The best authentic quality Turkish Mediterranean food and experience you'll find in the Bay Area by far. You will be transported to Turkey with their menu. Best to order a la carte. Their highlights for me were their yogurt, eggplant and Adana. Ambience : simple, yet sophisticated open space with good size bar and some upstairs seating, and white/paper table cloth. Service: authentic efficient staff Food: in addition to the normal menu, they had seasonal specialties. The Turkish flatbread pizza was excellent. I've had a lot of Mediterranean food in my life but never had the opportunity to dine at a Turkish restaurant and wow color me impressed. This food was familiar to the Mediterranean food we all know and love but honestly better. The food was like nothing I've tried before and everything was delicious. Starters: We started out with some of the house favorite appetizers like Atom, which is a spicy yogurt based dip and Girit which is a kind of like a feta dip with pistachios. They were so unique and delicious I found myself filling up on the amazingly delicious bread they provided for dipping. We also got the Enginar appetizer, which were artichoke bottoms marinated in olive oil and served with fava beans. Apparently fava beans are big in Turkish cuisine and I'm just gonna say I'm here for it. Entrees: For entrees we got the Adana, which was the most delicious and succulent version of the dish I've ever had. I heard myself mmmm-ing with each bite. It was served with this amazing tomato salad, a pepper and fluffy rice. I keep dreaming of this dish for when I'm back in Sunnyvale next. Ambiance: Meyhouse recently moved locations and is now located closer to the main restaurant area in downtown Sunnyvale. So much in this universe, "Baby, I just gotta know!" Refet came out to check on me. Could not pass up the opportunity to ask for his fave. He said the liver. Yaprak Ciger. "I said, Tell you honestly..." I've hated liver since early childhood with the exception of foie gras. Bien sûr. Refet said he did too, but this dish was different! Rolled with it! He was right! The Yaprak Ciger is the best gourmet manifestation of liver I have ever tasted. I'm starting to doubt the value of my culinary hatreds & misconceptions. "I was wrong. What else can I say, girl. But I blame my head and yes my heart." The Yogurtlu came out. My gosh. The Char-grilled meats in this rich tomato sauce with yogurt was just incredible! Hiding underneath were green and red pepper both of which I too was wrong to hate for so long. "I'll admit it's my fault." The last few times I've walked down Murphy street, I always thought everyone eating at Meyhouse seemed happy and the food looked so good... so I'm glad we finally came! They serve Turkish food, which I am not very familiar with, but it was fun to try. Some of the flavors reminded me of Greek food. The menu largely consists of hot and cold Mezes (small plates) with some larger grill/meat entrees as well. From at least what we got, it seems most of the Mezes are meant to be dipped/spread on the Pita, which was great since I'm down for any excuse to eat with my hands, and the pita was fantastic- so fresh, soft and addictive. We had multiple servings of the pita basket- and I don't think they charge for them. Kopoglu- grilled eggplant and redpepper on garlic yogurt. I'm a huge eggplant and garlic yogurt gal so this dish was heavenly for me Girit- a chunky spreadable cheese, loved the crushed pistachios mixed in. Mihalic- this was from the hot mezze menu: flavorful melted cheese. They also serve Pides - which were kind of like a thin pizza pocket to me. We had the Kiymali which was so hearty and delicious with cheese, ground beef. The bread the ingredients were packed in was also very fresh. It's served as a stuffed long loaf which is sliced into pieces, so works well for sharing. I also really enjoyed the glass of Pinot Noir. How did we not know about this place any sooner! This is a Turkish restaurant but I like that it's more diverse than the normal Mediterranean restaurant and the quality of food and service are both very good. First off, their bread is super good. Warm, chewy and buttery! They also give you refills which we finished two baskets happily. The good pastry skill is also incorporated into their pides. The bafra is quite good with buttery pastry and warm minced beef and onions inside. We also had their daily special which is a grilled beef tongue. The beef tongue was very thinly sliced and paired well with the tomatoes and onions. They tasted very soft and juicy. Their version of kabobs is Kasap Kofte, the meat comes in nugget size and are soft and juicy. The tomatoes comes with spices that made it taste sweet and fresh. The service is great and the hostess (maybe the owner) chatted up with us about the diverse regions the restaurant covers. The house special flatbread comes from the east side for example. So overall a very pleasant experience. I think compared to DishDash, Athena Grill, Caspian and Chelokababi, I prefer Meyhouse the best. read more

Entering the restaurant a little late, the servers still accommodated our group welcomingly. Their complimentary bread served as the strong foundation for many of their appetizers: we ordered the fire-roasted eggplant, vegetarian hummus, and Turkmen dumplings. This was my first experience at Meyhouse in Sunnyvale. My husband and I dined on a Wednesday evening. We loved the salad and the basket of bread with herb infused oil offered before the meal. We ordered grilled Branzino fish which was deboned by the server. We also shared lamb lollipops which were served with house potatoes. We enjoyed the meal. We tried Meyhouse last night and were extremely impressed with our experience. We tried the chef's tasting menu, which was a lot of food, but everything we had was good to absolutely incredible. This restaurant is on par with many Michelin Star restaurants I have been to. The food is impeccably prepared with amazing flavors. Each dish that came out I couldn't wait to discover the new flavors that Meyhouse's chefs created. My favorites were their grilled octopus, beef with tapenade and baklava, but everything else was also superb including the branzino, lamb, hummus, bread, roasted vegetables, and many other dishes we tried. The service was second to none. And the ambience was great. I will be coming back many times here! read more

