Metropol has never disappointed me. Every time I visit Puerto Rico, I usually end up in a Metropol because it's consistently good. In the mainland, I think this is the only location! But, it's just as delicious. If you've never made it to PR, this is your chance to have the real deal. The Mofongo is just like you'd have in Puerto Rico. They also have a huge menu with everything from steak to soup. Drinks are good too -- especially the mojito. Overall: Excellent place for a good meal. Recommended!! read more

Came here with a big group celebrating a birthday. We had high top table to accommodate 12 people. We.stuffed our faces while gulping refreshing drinks. I had a non-alcoholic motion which was refreshing. The rest had the regular and coconut mojitos. It was the drink of the night as we had over 17 ordered this night. We decided that everything sounded good so we started qith some calamari appetizers and fried cheese with the sweet sauce to dip in. Absolute delish picks. Than for our main we decided to go big and order 2 big platters of a mixture of meats, plantains, and sauces. It was a mixture of steak, and fried pork and chicken with lemon. We engulfed all of it and even got the famous puerto rican rice. I didnt realize how good everything was going to be before I realized I forgot to even take pics! If you like great food and a cool ass atmosphere this is the spot! We're always looking for a good Puerto Rican place. I recently learned about this place so we went here for my husband's birthday dinner. Parking was a little challenging because it's at the main entrance to the mall, and it was busy on a Saturday evening! It seems there is also valet but I'm not sure where. (I'm sure we could have found it if that's what we had decided on). The restaurant is located in the outdoor mall area where there are other restaurants and a stage for music. It w has a fun , casual vibe. The outdoor seating was in this part, and the bar is really pretty. We chose to eat inside though since it's a bit nicer there. It was 6:00 pm on Saturday evening and there were only a couple other families there. When we left around 7:15, there were some more people but still plenty of available tables. We each had a cocktail - El Coqui for me and El Metropol for my husband. El Coqui was a great, refreshing twist on the Moscow Mule. It had strawberry vodka, mango vodka (I think), ginger beer, and lime. My husband felt his drink was really sweet, but it was still good as well. We ordered the sampler where you can choose three items - we had sorullitos, alcapurrias, and empanadillas. These last two were really flavorful and delicious. The sorullitos were good as well but tasted like any other one I've had. For our meals I had shrimp with garlic, rice with gandules, and salad. It wasn't the best garlic sauce I've had, but the shrimp was a good size and still tasty. The rice was great (just slightly salty). My husband ordered the stuffed mofongo with chicken and criolla sauce. He is a mofongo aficionado, so while he said it was good, he wasn't blown away. My daughter had chicken and French fries which were a hit for her hehe. Our server was friendly. The aesthetic inside was nice and a both casual and upscale. Each table had wine glasses and a bottle of wine by default, and the wall had a nice mural on it. In all., we had a good experience here and would go back if we happened to be in the area. read more

