Great diner with lots of selections! They opened this week and we have been twice. My husband and I had a late dinner of meatloaf and potatoes, very good and recommended. We were there at 9 pm and they were supposed to close at 8:30 and they were still packed. We went back for lunch on Saturday with the kids and had the All American Burger and chicken pot pie. Both very good. Kids liked it and so did we. The burger has a great slaw on it of shredded lettuce mixed with shredded pickles and mayo. Delicious. We will be back! Took a chance tonight to get dinner at Metro. Being a weekday the crowd was small and we got a booth for three quickly. The staff was friendly and efficient. I ordered drinks and they can our within a few minutes. The specials are written in a big black board and tonight the Big Bern fried pork sandwich was available for $10.99 which includes a side. There was also the Black and Bleu chips along with a variety of others (soups, sandwiches and drinks). The appearance inside was totally different from the days when it was a Friendly's. I never visited when it was Carmels but now it looks like a diner. They have a bar with the round swivel stools, booths, tables, with the black and white floor, open kitchen where you can see the cooks. It was a good use of space and they did a good job on the layout. We ordered some Black and Bleu chips which came out in about seven minutes. It was a plate with home made, thick cut, "ruffle" cut chips. There was a balsamic vinegar reduction and a bleu cheese spread poured over them. They were hot and right out of the fryer. Not bad. A little salty for my tastes but still good. I wished they had more of the balsamic vinegar mixture. The main meals came out within fifteen minutes of placing the order. The Big Bern was BIG. Two giant pieces of Texas toast with a large piece of deep fried pork. It had bacon, tomatoes, bacon, lettuce, bacon and cheese. There were small deep fried chunks of jalapenos to give it some kick. I didn't like all the mayo so I took a butter knife and removed it. I ended up not eating the toast. It was just not as tasty as it looks. I was not sure they used butter to toast it. I tasted it and I think they used lard or margarine. (I also ordered an egg on top). The burger was suitable. A little more bun than meat but the flavor was good. The fries were crispy. Pretty typical. The French toast was good too however the turkey sausage was over cooked and dry. The overall experience was good but I'll need to go back for breakfast. I looked around the room and saw some of the other meals being served and all I can say is that most of the meals they serve are all big. If you are on a diet, watching your calories, salt, etc then you'll need too look hard at their menu. They do have salads and other items which would be healthier but I'm guessing people don't go to Metro Diner for their diet. This is a place for comfort food and when you want to go off the wagon and eat devilishly. read more

We stopped in for breakfast. Nothing exciting just a good solid breakfast in the morning. The coffee was good sadly, the metro diner is like so many other restaurants indoor portions are much larger then some people care to eat. my wife ordered off the kids menu so she could get just one egg. And it's expensive: two people eating just a normal breakfast cost about $20. Will we be back? I'm not sure. there's too many other restaurants in the Orlando area to try, and although the food was good I don't think it was good enough to make it a regular stop. read more

Always awesome the food is amazing I come here maybe 3 times not as much as I'd like. I've always had amazing experience. They still deserve 5 stars but I got the chicken and waffles and the chicken was raw it made me not want the chicken just bc I seen it but that's just me being weak stomach the waitress never took it off my meal it's ok but I guess I'd had expected to be charged for just the waffle but I understand she probably didn't have the authority to do so and I didn't really push it. But any who keep up the good food and service just make my chicken well done read more

I looooooveeeeee metro diner! Alexis is an awesome server but everyone is courteous as well. I've never been disappointed by the service or quality of food. Their menu options put them above a dennys, IHOP etc. Their portion sizes are more than fair. BRING BACK THE BREAKFAST PIZZA, ITS WORTHY OF PERMANENT MENU STATUS. Hello world I've never written a yelp review in my life so this is going to be a real treat . It was the 2nd of January at about 12:30 pm I was having a resoundingly fantastic day and was looking very forward to a pleasant experience at the Met Diner. This is where the story takes a turn down the yellow brick road. On the way home my stomach started feeling weird the good news is I only had a 2 hour car ride home from Jacksonville with my boss. I was about 5 mins from the office trying not to pull over and vom in front of my boss. Ever since I arrived home I have been throwing up non stop. So much so that I can't even drink water. Imagine that. Really let that sink in. If you love a good bout with food poisoning than look no further folks because the Metro has you covered. A resounding 5 STARS for this place. Wouldn't even recommend it to Hitler. read more

This was our first time eating here. There was a minor snafu where our order did not get submitted and it seemed everybody around us getting their food and we were not. We called the manager over to the table. Manager/owner was Mark and he made sure that our food was made promptly and comped the meal very nice. Got into town this morning for the Citrus Bowl (WE ARE - PENN STATE!!) and found this nearby on Yelp. Service was prompt and extremely friendly. Very helpful waiter. We had breakfast basics - one plate of scrambled eggs and one set over easy. The eggs were done perfectly. And I've been on a pretty long streak poorly done over easy eggs so this was welcomed perfection. But for me the ace was the hash browns. Perfectly done with a golden crunchy layer with well cooked insides. And a huge portion. Even with a short stay in the area we may wind up coming back. read more

Well managed facility. Highly recommend the chicken and waffles. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. They also have this incredible strawberry spread that adds remarkable flavor. I also purchased the chicken pot pie, however, I was unsatisfied. I informed my server Tammy, that the overload of peas was too much for my liking. She was incredible in taking it back and offsetting the charge. The overall ambiance was what you would expect at a diner. In addition, the owners came by and made recommendations and made sure there were no critiques. I gave it another chance today and I'm glad I did. The last time I came in, my food was not cooked properly, but heck, we're all human. So after the manager Mark personally called me and apologized, I had to give it another go. My daughter and I got right in because we sat at the high top counter. It was nice to see all the different dishes being made.... So you can plan for your next visit LOL. The waitress Karen was very nice, all the staff is. Even one of the cooks was singing. I've worked in the food industry for years and I see how most of the cooks act, usually very sloppy and miserable. These cooks were smiling, joking, having fun, all while being professional and getting the food out quickly. I waited no more than five minutes for my food. Let's just say, the food came out right after Karen brought out our drinks. I was very impressed. The food was very good, hot, and presentation was nice.
