I know, I know, who goes to Little Italy for a Taiwanese Beef Noodle? However I was intrigued by the restaurant's location and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is located inside of Little Italy Food Hall alongside with other food vendors such as pizza, tacos and burgers. The menu is quite diverse, from traditional chow mein, to pad thai, ramen, kimchi fry rice and Singaporean rice noodle. Covering pretty much all East Asian food spectrum. The staff (2 older gentlemen who probably are the owners) were very friendly and attentive and the order was ready in about 10 minutes. I chose Taiwanese Beef Noodle because it was something I do not eat often compared to other dishes and it did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the meat was tender, the broth was well seasoned and slightly spicy (giving a mild tingling numbness to the mouth). I might try their other dishes when we stop by Little Italy again.

Just got off the plane and was looking for something quick, so I popped into the Little Italy food hall, and saw other people with Mein St. food and decided to give it a go. I went with the general tso's chicken bento box which came with rice and gyoza. I also added a couple of cream cheese wontons for an additional $2. They asked how spicy I wanted from a scale of 1-10, and went with a 6. The portion size was generous, however the dish was a little too sweet for my liking, I think if I went spicy, I would've enjoyed it more, however not sure if I'd order again. Much rather try their other chef specials. I do appreciate that everything was made to order vs the cafeteria style is when it sits there. The food came out piping hot and which is always a plus. For $26 after a drink, tax, and tip, it is on the pricier side but if you are craving this style of food, it's the only place in the food hall offering Asian food.

We were looking for a quick dinner on the way home from the airport. Honestly the food was so good!! He was really impressed with the beef in his Ramon and he even looked them up to see if they had other locations. The bento box was simple and so good. Workers were nice and quick. My one complaint is that the to go box wasn't sturdy at all. Within two hours it was leaking and completely falling apart. I had to move it into Tupperware as soon as I got home.

Taiwanese Beef, Fried Tofu, Opera Prima (Spain White Wine)

I was overjoyed when I spotted this place has Taiwanese Beef!!!! Although on my way there I was planning to buy a pizza, but my eyes caught the dish -- Taiwanese BEEF!!!! Well, my craving caved in!! I ordered the Taiwanese Beef & the fried Tofu!!!! (Both are Taiwanese cuisine !!!) I am so excited & joyful to find it in the Little Italy!! I was over the moon of my delights! I grab a drink from the bar - Opera Prima - Spain White wine and off I set out at the piazza and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon. This is the life! Sipping the white wine immediately transported me back to Italy!!! Oh what a refreshing taste. They were great and provided me table service, I guess they figure I was too indulging in the atmosphere I have forgotten of the buzzer. Lol Oh now onto the food! Taiwanese Beef. The noodle is Ma Ma Mia! Luscious and saporous! I wonder who makes these noodles! It's hand make I hope!! Being the texture of these noodles are toothsome, chewy, and al dente with a bounce of flavor and taste!!! I was very impressed by the noodles!!! No that's what a good noodle dish should be like! The beef on the other hand was okay, but if they stew it in longer oh boy, It would definitely be on a whole new level~~!!! Or even used different part of the beef. Baby! Oh! ....!!! Anyways, and the fried Tofu!!! It was tasty but the tofu was a bit hard to bit into. But hey this was the closest I have taste to the real Taiwanese food ever in San Diego!! I take the loss!! I say it's 70% closest to the true authentic food of Taiwanese cuisine. Tweak here and there! Oh baby!! I be here daily!! lol Drinking the white wine to clear my palate, it does give me such a refreshing taste. Reminding of my time in Italy. Ahhh those memories.

Not what I expected, especially since everything was over priced to me. I ordered an orange chicken bowl that came with white rice. For chow mein or egg fried rice it's extra charge to substitute the white rice. When I got my order, I immediately found a piece of hair, so I brought it back to the lady at the counter. She replaced the bowl, but I was already not feeling it, I ate a bite and couldn't eat anymore. My daughter ordered herself the potstickers, the sauce was salty, so she ate it alone. We did enjoy the spicy edamame.

    Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings

Every single time we come here we always get their Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, our absolute must when we go here! We haven't tried their other stuff on menu but looks amazing! Our 10yr old daughter is loving their wings, so we will be ordering more to "share"

Excellent Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, says these Taiwanese diners!

