This place was crowded on a cold Sunday afternoon. The fire pit on the side of the restaurant is a nice touch. The service was pleasant and just fine. We liked the open kitchen concept, but didn't like the occasional eggy smell wafting our way. We had the chicken and waffles and the Belgium waffle with a side of bacon. The waffles were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside..delicious, especially with the strawberry butter it's served with. The chicken was hot and juicy, but on the edge of being salty. The bacon was salty. We will return to try additional dishes. read more

I've been hearing about metro diner for a while. As a diner fan I needed to see what the franchise version of a diner would be like and I have to say overall while the food was just ok the diner feel, atmosphere and look is not executed well. Can see where their heads were at. Counter seating , booths , bit of wall decor ketchup bottles on the table etc but the overall size and compactness metro has tried to fit these "diners " into the small footprint focus is what sorta kills it for me. I get the thinking and the focus on being able to fit one into a small area I.e shopping center but being crowded into a small building feels even smaller with the open kitchen design and counter service makes the metro feel like a franchise trying to squeeze in as many people as possible. And for this reason I'll likely stick to family owned larger diners. You just get the feel of a franchise that's focused on throughput. Get 'em in get 'em out. The omission of an expansive dessert menu is also baffling to me until I realize it's to control turnover. When you've spent years going to diners with desert cases with freshly made deserts it's strange to find out their desert menu consists of .....chocolate cake. If I was trying to replicate the diner experience in a franchise form I'd omit the counter service and open kitchen. Put in an expansive desert case wether homemade on premises or not doesn't matter. Expand the size so people aren't so boxed in rubbing elbows with others and hearing everyone's conversations and put the emphasis on truly replicating the diner experience rather than trying to turnover tables as quickly as possible. Open kitchen are overrated. First time cool 2nd time you forget it's there. Last bit bit least the exterior designs curb appeal is wildly unimpressive. Whoever designed the concept and exterior aesthetics truly believes less is more and it shows. read more

Stopped in here for the first time let customer service was good and the food came out quick. I will try them again in the future because the manager was nice and helped me with a issue . The pancakes were the best in town. If your in the mood for pancakes this is the place to go. I will stop on here again after I visit the casino next time to give them a try again read more

I finally made it in for breakfast one day. I liked the traditional breakfast items with a few nontraditionals thrown in there. It's a typical diner with the typical decor. I got the western omelet was ok. It was made fresh but a little cold when I got it?? Pancakes were good but kinda tough.. I did like this place though, I'm gonna give it another try!! read more

Went Thursday for lunch, got there about 1pm anticipating it may be crowded. They had a good crowd but still a few tables/ booths open and we were seated right away. I had the American or All American burger.......very tasty just should have expected it might be a little soggy with the slaw on there. Others in the party had the blackened Mahi sandwich and 2-2egf breakfasts. My niece said best bacon ever!!! I will say this LOVE LOVE LOVE the grits!!!! Best I've had since South Carolina. Will definitely go back! Went back today for dinner.... was really impressed when we asked if they had a gluten free menu available yet and they informed us they did. Pretty extensive GF menu at that! My Mom got the GF pot roast and loved it!!! Thanks to the Metro for following through with the menu like management had mentioned previous and for caring enough to do so. We enjoyed everything we had from the regular menu as well and will definitely be back!! I had to write again to talk about the HOLY DAVOLI BURGER!!! Omg this burger was delicious, it's more than a burger tho it was a meal!! Grilled Cheese + Bacon Cheeseburger all in one. I had it minus the lettuce slaw as I recalled getting a regular burger here previously with the slaw and it was soggy. This burger was AWESOME!!! Asked for the bacon crispy and the burger medium( pink) and it was P E R F E C T! My Dad had the Charleston Shrimp & Grits this time and I will post pics of both. He enjoyed his, had really good flavor just not something he would get on the regular. We just went again today, the location on Street Road in Bensalem. I really wish this place was closer because I would so come here more often! Arrived around 7:30 a.m. and the place was already lively with a ton of people. Luckily they have plenty of seating so there was no wait. The staff here is absolutely fabulous & our waitress was awesome. I literally didn't even have to ask for a thing because she read our minds every single time and she brought what we needed before we even mentioned it. Everyone greets you and makes you feel welcome, which is really nice. The food was so fresh and cooked to complete perfection. They serve big portions so you'll surely need a to go box, lol. We really loved the gravy biscuits! Great place to come with both friends or family. I'm glad we found this gem because I'll surely be coming back the next time I'm in town. read more

