I have wasted my time and money. I have lost out of several hours at work and had to go without pay AND I'm still sitting in a HOT house! They do not care for their customers, which is sad! I like to support family run business, as I have one myself. However, they need to build their skill set on how to run a business with their customers in mind. read more

showed up over 45 min late so i wasnt home wouldnt come out the next day to fix the problem. didnt seem to care at all over the phone
