Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite pizza chains. I normally don't like meat specialty pies, but their "Mighty Meaty" is my favorite pizza. I order it every time, despite being the type who likes to try everything on the menu. It tastes even better if you dip it into their Esperanza sauce! I always get their Mediterranean salad. Horrible. I placed my online order at 6:30, they said a 7:15 pickup. I have been waiting for my online order for 50 minutes and still no food. They have me waiting in the parking lot. On Tuesday night my wife and I invited our daughter & 3 grandkids for a pizza at this location. They drove from John's Creek and we drove from Marietta. We arrived about 6:30 and sat in the outside dining area. They were not that busy at that point. After 15-20 minutes of no server even coming to our table my daughter went inside to ask about getting served. She noticed 2 of the servers standing around on their phones. She then spoke to the manager and was told they are "short staffed". My daughter explained we had 3 small hungry children and would appreciate someone taking our order. Another 15-20 minutes go by and nothing. I see a server at another table and politely tell her we've been there over 30 mins and no one has even taken a drink order. "We're short staffed. I'll tell the manager" was her reply. Stoll nothing. The table next to us confirmed the servers were inside talking and looking and on their phones just like my daughter witnessed. FINALLY after almost an hour we pack up to leave. I approached the "manager" to tell her how disappointing the whole experience was...her reply? " Have a great evening" in a very snarky voice. Great pizza! Just had a long wait. It wasn't super busy when we arrived, but it still took 40 minutes for the pizzas to arrive. The pizzas were perfect though! What's not to love? Caught it one night with live music which made this a really fun night! The vibrant atmosphere, super-friendly staff and great stone-baked pizza! My boyfriend, from Wisconsin was so impressed that they even offer Wisconsin aged white-cheddar! On the rare occasion when we're not in the mood for pizza, we enjoy the Jerk Chicken Hoagie, Wings and Meatball Trio. We met the owner and he was great! Never again. Have never experienced such horrendously rude, condescending and immature service, anywhere. The manager is a total jerk (although a different, much crasser name comes to mind....). I have been coming here for 2 years off and on. The manager here is easily overwhelmed with easy requests. The rest of the staff is fine and friendly for the most part. Manager asks for multi family groups to call and reserve and will not seat large parties unless and exact number is given. Approximate numbers were not good enough for this guy. I like the food. Pizza of this caliber is not a rare commodity in this part of town. I can easily find another manager somewhere that likes money over their comfort. read more

Worst experience ever tonight. MM is one of my favorite places for our family of seven, but this was the worst! This was a date night with my wife and our two little ones. Right off, The manager got irritated at us for asking politely to switch tables from the tiny one in the far corner. We ordered one pizza and one salad. We got the salad then waited an HOUR before finally getting up to leave with no food or apology. The restaurant was not full. I asked to pay for the salad and said how long we waited. The manager, Ryan?? did not apologize but said they were doing their best to bring everyone food. I said "no one checked on us or apologized or offered any bread knots or anything at all." His only response was that "those would have taken time to cook" he wouldn't look at me. I could not believe that he won't even apologize for making us wait an hour at our table with two little kids. I went to take a pic of the guy then stopped and went to leave. He chased after me yelling that I don't have a right to take any picture and I need to delete that! I said do you want to see my phone? He said Yes! So I showed him that I didn't even take it. I'm blown away at the pompous arrogance. Every restaurant can make a mistake. But when you respond rudely and chase me down instead of contritely apologizing, it's incredible. We won't be back to this one . It's on hwy 92 in Roswell. Save yourself the headache! read more

The menu has changed and my favorite Tortilla Soup is no longer an option. Our last visit was also marred by poor service. The server was more interested in getting our money and getting us out despite half the restaurant being empty and no one waiting for a table. I didn't get a single refill except at the very end when she asked "would you like a to-go refill?" They are also changing the atmosphere to appeal more to children with a balloon sculptor and video gaming, which made for a noisier environment considering all the hard surfaces. They are losing their unique and appealing aspects so it will be harder to select them over a competitor. Looking back at my previous review, and considering other recent trips, the service problems persist and are worthy of a rating downgrade. read more