Yes, I've read the reviews. A bit pricey but you're in prime real estate enjoying quality ingredients made to perfection, so NO, I won't knock any stars off for price. You get what you pay for here! Excellent location in Little Italy with plenty of seating, both indoors & out. Even live music during busier times. BEST OF ALL, the food was authentic & delicious!! With family visiting from LA area, and they know authentic Taiwanese noodles because they grew up there, everyone arrived starved but not feeling like pasta. We walked over and decided to try what we thought would be American Chinese food, similar to Panda Express, just to have noodles and sit in a safe outdoor environment.....MIND BLOWN! Turns out the man cooking, Charles, was from Taiwan and actually knows how to cook! Everyone was impressed! Every bowl of Taiwanese noodles with chunks of stewed beef was prepared to perfection. Great, I'm salivating while writing this. Might have to return sooner than later. Zen wings were also delicious! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, but the yummy sauce is what makes it & worth eating separately. 6 decent sized wings per order. Had to order a second since my family attacked my first order. You know how it goes, someone tries one and tells everyone else how good it is -next thing I know, I'm left with none. LOL

First time coming to this place with my girl the food and the service was amazing. The food and the spice level was on point compare to other food spots in National city. The texture of the chicken and the noodles were amazing and I would highly recommend for anyone to come down and try. There's free water and lemon water. What to expect when you come here: Open space Excellent customer service Suggestion on dishes if you've never been here Plenty of seating Hard to find parking space (I had to park in Africa to walk here but it was worth the work out ) We ordered 3 dishes: salt pepper chicken Kimchi Fried Rice Chow Mein We hope you enjoy the food here and enjoy the atmosphere.

I was craving some asian food so we decided to stop by to grab a bite. I would have to say the food here isn't 100% authentic asian. The flavoring here is very light and the food was ok for my liking and taste. I will have to come back and try something else.

The orange chicken is so good!! Such a great spot for quick comfort food to grab and go!

It was my first time here. After strolling the Farmers market, we were hungry. We stopped into this food area where there were several different restaurants to choose from. Seating is limited on busy days. We were lucky to get a table for six. I ordered the ramen with chicken and fried rice. I was shocked by the prices, very over priced in my opinion. We got our food fast but to my disappointment, both entrees were awful. The rice and chicken tasted like it was burnt with an awful after taste. The ramen was not tasty at all. I ended up throwing it all away. I won't order from her again.

The beef and broccoli with fried rice.... Amazing!!!! Hot and fresh! So good! Was looking for a burger but ended up here. I highly recommend!!!!!

Sweet & Sour Chicken Bento Box
    Craig F.

Got the Sweet and Sour chicken bento box. Chicken was 75% fried breading, very little meat. Honestly similar to what you'd get at Panda Express. Decent size portion but was $17. Add a spring roll order and a drink and you're at $24. Everything is pricey in San Diego but this is steep. Within the Little Italy Food Hall, some indoor and outdoor seating.

I know people who love this place so much that it is part of their regular rotation. Me being born and raised in San Diego without ever trying it almost felt like a crime. I finally decided it was time to pay a visit. We came with a party of five. The seating setup was a little different from what I expected. We ended up at a long picnic table style booth that we shared with another couple. It honestly was not an issue since there was still plenty of space. It was just a different concept for me. The servers were super friendly and bubbly. They moved fast too. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Char-grilled Beef, Eggroll & Cold Vermicelli Noodles, Fresh Spring Rolls, the famous Spicy Garlic Wings plus the Korean Beef Short Ribs. The Fresh Spring Rolls were good. They were filled with shrimp, thinly sliced pork, lettuce, vermicelli noodles, basil plus bean sprouts. The peanut plum hoisin sauce definitely carried them though. Add some of their chili sauce into it too. Delicious. Now for the Spicy Garlic Wings. I know everyone raves about these, but honestly, based on the ones we got, I feel like I would rather have Wingstop. They were really dry. I even asked a friend who has been here before if that was normal. Apparently they are usually not like that, so maybe we just caught them on a bad day or they spent a little too much time in the fryer. Either way, they had definitely lost a lot of their moisture. The flavor was there, but the dryness made it hard for them to really stand out to me. My favorite was easily the Korean Beef Short Ribs. They came out sizzling over caramelized onions with a generous amount of marinated meat. Great flavor. Great texture. Delicious. This was probably the one dish I would order again without thinking twice. The Char-grilled Beef, Eggroll & Cold Vermicelli Noodles were fine. The noodles were a little too bouncy and chewy for me. They almost tasted slightly underdone. The grilled beef had great flavor though. Once everything was mixed with the fish sauce, it came together much better.

The kitchen clearly knows how to prepare quality dishes, and the food is the reason I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars instead of less. That said, I deducted one star because of the location and overall environment. I chose Kingfisher because I was looking forward to Vietnamese cuisine, but when I arrived, my first impression was disappointing. Right by the entrance there was a strong urine smell, and because the restaurant has an open-air layout, it affected the dining experience. I also found myself concerned about the surrounding neighborhood and the overall setting. For me, a great restaurant is about more than just the food--it's also about feeling comfortable, relaxed, and enjoying the atmosphere. Even if a restaurant serves amazing food, the experience isn't complete if the location makes guests feel uneasy. I understand that Kingfisher has earned Michelin recognition, and the quality of the food certainly shows why. However, I hope the overall dining environment can improve because the talented kitchen deserves a setting that matches the excellent dishes they serve. I would gladly return if this establishment were located in a cleaner, more welcoming area without the homeless encampments nearby.
