The vibe inside is super cute, and I looooove the option to have a non-alcoholic michelada and would come back for that alone. The food is solid, we ordered the chips & guac, burrito, and red snapper. Honestly, I wish they offered complimentary chips and salsa but I guess that's not the clientele they're going for. The burrito was really flavorful and huge, good for all your burrito lovers out there and I think really worth the price. The red snapper was a delightful dish to try, I love fish and the way they prepared it was unique. I don't think it was worth the price tag, but bay area prices I guess... This place gets 5-stars for the vibe and decor, with good food options. A great place for a date. I think the prices are exorbitant for what is being offered, even the appetizers seem overpriced and for an area saturated with good Mexican food they could mix up the menu to make some items more palatable to your wallet. They've only been open one day but it looks like they have a successful formula. The dining room is clean, bright, open and cheerful. I counted maybe 8-10 tables - a few two-tops and a few four-tops. There is a long, communal table for individuals or couple can sit at on tall metal stools. You have the option of ordering at the counter, paying and sitting down, but I noticed some people had full on table service. With some help, we ordered and paid at the counter. At their recommendation, I ordered the Enchiladas Estilo Apatzigan with pollo asado. Three homemade tortillas are dipped in guajillo sauce and lightly fried then filled with pickled onions, cotija cheese and oregano. A tangy green and red sauce was ladled over, then topped with shredded cabbage queso and tomato, and a side of cubed, spiced potatoes. Hubby had the Mole Poblano Enchiladas which consisted of two fat enchiladas filled shredded chicken and cheese covered in a savoury mole poblano, and topped with ajonjoli (sesame), queso, sliced red onion and crema. It was served with rice and your choice of black beans or white Peruvian beans. Hubs had a bottle of Pacifico while I sipped on a pina agua fresca. It wasn't long before our food came. Both dishes looked beautiful and were absolutely delicious. The sauces are not shy on flavour. Hubby and I were stealing bites from each other's plates so I can totally recommend the two dishes we had. Wait staff is friendly and eager to please. It is obvious that they are confident and proud of their menu. They have a nice menu of signature cocktails, wine, bottled beer to wet your whistle as well as fresh juice, agua fresca and bottled bottled sodas. They have a few vegetarian selections on the menu and some of the sides may be vegan. Just know that some of the sauces (mole and quajillo) use chicken stock, but it may be possible to order a vegan meal if you exclude cheese and crema. They have a large menu selection that looks promising and I think the chef and kitchen are going to rock it. Note: They also serve breakfast but I didn't get a chance to see that menu. I was told that for now, they are open daily from 8am - 10pm. As things settle down they may change their hours/days open. Staff is masked up, friendly and helpful. Cheerful music in the background adds to the ambience. For payment, they accept cards and Google/Apple Pay. They are next to a parking lot for the nearby grocery store but it is fenced off and a bit of a walk around. There is ample street parking. Definitely looking forward to exploring their menu. This building has been vacant for 20 or more years and then finally, Mi Casa Grill moves in to the neighborhood! What a breath of fresh air this restaurant is for El Cerrito! We went for the rare date night and were expecting, a more typical, Mexican Restaurant in menu and ambiance. This place has creative and welcoming energy you can feel walking across the parking lot to their front door. They built a parklet patio and have multi colored flags waving on its' rooftop. Inside, their are well known and beautiful symbols of Mexican culture that can't help but make you feel at home - a corner sanctuary and statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a credenza with Dia De Muerte motif, a beautiful wooden center bar, and to top it off a stunning wall mural of Frieda Kahlo blessing all who come! The food was also a surprise with fresh ingredients, artistically plated, that were fun to eat. We had chips, pico de gallo with guacamole, a side of black beans, a chicken Cesar and the red snapper. The chips were fresh and homemade, the salsas colorful, the tortillas soft and warm, the Cesar lightly dressed with nicely marinated chicken and cheese toast, but the snapper.. OMG.... It was like eating art. An entire snapper fish was grilled and plated with a colored mango salsa on top, sitting in a lemon butter sauce. Totally unexpected. Eager to come back and see what other unique touches they have up their sleeve! This was our second time here! We went Saturday 5/10. It was amazing. The first time we were here was amazing as well! Our waiter was the same man as before. He is a little rushed, he brings us the one thing we ask for and then darts away. I dont mind he's really nice. Just wish he wouldnt disappear so fast. And actually engage with us, the other man, younger looking, he recognized us and asked how everything was, he even took the rest of our order. We had a very nice lunch here. My wife loved her fish sandwich and side salad and I enjoyed my Chicken Tinga tostaditos. The food was both delicious and attractively presented. Flan was delicious - pretty much your traditional flan, definitely from scratch. The menu is extensive with many of the usual things you see on menus and some things you don't see so often. The prices range from very affordable to a few high end items. The breakfast menu looks worth returning for. Service was friendly and attentive and the space is light and bright. It's painful to write this review, because the people who work here are super nice and I think they're on the right mission, which is to bring a healthy Mexican restaurant to an area that doesn't have options in this category. I have tried many of the items on the menu and I can safely say that across the board, the food is bland and uninteresting. Everything from the salsas to the beans (I'm under the impression that they don't use lard here, which honesty to me is a minus; I'd at least like to have the option), to the rice w/out chicken stock or flavor, to the meats. I just can't get down, sorry. I've gone back ~10-15 times (I usually give a spot 2-3 tries, just in case it was an off-day) as my better half likes it compared to a lot of other spots in the area. And yes, I can say that it's healthier than many of those, but with a serious cost, and that cost is taste. Much of what you find accompanying the food (toppings, sides, etc.) are extremely plain. The vegetables aren't seasoned much, there are a lot of raw ingredients, etc. And the worst part (for me; it's a pet peeve of mine) is that the food looks incredible in the photos and even when it shows up at your table. It's designed to look good. And I don't mind that it looks good either! But I would take better-tasting over good-looking any day. If I had to make a choice, that is. That all said, the atmosphere is nice (2 stars), the place is clean, and lots of locals seem to stop in. It's conveniently located to the BART if that's something you need. read more

They were double layered tortillas with melted cheese in between, and all three were filled to overflowing with very fresh and flavorful ingredients. Stumbled upon this gem from an amazing foodie Ms Boozie brunch herself and it did not disappoint! The ambiance was beautiful, I felt like I was in Cabo. The food chef's kiss!!!
