I love the one in Jacksonville and was excited that our community was getting one. This one sucks. Sit at the bar and watch how the kitchen handles food and you will never eat here again, gloves not changed. Hands all over food, scratching heads, butts , crotches, then hands on chicken, meatloaf, fries. Food was oily, cold and order wrong. Filth in kitchen =disgusting . Watched a guy put out the garbage and handle bacon without changing gloves. Really? Floor manager two feet away. First and last time we will eat st this one , Went back with some friends that wanted to try it - kitchen food handling the same as before. I took a moment to witness , gloves not changed, hands all over food after scratching heads. Might not bother some, definitely bothers me. read more

This place was great! We went around 10:30 on a Tuesday. Our server was sweet and super quick. All our food came out fresh and hot. I had a breakfast sandwich, can't remember the name but it was heavenly. I also tried bites of my husbands biscuits and gravy, daughters waffle and sons chicken tenders. Everything was so so yummy! This is our 2nd time eating here; both times had great and friendly service. Food serving size very good, timing between order and serving reasonable. Taste was great! The special grits and shrimp, waffles and chicken, blackened shrimp and quesadilla, and an excellent burger with home made chips were all fantastic. I have eaten at the Metro Diner twice now. The first time was decent, but this time no so much. The beef tips plate looked nothing like the picture on the menu. It was more of a beef soup with a spoonful of mashed potatoes on the side. Very disappointing. This was my first time here and sadly my last. When i first walked in there was no one to greet us and the waitresses were either talking or helping somebody else. When we finally got seated the waitress was ignoring us and only took our order and left. When the food finally came the food was not good so we sent a portion of our order away and taken off of our check and the waitress was still ignoring us for no reason. Huevos Rancheros was extremely delicious, and their coffee is the best in town. The wife got a breakfast meal of eggs, grits, sausage, and bacon which she thoroughly enjoyed. We did not walk away hungry. Ken Tighe has done a good job managing the restaurant after coming to Metro Diner from another restaurant in town. We've had some times at Metro Diner where things didn't go too well. This past Saturday, they got everything right. Looking forward to going back and trying something new. read more

I've been to Metro Diner before for breakfast and it was a hit. Today I went and ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes. When my pancakes arrived to the table, they had onions on them. I'm guessing the cook did not clean the grill after cooking something which contained onions and that's how they got into my pancakes. The server took my pancakes back and brought out a fresh stack. These pancakes were missing the pecans and had another piece of onion in the butter. When the manager came by the table, she seemed as if she was upset with me that my pancakes were yet again wrong. My friend ordered the western omelet that made her sick shortly after. She also had cheese grits, with Burnt cheese on top. We did not have a good experience this time around. I'm not sure we'll be back but if so, I hope the experience is much better! read more

If you're into quantity, not quality then this is the place for you. Went there for lunch today. Very crowded and on a wait. Manager asked if we'd like to sit at the counter. Sat down and immediately had to get up and go back to the hostess stand. You could see all the food prep and cooking going in. Very messy. Not appetizing at all. Hubby got the French dip. This is my favorite place to eat in Columbus Georgia. The service is excellent and the food is the best. I usually get breakfast and it has always been cooked perfectly - bacon crisp, eggs just right, and they give you a lot of coffee. Excellent pancakes too. The Avocado and tomato on toast is wonderful. The other item I love is the croissant egg sandwich. I also tried their soup for dinner once and it was not too salty like most restaurant soups are. Found this place on Yelp & stopped for breakfast on our way to FL. They list the calorie content on the menu (which guided my choice to the avocado toast, which was excellent!) My husband had the bacon egg cheese on croissant which he enjoyed. My son had the biscuits & gravy, hash browns with cheese & eggs over medium. The eggs were perfect. Tonight was our first visit. There was a good crowd, but we were greeted warmly and seated right away. The service was good and our waitress, Sharon, was very friendly. The food was delicious. The portions were a nice size. The manager, Aaron, came around to make sure things were going well, which they were. The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was good. Went here with my husband for brunch. The place was busy but the staff friendly and we got seated right away. My husband had the half chicken and waffles, still a generous portion, and it was good. He mentioned one of his waffles was over cooked, but he still ate it all pretty fast, so must not have been too bad. I had the huevous rancheros, it was HUGE! It was tasty and I love that they were able to do a runny yolk, something that many breakfast places here seem to have trouble with. The coffee was not that great, but it was not bad. The server was very nice. Overall it was a good experience with good food. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes. read more

Ok so I gave them a barely 3 because.. though the food was decent... the wait service was sub par.... she wasn't very good at explaining the menu even though it was pretty cut and dry.... the food came out displayed nicely but it was cold.... and missing half of it's items..... she spent alot of time apologizing for all the mix ups but things could have been easily solved by just bringing the correct food and hot..... we waited an awful long time for precooked food... seating for a Sunday afternoon was quick.. the place was packed... waitress need more training....and attitude is everything in this industry....I will try again but at a different time.. read more

The food was awful. I've eaten at bad places before but this one was not even close to bad... it was horrid. The fish and chips tasted like an entire container of salt had fallen in the batter. The portions were small for the kids menu and the prices were high. My omelette was literally a large egg with meat and cheese dropped on it. It wasn't cooked together the way an omelette is supposed to be done. My husband and I couldn't eat the food. It was definitely a "one and done" restaurant. My children even complained about the food and they never complain about anything. We should have listened to the people leaving and gotten in our car! read more

We have been to Metro 3 times now all at different times of the day. The wait staff are always friendly. The good selections are wide which means anyone can find something on the menu from which to choose. My favorite is the chicken and waffles. We get it with chicken tenders not the fried chicken. The wait staff makes a spicy syrup to go along with the meal - half my table didn't like it but the rest of us did. We dip our chicken in it and really liked it. The waffles also come with signature strawberry butter - OH MY! We love that stuff . The food portions are large and you can definitely take half the meal home which is always a plus. We have had several items from the menu and everything has been great. We highly recommend Metro Diner. read more

Everyone really seems to like this place so points for popularity and good service, I ate here not long ago with my sister and grandmother during a busy period and wasn't impressed however. The staff was working hard so I have nothing negative to say about them, but the food wasnt very good, overly greasy and I felt pretty sick afterwards. read more

I came here for the first time the other day and ordered the chicken tender salad. It was pure deliciousness. The chicken was still warm and it had a really good flavor. It was suppose to come with bacon and cucumbers but those were left out. Everything else was put on it. No biggie, it was still good. If I had not taken it to go I am sure they would have fixed the issue if I brought it to their attention. For the price of the salad I don't think you should have to pay a dollar extra for dressing, especially because it comes in such small cups to begin with. I'm just frugal, aka cheap, so maybe it just bugs me. Overall I will for sure be back here. I saw so many other things I want to try and I'm pretty excited to do so. read more