The Metro Diner on Street Road is such a solid breakfast/brunch location in Northeastern Philadelphia! My partner and I stopped by Metro Diner several times when we were in the area and we enjoyed our breakfast/brunch here. A few words to summarize: quality food, efficient kitchen, friendly service, reasonable price. What could I expect more from a diner? It's a chain restaurant with good quality control. We observed the open kitchen once and were really impressed by their kitchen management. Food: Metro Diner has a full menu of staple breakfast and brunch items. We've tried quite a few brunch items here: breakfast eggs, Western omelet, waffle breakfast, huevos rancheros, avocado toast, and chicken pot pie. Overall, we were satisfied with the food quality. All the egg dishes were nicely cooked, waffles were fluffy, and avocado toast was fresh and creamy. We particularly like their freshly made hashbrown. The only underwhelming dish we had was the chicken pot pie, which was too salty and with a floppy crust. Metro Diner is not like the fancy hippy restaurants in the city, but the breakfast/brunch is really solid. Also, as a tea person, I'm very happy they serve tasty teas from Rishi (my favorite tea brand). Kitchen: We sat at the bar once and were impressed by their efficiency and quality control. There were trainers and chefs in the kitchen and every process was well-managed. That's why dishes are served quickly here and they have a high table turnover rate. Service: No complaint on service. The only thing that may upset some people is that the servers bring out checks early, but I don't mind it too much because I come here to grab a quick and nice brunch. Price: The average price is around $10 and the portion size is generous! However, they do charge you for extra things that are not included in your dish (50 cents for whipped cream). I arrived here on my way from Princeton to Philadelphia; arriving for the lunch hour. It was rather busy, but since I was alone I opted for the crowded counter spot. There were people waiting and soon after my arrival more were coming in. This goes to show you that it is a very popular spot. It took awhile to be greeted or acknowledged, but this may be a result of the busyness at the time. Once greeted, it was very pleasant and I placed my order. In honor of Canadian Thanksgiving, I went with the Turkey Plate. The food came out rather quickly and the kitchen was hoppin' - the view from the counter. I had forgotten to mention "easy of the gravy" so silly me; it was loaded with gravy. The turkey was delicious and despite the smothering of gravy, I was able to taste turkey. The sides were mashed potatoes with skins - the butter flavor came through as well; the other side was green and yellow squash. The squash was cooked to perfect tenderness, but it was salty. Overall, the service was decent and the food good. I would love to try this place again. Feel free to stop here as I am sure you will not be disappointed. read more

Hey guys, this is my first visit to this location in Bensalem Pa. My first experience was the location in Las Vegas Nv. I ordered my favorite on the menu, the chicken and waffles. It was absolutely the best there is. A light fluffy waffle w/ strawberry butter, accompanied with there crispy fried Chicken. The same quality of service if not better than in Vegas. This is my new regular dining spot. This diner offer quality food and quick/friendly service. I did not even realize this franchise was on Diner Drive-ins and Dives until after I've frequent here. The restaurant is always busy and you can smell and see food right away from the open kitchen immediately when you walk in. There are a few sections of seatings making private but not isolated from the over all space. The daily specials are on a board handwritten everyday by the staff. The servers here are extremely friendly. We went multiple times and each time we got great service. The food is phenomenal, and they have a great variety to choose from. During my visits I've had: crab cake egg Benedict, country style Benedict, meatloaf platter, chicken pot pie, pot roast, pork loin sandwich and a chicken salad sandwich. The egg Benedict last were some of the best I've had. Both were good but I prefer the crab cake version. The eggs were perfectly poached with with the crab cakes adding a delicate texture to the dish. The meatloaf is a highlight here. One of the reasons it stood out is because of the crust around the loaf. Most places just cut the load and serve it but here, they crust it on the hot top before plating. Also, the grilled veggies that comes with the dish are really delicious. The veggies have a charcoal grilled flavor to them and have a sweet after note. The pot roast is another favorite of mine here, the juice from the roast is amazing. It is beefy and bright and goes very well with the mashed potato. The beef is tender and rich, a super fulfilling dish. The chicken pot pie is where I had problems with. The filling is good but the added lama beans took away from the classic pot pie. The crust is also a biscuit crust so it is a lot thicker than your flakey pastry. It eats like a gravy on biscuit than an actual pie. The pork loin sandwich is packed with flavor. The deep fried pork is huge and is hanging out of the sandwich. They load it with condiments and cheese and each bite is an explosion. The chicken salad is also good but the chicken chunks are huge, almost mini nugget size. I wish they were smaller so they could taste more refined. Also, the fries were soggy, one of my biggest pet peeve. Overall, this is a rock solid dining spot. Aside from a few small set back on some items, this is place is awesome. If you are anywhere near the area, make sure you stop by! read more