This is my second time visiting this Puerto Rican restaurant inside Dolphin Mall and since I didn't get a chance to post a review last time, I had to make sure I did it this time... Because it's just that good! Let me start by saying the service here is amazing every single time. I was greeted the moment I walked in, and throughout the meal, I had about three or four different staff members checking on our table both before and after our food arrived to make sure everything was good. You can really feel how much they care about their guests. I ordered the Mofongo con ropa vieja (highly recommend getting the trifongo, it was absolutely delicious!) Honestly, this might be the best mofongo I've ever had! The appetizer was just as tasty, and the sangria hit the spot. I truly have no complaints about this place. After a long day of work in Miami, we settled in to Metropol to take in the copious air conditioning and feast on authentic Puerto Rican fare. We started with the Sorullitos de Maiz (aka Corn Sticks) to whet our appetite, then plowed into the Sampler Criollo (fried diced pork, chopped skirt steak, fried diced chicken, fried plantains) - each bite was expertly prepared and tasty! Those would have been enough, but then we got Mahi Mahi, shrimp in creole sauce, and plenty of rice and black beans. A nice way to shake off the day and ease into the night. We have come here a few times since it opened some years ago. Since the first time there, we've never eaten inside because there is a very strong smell! It's not a bad smell, but I prefer not to smell glade plug ins while eating. That being said, we have always eaten outside. While Florida is miserably hot majority of the year, the fans and the cross breeze that come through the outdoor area really make the temperature lovely and enjoyable. This most recent time we are there, the outside seating area smelt like garbage. I'm sure this isn't in the restaurants control but it really isn't pleasant. Every now and then there were also people close by smoking which isn't their fault either but does suck! Just something to consider when deciding to eat here. We always go for the mofongo. The first few times it was always pretty decent. I'm not sure what changed but our most recent visit was pretty disappointing. I got the chicken and my husband for the fries pork chunks. Both meats were very salty and somehow his pork chunks tasted more like bbq? The mofongo itself was actually pretty good. Our older child for kids chicken nuggets, rice, and beans. His food arrived within minutes of us ordering and somehow his chicken was cold. It tasted as if it had been sitting out a while and he described it as tasting like bread... not just the breading but the chicken itself. His rice and beans were pretty delicious. I really enjoyed trying Metropol. The Churrasco was very tasty. I also had the mofongo with shrimp and garlic sauce. Very yummy as well. I personally prefer to sit inside because a) AC and b) outside you hear the music from the Dolphin Mall stage which is a bit too loud for me. First of all the Rum Cokes are very good right on point with Don Q .I ordered a dish that brings a little bit of everything pasteles en hoja or the trifungo and the rice with Gandules, the pork shredded the Maduros it was insanely good with those red pickle onions. We also ordered the lomo churrasco w trifongo wowowo which was amazing. The skirt steak was tender and the sauce that it came in with incredible delicious. Another great delivery from Metropol Restaurant via DoorDash! I took advantage of their buy-one-get-one-free deal on select items -- such a great value. The pechuga de pollo deshuesada (boneless chicken breast) was tender and juicy, not dry at all. The picadillo a la Cubana (Cuban-style ground beef) was full of flavor and perfectly seasoned. If I could give a negative 5 stars to a restaurant, I would give it to this one. I have traveled to every state in the Us and except for 4 and I have eaten at many restaurants in 30 years of travel. I have to say this was the worst customer service I have experienced all my travels. I also frequent Miami since our corporate office is here. I went to the restaurant to meet a friend and was looking for something different and my friend suggested this place since it was close to my hotel. I arrived early and was met by (2) hostesses. They had both inside and outside seating. Since I was dressed in business clothes and it was warm and the music was loud, I asked to sit inside. They said I could not eat inside unless I had a reservation. I tried to open the door to look inside and they wouldn't let me....1st crazy thing. So, I decided to sit outside. My friend eventually came and we ordered. We sat and talked for a while. The waiter was good and we tipped him well. The food was ok. Just before we left, I got up to use the restaurant restroom inside and the (2) hostesses said that I could not use the restroom. I'm t was reserved for quests inside that had reservations. They said that I had to use the mall restrooms around the corner. 2nd crazy thing. I spent $65 on an average meal at an average (being nice) restaurant that would not let me use their restrooms. I don't write many reviews but I had to express the completely poor service. In the current climate and economy, you would think they would do better. Studies say that when a business has poor customer service, the customer will tell on average (10) people about their experience. I plan on telling more. I hope you spend your money elsewhere and are a place that values the customer and reasonable expectations. My recommendation is GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! read more

