I ordered half and half on my pizza; one had was great white and other half kosmic karma. My friend customized a cheese pizza with a number of toppings. Both of us were super satisfied with our food and the service. Our waitress was such a sweetie! Me and two of my friends came today to break our fast as it is Ramadan for us this month! I ordered 40 minutes before we are able to break our fast and didn't expect the food to come out super quick within 15 minutes! One of the managers on duty Dylon came and realized we weren't eating and that the food was getting cold so he asked why and we told him we were fasting and that there was 20 more minutes left...even though it was our mistake he offered to give us fresh & hot food right before it was time for us to break our fast! My boyfriend and i were super excited to hear a mellow mushroom had opened up locally, but after reading reviews, we really weren't sure about whether or not we wanted to go and waited it out a bit. Decided to give it a try tonight. We called in a carry out order (large pizza and some pretzel bites) and wrrequoted 25 minute pick up time. Happen into this spot after taking our kids to the Air and Space Museum. We were actually headed to another spot but the kids were not tolerating a wait. MM sat us right away. The kids opted to start with the pretzel bites and we shared the Thai Wings, both were so good! My son had the burger and wolfed it down. Very disappointed my first time at the mellow mushroom I was very excited to try their steak and cheese hoagie it was really good and my friend ordered a Greek salad with chicken. It looked good but my friend found most the lettuce was already oxidized. My friend was very disappointed because not only the salad cost $12 but she had already been through a bad episode of food poisoning eating salads she had to drive back and return the salad. They gave her a new one, it was fresh. I hope they pay more attention to the quality of their salads. Makes me wonder about the rest of the food that they serve. Ordered a curb -side pick up at 6pm, got there at 7:30 and didn't receive my pizza until 8pm. Absurd amount of time to wait for a pizza, poor service. Maybe shouldn't pay ahead of time so I can just leave. Basically a hungry hostage. Subsequently, we got home to find the pizza tasted terrible! I have not idea what they put in that cheese pizza, but the kids couldn't even eat it. The service is HORRIBLE. We walked in through the outdoor seating by accident and the server comes up to us and tells us that we were supposed to go through the front. And I understand it was our mistake, and we understood the first time. But she comes back and tells us brings it up again with an attitude and says "yeah normally people go through the front of the restaurant." She was extremely rude about it. Tonight was my first time coming to this location and honestly I found it to be a bit disappointing. The food coming out was really slow. Tables who were seated after we were had their food before we did and in some cases were finished with their meals before ours even came. One table that had been seated waited so long for someone to even come by to take their drink order that they just got up and left. The waitress noticed the long delay and apologized. She told us a Manager would stop by the table. He never did. He stopped and asked all the other tables around us how things were going, but continued on past us each time. Runners on two separate occasions brought food to us that wasn't ours. When we finally got our food the order was wrong. Also we were told that the reason for the delay was that they forgot to make the pizza we ordered gluten free. They ran out of French bread pizza for the kids. I had one beer, then had to walk to the bar, wait for the bartenders to stop talking amongst themselves and then order another beer after holding an empty beer bottle at my table for about 15 minutes. My only complaint regarding the pie itself was that, in my opinion, the crust shouldn't be so wide. The wide crust took away from the goodness that was happening in the middle of the pie. Regarding the environment and functionality, I'm not sure it made a whole bunch of sense. A table for 4 barely fit 2 large pies and plates for 4 people. Also the music was odd.. very punk-rocky. Maybe I'm just used to something softer like alternative rock, but maybe that's just the crowd they hope to attract. Lastly, the pizzas are expensive. While service issues were a concern when they initially opened, they have ironed out the kinks and are running a smooth operation now. Servers are both friendly and efficient. The mushroom soup is a must-try and I get it at each visit. It's creamy and delicate and a great way to start your meal. For pizzas, the kosmic karma is too good to pass up! It's a Mellow red sauce base with feta cheese, mozzarella, spinach, sun-dried roasted tomatoes and roma tomatoes-finished with a pesto swirl! The traditional crust is the best, so buttery and bursting with flavor. I also appreciate their many vegan and vegetarian options to include tempeh and vegan cheese for pizzas and vegetarian sandwiches. The bar is fun with good bartenders, making Mellow Mushroom a good option for just a drink or one of the many beers they have on tap. Happy Hour specials round out the experience. This facility is extremely under trained. It was not busy, all the seats around us were empty. In addition to never receiving water, the pizza never came out. After almost an hour of waiting, we asked the server to box it up and we will take it to go. Another 20 minutes go by. The whole time I can see in the kitchen, one kid zoned out standing idle looking out and two other guys goofing off facing each other. At this point we are fed up and tell the server to cancel. She brings the check with my husbands wine and still charges us for the pizza! This is common sense; the staff is too inexperienced and young. I have been a long time fan of mellow mushroom however my first experience at the Chantilly was extremely disappointing. I called in a carry-out (just one small pizza) and was told it would be 30 minutes. When I arrived to pick it up I was told it would be an additional 25 minutes because the kitchen was backed up. I understand the location is new so I told the host that was okay and waited another 25 minutes. However the next time I tried to pick it up I was told my order still wasn't ready and will be around 30 minutes. I told the host to cancel my order and left. I know the location is new and I'm sure they're figuring things out but the wait time was excessive. It should not take 1.5 hours for a carry out pizza. Maybe I will try it again in a few months the the restaurant (hopefully) has its operations under control. read more

They can't make a good pizza or calzone to save their lives. We've been there three or four times. I don't know why we keep going back. Lousy crust; pizza crust and calzones are always mush. Had a fabulous time yesterday. Do I start the 5 star review with the food or the 5 star service? "Enlightened Spinach Salad" was so fresh and crisp and the glazed pecans were wonderful with the perfect amt of dressing. Thin crust "Kosmic Karma" pizza and "Holy Shiitake" pizza were both mouthwatering. My friend and I split both and we would order each again! Another highlight: Amy the manager, for dessert, made us a Banana Foster Martini - omgosh AMAZING. I can still taste that flavor this moring and keep thinking about it. A must have!! We came here for lunch on a Friday, not packed but busy. We were seated quickly and in their patio area. Our server was super friendly and had a great sense of humor. The menu was super cute like a colorful kids book! Oh man...this is amazing pizza. This place was packed, but we were greeted and seated quickly. Our large party (11 people) got our drinks (mostly kids drinking soda, but a few of us had bar drinks). The restaurant has great decor--I'm an aviation nerd, and because of its proximity to Dulles Airport, it's Aviation-themed. (Have fun picking out the subtle details). Anyway, to the food: it's fantastic pizza. It's got a hand-tossed texture--light and fluffy, with a slight honey taste. The woman who took my order over the phone was professional and clear, and we were greeted by friendly faces that had our order ready when we arrived.