First time at this wonderful neighborhood restaurant. It had delicious, tasty dishes with a fantastic wait staff and service. My lamb was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and my husband's branzino was light and delicate. The ambiance allowed for a romantic setting and the noise level was ideal for conversation. Had lunch here on Saturday 2/22/2025. One of the best dining experiences we ever had, and modesty aside, that's saying a lot given our vast fine dining experience. Excellent service and excellent food and wine. I wish I could find the precise adjectives to use - I would just say 100% memorable, absolutely delicious, and will aim to come back when we are in the area. The first 2 times I went this place my experience were good. However I went there last week for the third time and the waitress was rude. She serviced us with an attitude and when we checkout, she gave us a wrong bill which was $100 higher than the actual bill. We pointed it out immediately, then instead of checking if she was wrong, she said it was because of the tips. We told her this is far more than tips, then she admitted she charged extra. We told her to give our credit card back, but she hold it longer for some reason. We finally got another receipt with corrected bill and thought this is over. Yet now checking my credit card bank statement, it still lists the wrong $100 higher bill. I am wondering if she just for her own convenience didn't correct it and just announcing she had. read more

Neither of us have ever had Turkish food before today, and had a lovely introduction to it. Isaq was our food consultant and server, so kind, respectful, polite, and with a delightfully warm smile, he made us feel welcome immediately. The man who brought the Turkish bread, and plates of food was also very kind and attentive. We really appreciated such dedicated service and hospitality. After pouring over the menu, we finally decided on Bafra, which is ground beef and onion baked inside flatbread, the Kasap Köfte, seasoned grass-fed beef patties, and Turkish tea. A basket of Turkish bread was brought while we waited for our food, and what lovely taste and texture. After eating the first pieces of it, we thought it would be nice to have something to dip it into and decided on ordering the Atom, a yogurt dish which was described as extremely spicy. The pickled peppers that were sliced and mixed in, and the fried red peppers for garnish gave it a bit of a bite, but we didn't find it that spicy, just really tasty on everything! When the Bafra came out, our eyes pop out in delight. Such an impressive looking bread! The bread was very thin, crisp, yet chewy and the meat was delicately seasoned. We agreed we would be happy to come back and make a meal of several of the different stuffed breads. The kofte patties were delicious, too. They came served with rice, tomatoes, and a charred pepper on top of a thin sheet of bread that was reminiscent of lavash. We were happily stuffed after eating all of that food and drinking cups and cups of Turkish tea. What a great meal. I tried this place on a recommendation from a friend and was pleased with the quality of the food. We ordered the lamb chops and they were served unseasoned with salt and green pine puree on the side to flavor the meat. The lamb was exceptional with no gamey aftertaste, you could tell that it was top tier. My only reservation was the flavor was lacking, there was absolutely no seasoning. The only flavor was a smokies that came from the grilling. Perhaps it is a Turkish touch, but most Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurants I've tried, the lamb always has some seasoning, be it garlic, oregano, Italian seasoning, lemon etc. The service was very good, the food was brought out promptly and they checked up on us often. The seating is a little bizarre. The restaurant was mostly empty but we were sat right next to one of the only couples in the place. Thec tables are set up in aisles so it seems like guests will be sat next to strangers rather than getting their own table. For high quality Turkish cuisine you can not go wrong here, it just wasn't a good fit for me. read more

Hands down the best Turkish restaurant in the Bay Area and perhaps even the States. It tastes like home cooking and every bite transports you to a world full of nothing but pleasure and delight. I've been here a few times now and every time I come I'm slightly worried that the magic will wear off but I've found myself pleasantly surprised each and every time without fail. Meyhouse delivers on everything - authenticity, flavor, service and environment. It is not a quick, cheap meal but you get what you pay for and it's definitely worth it. Even if you are intimidated and unfamiliar with Turkish cuisine, I encourage you to be adventurous and give it a try. The staff can help you order if you tell them what you generally like. From their kopoglu and dolmas to their kofte and adana kebab, I have yet to taste a dish from Meyhouse that has been anything but delicious. They take an approach of highlighting their quality ingredients and keeping dishes simple. Even the bread is amazing and it's no surprise since it's made in-house from scratch in their own wood fire oven in the back; it's fluffy, soft yet chewy, and flavorful. You can even have a little olive oil with it or if you are feeling bold, dip it in the kopoglu or spread some girit meze on top. My new tradition is to order a whole bread 'to go' every time I dine there. It's that good! As far as beverages, it's best to end your meal with some tea! During your meal, there is an array of great wine options, but I'd recommend trying the Turkish wine since it's a bit harder to find elsewhere. If you are feeling brave, you can go for the Raki but I have to warn you, it's not for everyone. The staff and owners are friendly, welcoming and always aim to please. The environment is casual and inviting. In pre-covid times they even had musical events at times. We always had quality service with the just right amount of interactions - they made sure to check on us and help us if we needed something without being overbearing. All their suggestions were spot on and I always felt like they were trying to help rather than upsell us. We felt like part of the family. Tried the following sides which came with the plates: walnut salad, babaganoush, eggplant salad, hummus. Seriously one of the best lamb kabobs I've ever had - it was so moist and tender and flavorful. Sides and bread are great too. I love the house made bread and lavash.