Well I have to admit that I have been back quite a few times since my initial review to visit Metropol restaurant at Dolphin Mall but today I decided to give a quick update for good measure. Well, Metropol continues to knock it out of the park. From the service to the drinks and everything in between they really did an awesome job. Staff were all super friendly and Katerin really made an effort to make recommendations and provide me with excellent customer service. Today I had the "Mar y Tierra Mofongo", which is essentially a Surf and Turf Mofongo which consisted of an 8oz Churrasco Steak with Shrimp Creole and an awesome combination of of Sweet and Standard Plantain Mofongo. Three words for you on this one, Dee, Lish, Us! Atmosphere was pretty laid back but I did come around lunch time. Looking for a little more fun, then stop in after 6 PM on. Fridays and Saturdays and there should be some live music going and the bar should be in full force as well. Overall, a great lunch time experience today. It worked out kinda funny because who was supposed to be my waiter was busy flirting with a girl at the bar and the other gentlemen who brought me water actually talked to me about the menu , what her liked/ didn't etc...so off of that I ordered these corn fritters la appetizers and OMG so delicious and then for dinner the chicken mofongo and OMG so good! I absolutely loved this good! The same guy who made the recommendation came by and checked and me and we talked for a little bit. Wish I would've gotten his name because he made this special. Now I will say if you come here eat on the outdoor patio the vibe and atmosphere is loud and lots of people watching. Inside the restaurant is super clean and nice just not the same! But I mostly want to bring your attention to the service, which was outstanding by server by the name of Katherine. When I go there again, I will definitely ask for her. Service was great! All though the place was emptyish, being a Wednesday, the waitress took her time explaining all the good dishes to us . Portions are quite big, you will indeed take leftover home. El dia 6/13/2025 4:20 pm regrese a comer y nuevamente a Metropol y me atendio Katherine y al pagar mi cuenta nuevamente veo que fue manipulada mi propina. Le pedi explicaciones a Katerine y no supo darme una respuesta. Nos acercamos con la manager Ruth y según a su enterder parece que la mesera estaba colocando doble la propina. Pero la verdad es que los meseros como la vez anterior manipulan la propina y para colmo Ruth no pudo hacer un void o un refund para comprobar que yo estaba en lo correcto. Cualquier persona que vea su recibo puede darce cuenta de esta anomalía. Manipular la propina no es legal. La primera vez me quede esperando que el manager me contactara como dijo lo haria y nunca sucedió. Esto lo voy a escalar a una entidad competente y denunciar este comportamiento ilegal. On 6/13/2025 at 4:20 pm, I returned to eat and again at Metropol. Katherine served me. When I paid my bill, I saw that my tip had been manipulated. I asked Katerine for an explanation, but she couldn't give me an answer. We approached Ruth, the manager, and according to her, it seems that the waitress was double-tipping. The truth is that, like the last time, waiters manipulate tips, and to top it off, Ruth couldn't issue a void or refund to prove I was correct. Anyone who sees their receipt can see this anomaly. Manipulating tips is not legal. The first time, I waited for the manager to contact me, as he said he would, but he never did. I'm going to escalate this to the appropriate authority and report this illegal behavior. read more

The pulpo was extremely fresh and flavorful, and well the alcapurrias you can't ever go wrong ordering these to start! For our entrees we ordered Camarón asopao , Chuleta can-can and vaca frita and of course a side of Yuca mofongo. Let me just say WOW. Every bite of our meal was exquisite. The food here is mediocre. It was tasty but not worth the hour wait on a not so busy Sunday night. The service is absolutely horrible. My family and I were able to order drinks 10 minutes into sitting down. The drinks came another ten minutes after that and then we ordered. The food came a good 40 minutes after that and when it did come we were left with no silverware to eat. Finally I got up after trying to wave someone down for another ten minutes and I asked for some silverware. The food isn't good enough to make me return. Maybe if the service was better I may give it another chance but it was just horrible. Not worth trying this place out or giving it another chance. Also they add gratuity to your check which could be why the staff doesn't care how long you wait. In any case I wouldn't recommend it and I won't be back. read more

This place is located at Dolphin Mall by the main entrance.....there used to be a bar-restaurant named Tavern Opa and it was a nice place but unfortunately the owners stopped paying taxes and they had to close the business for tax evasion. However, I'm glad that Metropol opened their restaurant in Miami, Florida since their first restaurant was opened in Puerto Rico in 1965. I ordered the Ropa Vieja Mofongo, my husband ordered the Fiesta Boricua and omg the food was delicious. I took a bite of the pasteles that my hubby ordered and it transferred me to the Island. The service was great and the food was delightful. This place had such delicious food! My family and I really enjoyed the mofongo. I had the ropa vieja mofongo and I was obsessed. Family had the churrasco mofongo with bechamel sauce, and mofongo with shrimp and churrasco (surf and turf vibes). One of the drink specials was passion fruit margarita and I was stunned at how big of a drink it was. The service was also great, really friendly people here.
