This place was a fun spot to start your day. We had a "spunky" waitress which made the meal an adventure. I ordered the meat lovers omelet. Plenty of toppings on the inside and used real bacon but cut up links for the sausage. You can't go wrong with a classic diner and all-day breakfast. I had: -pumpkin pancakes. Seasonal and perfect. I always look for pumpkin everything in the fall, and these satisfied the craving. Good size, perfect amount of pumpkin flavor, fluffy, and some sort of flavored whipped cream (maybe cinnamon?) -over easy eggs. They were cooked PERFECTLY which is rare. They did take forever to come out for some reason, but our waitress took them off the bill without us even saying anything about it because of it -mango sweet tea. A restaurant I used to love that closed had mango sweet tea and I used to get it every time. I haven't found any yet that even came close, but this one was amazing. Well my wife and I were not in the mood to actually drive to Metro diner. So we ordered up an Uber. Uber driver was quick and efficient and handed off very nicely. We made the mistake of ordering Belgian waffles. The mistake was by the time they got it to us instead of our waffles being nice and crispy they were on the soggy side. Our mistake not Metro Diner's.. My wifey got the Belgian waffle with blueberries and strawberries, ( see my photo ) As you can see in the photograph they were very chintzy as far as giving strawberries or actually blueberries and they forgot to actually put powdered sugar on it.... Considering the price they could've been much more generous. I order the fried chicken and waffles. People think it's an odd carbonation but with the chicken being salty and the Belgian waffles being sweet when you add maple syrup which there was lack of in my case it's usually a good meal. But getting a delivery notice ....that becomes a bit soggy ! Also they gave something that was pink that taste a bit like strawberry.NOT as advertised as as their signature salty & sweet item..___IT WAS NOT__?!!! Manager was awesome! I ordered the fried chicken and waffles through uber eats. I got my bag unstapled, and my chicken was missing. I called the diner and they told me that they had put the chicken in the bag and stapled it because it couldn't stay at the restaurant, so my uber driver took the staples out and stole my fried chicken. The restaurant gave me a refund and an entire new order free of charge, their customer service was amazing as well. Thanks to the manager and the wonderful woman who answered the phone. This is the first place we had breakfast on our vacation in Cape Coral, Fla. and after the food silence broke it was determined this would also be the last place we'd eat before we left. When you walk in there's a big sign that says 'where the locals eat'. I thought that's a little pretentious. Well sadly this won't be a glowing review. We got up to 6 problems counted during our first and last visit. 1. Table was wet from being cleaned, menus tossed onto it, yuck. there was ranch dressing on my seat and in the center of the table. Had to clean it myself. 2. A sticker in the middle of the table was peeling up, can't be sanitary. 3. Her burger had a dried out untoasted bun and a side of grease saturated fries. 4. Waiter said he'd bring new order of fries. Didn't bring till we were ready to leave. 5. I had steak and egg breakfast bowl. Steak was tough and chewy. 6. Coffee had an aftertaste of the bottom of an ashtray. 7. Floor was sticky. 8. Lots of avocado on the four pieces of toast and Mom's only complaint was that the bread was rather overdone in the toaster. I chose the "Protein Breakfast" which consists of four scrambled eggs and two portions of breakfast meat. My opinion is that this menu item could be improved by offering the eggs as fried or in some other manner, but they were still good. I asked for and received cheddar cheese mixed through the eggs. When you walk in you're greeted by an open area, the hostess, and a lit up sign of specials on the wall. I uber'd meals from Metro diner during Covid and enjoyed them so I started going to the restaurant recently. We really enjoy their food. Mostly we get the avocado bacon bowl and the bacon avocado breakfast sandwich. It has always been tasty. Today they were a little stingy on the bacon but that's unusual. Update: So went to Metro this past week and honestly was not impressed especially when compared to previous visits. Arrived and was seated and a gentleman came by and asked for drink order and said he would be right back for breakfast order. A full 10 minutes went by and he came back and brought drinks and took our order. Table behind us arrived, ordered, and was served and we still hadn't gotten any food. All told it was about 25 minutes till we got our food. You would think it was because it was freshly cooked. NOT. One order had cold toast and my order had an English muffin that was cold and basically