Mellow Mushroom always has amazing pizza, but the Chantilly location goes above and beyond with their service. Willie the manager has cultivated a wonderful atmosphere- friendly and laid back but with prompt and attentive service. Anna, our server, let us sample one of the beers and then recommended others we could try. Her insightful knowledge of the brews on tap was excellent, and it was delightful chatting with her each time she came to our table to check on us. I have never written a Yelp review before, but I really felt the need to write one for my Mellow Mushroom experience last night. My family and I decided stop in and see how long the wait was to grab some dinner last night, and we were directed to the bar area. My wife and I were nervous because of the kids (5&2), but the fact that we didn't have to wait won over. The food was very good, but this review isn't for the food as much as the service and attitude that we received. Jack was our server and from the very first second he came to our table he was awesome! My son was drawing and Jack was amazing with him. He was running all over the place taking care of the bar guests who appeared to be getting the same level of service we were getting. Jack, thank you very much for being so great and giving us such a great experience. It might not have been a lot to you, but to parents with kids that attitude makes such a difference! This is long overdue post on their location and pizza. Location: Conveniently located in Chantilly with Wegmans, CAVA Mezze, Pokeworks, Lazy Dog and Gustos. I honestly love how it's right next to my workplace. My fave: Mushroom Pizza. I don't know what it is, but the crust, the cheesy and oily flavor just gives it that earthy but scrumptious taste. Outdoor space with heating available. Good hip vibes, love their sangria! Great place to hang out with friends. Food is a bit pricey, as expected in a pizza restaurant, but it's worth it with good friends or a date night. read more

The service was pretty bad. The place was practically empty and it took about 20 minutes to clear a table and get a spot for two kids and high chairs and four adults. The food was OK we did not get our appetizer and told him three times that we don't want it and we Got charged for it still and they brought it to us while we were about to leave still asking if we wanted it. My daughters mac & cheese was reheated and I got burnt from the dish. It was terribly hot too hot to give to a kid, the broccoli that was given with it was very cold so obviously the mac & cheese was microwaved splatter everywhere. Overall food was good. The free pretzel bites with the yelp check in was more delicious than I thought! It was crunchy and paired so well with the beer cheese! My boyfriend and I got the large pizza with half of it being kosmic karma and the other half being the great white. I dont really recommend the great white pizza, because the olive oil was the base. There was not that much flavor to the pizza, and the olive oil just made it greasy. I do recommend the kosmic karma over the great white though! There was much more flavor and the red sauce paired nicely with the crust and pizza toppings!!! The reason for the three stars was for the service. It was a bit inconsistent and we werent sure who our server was towards the end. My boyfriend had to, flagged different servers to get a box for our food, another server for our check, and another server to get our check. Not only that, but my boyfriend also tried saying stuff to the server, but they just walked away. BIG WINNER! We went to the MM for the first time for my husbands birthday last weekend. Please note: it is PACKED at 7:30pm on a Friday but dies down slowly after. There was a nice area outside where we could sit and listen to a live band while we waited for our table. The whole vibe and theme of the art and names of dishes and drinks was great. We got a Merry Prankster pizza which was delicious, as were the bruschetta, and meatballs. Hubby also received a complementary ice cream sandwich for his birthday, yum! I slept on it before giving this review last night and was going to give 2 stars because our server was attentive enough but it doesn't excuse everything else that went wrong with our visit on March 31 at 6:00 pm. My wife called in the morning at 11:55 am, 5 minutes before opening, to make a reservation for my son's 12th birthday. The reservation was for 8 so she couldn't just book it online apparently. The person who picked up the phone seemed confused and had to talk to their manager about making the reservation but came back and confirmed that we were down for 8 people at 6:00 pm that night. When we showed up the restaurant was busy and it took almost 15 minutes to get to the front of the line. Once we got to the front a female hostess made direct eye contact with my wife, didn't acknowledge her, and then proceeded to text on her personal phone. She looked miserable - I've worked in the industry before and I know people have bad days but try not to take it out on your guests... Mind you I'm standing there with an ice cream cake too... A young host comes back from seating another family and kindly greets us. My wife mentions the reservation for 6:00 pm but much to our surprise... he can't find it. The hostess goes back to get the manager to come out and figure it out. Unfortunately, he's on the phone so it takes another 15 minutes or so... Again, I have an ice cream cake in a Cold Stone bag that's melting. The manager comes out, they have a quick discussion, and he can't find anything with our name on it either... Well, I can appreciate him for looking around and trying to accommodate us. He takes the cake and puts it in the freezer and at 6:33 pm we finally get sat at 6 person booths that aren't facing each other. Since it's my son's birthday all the grandparents want to sit together so we decided to squeeze into one booth for 6 with 8 people... 2 smaller kids were in the party so it wasn't the end of the world. We sit down order a few drinks - put in an order for 10 thai chili wings and the Cloud 9 wings. Once about 5 minutes later I put in the order for the table - 1 Medium Mighty Meaty, 1 Medium Great White, 1 Medium Wild Havana, 1 Medium Pacific Rim, 1 Small Pepperoni and Sausage for the birthday boy, 1 Small Pepperoni for my daughter, and 1 Steak and Cheese Sub. The order was put in at around 6:45 pm - 6:50 pm (I know this because of a text I sent out right before putting the order in) The wings came out within 10 minutes which was great - they were great and no complaints there. The issue is the table behind us that got sat 10 minutes after us with a party of 6 and put in their order around the same time as us got their pizza 20 minutes before us. I had to ask my server multiple times how long the pizzas were going to take and she apologized and said that it was really busy... I can understand that but by the time our pizzas came out at 7:43 pm (my wife took a picture of the pizza as soon as it came out and I asked for the time stamp) the people behind us were already finished and getting boxes with for their dinner. It took almost an hour for the food to come out. Not only that one of the pizzas didn't show up. After asking about it first, I was told that the kitchen messed up on it and it would be out soon... But I don't really believe that considering we never got the steak and cheese either so I'm just thinking they forgot in the kitchen... Scarfed down the food miserably because I just wanted to get out of there. All of the pizza was good but wasn't really hot like it was fresh out of the oven which means maybe it was just sitting back there? My sons "sausage" and pepperoni had tiny burnt pieces of what I'm assuming is the leftover meat scraped off of the grill... Chose not to eat the cake there because I wanted to leave so badly... Got the check and lo and behold the steak and cheese WAS on the receipt. This means that my server did put the order in correctly so I couldn't blame her for all the other issues and after she took off the steak and cheese tipped her 20% on the $230 she deserved. Not her fault the whole place was falling apart around her!!! I've written some long reviews but nothing ever this long. I am still feeling the anxiety I felt from last night this morning... Had to hit the bike to try and sweat out the anger. Probably won't come here again even though the pizza ended up being pretty good and definitely won't recommend this place to anyone that I know... My wife wanted to try this one out because it had a better rating than the Herndon location but will be going to the Herndon location moving forward. read more