We go in and get seated , which was the best part of our experience, in fact it was the last human interaction we would have. We literally waited for 10 minutes and left after our server failed to show up to our table. There were maybe 5 other tables there and I counted 4 separate servers walk by. My wife called in an order the other night and they told us it would be 1 hour. I got there at the 1 hour mark and waited for another 30 minutes in the parking lot. The reason I am giving them a good review is because I asked to talk with a manger to let them know that I did not love having to wait so long. I know they are understaffed and I told her to let the owner know that my frustration is not at the employees. She said the owner was in the kitchen cooking pizzas because 3 people called in sick. I can respect an owner who is willing to get in the fight like that. Food here is your expected Mellow Mushroom awesomeness. If that's all you care about, read no further. However, location and heavy to-go orders always perplex me about this particular MM. Looks massive from the outside, but weird entrance over off Westwind (at Chevron / Steak n Shake) with a driveway that snakes back behind the little Chevron strip mall. Upon entering, what looked massive from the outside is actually a quite tiny dining area. Large outdoor seating, but bar is in a weird angle off to the corner. I see more people come in for take-out orders than I see sit and stay. Not sure why that is. Every other Mellow Mushroom I've been in has a strong attendance and pretty routine waits. This place is always empty when I'm there. This part of residential Roswell is just weird like that. I'm sure post school activities it is slammed, but routine nights not-so-much. Visited here on Tuesday, 8/14/18. I was with a party of 15 to celebrate a coworkers birthday. We called ahead so they would know to expect us. When we got there we were pleased to see the table had been set up and waters were waiting for all of us. Brennan was our server and was fantastic. What quickly turned a great experience to a bad one was that our server was not only expected to wait on us, remember there were 15 of us, but anyone else that came in. There is no way one person no matter how good they are could keep up. I am assuming the manager was a guy named Angelo. He was of no help whatsoever, he disappeared after getting frustrated by not being able to figure out who had 2 salads he was trying to bring to the table. He openly criticized our server in front of everyone which is something you should NEVER do. He should have been on the floor helping serve the people who were all getting frustrated at how long everything was taking. We were there for 2 hours!!!!! We had 2 of our group arrive late and they wanted to call in their order so they would be able to eat with us. They were told that wasn't possible but it was possible for us to order for them. How ridiculous. Through all of this our server kept a positive attitude but you could see the stress from everyone wanting this or that. I would like to know where Angelo went, hiding out in the office possible, instead of out on the floor doing what managers are supposed to do which is HELP! Angelo has no business in the position he is in if he cannot handle the stress of a busy restaurant and curb his frustration. If he had a problem with our server it should have been handled away from the floor. The food here isn't THAT good and I for one will not be back. the service is absolutely terrible. the GM of this location, in Roswell on WestCrossville, should be fired. are you not awake? 1.5hr wait times for food, but pizza comes out in 1hr then the rest at different times so food gets cold and people can't eat together. came back for a second time to give them a chance at redemption, but it was even worse. the employees (teenagers) don't care either, they believe it's the new norm. just despicable. go to a different location, avoid the Roswell location! read more

I've been here more times than I can count and it never gets old. This location has recently received a groovy facelift. The new bar area is the perfect spot to sit back with a cold one and enjoy a game. There's a fun and safe little spot outside for the kids to play. Ok, so this is the newest location near my house. The restaurant is really cool and the interior is much more mainstream than the older hippier restaurants they used to build. From the second you walk in you can tell it's a suburban restaurant with a small bar section and a huge patio for all the Roswell families. The place looks large, but seating is always an issue on a nice day or evening. Plan ahead to wait if you're coming in during prime time hours. The patio rocks and it's far enough off of the road to keep the HWY 92 noise to a minimum. The food is always great, and the pizza cannot be beat. I don't care if you're a DD or NY pizza person. The shroom keeps is real, real good. The beers are cold, the pie is hot and the atmosphere is great. Can't be beat in my book. read more

This has to be my 100 different Mellow Mushroom that I've been too and this one does not disappoint in food or flavor. The pizzas are delicious and the service was wonderful. We were allowed to sit at the bar, enjoy a local ale called "Bogarts" and sit in a clean manicured table within 20 minutes on a busy Friday night. My hat is off to the management staff who allowed me to buy 2 plisner glasses for a gift from his establishment (because they had Alice in Wonderland references) for cheap. Not any restaurant would allow you to do this because of people's attitudes believing that is "tacky". However, in the only thing that could make this a 5 star is this: It looks nothing at all like a Mellow Mushroom! It looks like a sterilized version of what should be a hippie grungy restaurant. That's the whole appeal of the Mellow in some towns, its charm! The Mellow Mushroom pizza is not like any other pizza you'll find at your standard run-of-the-mill pizza joint. Their pizza is made from fresh ingredients and their dough is out of this world. Beware, though, that the dough creates a wonderful pizza crust that adds to the exotic flavor of this pizza and anyone who expects the normal pizza-shop style crust may not appreciate the Mellow Mushroom. However, their pizza is as close to the from-scratch pizza that my wife bakes on our pizza stone that I have ever had. We've been to several of the Mellow Mushroom chain since we've moved South and this one does not disappoint. The food is good, the service is fast and friendly, and the kids love it too. This Mellow Mushroom gets 4 stars for the restaurant itself, but Mellow's food only gets 3 stars overall; sorry Chap, but it's the food that you go out for. This location is big, inviting, lively and full of patrons. We went on a Friday at 7pm and were seated after about 25 minutes. It wasn't a problem to get a beer at the bar while waiting, and I pleasantly found SweetWater Festive Ale on draught. They had some other goodies from Terrapin and Bell's Brewery, too. Our server was a lively young man who happily took our order and quickly came back with beverages. You could tell all the servers were busy, but he managed to keep his cool and never rushed us. The two pizza's we ordered were a 16" Hawaiian pizza and a 14" Pepperoni and Sausage. Both came out fairly quickly and were tasty. I liked the meaty pie better; there's something about sweet fruit on a pizza that doesn't taste right to me (and I worked at a gourmet pizza restaurant!). The pizzas were up to Mellow Mushroom standards: Intensely heavy dough, a thick crust with butter and Parmesan, gobs of pizza cheese, and a nicely distributed array of generic Sysco brand ingredients. The pizzas are good--you'll gobble them down--but I like seeing high quality meats and funky ingredients on my pizza. I could always go to Domino's if I want run-of-the-mill toppings. There are better dine-in pizza restaurants (e.g. Hearth Pizza Tavern, Antico's) but this place is good for families and get-togethers. The beer selection is good, the service is good, and the food is good. You'll get what you order. My big problem here is probably the dough. It's just way too thick for me, and I always feel bloated after eating their pies. I'll probably come back here if I'm in the area to meet friends and I don't feel like Taco Mac or Chili's.... Oh yeah! There's a really cool tree in the back corner of the dining room. You'll probably feel like a mafia leader (w/ kids in tow) sitting at the private booth in the tree, if you're lucky enough to sit there. read more