un-toasted. Last few times I have had hash browns here it seems no one can make them crispy. I did what the mgmt suggested in my first review's reply and asked for them scattered. I even told the server "burnt" and "I don't want to see any white hash browns ask them to flip them over" he said "got it boss, crispy hash browns". Needless to say they arrived cooked on one side and uncooked on the inside. Don't know what I've got to say to get crispy hash browns. To top it off we then waited 15 minutes to have the check brought to us after they had already cleared the table. Finally after another 10 for him to come get the card and process the payment we got up and walked towards the hostess stand to just pay anyone. Then the waiter came running out saying "I got ya boss". I'm thinking it might be time to save the trip over the bridge and save the toll. So I learned initially about Metro Diner in Gainesville where we found ourselves doing the UF tour for my daughter. We loved the food there and couldn't wait to go back. Coincidentally, we bought a second home in Cape Coral a year ago and were informed by my ex wife that there was a Metro Diner in Cape Coral. I couldn't believe it so I immediately went the following Sunday morning and boy am I glad I did. We were greeted by Betty the hostess; a fiery and sassy gal in her twilight years that absolutely won us over in the first two minutes of talking to her. Even of the food was horrible I'd muster up an immunity and eat there just to see and talk to her. She's truly special! Once seated we were greeted by another gem indeed by the name of Jasmin. She is the sweetest server I've ever encountered in a long long time. She has a smile that lights up a dark room and the personality that makes you want to sit there until her shift is over so she could sit with you and joke for hours. I've mostly been there for breakfast and in my opinion that's their forte. The Bissell breakfast is the best deal since the Grand Slam came out many moons ago at that other not so good anymore slophouse. They make, on a rare occasion, a corned beef hash that is unequivocally the best I've ever had. We were a party of nine having breakfast on a Saturday morning. This was a new place for my husband and I but known to a few others in our party. The ambiance is typical to a diner and we found it to be clean and bright. A variety of food was ordered and seemed to be enjoyed by all. I had their Fruity Waffle. The waffle typically comes topped with blueberries and strawberry and banana slices. My request to have the blueberries held wasn't a problem. The dish was both pretty and pretty good. The side of crispy bacon was a bit below average but it was, in fact, crisp and was bacon, so nothing to complain about. However, I wouldn't order this again. My husband had the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Croissant. It was a decent version. All the components were fine and tasted as expected. Mimosas were being pushed. I let the blunt, approaching rude, inquiry as to why I wouldn't be having one roll right off me, as I can't be bothered by such behavior. Being from Raleigh, NC (where we've had a Metro Diner for about 5 years now) I've been wanting to try this Metro Diner for a few years, but this was the first trip we could make it happen. It was well worth the wait! My 11 y/o daughter, my mom and myself stopped in today for a late lunch. We all ordered the Philly cheesesteak- they were delicious and HUGE! But as usual, what REALLY stood out at MD was the service!!! From the hostess who sat us to the gentleman who ran our food out to us, it was like a well oiled machine- but our server Donna was second to none! Not only is she AMAZING at what she does, she does it in such a positive way that you can't help but leave there in better shape than you arrived. 13/10 - will definitely eat here again! read more

The waitress was oblivious to us she must of walked past us a dozen times with out asking us if we wanted more coffee which we never got or napkins. The toast was dry and cold so I ask her for butter and she told me they serve it dry so you have to ask for butter???? Update on the Metro Diner in Cape Coral returning to the Metro we were seated immediately and Taylor was at the table instantly! Hot coffee was as reported before excellent. We both ordered the same meals as before for comparison my wife's muffin was toasted this time. Her eggs done properly and hot! I enjoyed the steak and scramble bowl again with it coming out hot and flavorful! The dinner is dressed for The upcoming 4 th of July holiday and is spotlessly clean. This Yelp find was perfect for breakfast. Food is homemade and like your momma would make. Lots of hot coffee. We sat outside and there were fans to stir the air. It is dog friendly outside. Our waitress Jasmine felt like family. Everything was cleaned. Tables were cleaned within minutes of customers vacating their tables.
