I've been to Metro Diner a handful of times with my wife and have always been happy. In fact, when we have extended family in town, most times we bring them here for breakfast or brunch. The best thing about this place, besides how great the food is, is how friendly and accommodating and friendly the staff is. Every time we've been, the staff has made sure that not only my wife and I are taken care of, but that our 14 month old son (at the time of this review) is taken care of as well. In regards to the food, I haven't had anything I didn't like (breakfast might be my most favorite meal of the day), but the chicken and waffles are a must have. I'm not sure what they put in the batter to make the chicken taste so good, but, coupled with the strawberry buttercream and the waffles, you will be sure to come back for more. Overall, this restaurant is a local staple, and I look forward to many more great breakfasts with my family here in the future! read more

This place is great and the fact that I discovered this place by chance makes it even better! Metro's diner has something for everyone and they also deliver with great service and presentation. The menu may have simple sounding options, but the ingredients put in the entrees are something special! After looking at the menu I noticed that Metro's was featured on diners, drive-ins, and dives and that only made some the food selection easier! I started with the Yo Hala in a square which was their stuffed French toast which had cream cheese and bananas with brown sugar, challah bread was used for toast and it was covered with blueberry compote and powdered sugar. I also got their side order of biscuits and gravy and the portions were huge! After devouring the two, I had their chicken and waffles which stole the show! It came with 4 pieces of fried chicken (wing, drumstick, breasts and thigh) and a whole waffle broken into 4 slices which came and powered sugar and STRAWBERRY butter. I highlighted strawberry because it was so different and a great compliment to the meal! Our server brought out maple syrup and hot sauce to make the sweet and spicy sauce to your liking to go on the chicken! Pros: oh where to begin... Taste: amazing doesn't even begin to describe this place. The stuffed banana French toast with blueberry compote was delicious and when we thought it couldn't get better the sausage and gravy came out, then the fried chicken and waffles...oh that strawberry butter...and that tangy maple syrup...my mouth is watering. Price: for 4 meals, we paid about $60 (including a $12 tip, because service was awesome!) and I can get with that considering the portions are huge for each plate. Overall Restaurant: clean, spacious and accommodates large group if needed. And again the service was exemplary. The two times I have been here, each waitress we have had was very attentive and courteous. Now lets talk about the food! You won't go wrong if you order anything with chicken. Their famous Chicken & Waffles is famous for a reason people. I strongly recommend this huge plate of crispy juicy fried chicken (and they're not stingy on portion size) and fluffy light waffles, that has a side of creamy sweet strawberry butter. But if you're not willing to spend $15 on that entree, I also suggest their Spicy Chicken Biscuit ($4) with side of home fries. Holy unhealthy Batman! Brought the BF here for birthday brunch because he loves Monte Cristos and not that many places around town serve them (some places do it with French toast for bread which isn't the same). It was a bit of a haul but I'd been wanting to try their menu so we trekked on over. The server who initially helped us at the host stand really dropped the ball on seating us and I ended up having to get with the hostess to request a table again (first lady told us she would clean a table and then just sort of stopped helping us, it was weird, she ended up being our server and was sort of flaky in general). We ordered waters, a Monte Cristo, a breakfast bowl thing (eggs and such over potatoes), cheese grits, and a biscuit. BF said the Monte Cristo was delicious. He didn't see that they had fries as a side (it's not listed as a side item, it's just listed with the sandwiches) so he ordered home fries that he didn't like (bland). I added spinach to my bowl and should have said no peppers (diners seem to always only have green peppers and I really don't like them) but was able to pick around them. I did like that the red skinned potatoes weren't fried. This is a VERY cheesy item, it was COVERED with cheddar (yum). The cheese grits were disappointing, just grits with a crust of cheese melted on top - I like cheese grits with the cheese mixed in, these were lame. Overall I prefer eating healthy so I was halfway guilty while eating my food and pondering the necessity of all the cheese but all in all my meal was tasty and my BF was happy. I'd like to go back and try some other options. read more

This place is good. I ordered the chicken and waffles.. there was so much food I didn't know what to do with myself. The chicken was nice and juicy and crispy. The waffles were good too. *New as of 7/13* Breakfast was amazing! The service was great. My parents frequent this place and literally every person working knows my parents by name and what they order... Lol I'm not kidding. My dad is in a wheelchair and they accommodated him well. The coffee hit the spot and was nice and strong.. just how I like it. I went off the menu and ordered my own thing and it came out great. They made it how I wanted it. Me and hubby found this place by accident! We were leaving the recruiters office and saw it while waiting at the stop light. We both ordered the chicken and waffles which was amazingly fresh, juicy and crunchy. I can't believe we are just finding this place but I'm so happy that I don't have to go all the way to Orlando anymore. This place is fantastic. My family and I had a great experience at the Altamonte Springs location. We typically go about once per month for a good quality breakfast. The service is always exceptional and today was no different. Our waiter today was David. He provided excellent customer service and we had everything we needed for another great meal. We had the French toast with, eggs, bacon, hash browns with a side of biscuits and gravy. We only ordered one entree because we saw how large the portions were. We arrived on a Sunday morning and put our name on the list, and somehow a party of 22 people that arrived after us was seated before. However, the larger problem is that this place does not respect mask mandates AT ALL. People aren't wearing masks while seated at their table (which is expected, and posted on signs on the door), but tons of people coming in from church were not wearing masks at all. In a restaurant that is fairly close quarters and crowded with primarily indoor seating, this is simply not safe. No effort from management to enforce their own rules for the safety of their patrons. I have been eating here for years, but will not be back. Absolutely disgusting display of apathy from the restaurant for clientele that consists of primarily older guests. read more