I called back and the manager said they would cook me new food but that required me to drive back out in the cold... not impressed. So I went in today after receiving a kind letter from the manager at Metro as well as a gift card for $25 since my customer service experience was terrible during my first visit at this place. Omg! This second visit was amazing! Our waitress Joy really was friendly and knew the menu like the back of her hand. She was very informative and gave us suggestions on what to order, what she thought was a huge seller and she also mentioned that if we see a special on the menu at one time- we can come back and see if they can make it the next time we come. She went through the menu with us- since the rest of my party was new to the chain. She was quick with her advice, refills and treated us how we should be treated during our dining experience. I ordered the fried chicken platter since I loved the chicken and waffles last time I came- and it had that sweet and hot sauce which tasted amazing!!! The plate was huge- my sister ordered the turkey platter and hers was huge as well! The mashed potatoes were so creamy and you can tell it's made fresh and homemade- it also came with a homemade biscuit that was mouth watering- buttery flaky moist goodness. My mouth and tastebuds were doing jumping jacks! After I ate the huge portion of food- I was full but saw the specials menu on the blackboard and it showed peach cobbler a la mode- which sounded like it would be a great ending to my fried chicken platter- I ended up sharing it with my sister- it was huge!!! So tasty, sweet, piping hot, dropping with fresh peaches and a sweet sauce and crumb that had the best flavors I've ever tasted! I am so satisfied with my visit tonight and I'm glad I had the chance to check it out again. I came here for brunch because it was local and had great reviews. The coffee was super weak and that was extremely disappointing since I was coming off a night shift! I ordered a waffle and it was just okay! The food here is nothing special. I don't know if I just have high expectations for brunch or if the food here just wasn't that great. The waiters rushed us to eat and tried to get us out as fast as possible. They kept staring at us until we left which was kind of awkward. As far as diners go, this place does everything right. Called up to see if they were open on Easter and the friendliness of the hostess on the phone is what convinced us to give Metro Diner a try. We were seated as soon as we arrived, and our waitress went above and beyond to give us the background on the restaurant and their menu since it was our first time there. I ordered a Bissell Breakfast, and my wife a two egg breakfast. Both of us were STUFFED! Portion are huge, prices are good, and service is incredible. Also love how many different kinds of people are here. Not predominantly seniors like most diners in the area, but great mix of young couples, families with kids, white/black/Asian/Latino and even the Harley riders coming in for a pit stop. Trying too hard. We ventured there for some dinner before a movie. I needed something that was good and well timed without being fast casual. Metro hit the bill nothing more. Service was great, though may be a smidge pushy. From my POV she was really focused on tomorrow's chalkboard, but she was still nice. Now here is my problem, a diner trying to be a slow cook diner on the quick. I ordered the chicken pot pie. The veggies were fresh, the binding had some potato flavor. But the chicken tasted processed but not rubber and the crust could have been pre baked at 9 am. Wifey had the thanksgiving turkey plate. Veggies again fresh, so were the mashed potatoes. One liner: A solid diner/brunch option in an area instead of having to go into the city Dish to order: chicken and waffles. Sometimes, the chicken outshines the waffle and vice versa. But not here! The chicken is cooked to be tender, juicy and crispy. And not only is it delicious, the dish size is quite generous. The waffles are fluffy and served with a delicious strawberry butter which tastes enough like a flavored whipped cream that I didn't feel so bad eating it all. Lastly, they make a dip for your chicken by simply mixing their homemade syrup and hot sauce. While I initially thought to myself "oh no big deal", I was a fan! Walked in as a party of 8 mid-morning in a Friday without advance notice and were promptly seated in the front dining room. Our server, Joanna, was unflappable and attentive. Portions were very generous and prepared flawlessly. The avocado toast was a hit as was my two eggs hash browns bacon and flap jacks breakfast. Room was tastefully decorated and tables and booths efficiently placed to maximize capacity without compromising comfort. Plenty of servers, waiters, and bus staff and all seemed happy to be there.
