My boyfriend and I decided to try this place the other day since A Ri Rang was packed. It's a brand new skewer place that took over Yoshino's! We walked in and they told us to have a seat anywhere. They immediately came by with water as well. The system they use is similar to a place down Garfield. Basically you scan the QR code and order directly from the kitchen. Then the servers come by and place your skewers down on this metal sheet. Things I really enjoyed: The enoki in the tin foil - Although it was submerged in oil, the flavor was good and the enoki has a lot of crunch. The lamb - Out of all the meats, lamb was the most worth it. Texture was good and it was seasoned so well. The clam with garlic and vermicelli - Hands down my favorite. The garlic on top made this flavorful. The clam itself did nothing. The seasoned garlic paste they put on top stole the show. The squid - Hands down my FAVORITE thing on the menu. It's flavorful, it's crunchy, the texture is just right. The dumplings - It's dumplings. The price is good to get you full. Things that were so so: The beef tongue - Seasoned well, but so little and not worth the price. The mushrooms - They were kind of wet, which makes sense, but they used small oyster mushrooms that weren't that great. Corn - Good but just not worth. It was just corn and the salted cumin seasoning on it. It was like 1/3 the corn. Gizzards - Crunchy but lacking in so much flavor compared to everything else. The service is so so. They have a self serve little mini buffet area that really doesn't have anything great. Try if you wanna. Maybe it was really new and they're just getting the hang of things, who knows? There was an issue with our skewer order since it didn't get printed out, but our scallop and our enoki dish did come out even though all of them were ordered at the same time. We were waiting for 20-25 minutes for our skewers because of that. When we received our skewers, I noticed the squid skewers weren't as cooked. Came here on Saturday night. This place is very popular, and almost full. We were lucky that there was no line. There is a QR code on the table. Customers can view the menu and order online after scanning the QR code. Servers will deliver the food when it is ready. The food took a while to prepared. It is probably because the restaurant was busy. They offered complimentary snacks, fruits, and dessert. My favorite is the crispy chips and spicy peanuts. They were a little spicy, but I was able to handle. We tried beef, chicken skin, chicken hearts, chicken gizzards, pork, corn, and toast. Late night Chinese bbq with drinks. Most of their staff don't speak English fluently. It's loud and chaotic. They have an appetizer bar that has random stuff like chicken feet, fried wonton strips, chinese dessert... love their grill oysters, the beef is a hit or miss because sometimes you get a lot of fatty chewy pieces. The lamb is flavorful. You need to try their mushrooms, chives, and eggplants. You order everything through the QR code on the table. This skewers spot is inexpensive and tasty. Although prices have gone up, it is still very much affordable for a night out. Come for happy hour if you want discounted drinks. If you're here for the food, you cannot skip the chicken wings, squid legs, or the pork skewers. Depending on the night, it could be dead quiet or packed. Service is generally quick. They have an unlimited self serve bar for you to chomp on before your skewers come out which is a very nice touch. Although the name says BBQ, I think their main attraction would be the grilled fish. They had 2 options on the menu, but only offered one type of fish, starting at $40. Each extra add on (potatoes, bean sprouts etc) was $3.50, and wasn't a lot. Their skewers are pretty good. Their decor is very modern, but if you've been to Nice to Meet U, I personally wished it had more of a Chinese vibe. The grilled fish was ordered with a few add ons with mild spice. It came decently quick, was crispy and flavorful, but overall felt smaller in size compared to other places roast fish places. The add ons stacked up quick in price; $3.50 for a couple of potatoes slices is quite expensive, so I'd suggest you guys limit the add ons to a few and order other things from their menu. I also ordered some lamb skewers, which were $6 for 4, are pretty expensive. You'd have a much better deal at other chinese BBQ places. The scallops were also overpriced, iirc it was $6-8 for 2 scallops with vermicelli...? One positive I have is that they have a small buffet with snacks, like candies and peanuts. The service was pretty good. Our mobile data was slow at scanning the QR code so they gave us a paper menu to order from. The servers all spoke English and Chinese. To sum up, this place can get pricey fast with the add ons and other side dishes. If you'd like to eat only roast fish, only skewers, etc, there are restaurants with better pricing available. However, as a package of roast fish + skewer, this place takes the cake. Everything else was well seasoned, especially the cucumber salad. The