I can't say for certain how much of our enjoyment was the pizza itself versus the fact that we were starving at that point. You should've heard my mom's comments about "I feel like my stomach is eating itself" lol. My mom gave it 2/5 stars and my brother gave it 3/5, so somewhere in that range feels about right to me. It's also not cheap for what you get, so just keep that in mind going in. That said, if you're nearby and need a straightforward pizza fix, it'll do the job.

On our beach vacation, we visited Mellow Mushroom in St. Augustine and was pleasantly surprised by my experience. Initially, I was skeptical about dining here, but the quality of the food, particularly the Veg Out pizza, exceeded my expectations. The Veg Out pizza, with its mellow red sauce, mozzarella, spinach, green peppers, sliced mushrooms, sweet onions, black olives, and Roma tomatoes, was delicious. The medium size was perfect, and at 260 calories per slice, it felt like a healthier option compared to typical pizzas. What truly impressed me was that it wasn't greasy at all, which is often a concern with veggie pizzas. This location of Mellow Mushroom does not have the same charm as the one in JAX Beach, but it will suffice in a pinch. The pizza is expensive but it is original and that's what costs. I recommend the Red skin potato, Mega Veggie, and Holy Shitake pizzas. read more
