6 of us had brunch here today - we chose it because of the great Yelp reviews. It's busy, we had to wait a bit - about 1/2 hour. I had avocado toast with 2 eggs and a side of cheesy grits. Avocado toast was great, eggs were sunny side up as asked and the grits had cheese on top & bottom of the bowl. Others had avocado toast with feta, pancakes, fruit waffles and a bowl of fruit. Honestly, I was originally going to go to Segunda next door and I saw the sign for chicken pot pie and eggs Benedict on the door (I got neither Hahha). Anyway, I came before 8am and the place was pretty empty, but within a few minutes people started coming. They serve breakfast and dinner all day so the world is your oyster here. I had the avocado egg sandwich with a side of hash browns and their famous chicken & waffles. You'll want to get the chicken & waffles because the chicken is so juicy and delicious. The waffles come with strawberry butter and it was delicious. The plate is big and you may or may not finish it depending on how hungry you are. The staff was lovely overall. Love a Metro Diner! We've been to a few locations across the state and the service at this one was a little lacking for us when we came in. When I'm able to run out of both water AND Diet Coke... it's been too long since our waitress visited the table. Food was not quite as good as it is at the other locations I've been to. I got the steak and eggs bowl which is one of the BEST breakfasts around. I usually get it with poached eggs because the runny yolk makes a great dish even better. One of the eggs had a hard yolk which was sad but it's still a great dish. Also the cinnamon roll pancakes, to die for. Too much frosting topping in this case? It was drowning in it. But I scraped some of it off and was able to eat most of it. The crispness of the cinnamon makes such a tasty bite. Four stars because I love this chain. read more

This particular location is extremely convenient to my car dealership. I dropped the car off for service and walked across the Street for breakfast. I think Metro Diner is best known for their chicken and waffles but on this early morning I chose bacon, eggs and cheddar on a croissant with crispy hash browns. Metro Diner was actually recommended to me by a friend. We were looking for a cute breakfast spot in Tampa and this place always looked packed (helpful sign that the food is good!). The restaurant really does look like a classic diner. Seems very family friendly, but also a fun spot to meet up with friends. We went on a Sunday morning around 9 am and didn't have to wait for a table. Our server was very kind and quick. I got the cinnamon roll pancakes; they truly tasted like you were eating a cinnamon roll! I'm not normally into sweet breakfasts, but the pancakes were so fluffy and not dense at all. The cinnamon swirl weaved into the pancake was delicious and the cinnamon butter on top melted into a yummy bite. I didn't add any syrup as the pancakes were moist and sweet enough on their own. I have ordered the same exact thing at my visits - Chicken and Waffles with two strawberry butters and once again this was perfection. I won't even try anything else as once you try it you will never go back. My wife always ordered the Shrimp and Grits but this is the third location and they have done something to the recipe as it is no longer her favorite and she is going to order the chicken and waffles from now on and give up on her beloved Shrimp and Grits. My boyfriend and I stopped by on Monday morning for brunch. The place itself is really cute and gives you those traditional diner vibes. We were able to sit right away even though I hear this place has gotten pretty busy. To start off I wanted mint tea unfortunately they didn't have any so I had to settle for black lemon tea. My boyfriend ordered a lemonade it was okay, I wish it was more natural tasting. For our entrees we ordered the croissant French toast and double decker BLT. Both dishes were really good and I would recommend. The croissant French toast is to die for and they are really generous with the portion size. My BLT was perfect and I love that they have gluten-free sliced bread available. Our waitress was really attentive and friendly. I would definitely be back! My first time having lunch here. I read this was a local favorite so I had to try it. Came in during a summer thunderstorm. The place was quite busy, but there were still many tables available. I ordered a breakfast dish; their Fried Chicken Benedict. The plate was large and it had a side of Hash browns. The eggs came very well prepared. They were tender and the yolk was runny, which is how a benedict should be. The hash browns tasted very fresh and not very oily. Was going to go to La Segunda bakery next door for breakfast but saw this place and decided to try it instead. Glad I stopped by as I really enjoyed the food here. Spacious diner with plenty of booth seating. I order the chicken and waffles and it was amazing. First off, the portions are huge. It is definitely a hearty filling meal. While looking for a quick brunch we can across Metro Diner which has solid reviews on Yelp. The great reviews we saw on Yelp was supported by how crowded Metro Diner when we arrived. Lucky for us since we were two people so it didn't take too long. I ordered the breakfast burger which is filling to say the least. This place was busy and our wait was about 30-40 minutes we were told. It ended up being right at that, we were sat a little before 2 pm. We had a main server and she had excellent help. Our server was around quickly and took our drink and food orders. Other employees helped her get everything out in a timely manner. The food took a decent amount of time, probably about 20 minutes. My wife ordered the Avocado Breakfast sandwich. Also ordered at the table was the burger, the fish and chips, the fried chicken benedict and the cinnamon roll pancakes. We were hungry and the food came out just in time. My Metro Club was huge! 4 stacked sandwiches. Three pieces of soft but crispy white toast stuffed with ham, turkey, bacon bits, swiss, and cheddar cheese and decorated with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. My widest bite couldn't fit the size of each sandwich. I'm sure I had more in my beard than I wanted to. The savory meats, salty bacon, and flavorful cheese all blended well together. On any other day, I would have only finished half of this meal. But I was hungry. I finished it all and the fries. The fries were pretty great themselves. Super crispy and seasoned. You got a decent amount with your meal. I cleaned my plate and was surprised I did. My wife's Avocado Breakfast sandwich had scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. She really enjoyed it. Her meal came with fries as well. Everyone was happy with their meals. My buddy Matt got the fried chicken benedict and it looked amazing. He also had a side order of biscuits and gravy that he graciously let me try. It was darn good. Metro Diner is a chain. They have quite a few locations. But don't expect you're typical chain diner food or experience. What you can expect is this: fresh, quality, tasty breakfast served by friendly people at very affordable prices.