cumber salad is a must order, spicy and refreshing at the same time. Compared to xinjiang bbq and little skewer, I would say little skewer is still number one. I would rate this place above xinjiang in terms of the quality of the food. The service was great and our food came out quickly. The restaurant had a mini snack bar which included chips, candy and fruit. I would come back again! Not sure what else I can say other than I LOVE SKEWERS. I may be biased just because this is one of the first places I've been to that specialized mainly in serving skewers, but Meet U BBQ is by far my favorite skewer place to eat. Been coming here almost weekly for the past month just because nothing says the weekend better than beer and skewers on a Friday night. There are usually a decent amount of people seated already coming around 8pm, but we've never needed to wait more than 5-10 min (if at all) for a party of 2. You order by scanning the QR code on the table which brings you to their webpage that you are able to order directly from. The servers are all really attentive and do a good job of bringing your items fresh right when they're ready. I like the fact you can order right when you get seated and start eating without much of a wait. We will usually order the beef tongue, chicken skin, pork belly, and fried squid which come out 4 per stick and are pretty filling. Some other honorable mentions we order are the sausage, aorta, and enoki mushrooms. They also have a small buffet corner that you can pick up sides on your own including a variety of salty snacks (peanuts, wontons), seaweed, and fruits. Note if you're sensitive to salt, may want to balance with some rice since they pre-season and cook the skewers for you. Not much more to say other than this place just has great tasting skewers paired up with good vibes and beer towers. The food was decent. Just a heads up, if you bring a group of over 10 people to this spot, they'll add an 18% gratuity to your bill automatically. The issue is, in my experience, when dining out with a large group, the gratuity is usually calculated before tax, not after. I ended up paying more than expected. Simply nasty. The worst BBQ I've ever had. They load a nasty combination of CUMIN and spicy pepper on top of all their meats. Literally every BBQ meat tasted the same... spicy, salty, cumin. The chicken skin was inedible... tasteless, greasy, and gross. The beef would have been good, if not for tasting purely of cumin. The seafood dish was a lie. I ordered MILD and it came out bright red and drenched on chili oil. But the photo on the menu doesn't show ANY chili oil on it. I don't hate many restaurants, but this is one meal I actually hated. Service was terrible. One item was brought out every 5 minutes. What an annoying way to eat. Our neighbor sat down after us, but they got served all their food in rapid succession. Clearly they don't know how to manage the kitchen. There was a single waitress for the entire restaurant. She was running around like crazy and barely gave us service. We had to ask twice just for extra napkins. Worst of all, the dishes were dirty with old food specs, and chipped on the edges. I checked 3 sets of dishes on the table and all 3 were dirty AND chipped. How does a 2 month old restaurant have broken plastic dishware already? Why can't they clean their dishes properly? Meet you BBQ is a sad excuse for a restaurant. Overpriced too. $38 for a child's serving of meat and Veggies. The eggplant was the only food that was good, but it lacked salt and was excessively greasy. Unless you're a diehard cumin lover, and you like dirty dishes and small portion sizes, don't waste your time or money. I actually got a headache that lasted all day as soon as I finished eating here. Probably from the chafing fuel used to heat all the fish entrees. Most of the skewers do taste the same with the same seasoning and I felt like meat pieces were very small than other places less than bite sized (~3cm). Customers seat and order themselves through a QR code. It took more than 20 minutes for our first item to come out to the table. After the first item came the server then started to help us getting waters and plates for our party. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Tuesday night and was very loud as more people came. This location did have a few good dishes, along with a "snack bar" for some interesting bites while you wait for your food. I was told the fish is one of the dishes to get, but we were only in for a late night bite, so we didn't order it. The pork fried rice was decent. It had a nice wok-hei to it. Spicy Enoki was tasty and had a nice spice (low heat for those accustomed to it, mid to high heat for those that don't dabble in the spicy arts). Skewers: my favorites were the chicken wings, corn, and leeks (technically not a skewer). The beef was ok and the beef tongue was a bit off (a long piece skewered across the stick). Chicken skin was very crispy but lacked flavor. This is definitely a good place to have a drink with snacks, or a few bites after a late night out.
