I came here after picking up a friend from the airport based on the 4-stars on Yelp: - Service: cashier was super nice and polite. Placing the order, making the transaction, and receiving our meals was easy and pleasant - Food: we ordered the appetizer combo plate, falafel wrap, lamb and beef gyro wrap and french fries. Nothing really stellar...For example, the appetizer combo plate consisted of hummas, Tzatziki, baba ganoush, grape leaves, falafel and tabbouleh...all which were bland; it lacked any decernable flavor. The same applied for the rest of our meals. Have I had better mediterranean food? YES. Where? In San Mateo, a place where parking is no near as cumbersome as Burlingame. - Interior: very nice and clean with tall ceilings. Outdoor seating is also available. read more

Casual joint for lunch. It's not rave-worthy, but it's good. Hummus is a little runny and the pita doesn't open into a pocket... but more importantly the food tastes great, is consistently fresh, and *seems?* fairly healthy. The thinly sliced red turnips were a bonus. And you get a thimble of creamy hummus. The piece of pita bread, while fresh was very bland, doughy and slightly sweet. Previously 4 stars, but the service has been so atrocious as of late to warrant an update. I waited 30+ min for takeout during the lunch rush. While that normally would not have warranted the downgrade in the review, there are two reasons for the downgrade. - The girl in line wanted to order something, but was talked out of it because it was a 10 min wait. The cashier told them to order the #14 instead which is "really fast" - I order the #14 with a side of fries, expecting it to be "really fast" - over the next 15 min, people who order after met get their food much quicker - 15 min later, a bag with what appears to be a #14 is there. I'm told I can't get it yet - Another 15 min later, fries get put into that bag. No one calls it out - 10 min later I finally go up to get a refund, and magically this bag is now mine and ready for takeout There are multiple problems with this: - Don't have people change their order because something is going to be "really fast" only for it not to be fast - If they had given me the option of just grab my gyro and go and not wait another 15 min for fries, I would have happily just gone without fries - Even once my food was ready, no one called it out The result? A lamb gyro that was cold. Worse, the gyro was dry and cracker like. I used to really like this place but there are just too many better options in Burlingame to have to settle for this. read more

I have only eaten here once, but it is pretty much like Hummus in San Mateo. Some of the gyro was juicy other pieces crispy; I prefer the inside cut, so juicy and tender. The pita was dry but sweet. The salad, rice, and sauce were pretty average along with the prices for this type of cuisine. Your order at the counter, they give you a number, and drop off your food, so not much in the way of service. The Turkish/Greek-inspired menu is full of colorfully-plated, delicious dishes--on my visit, I got the appetizer combo plate, which came with smooth, creamy dreamy hummus, a delicious tomato-eggplant spread, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh topped with chunks of feta cheese, herb-filled tzatziki, crispy falafel, briny dolma, and one of my favorites, the fried phyllo cigarette pastries, which were stuffed with an unbelievable mixture of dried herbs and feta cheese! I also tried the combo grilled seafood plate, which came with grilled salmon, meaty swordfish, and large shrimp, along with salad, red cabbage, and the most surprisingly flavorful rice, which had a slightly sticky texture. It was empty enough that tables were easily thrown together to accommodate us. Our friends ordered a mix of delicious & fresh-looking items: dolmas, falafel, salad topped with lamb & beef gyros, shish kebab, etc. My bf & I both ordered Mediterranean Plate #29, chicken kebab ($10.95) served with salad, yogurt, pita & rice. Their rice was buttery & fluffy, a detail quite appreciated by many in our group! Everything was great: thin triangles of pita perfect for wrapping around protein, juicy chunks of chicken & yogurt with a not-too-thick consistency. My wife and I are beyond obsessed with this restaurant. It's our new go to spot and we are obsessed with the grub. First and foremost, the service. It's fantastic! The folks that work here are on top of things and do a really good job of helping us understand the menu items. I know I can't possibly be the only dude who stares up at the menu with question marks dancing in my head. When I have questions, I feel embarrassed asking, but I also feel the adventure taking place on my taste buds. Falafel is an item I have always wanted to try but never really had the chance. I had it at a spot featured on Triple D and it was not a good experience. At this spot, it's pretty awesome and the kid in me gets giddy asking the lady for some falafel balls. Chicken Gyros plate is our new ab fab go to entree. Super tasty, well seasoned, moist chicken and easily one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. Lamb & Beef Gyros is an excellent runner up and the lamb is not too gamey. I know that's an issue for non lamb fans. The spicy hot sauce is a thing of beauty. Excellent addition to the well seasoned meats and pretty addictive. Overall this is a truly excellent place to dine and I am hopeful that we don't wear it down because that's typically how we roll. They were missing a few ingredients. No tomatoes. No onions. No cucumbers. *Sad* To add insult to injury, the chicken wasn't seasoned and was severely bland. The tasty morsels of meat and fresh veggies all rolled up in the warm, soft pita bread tapped into my ravenous appetite immediately. Decided to head down to Burlingame for lunch today and most of the restaurants we wanted to go to were packed. We walked past Mediterranean Kebab and was hesitant at first about eating here because of it's fast food feel. There were 2 other people in there so that made us even more wary. For some reason, we agreed we'd go in and try it. We went up to the counter and ordered an appetizer hummus, two falafel balls and a Mediterranean combo plate consisting of lamb/beef gyro, shish kebab, chicken kebab & kofte kebab served with rice, salad and pita. We sat down at a table and all of a sudden, more people started coming in and the place started filling up with sit-down customers and to-go customers as well. When the food arrived, everything tasted really good but the standout for me were the falafels. I have to say the falafels were one of the best I've ever eaten!!! I've had many dried out falafels in the past but these were crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. And they tasted delicious!! I regretted only ordering two of them so we decided to order another two more halfway through our meal. Aside from the yummy food, service was outstanding!! The guy who took our order and served us our food (I assume he's the owner) was super nice! We asked him what Baba Ghanoush was and he offered us a sampled plate so we could try it. And when we went up to the counter to order the extra two falafels, the owner didn't charge us for them!!! They didn't cost a lot but that gesture was so nice so we gave them an extra tip. It's dinner time again. After rolling around the San Francisco area, we came into the Burlingame city and found this Mediterranean food stop. Walking along the this shopping/food strip is very clean and well kept. Stepping into the restaurant holds true to this stature. It is not a large place but gives the home-like appeal, kind of like a coffee shop. That lets me know that this place is legit! I order #15, the Chicken Gyro. On the outside it looks like a saltine cracker burrito wrapped in foil! (I just telling you how it is). It turned out delicious for my first one ever. This is a cool spot with a soft atmosphere. This is a solid 3.5 stars. Don't get me wrong, I rather enjoy MK but after reading the other rave reviews, I wanted to bring the average rating down a little bit to more to accurately reflect my opinion of this place. The falaffel wrap (minus the yogurt sauce) is the highlight of their menu; HOWEVER, as a warning the potential vegan customers... the falafel does have a slight after taste that might suggest the deep fryer contains or comes into contact with meat. That lack of seperation does make me a little uncomfortable but for the average vegetarian you will find several interesting options. It is difficult to convey your order to the cashier at times depending on if his friends are distracting him or how well he is paying attention. Coupled with not repeating or clarifying your order means that 1 in 5 visits will mean some sort of mistake (out of 9 visits... 2 of which had botched orders.) These aside, MK has a fighting chance in my opinion. Prices are reasonable and the menu seems user friendly enough so that even the average restaurant patron can feel confident about trying a potentially new and interesting lunch time possibility. read more