Had my first Metro experience last night and it did NOT disappoint! Believe it or not, I had actually never had pastrami before last night, so I decided to give the Pittsburgh a try. (I got it with no tomatoes/slaw). Absolutely delicious. So good. The only frustrating part about the dinner was not knowing what to get as everything looked so good. I'm a sucker for diners and I'm also a fan of breakfast at any time of day. The French toast was making my mouth water so I will have to try that sometime soon. We eat here quite frequently, despite living about an hour away. That probably tells you all you need to know. My go-to here is the Frisco breakfast sandwich There's nothing complicated about it, yet it tastes so much better than anywhere else. My wife likes the Avocado veggie wrap and my daughter inhales the cheeseburger. They are always begging me to take them back here, and my guess is that you can't go wrong regardless of what you order. We got to see the cooks in action, very impressive. The Greek Salad was like none that I've ever had. The flavors marriaged very well together, such a surprise. I love Metro Diner! Their food is great and plentyful. I love the fact where you can sit in by the kitchen area, and watch them coooks. It's always entertaining and learn something how to poach an egg. :) I like their chicken and waffle. You have to take some of the chicken with you, it's so much. The only I'm not sure and haven't tried because my freind had it and didn't like it is their fish dish. This place have someting for everyone. This is a classic All American Diner. The quality is miles ahead any chain like Denny's or Perkins and the service was better as well. This is a real home town place with a great local vibe and energy. I went with my girlfriend and her sister, who apparently can eat like a horse. You wouldn't know it from her stature. This woman ate a gigantic waffle with amazing homemade strawberry topping, an entire order of hash browns made extra crispy upon request, two scrambled eggs with cheese, and a bowl of grits and honey as well as 2 glasses of water. I was able to get a taste of the waffle and boy was I jealous. I got a typical bacon, eggs and hashbrowns plate with sourdough toast. The big crispy strips of bacon were everything I hoped for and of course I turned that all into a delicious breakfast sandwich that hit the spot. Located in the Jamestown Publix shopping area you may want to get there early on a weekend morning as the place will get packed as it is a local favorite with good reason. read more

Absolute terrible dining experience!!! If you're going spend your money, spend it at KiKi's or First Watch, around the corner. My family and I arrived mid morning, this morning and were sat after a brief wait. Our server came to greet us several minutes after being sat, in which we were ready to order our meals with our drinks at that time. After placing our order, several other families were sat thereafter around us in our section in which our server subsequently took their drink orders, followed later by their meal orders. All tables that were sat after us were served their meals in a reasonable amount of time, however we had not yet received our meals. When our server finally came to check in on us, she had realized we had not received our food and went back to the kitchen to see what was going on. At this point in time only was our food starting to be prepared by the kitchen staff. Our server returned to our table with an explanation that there was an issue with her iPad, however this was the same device used to take all her tables orders but clearly with no issues at all. Finally, after an hour from being sat our food arrived from the food runner along with our server letting us know the manager would come by to speak with us. A few minutes later the manager came to our section of the restaurant in which he asked all other tables surrounding us how their food and dining experience was, however he did not stop by our table to inquire. By this time my family was nearly done eating and were ready to leave. Upon finishing our meals, the server returned with our bill in which I provided my credit card for payment. After quite sometime, the server ultimately never came back to our table to retrieve the card for payment so I had to walk to the front of the restaurant to ask the hostess if she could find me someone, anyone to run my card so my family and I could pay and leave the restaurant. The hostess was able to locate our server who then came to the front of the restaurant to finally run my card for payment. No apology was ever extended by the server nor did the manage on duty ever come by to settle what had transpired. I have been to many Metro Diners across the state and have always had a good dining experience, however the service at this location is non existent. Again, if your going to spend your hard earned money, take it across the street for a far better experience ... two hours for eggs and toast with zero hospitality is absolutely ridiculous. read more

It's apparently not as epic as the original one in Jacksonville, but the unique assortment of oversize comfort food makes it a location that everyone wants to come back to (I've already been 3 times). The breakfast pizza so far has been my favorite. It's an unusual combination of everything that you would want for breakfast, and more, all baked together for breakfast bliss.
