One of the better Mellow Mushroom locations, and I've been to a lot, including the first store on Roswell Road in Atlanta. I need to preface that I'm a big fan of MM In general, and have yet to regret eating at any of their locations. This location is definitely in the top 5 food wise. My salad was great, and the Italian sub I occasionally get was the best I've had at MM. Service was stellar as well. A busy Friday night, they were slammed, and yet they were able to seat 5 of us in 1/3 the time expected. Table service was fast, accurate and friendly. Never felt rushed to turn over the table either. All in all, very glad they put one in St. Augustine, I will definitely go again on our next beach trip. read more

This was really a nice experience for a Friday night. Our server was Zack and he was attentive but not rude or overwhelming. Our food came out in a timely manner and was very delicious. Love going to the 'Shroom and this was our first time at this location. I ordered the small garlic/oil base, mozzarella and spinach pie. It was sooo good! Not oily at all with the classic chewy crust..mmm! Hubby at the small marinara, pepperoni, and mushroom pie. It was so good and the pepperoni so fresh you could actually taste it! We had a group of 10 and no problem making reservations. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Three of us shared a Great White Pizza which was very good. The seasonings and crust were excellent. We're always impressed with the quality and variety of pizzas offered at Mellow Mushroom franchises. And, this location did not disappoint. It is ~10 minute drive drive old town St. Augustine in a mixed business section of town. For some reason the parking lot entrance and outside dining area was yellow taped off and we had to walk around to the street entrance. The pizza, service, and draft beer selection was 4 stars but the ambience for us was only 2+. This added up to just 3 stars for this MM location. read more

Mellow Mushroom St. Augustine has grown to be very disappointing. Service the first couple times was great. It has progressively gone way downhill to the point of zero acknowledgment. A few of the bartenders are great, but the servers are embarrassingly horrible. We ordered a Maui Wowie pizza on a week day with only a few customers inside. Nice flavor, BUT, part of the crust was burnt and the burnt taste overpower everything on two of the six slices. Way too much pineapple and very little jerk chicken and bacon. Some slices had NO MEAT. For not being busy at all, I was very disappointed. Stopped in with the wife on a Sunday after church, looking for some yummy pizza, cold beers, and football on TV. Found all of them in spades at Mellow Mushroom. This place is usually packed, but I was surprised to find plenty of parking outside, and plenty of seating available inside, especially at the bar area. The service was great- bartender was attentive, friendly, offered great suggestions, and knew his beer. It was nice that he offered my wife a few samples of the drafts to pick which one she would like best. I was impressed with the amount of draft beers available, and was glad they had a few of my favorites and a few I wanted to try, not to mention a good selection of local breweries. The pizza selection was pretty impressive, a lot of different flavors and choices. We ended up getting a large and splitting between two different types, and the pizza was fantastic. There's something about the dough that I really enjoy, it just tastes fresher than most pizza places. The toppings were also very fresh and they covered the entire pie. The pizza tasted delicious and didn't come off like it had been sitting in a freezer for a few weeks waiting to be baked. I was also impressed with the appetizer and salad selection, I may have to try a few of those next time. Overall, had a great visit here. Great food, cold beer with a ton of draft choices, and they had the NFL Sunday Ticket package, so you could check out your favorite game on the big screens. Service was great, restaurant was clean, and easy to get in and get your grub on. It was somewhat pricey, but I feel the quality and amount of food we got for the price was definitely worth it. Not much to go on here today, this was a lunch salad stop for me and my family. However the service was top shelf and the salads were fresh crisp and just the right size. Horrible, cramped parking lot. Really hard to navigate, especially in the rain. The host asked if my hubby and I wouldn't mind taking a 'high top'. We said that would be fine, but we had no idea what the host was talking about. He seated us in the noisy bar section at a tall table with two bar stools. Now we know what a 'high top' is. A group of loud drinking guys were beside us and one of them kept staring and flirting with me. Thank goodness my husband didn't notice. Anyway, the menu prices didn't match the online prices that are supposed to be the same no matter which Mellow Mushroom you go to. Every dish, pizza or otherwise, was about $5 more expensive than the website stated. We decided to leave. The location of our table, our neighbors, the prices, and the sports bar atmosphere annoyed us to no end. Do not recommend this place. read more

