Their Mambo Taxi's and Limosine's are absolutely delicious and deceiving since they do the trick without making you think you're drinking something that grows hair on your chest. Usually I'm not one to eat at the mall but this location is actually pretty nice, complete with tons of seating and a spacious bar area (so you can drink while watching people skate!) and it has it's own restroom-score! We had a huge party here and our server, Justin, was awesome. He dealt with our annoying antics as the Taxi's and Limosine's were consumed as the night went on and on and was quick with refills of drinks, chips and getting everyone's order correct. Anytime i'm in Dallas, a Mambo Taxi {or 2} and Queso Blanco from Mi Cocina are a MUST! Even if we have other lunch or dinner plans, I always make sure to squeeze a visit in! This last time I was in Dallas, my fiance and I went for Happy Hour because there was a location right by our hotel. I've been coming to Dallas on and off throughout the last 10 years and boy have their locations grown! There are SO many throughout the Dallas area now! Now, I know you're saying - What the heck is a Mambo Taxi?! They actually have it trademarked! It is a frozen margarita poured over their house-made Sangria! I'm from California, so I know authentic Mexican food. I sat at the bar where I had the nicest and most attentive bartender named Gerardo. Even though it was busy, Gerardo was cranking out drinks, and taking care of everybody in the bar area. Kudos to Gerardo! I ordered the Rico Chicken Salad with Garlic Vinaigrette and a Double Barrel Margarita! Both were AMAZING! The best part was the guacamole! If someone prepared this and placed it next to homemade; I wouldn't be able to tell the difference! It's just THAT good!! This is a standard Mi Cocina except for it's location. Being in the mall next to an ice skating rink is a pretty significant change in the atmosphere we've all come to expect from a Mi Cocina. It kinda throws me off... it's just an odd vibe. But when it comes down to it, it's the same great food and drink. Nice fresh cold salsa, good queso, great enchiladas and charro bean soup, a solid breakfast menu, delicious refried beans and rice. Plus their margaritas are consistently good. Great place to grab a bite to eat if shopping at the Galleria. It's located on the bottom floor next to the ice rink. There's two bars inside and a full restaurant area. For lunch I ordered the brisket tacos and a sangria. The sangria was huge! I was expecting a small wine glass but was pleasantly surprised with a glass bigger than my water glass. The brisket tacos were great! So tender and flavorful. Service was pretty quick considering the amount of people there on a Sunday at lunch. Do you know how hard it is to find a frozen cocktail in Dallas? I came here because it was across the street from where I was staying. It was so good I came here 2 days in a row. Both times the service was beyond friendly and super fast. All the items on the menu are hand crafted and made fresh daily ( never frozen ) They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. I found the salsa to be a bit too hot -but that's the only thing I found to be less then 100%. The drink of choice for myself was "Delemma" it's a frozen margarita made with Tequilia, Sangria, Mango & Strawberry. So good ! I had the tortilla soup one of the two days - full of chicken breast, jack cheese, tortilla chips and avacado. Omg - I don't normally like soup - but this was the exception ! The main meal was the Quinceanera Salad ( with no onions, no mango, no pineapple ) And add steak. I can't tell you how awesome and yummy this was! I loved that there was Jicama in it ! Being from Los Angeles I have high expectations for Mexican food. Then again I realized I'm NOT reviewing Mexican food, rather the awesome Tex-Mex cuisine. So with that said...let's begin. As soon as we arrived the hostess was quick to seat us. Before I could even blink chips and a delicious red salsa appeared. The type of salsa that doesn't run off your chip and make you stain your white pants. No sir...not around here. I ordered tortilla soup. I think looking over at the ice rink gave me chills and set me in the mood for it. When it arrived I was left a bit puzzled. I didn't find TORTILLAS in my TORTILLA soup. SO being the ghetto and innovative person that I am, I crushed some of the tortilla chips we had left over into my soup. The soup was way too much on the watered down side. I definitely wish I had ordered something else. The significant other ordered the 3 enchiladas combo. Ground beef and chicken flowed out of the enchilada. Just how my mama makes them! They did seem cold after a few minutes. The tortilla they used didn't stand up to the environment. With that said I would eat here again and probably order chips and salsa verde. NEW Sigh! I really want to like Mi Cocina because some family members and friends love it. But as one who worked as a GM for 20 years and who dines out at least 7 times a week, I have to sigh with dissatisfaction with the mediocre food at a high price compared to competitors,' and give it just an ok for a score. Today's visit was DALLAS GALLERIA location. NO SMILES FROM THE HOSTESS OR BARTENDER OR ANY OF THE STAFF. Grim feeling the whole time. I did see the GM smile and chat with an obvious regular customer at the bar, but that was it. Food was just ok. Chips tasted stale and unsalted. Salsa was great as always. Enchiladas and taco arrived not the least bit warm. I watched the wait and bar staff to see if they were friendly or smiled at ANYONE- never happened. I had thought for sure that I had written a review on Mi Cocina. This is one of my regulars as my office is in the Galleria Towers. First, I have to commend the wait staff...I always feel well-taken care of at Mi Cocina. I also have to say that the food is good. Here is my rundown of several of their dishes: Tortilla Soup - always very good, but a bit pricey if you ask me. Rico Salad - this is truly and excellent salad. Fresh greens with your choice of beef or chicken fajita meat. Excellent with either the spicy bleu cheese dressing or the crazy hot (but really tasty) chile lime vinagrette. Nachos Locos - Be forewarned, these are nachos, just plain nachos with taco meat, beans and cheese. Nothing outstanding that would warrant the name Nachos Locos. They do come with Guacamole and sour cream, but I'd hardly call that crazy. Just saying... Fajitas - typical, nothing to add. Fajitas sunset style - I know people who love this, but not me. They take perfectly good fajitas and cover then in fried onions and cheese sauce...blch. Cocina Changa - This used to be called Lucy Changa and I really, really wonder why they changed the name. Did Lucy piss someone off? Was there a bad breakup? was Lucy disowned? Anyhow, it is a chimichanga. It's a fine choice if you are jonesing for a chimichanga, but I think there are too many better options to go with this unless you absolutely have to. Mama's Tacos - These are fabulous tacos, served on soft corn tortillas. I was mistaken by the description that started with "crisp" in thinking that it was a crunchy taco. It is not, but still, very very good. Mama's Chicken con Hongos - When my friend and I are trying to do a little better with our diets, we will skip the chips and split and order of this, which is pan seared chicken and mushrooms. It is easily enough for two. Very tasting and very satisfying. Luann's - This is the best deal at Mi Cocina. I will often order this giant combo plate (for 9.99), eat the guacamole tostada and the taco for lunch one day, and save the enchilada, cheese taco and rice and beans for the next. #4 - Sometimes you just need a taco and enchilada dinner. This one does just fine Arroz Blanco - all of "The Moderns" dishes come with a different rice that while called "Arroz Blanco" it is actually green from cilantro and quite tasty. Make sure you request this rice regardless of what you order. They will switch out the regular spanish rice and it is well worth it. Egg Dishes - I haven't had these, but I think it's worth noting that they serve egg dishes such as chilaquiles any time. read more

They always recommend dishes for those that are trying to decided between their delicious entrees.
