Upon arrival, you had to scan a code to upload their menu, as they were still observing close COVID protocol. Not a big deal on our group. I ordered the #4 on the lunch menu, cheese enchilada with a beef taco, rice and beans. My order arrived, the enchilada were dry and cold. The cheese inside the enchilada had already hardened. The enchilada was supposed to have onions, but there were none. The cheese for my taco was also hard and cold. I never complained about my meal. However, our server brought out a fresh plate, but unfortunately it wasn't fresh at all. My meal tasted like it was pre made and just waiting in a cold window to be served. In town for business and got Mi Cocina to go. I tried the fried guacamole tacos as I didn't really know what to expect. To both my pleasure and dismay it is exactly as it sounds. I was in Fort Worth for work meetings and my team was kind enough to invite me to lunch. I may have mentioned that I was having a tough time finding good Mexican food in Salt Lake city, so I think my colleague selected this spot with me in mind. The space is enormous, which I am sure is Texas sized. Plenty of space for large groups or for date night. Chips and salsa were pretty good and the salsa was nice and spicy. I could chow on an entire bowl of those chips myself without sharing a single chip. Historically, my wife makes Pozole every Christmas and that is the only time I get to enjoy it. This year, she didn't make it so I was really happy to see it on a menu. Pretty good (not as good as my wifes, I have to say that or I'll be on the couch or in the guest room if she reads this) with nice flavor profiles. I have been craving legit tamales, so when the waitress asked me what I'd like to eat, I asked. "Are the tamales as good as the ones you make at home?" "Not as good as mine, but very good." I ordered the tamales and they were the best restaurant tamales I have ever had. Masa was flavorful and moist, meat was spicy and tender. The sauce on the bottom of the plate was good enough to drink by the pint!! I wish I could have this for dinner tonight! Overall, this is a really good spot and when I return to Fort Worth for work, I will be dining here again. read more

If I rated only on the ceviche I would give it a 5 star rating but unfortunately I can't be that bias. So I will say first the ceviche is Absolutely Amazing. Fresh and so much I usually have leftovers for a snack later in the day. Atmosphere is good too, it loud because it seems to always be busy since I come at lunch. I need to pay more attention to the decor but with all that's going on I can't comment. Salsa is spicy the way I like it the chips however are a bit hard and thick, I prefer a thin chip. I can't say they're bad, just not what I prefer. Ok so here is my only real problem. This server, not all of them this one lady Maribel I have had her a couple of times and she definitely has an attitude. She is subtle about it but the little cut of her eyes is easy to spot. Oh and when I asked for a to go box for my salad and then she didn't bring a cup for dressing I asked for one. Her response cutting her eyes and fake smile... "is there anything else you want, a glass of water to go?" It was very sarcastic I should have said yes. That was the 3rd time she showed attitude during that lunch but she is never in a good mood when I've been there before. Next time I will make sure and not sit in her section. So shortly after my review Tanner D from MiCacina sent me a message expressing the concern for service. For this I am adding back one more star because that is for real service. We all get tired at work and busy, I can understand and it takes more than one thing to get under my skin. Lets hope we all have a great day! One last thing. My burrito had so much fat in it that I took out all the meat and it didn't really have much flavor. I won't ever eat here again.

Surprisingly the prices aren't terrible but there were many issues tonight. 1) My Bloody Mary is disgusting. I'm pretty sure they just used tomato juice and not Bloody Mary cocktail. It's so bland, the vodka really comes through. Ew! 2) Their chips are not great. 3) Our server was terrible which isn't always the fault of the restaurant, but I blame Mi Cocina on this because he was that slow at coming to check on us. I think it's because he had too many tables. 4) Read the menu carefully! Their idea of 'chalupa' is actually just a tostada with cheese on it, and the Mama's Chicken was very dry. The salad which came had no dressing and the veggies were wilted. I won't be coming back. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I visited the Mi Cocina in downtown Ft. Worth several years ago and absolutely loved it. So, when my family and I were passing through Ft. Worth last night, we dined at the one near Alliance airport. It wasn't great, honestly. Drinks came quickly, and the chips and salsa were good. My margarita wasn't great. It wasn't very strong, and it was way too sweet, especially considering that it was supposed to be a skinny margarita. We ordered our food, and waited a very long time for it. I honestly think either the server forgot to turn in the order, or our food sat out for awhile. My boys both ordered chicken chimichangas, and my husband and I split beef fajitas, sunset style. The description said "topped off with queso, rice, and onion strings." Our food finally comes out, and the boys' food is piping hot and they both said it was delicious. However, our fajitas weren't good. They were lukewarm at best, and when I say that there were too many onion strings on them, I mean it was basically like a pile of onion strings with a touch of fajita meat underneath. And there was very little queso on the fajitas. I would also think that a place like this would make their own tortillas, but they don't. I live in southeast Texas, and pretty much every Tex Mex restaurant there is better than this was. read more

I've been here a few times now and I love this place! I've had a different server each time, all were very nice and professional. I've had the brisket tacos, classic tacos, enchiladas, and a few of the frozen drinks, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed. Oh and the Sunset Queso is the best thing ever! For some reason this isn't on the regular menu so make sure to ask for it! I came here twice in the same week--once by myself and the second time with my coworkers. The service was great during both occasions and the hostess kindly greeted me and my party upon entering the restaurant. The servers place salsa and chips on the table not long after being seated. My coworkers were impressed that they were served with individual bowls of salsa instead of one big bowl for everyone at the table to share. The salsa and chips were good. I also had the following items: - Queso. This tastes like gourmet nacho cheese. It's really good! I'm from So Cal and my two coworkers are from Nor Cal and Arizona. The locals told us to try Queso at any Tex-Mex restaurant so we decided to try this here. It definitely did not disappoint! - Brisket tacos. I had this the first night I arrived in Texas. This was a bit subpar. The brisket was a little dry and tasted a little bland; the salad did not have enough dressing, which I addressed with the server that night so that he was aware. He offered to get me more dressing, but I declined since I was fine eating it. - Tamales with chili sauce. This was really good! It was served with rice and beans. The first time I went I got salsa verde enchiladas (9/10) and the second time I went I got the Tilapia Veracruz (8/10). The food was great and the service was outstanding. We had lunch with friends from out of town that we hadn't seen in years. Our server sensed this and never pushed us for our order while we were yakking away, and once the meal was done he never rushed us with the check. We wound up having a wonderful three hour lunch.