Meal type I had there: Dinner Food/beverage that I had: A small pizza with mozzarella, oil and garlic, pesto swirl, spinach, and caramelized onions with red sangria to drink Ratings: * Food/beverage quality: 9 The quality of the food and drink that I had was excellent. The pizza that I got was not quite what I was expecting, solely due to the fact that I was trying to recreate a pizza that I had there once before and I must have mixed up a couple of the ingredients. However, my newly created pizza turned out to be very good as well. * Food/beverage quantity: 10 Personally, I don't eat a lot in one sitting, so I normally eat half of my meal and then save the other half for lunch or dinner the next day. The two slices of pizza I had were the perfect size for me in one sitting, and then the next day, I heated up the other two slices to make for an equally tasty meal! * Value for the dollar: 6 For a college student, such as myself, it is a little on the pricey side. A small plain cheese pizza is $9, and then it is an extra $1-2 for each topping. Therefore, if you load your pizza up with various toppings to make for a delicious pizza, it will add up very quickly, as I soon came to find out. * Service: 4 This rating came as a surprise to me since I have been to this establishment a few times before, and I have always gotten excellent service. However, this time around, there was a long wait to get seated, as well as to receive our food, which did make sense since it was a busy night and there was a group of about 8 of us. Summary: Overall, I enjoyed my pizza, but our service could have been a bit better. As I mentioned before, our server seemed very robotic like and had little to no personality. When he asked us if we were ready to order and we said yes, my friend started telling him what she wanted, but he said he will be back with the drinks and just walked away, which I thought was strange. When our food finally came, he mixed up our orders and gave us all the wrong pizzas. My friend, who ordered the vegan cheese, took a bite out of mine, which had regular mozzarella cheese, before we realized that the pizzas were mixed up. It's a good thing she is not strictly vegan because it could have been even worse. That same friend had to wait about an extra 15 minutes to receive her pizza after we all received ours. In addition to that, one friend wanted a refill of her sprite, but the server filled her glass of sprite with water. We arrived to the restaurant around 6:30 and were not able to get out of there until around 8:45. Although this one experience was not to my satisfaction, I will still be back because their pizzas are to die for, and I will be sure to come on a less busy night next time with less people. I do feel as if the live music that is played there could have been a little livelier as well. My friend made a note that the guitarist was putting her to sleep. We decided to stop in on a Monday afternoon for lunch on our way to another attraction. One thing I like to do for chain restaurants is check and see if they have site specific special offerings on their menu. Mellow Mushroom does this so we ordered one of their specials. The Drunken Funguys are the best (bread with beer cheese soup and marinara sauce for dipping). We also ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip which comes with delicious bread/toast. The small pizza is plenty to share with someone so we ordered a simple bacon and cheese. It was wonderful. So that was the food. The service was spotty. I say this because we arrived and were seated promptly, our orders were taken and food brought by at a normal and enjoyable pace. Once the food was on the table though...the service ended. Empty drinks followed by waiting for our check for over the normal wait time (15 minutes). It was not a good experience after such a wonderful meal. So I rate food 4 stars and service 3. Parking can be tricky here so bring your patience. We arrived early enough to easily find a spot...getting out of the parking lot and spot was another story all together. read more

I was pleasantly surprised the first time I ate there. They have good gluten-free pizza and I love their soups. I go there for lunch on occasion and always try to order something different. Our local mellow is one of our frequently traveled spots. We're here at least once a week (for happy hour) where beers are on sale, 2-4-1 mixed drinks and $4 funguys/brochette. Love the pizza selection, especially the local-infused datil works pie. Try it with the datils if you dare! (spicy!) The bartenders are great, I even call some of them my friends now :) Great addition to the island and to St Augustine in general.I like bingo night (Wednesday) too but the prizes recently changed to a $5 gift certificate across the board, meaning no how challenging the bingo you get $5 [bring the gift certificates for a pitcher of beer back!! ;)]. read more

Stopped in before a show at the St Augustine Amphitheatre and the location is really perfect for that. I needed some caffeine so I ordered an iced tea - the unsweet is very good and I did not need to add much sweetener and the server was very good about giving me extra lemon as I requested. Ordered the pepperoni calzone - very disappointing. It was actually a very good size portion and that was about the only thing to recommend it. Not a balanced filling vs. breading ratio at all. There was way too much breading and it was very dense and chewy and not flavorful as good dough should be. The small ramekin of marinara served on the side is not nearly enough. I ended up taking half of it home. Some things are better then next day, but this was even less desirable the next morning- the only part that was edible was the filling. For $15 for the calzone, iced tea and the tip - it's a very expensive place to have a very mediocre meal. read more

We have tried plenty of the local St Augustine pizza joints, but we always end up at this chain pizza place. We love to "go local," but you just can't beat the pizza here. We love the hummus appetizer, the Parmesan pretzels, and just straight-up cheese pizza. For more adventurous pizzas, we like the Caesar pizza (Caesar salad on top a pesto chicken pizza) and Veggie pizza. read more

I love this particular location for the Datil Work pizza - chicken, peppers, onions, pineapple, and Datil sauce. It's the only reason I come but this time we tried a couple other things. The mushroom soup was given a good review by my companions. They said it was good without being chunky of mushroom pieces. We also ordered the Funky Monkey dessert as an appetizer but were seriously disappointed when it came out raw bread dough with cinnamon and sugar on it. The waiter took it to the manager and then came back, saying he'd remove it from our bill but only when we said we didn't want another one. I'm very disappointed with the resolution of this item because we never saw the manager and the waiter didn't seem to know how to handle it.
