Came to Me+Crepe on Wednesday morning with my husband. There was no line at all, but the restaurant was almost packed around 9:45am. It seems like this restaurant just opened a couple of days ago with lots of grand opening flowers and decorations. Although it doesn't have a spacious space, we felt very warm and clean when we walked in. Crepe is called Jianbing in Chinese. It is one of the most traditional and popular street food in China. There were different options for us to choose on the menu, we got one BBQ Pork and one Souryuu Crepes, they were served fast and very tasty. At begging my husband felt it was a little pricy compared with in Beijing. 2 crepes+ 1 tofu soup+we tipped well for grand opening= $30. I told him we should be grateful for the owner who is trying to introduce Chinese culture and food to Americans and those global tourists who came to Pasadena. California has minimum wage $14/hour, plus the high rental. When you had $6 oolong tea at our neighbor Intelligentsia coffee have you ever questioned with $6 how much loose tea you may get from China? Finally my husband agreed that we should never compare the quality and price at here with the greasy street food in China. If you miss the traditional ethnic Chinese crepe, you should not miss Me+ Crepe. If you are expecting $1 crepe, please get a flight ticket and enjoy it in Beijing. Real good "crepes" ... savory and delicious with good ingredients and great texture. Duck and Beef options are delicious. Pick your spice level, but be careful :) We went during soft opening and they were training and food takes a little while to come out, but totally worth it. Order ahead if you are in a rush. Slightly more expensive than you would think, but worth it to me because the flavors are really good. Quaint and clean seating area. They didn't have much water and some lame reason for not having, so hopefully they fix that. I will be going many times again to try more stuff and see how this place does. read more

The jianbing is pretty authentic. It makes me miss Beijing. Three minor suggestions: 1. as a breakfast place, opening at 9am is too late, consider 7:30am? 2. Mild spicy is still a touch too spicy. 3. Tucked between Dog Haus and Copa Vida, I would've overlooked this gem if not for the heavy traffic at its pick-up counter. We had the beef sausage and crawfish chilled noodles. Dang...immediate regret! Why did we wait so long? Best way to describe it would be like Igor (from Ratatouille) traveling down memory lane with each bite. It's been 3 days and I'm still nostalgic of the flavors that remind me of the street stands at the night market. The chilled noodles in a bowl may appear small in portion, but it is typical serving. And for good reasons because it's quite dense in flavors and content. The crepes, though, are generous in portion, served in that traditional paper wrap. Crunchy, savory, juicy and mouthwatering... Not worth it at all!!! I saw the good reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I respect others' reviews but honestly I don't know why people gave 5 stars on such terrible food quality. I would have given 0 stars if Yelp had that option. I ordered the Braised Pork Rib bento and it was literally the worst bento I've ever had. Bento contains 90% rice and only 10% topping. The pork was salty and hard as a rock and it tasted like leftover meat from 2 days ago. Peking duck crepe was JUST OK, still edible but I was not a big fan of it. Its my first time to get food from this place. My expertise is average because the food is not as good as what I expect. Personally, I don't like really sweet beverage. The soybean mil is good sweet. I really like it, but the size is too small. Beef benton is below average. Maybe it's because I don't like the spice of the beef and the green beans. The dumpling (Gyoza) and crepe are okay. Overall: Very yummy traditional Chinese crepe. The ingredients and flavor are both pretty authentic, only missing the real Chinese sauce. Food: I ate it as lunch and feel pretty full, but I know some people see it as a snack. I ordered the bbq pork one, and it's super delicious. My bf ordered a traditional, not as yummy but also tasty. Environment: cute shop with about 20 capacity. The place looks clean and has music playing. Parking: is a pain.... only street parking is available and pretty hard to find a a rainy day. At first I was going to talk about the service, but we all know what we really want to see in a yelp review is about the food and the price! ;) I waited 20 minutes for my crepe at 9:30am on a Sunday morning. I was expecting to get in and get out, but there was only one girl making crepes (one at a time). It'd be different if I waited that long because the place was packed, but there were 3 people ahead of me and it just took forever. I got the origin bing with fried pork and the chips because they were out of the donut for $8.16. After 20 minutes, I could feel the heat coming through the paper holder they put the crepe in. At first bite I felt like the pancake was a bit plain, but the pork definitely added a ton of flavor! Unlike Japanese crepes that are crunchy, Chinese crepes resemble soft pancakes (or moreso like French crepes). Overall, I'd have it again! It was definitely hard to eat while driving but I would've enjoyed it sitting down! read more

