I had the poblano chicken enchiladas for dinner and they were a tremendous upgrade from the typical tex-mex ish enchiladas. As a latina, these were the bomb and pretty authentic especially for Dallas. This is the best Latin food in the area. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of their food. I ordered a #11, which is supposed to be a burrito, taco, rice and beans. The food was barely warm when I got it. Their rice and beans were average at best. The taco was filled with ground meat only with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese on the side. The meat was ok but nothing to brag about. The worst part was the burrito. I've ordered burritos from many different places and they usually fill up anywhere from a fourth to half of the plate. Mi Cocina's burritos were no bigger than your average enchilada with nothing but meat in it. I did get a side topping with it but they didn't really help. When I mentioned all this to the server, they were understanding and admitted that their burritos are small. No offer was made to compensate me (even if only to remove my iced tea from the bill). I wasn't asked if I wanted to speak with a manager either. If I ever visit this place again, I'll definitely order something different and make sure that the server knows about my poor experience the last time that I went. If you want average, at best, Tex-Mex food, you can go to Mi Cocona. However, if you want really good Tex-Mex food, go somewhere else. read more

Love me some Mi Cocina. Whenever in the Dallas area, I hit one of their locations for good TexMex. But I was surprised to find one in the Galleria, and pleasantly at that. Next to the ice skating rink on the lower floor, this location is quite lovely in design and decor, and especially nice considering it's in the mall. It has all the features and selections that any other location would have. I love love love their brisket tacos, and that I got. Additionally, my gf, daughter and I shared a Chile Con Queso with brisket...OMG...so good. My daughter couldn't finish her plate, so I had a few bites of her cheese enchilada, and wow, possibly my new favorite. We had a wonderfully nice and attentive server, Kevin. Three thumbs up. We stopped here for lunch during our visit to Galleria on a Saturday. The restaurant was pretty busy so they are doing a good business. We were seated promptly and placed our order shortly thereafter. The salsa was as spicy as ever, and the chips from a bag do not bother me at all as another reviewer complained. The menu has not changed much over the years and I went for the nachos which were a favorite of mine back in the day when Mia Cocina was my favorite Tex-Mex in Dallas. That, admittedly, was a long time ago. They were good, but not presented as attractively as I remember, and they were pretty salty. Maybe it was too much cheese, or maybe the meat was over seasoned. I am not sure, but they were salty. The salty theme continued to the chicken soup that the wife ordered. She could not finish it because it was so salty. The servers were working hard at all of the tables. Our server was efficient but not very friendly. He was not unfriendly, just not friendly. Maybe he was stressed. Anyway, it was not a bad experience, but not the top notch food and service that I remember from back in the day. The location is cool if you can get a seat to watch the ice skaters. Went to Mi Cocina in the Galleria Mall with my mom on Saturday and we really enjoyed it! I was surprised to see the Mi Cockna on the bottom floor of the all next to the Ice Rink. It definitely kept the restaurant cool and relaxed. It took a little while for a waiter to help us, so another waiter assisted with getting our drinks. He was super nice and then another waiter assisted us. I think that he might have been a little stressed as his welcome was not so warm, but he was helpful. My mom ordered the el ray platter that came with a chicken taco, cheese enchilada, and beans. She ordered all beans, but they gave her rice as well, so they actually gave her extra beans because of that which was really nice! I decided to get their Rico salad, which was larger than I thought and so delicious. Our waiter suggested the lime vinaigrette and I am so glad that he did! The dressing was absolutely delicious, a little tangy, and really brought out all of the flavors of the salad. The salad had an awesome mix of greens, avocado, fajita chicken, tortilla strips, and bacon. I wish that I hadn't eaten before I went to the mall as I wanted to keep eating! The reason for 2 starts is because the food was good but the problem was the host and how the manager handled the situation. Me and my friend came, told the host 2 people, he said it will be a 10 to 15 minutes wait, so we said it was fine, we will wait at the bar for our sit, 12 minutes pass, we saw 2 tables being empty, so I approach the host to remind him that we are still at the bar waiting, then he said "we're just waiting for the tables to cleaned", and the response was with an attitude, so I return to the bar, as soon as the tables were cleaned, the host sat some people that just arrive and took both table and totally forgot about us, my friend confronted him and he just completely ignored us So we ask for the manager, my friend explained the situation with the host and her response was "we have a table now", which irritated us because she ignored or didn't understand that his host glanced on us twice, made us wait for 12 or more for our table while he sat other people that just walked in So after this incident, if I come back to the galleria, probably not eating there again, they're too many places to pick to have lunch, Mi cocina is last option, if I ever return, hope that host does a better job read more
