It's always a bit difficult to gauge what is the "best" Mexican food in the valley. Melody's certainly deserves multiple visits and a shot to be named one of the best. I ordered the menudo because I love menudo and wanted to see how well they made it to verify authenticity. Not only did it blow me away, the taste brought me back to when I was a young boy. Memories of when my family used to get menudo after church on Sundays in Mexico. So I had my wife taste it and she doesn't really care for Menudo and she even said it was the best she's ever tried. They have closed off all doors but one entrance off of Reseda when you walk in all tables are taped off as they should be but menu is covered cannot explain why they just offer one sheet to pick what is wanted then as you pay they ask you to wait outside while they call your number. I have been here before a while back multiple times however this time around they have no order in terms of the line or the way the girl takes your order she is all over the place its usually indicative of the type of food they will serve you. Luckily the cooks are different than the presentation they pose at the front. I hope to come years from now with a different staff and an orderly way and structure. If someone is hungry their current way won't fly. Third time here and so far everything I have tried has been good in taste and well worth the money. I recently had the two enchilada combo with shredded chicken inside. All white meat, which is very important for me because I do NOT like dark meat. The enchiladas were very cheesy and the rice and beans were good too. The horchata was very refreshing as well and was for sure homemade. I have also tried their carne asada fries which were also very good! Only thing is, the meat was a bit hard for my liking but still good in flavor. I was even still OK then, but they did the thing that I just Fing hate and will not put up with... After screwing up and making me wait without apology, they just pushed the bag towards me as I left. Being born and raised in the valley, Melody's is basically the Mexican spot you grew up with besides Fuentes and Salsa & Beer. So with that I've basically had everything in the menu and I can safely say, everything on the menu is great. You can't go wrong with anything here. Personal favorites is the salpicón, the crunchy tacos and rib eye combo plate. Now to my big glaring problem with this place is it's costumer service. If it's busy and you want to make an order before on phone, forget about it. Any time I call on a busy time or Sunday's the phone never gets picked up or I get put on hold and they never come back to my call. The worst day was when I ordered ahead, after calling multiple times, driving all the way there and starving. When I get to the counter to pay, I pull my debit card out and the girl is like (with uppity attitude mind you), "oh didn't someone tell you? We're only taking cash right now. Our machines are down." I stopped going there for a while after that because they were dropping the ball so often with their costumer service. I've been driving by this place for years and finally decided to stop in. Parking is limited, but available. When walking in I was a little turned around, but got in line to order. I feel like any test of good Mexican food is ordering their tacos. I ordered a carne asada, a shredded beef, and a side of chips and guac. I took them home and I have to say...the guac was some of the best I have had. Seasoned perfectly and paired perfect with the salty chips. The carne asada was good, but I found it to be a bit bland. Melody's is awesome, especially if Los Fuentes is overly crowded, it's right down the street and the food is the same! The night I went the service was a little off. I got two tacos, one came after waiting 30 minutes and the other came when I was finished with the first. They also wouldn't give me the guac until I got my food so I paid for guac that I couldn't eat with the chips they gave me. Once I got all my food, I didn't even care because my steak tacos were amazing! I would definitely return because I don't think this would happen again there, everyone makes mistakes!