TL:DR - The BBQ pork crepe is tasty, but for the amount of food, it's not worth the price. ---------- Chinese savory crepe or better known as "jian bing" is a popular street food in China. Similar to it's French origins, the jian bing uses an eggy-dough wrap, but unlike it's French counterpart, it encases meat, green onions, sauce, and other goodies. The end product is a tasty little pouch packed with flavor. At Me + Crepe they offer quite a few different options from BBQ pork, to peking duck, to foie gras. I went with the classic BBQ pork and it was ok. The dough had a nice consistency to it, and you could really taste the egg. This paired really well with the sauce that was spread across the pork and on the inside of the crepe. The pork itself though was a little dry and chewy, so every time I bit into it, I looked like a crocodile biting into a piece of meat, rolling over and over until it tore apart. Overall, the crepe was good, nothing to write home about, but the price is a real sticking point for me, $10.40 (after tax) ouch. I get that they are offering a specialty food that you would have to drive to the 626 for, but the amount of food given is about the same as a small banh mi. It's not very filling, and it is more of a snack food than an actual meal. That being said, if you haven't tried jian bing before, you should definitely try Me + Crepe. read more

Great jiang bing! These are pretty hard to find in the US, and for some reason people here usually stick hot dogs and cheese in them, which is weird and not good. These are done right though: chewy thin, eggy wrappers around innovative and tasty fillings. I tried the pork belly and peking duck ones. The pork was maybe a tiny bit dry, but very well-flavored. Peking duck sauce and fillings work remarkably well in a jiang bing. The bing come very hot and retain heat surprisingly well. I kept having to switch hands so that they wouldn't burn me through the wrappers. As of today, they're open until 9pm every day instead of just 3pm. It's too bad I'm moving away in a couple of weeks. read more

I've only gone during lockdown but their service is good. I had to call in to order & staff was very polite, also attentive about any add ons for spice. They wear masks & gloves when handling food but remove it to process payment (super important!). The door has a block in the front so you can't enter but can ring a bell to notify you're there for pickup. They packed all my items tightly to be ok for transit. She even sealed my milk cup & tucked it in. Contactless payment in the form of cash or Venmo was offered to us so we did that. They do take credit cards. Parking is abundant on the sides with meters. But bring change. The parking app did not work today & they don't accept card. Just coins or the app. 15 cents got us 10 minutes, which was just enough time to pickup. There is also a no parking zone in front of them that some people parked in real quick if you want to risk it but police drove by often so decide for yourself. The lot ahead of them was closed today. Food was really flavorful. The cumin lamb bento has no sauce but didn't need it. It's a good of amount of lamb & corn with cucumber. A lot of rice. The Peking duck crepe was really good, especially in terms of meat to crepe ratio. The medium spicy was barely any heat for me but I do like spicy food. What an interesting take on the Chinese crepe or popiah. I got the golden tuna, which I didn't think I would like because there is a thing as too much tuna, but I really enjoyed it. This was such a great hole in the wall! Was looking for a breakfast place and the Peking duck crepe piqued my interest! The Peking duck crepe had complex flavor, some fresh veggies and the perfect amount of spice. You even get soybean milk if you check in which was great after the spice. My boyfriend got a pork belly crepe and he loved how meaty it was. Both were a hearty and delicious breakfast! It's right next to Copa Vida so you can easily grab a coffee after. read more

The price is on the steep side considering its in pasadena but for the portion size i think its worth it. If you're looking for something a little different and new for breakfast/lunch, this place hits the spot. This place exists only in Pasadena and Vancouver and Jiang bing is a popular street food in China. Basically Jiang Bing is a Chinese style crepe filled with egg, green onion, cilantro and meat. You can build your own or go with their speciality ones. I went with the original, added the chinese donut and dried pork flakes and cucumber. The hubs went with the signature, Souryuu which is beef sausage with japanese mayo. I checked in to get a free hot soy milk (score!) and received our crepes in a matter of about 10 minutes. They make it to order so it does take a while, but they are friggin' ginormous when they come out! Since I added the donut to mine, I could barely hold it in the sleeve as my precious items were slipping out, but I made it work by gripping it tight and sunk my teeth in with all my jaw might. It was sweet, chewy, salty and crunchy and very satisfying with their hot oil sauce. The other crepe seemed like it was missing something but nonetheless my husband said it was tasty. I mean he likes any kind of meat filled burrito (not what you're thinking!) so he ate the whole thing within a matter of minutes. We were stuffed beyond meat pies and as we were leaving, the place got really busy fast. I definitely recommend coming earlier in the day to avoid crowds, but since it is a hand held food and meant to be eaten on the streets, you can easily take it to go and walk around Pasadena. Ever since I've seen Facebook videos of jianbing being made in Beijing, I have been trying my best to find the most tasty jianbing that I can. So far, Me + Crepe is definitely winning. When I went to Me + Crepe, I did my research on Yelp and I knew I was going to get the Double Down jianbing. This comes with BBQ Pork and BBQ Duck (the best of both worlds). And I really enjoyed the combination and flavors of the two meats. If you're a meat eater, I definitely recommend this one. The jianbing tasted so fresh and was so warm. Note: If you wait too long to eat, your jianbing will get soggy (learned the hard way from a different jianbing place)! For a couple of extra dollars, I opted to do the soymilk and tea infused egg add on. Honestly, this was pretty disappointing. They don't give you very much soymilk, especially if you take it to-go. The tea egg was so tiny! Compared to other tea eggs I've had, the ones at Me + Crepe were not infused long enough. The flavor was definitely lacking in the egg. If I were to come back, I would definitely get the Double Down jianbing again without the extra soymilk/tea egg add-on. read more