I like this place, but I usually get salad and the amount of meat you get for what you pay is almost ridiculous. It seems worse when you order takeout. For $2.50, you get four pieces of chicken- see picture. It's really sad. It's even weirder because the one in Herndon gives you at least double the amount, so it's clearly a Chantilly issue. I've been here a few times, mainly because they have a great happy hour and outdoors so on a nice day, the patio is awesome. This is probably the first time I've come for dinner. It's a great family friendly spot. There was live music around 7pm but not too loud just enjoyable. Around 6pm, wait time is about 30-45 min. It shares the lot with the shopping center so you might be circling for a few minutes, but you find a spot soon enough. Pizza and drinks are fabulous. I got the build your own medium pizza which is more than enough for one person. Probably enough for 2. Pretzel bites with cheese are delicious as well. Kinda doughy and reminded me of funnel cake. And my daughter destroyed the brownie for dessert. read more

We ordered online and we're given a pickup time of 6:44. My boyfriend was a couple minutes late and when he arrived, the food was not ready. He waited about a half hour before realizing everyone around him was also waiting for their order and some were supposed to be ready 20 minutes plus before ours. When he approached the hostess he was told it would be right out. When he pressed another few minutes later, the manager came out and apologized, but also stated that they were over an hour delayed on their to-go orders. We decided to get a refund instead of wait the remaining time until our order was ready. I'm giving two stars for the managers kind attitude, however, I think their online ordering system needs a better cap on orders if they are unable to handle what's coming in, or we should have received a phone call to warn us of the delay. read more

I initially found the place while looking for an electric car charger in the area and my Plugshare app led me to this shopping center when I spotted the Mellow Mushroom and figured it'd be a great place to get a bite to eat, too. I'd only ever had their pizzas before (in other cities), but rightfully assumed it'd be a decent spot for some lighter fare this time around. The food was good. I had the mushroom soup and an order of the bruschetta, as well as a terrific bottled root beer. They even let me sit and work for an hour before ordering and at least an hour after, without ever rushing me or trying to get me out of the door. Now, if I could give more stars for amazing customer service, I would. Lauren was bartending and serving lunch in the bar area the day I came in, and she was terrific. Fun, personable, sharp, and an appropriate amount of sass... what's not to love. She seemed to be on a first-name basis with a lot of the folks in there, and treated me, a first-timer, just passing through on business, like a regular too. If I was local, I'd certainly be in there more solely because of how well they treat their customers. read more

Mellow Mushroom has excellent pizza, pretzel bites, and a large selection of craft beer. Typically when we've gone, the only pizza we've ever ordered is the Funky Q Chicken. As far as beer goes, the list is typically extensive and features both national and local craft beers. It's nice that their flight is a flat rate price, instead of charging more for imperial stouts, etc. On our most recent visit, we sat on the patio outside because of COVID-19 restrictions. They've expanded their patio size out into a general seating area for the shopping center so there is plenty of space. They've also gone to QR code scan menus for the food and beer, which I think is a nice touch. read more

This is the third time now that my online pickup order has been the wrong order. Shame on me at this point for not checking but it's extremely frustrating and disappointing that this is a common occurrence. Oddly enough, my name was written on the pizza box of the wrong order which means they just made the wrong order from the start. Not sure how you mess up an online order for a pizza with meat for a veggie one. It also was ordered as a thin crust and came regular. What's even more off putting is that after calling in and telling the hostess about the issue, I'm put on hold for another 10 minutes and need to re-explain the issue entirely to a manager who doesn't take the mess up seriously. Clearly this place has some communication issues. I'd rather order Dominos or any other pizza next time. First time at mellow mushroom and I had the holy shiitake small thin crust and my friend had the kosmic karma, small as well. I had two slices, one of each and my favorite is the holy shiitake. You get the caramelized onions, garlic aioli with shaved Parmesan and topped with chives. The crust is thin, nice and crusty out and so full of umami flavor and bottom part of the crust was crunchy, not wet and gummy. Definitely will be going back to mellow mushroom to try their veg-out thin crust . In the chantilly area, looking for tasty pizza, must check mellow mushroom out! read more

Horrible wait on a SLOW day, 70min wait for two pizzas is toy unacceptable. They are giving preference to online orders over dine-in customers, I mean how messed up is that. The Chantilly location has a aircraft hanger feel, with all the propellers on the ceiling and aircraft designs. It has a chill feel and the pizzas are great.
