We always end up going to Mi Cocina with a group or ordering it to go for a quick dinner at home. Take out is great and they include lots of chips and salsa. We love the nachos al carbon, full order, half fajita chicken half fajita beef....yum. When we dine in the sunset enchiladas are amazing, they are covered in a heavenly sauce. I was dining with friends and when they ordered it I had instant entree envy. All the lunch combos are a good value and if you are looking for a healthy options the Rico salad delivers. If you are a drinker, the margaritas are delicious but the mambo taxi is better. read more

This restaurant is very pretty. The decor is welcoming and pleasant, maybe a little nicer than what I expected driving here. We were excited because of all the good reviews that I read. I should have listened to the few bad ones. To start with, they have one type of salsa and it does have a kick. If you don't necessarily like spicy things or you come with kids, you can write the chips and salsa off. I ordered the Deluxe #57 and everyone else ordered fajitas. There was nothing special about my meal and (despite being smothered in different sauces) the fillings were very dry. The fajitas are not your typical fajitas and don't come with any onions or peppers which make them very dry. They're not your typical fajitas when you think of a Tex Mex place. I also thought the portions for the prices they charge were very small compared to other Mexican places. We could have gotten the same "ordinary" food at Taco Cabana for half the cost. read more

It had a side of some salad mixture I didn't care much for and green rice. The rice was a little bland, but it wasn't the star of the show. I had a couple of margaritas as well. We dined here on Monday around 7pm. It was really busy but we were seated quickly. So far so good. However...the food was a total miss. I ordered the brisket tacos that were so greatly recommended by others. Gross. The outside of the corn tortillas were COVERED in grease. Now I would understand the meat and melted cheese having grease and some usual drippage, but not the entire corn tortilla dipped in grease. The meat itself was ok, nothing extraordinary. I know Dallas Tex-Mex isn't the greatest but there is no reason to have that much grease. My bf ordered the chicken enchiladas, also not impressed. Higher prices for a 'mod' atmosphere, but really sub par food. Even the chips and salsa were bleh. After a very long wait for our entrees the food was very disappointing. The drinks people were ordering looked good, so maybe that's the main attraction. Our waitress was noticeably absent most of our time there. I overheard her and another host/manager talking about how she was feeling ill in the bathroom. GO HOME! She was in and out of the bathroom. I went to pick up my to go food from this location as always. waited 30 mins after I was told to be there. I understand these are crazy times so tried to keep a positive attitude. the waiter hands me my check book frantic signed, I tipped and realized she didn't hand my card back with my receipt when I was almost home. went to pick it up today the manager Ray Cruz came out defensive handing it back saying "how could you leave without your card?" I replied because it was crazy and already waited 30 mins i expected it to be in there. At this point he has his face almost inside my car through the window when I told him he needs to back up (especially with corona going around) he proceeds to puff out his chest and yells "I'm right here". I was happy to read that other Yelpers experienced the super-quick food arrival that my better half and I experienced this evening. A meal that shows up at your table in fewer than 5 minutes after order (I honestly wish I was kidding), raises all sorts of suspicions about the freshness of the food that has to be covered up with your choice of side sauces. The prices are what I would expect at a place with fresh, homemade ingredients; instead we got a kitchen with a very high quality microwave, warehouse-bought chips that had no seasoning or flavor, and a waitress who asked if we wanted cheese dip, and scurried off to charge us for the most expensive option, instead of asking what size, kind, etc we would prefer. I hope she thought that was worth it, because the difference in what we would have ordered versus what she gave us was removed from her tip. In the end, I would gladly come back for the chicken dish I had for half the price, served half as fast in a restaurant that spent more time on the quality of their food and service rather than the decor (it's a glorified strip mall, they can afford to skimp on the faux-fancy paintings). My husband and I really like this place. The food is very good, we have tried the faijitas, quesodillas, queso blanco, and enchiladas. Everything we have had tasted great, came out hot and fresh, and the margaritas are so good! The only downside is that they do not have sopaipillas, since they are my favorite. We wanted to try something new so while we have been to a Mi Cocina before we hadn't been to this location before. We got the blanco queso con carne but it came to us without the beef. Our waiter acknowledged it & apologized to bring it to us but it took him several minutes to get back to us. I felt sorry for him since he had several tables going I let it go. I ordered the Cocina Changa with the picadilla beef- it was really good. I normally always get the same 3 things I get like being adventurous today & I'm glad I did. Hubby ordered Ernie's chicken he liked it overall but it wasn't as tender as it should have been. In conclusion, we were glad we came & we'll be back.