I love jianbing and this one was decent. Not the best I've had, but I'd eat it again if I was really craving it. Location is a little hole in the wall, not too much seating, we ordered at the counter, lots of Chinese on the menu but they also have an English version and photos. I came in the afternoon so it was fast. I got the Peking duck jianbing with spicy sauce--my mistake was choosing the spicy sauce because it had a lot of cumin that masked the delicious Peking duck flavor. I also had to add some hoisin sauce. But otherwise the portion is quite large, my friend and I split one and we were plenty full. Great location - next to Copa Vida so convenient to park in the school house parking structure - and fun and tasty concept in a cute shop. It seemed as though they're brand new since the bentos weren't available and the some of the employees didn't seem to know where things went. Service wasn't impressive (didn't greet, we felt like we asked for napkins, water dispenser was empty, our order came out in weird batches), no bathroom, food came out a bit slow. Biggest barrier to us, though, were the prices - $10+ per person for essentially slow fast food? While I liked the chewiness of the "crepe" (I think technically it's a bing?), soy milk was fresh, and it seemed like it was authentic (we were the only English-speaking people in there, which was weird since it's in Old Town Pasadena), probably and sadly won't be back due to prices and service. read more

Super tasty! I ordered 3 of them delivered. They're good even when cold, I can't wait for everything to open back up so I can try it fresh and hot :) I'm glad I came to the yelp page to read the reviews for all the flavors. My favorite option was a custom from one of the yelp reviews. That one is the original, sausage, an extra egg, medium spicy sauce, (you have to ask for this in the comment section as I didn't see a specific option for this) SO GOOD! Also, get it with the "chip". You can swap it out with a donut instead, again, you have to put that in the comment section as it may not specify on the delivery order. My 2nd favorite was the pork and duck one. Very savory, the sweetness of the pork and savory duck work so well together. The hoisin or Peking duck sauce they use is a nice sweet-salty touch, too. It doesn't need any extra toppings. 3rd flavor is the beef and cheese. They use super-thin shabu-shabu cuts of beef with a bit of cheese in it. This one is the most like a "burger" so if you go with a friend who isn't used to jianbing or they really just wanted a burger instead, tell them to get this one. I highly recommend you "burger it up", add lettuce, salsa, guac. Otherwise, it'll taste too plain by itself. read more

I stumbled upon this cute little shop and was intrigued by the concept... Chinese savory crepes?? They have specials each day of the week, so I got the special for the day which was Tuna Crepe! The cashier was friendly, recommending popular crepes like the Peking ducky one! I sat down after I ordered and my crepe was ready in about 5 mins! The tuna crepe was so flavorful with different textures! The egg and tuna really came together, and it was a hearty meal. They added a crunchy fried wonton skin type thing in my crepe. Yum!! Friendly staff in this nice n new location for Me + Crepe! I haven't been to any others before, and I was excited to eat jianbing, which is like a folded egg crepe Chinese cousin to a breakfast burrito. I ate them in Guangzhou, China during business trips. Usually it was street food sold off the back of a bicycle or a small cart... awesome way to start the day. I loved the simple one with egg, sauce, crunchy bits, luncheon meat. I was really excited to find a jian bing place especially being born and growing up here in LA and watching all the authentic china food vids. This place is located in the heart of Pasadena, so it was quite a drive for me, about 30ish minutes or so, with traffic a bit more. Being in Pasadena, expect a metered parking. But i was determined to finally try out the infamous jian bing! This shop is pretty small, but its the cute little shop kind. It has a cafe kind of feel, but after having one whole crepe to myself, I felt that it was a bit filling to be just a snack. Now about the crepe itself, I am very sad to say I was disappointed. Disappointed enough to make this visit my last one. The filling wasn't too bad, but I felt like they drenched the sauce so much that it was overwhelming and that was all I tasted. I added some you tiao in it also, and since I couldn't help but watch how they made the whole thing, I was turned off when I saw they just grabbed a box of premade you tiaos. So I wasn't surprised when I bit into the jian bing to find that the you tiao tasted stale! :( I chose the duck combo, so it was a bit pricy.
