This is the loudest restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. So loud, I had to ask for the food to be packed to go. Service was horribly slow, which made the noise even more excruciating. I've patronized the Mi Cocina in Fort Worth, both downtown and in Arlington Heights, and they are lovely and efficient. The sound level is absolutely miserable. So just to provide complete information about our visit: The food packed to go was abominable. Beef fajita was four slices of unseasoned meat. No onions, no peppers, just slices of plain, tough meat. This location is absolutely beautiful! I love the inside decor and the ambience they've created - both inside and on the patio. However, everything beyond that is pretty middle of the road. The host was very kind and greeted me quickly upon my arrival. I sat at the bar which was pretty busy for a Wednesday evening. Service was fair: the staff had a big undertaking with the entire bar area and there was only 2 of them. Drinks were delicious as ever. I ordered the Cocina platter which was delicious. A bit messy in its plating but the flavor was on point. Loved that it came with a small little queso as well. Overall, this place is a great vibe for drinks but I've had better at more southern spots in the metroplex when it comes to overall experience. read more

Mi Cocina is a staple in my family, there are multiple locations in my area but this one is my favorite. The ambiance and overall setup at this location is stellar. The tall ceilings at this location are super cool and aesthetic. The service was exceptional and very pleasing. I had the Tacos Habana and it was super tasty. I used to get Tacos Mi Tierra and but I switched it up to save a buck or two. It was very similar! read more

Consistently good & a family favorite. We especially love this location in the district 121. It has a fantastic outdoor space for kids and families to use before during and after the meal. Our most recent visit we sat on the patio. Amazing how many young families took advantage of the connected outdoor space to keep kids entertained while the rest of the family were eating. Food was delicious. Ernie's chicken is my favorite. Grilled chicken, smothered in a cheese sauce with rice, pico de gallo, beans and guacamole. Can't go wrong. Quite often, my husband and I will share this platter. Love the chips and salsa. Always good. Service was wonderful. Staff were attentive and efficient. Very nice space design. Two Fridays ago, we waited in the bar for our table. After waiting a while, we checked with the hostess stand and were told that the text announcing our table was ready, didn't go through. Couldn't they have asked around in the bar area? Lord knows the lobby area isn't big enough to wait comfortably. So, we waited longer and finally got a table. Food tasted and felt hastily prepared. No paper towels in the men's room. The location/property is great, but they can't keep up with the traffic. Mi Cocina used to be an iconic Dallas institution, but they have fallen from grace. They went from "great and consistent" to simply "not caring and mediocre". Patrons will start to notice that the white tablecloths can't make up for their overpriced menu items. Beautifully set in District 121 with both indoor and outdoor seating it's a great spot for a dinner date, night out with friends or family. I was sadly disappointed with the service. I mean I lowkey am not a fan of Mexican food or at least the American version of it so tread with caution with this review. Atmosphere and ambiance is spectacular, upscale and great for a special occasion. Love a free chips and salsa and something about theirs is addicting. I split the chicken fajitas with my mom and it was so great served on a bed of caramilzed onions with their grilled chicken and guacamole. In terms of other dishes- their deluxe 57 is pretty mid and monotonous I would not recommend. Their Ernie's chicken is quite good though and so is their rice. Not a fan of their beans which are pretty bland. Also recommend their mama's chicken- the best dish hands down and got their veganos taco which are a good vegetarian option. Service is decent but nothing out of the ordinary. read more

I've eaten at Mi Cocina's around Dallas forever. My favorite ones are Lakeside in Plano and Highland Park Village. The service is always incredible and so is the food. I've never written a review before because it's always 5 star and I guess I'm used to it. But on this particular occasion I felt like they truly outdid themselves! I had a lot of work to do and got there a little before they opened not even thinking about what time it was because I had so much other stuff going on. Patricia greeted me and said no problem...then let me sit wherever I wanted. My waiter was Santiago and every time he came to my table he always had a friendly smile. This one has been 3 for 3, slow service, cold to warm food upon serving and even no chips because they threw them all away while still serving to get ready for their inspection the next day. Another terrible experience from this location. This time I ordered to go for delivery. 1. They gave me the wrong order 2. The salad was not put in a separate container - just thrown in mixed up with the taco meat- which wasn't even what I ordered ( the salad is ALWAYS put in a separate containers from EVERY OTHER MiCocina. Stopped by around 3:45 this Saturday.. Yep, I get its shift change and I'm being very fair about that and this review- The bar didn't have 2 side by side seats so my wife and I sat ourselves at a high top. A bus boy brought chips within a couple mins- That's a plus, however- we waited ~10 mins for our server while we witnessed staff members mingling including the manager on duty. All the while there was what sounded like an emergency broadcast signal and an Aztec death whistle (a high pitched scream) from behind the bar. When our server made it to our table there was no eye contact no accountability when we commented about the long wait time. The entire culture there was off with the staff- glum faces but what's worse is that the manager wasn't dialed in. In fact, we had to flag someone to get our check because our server was no where to be found and then I noticed one of the servers chatting up another woman who was not an employee. Then the manager joined in and spent 5 minutes with them. After we got our check I flagged the manager down and provided kind constructive criticism about the service and the terrible noise from the bar (it was the margarita machine according to the top notch bartender). She said that they're trying to get it fixed but corp isn't helping and asked how the food was. I stated the food wasn't the issue, it was the service and the noise. Again, no accountability. Don't get me wrong- the bartender on duty is great (it was our second visit there and we sat at the bar prior). I cropped the photo so no faces are shown of the unprofessional mingling. Manager on duty on the left, employee in the middle and a 'guest' on the right. On the way out we were almost run over by a server with a full tray and there was no thank you, have a good night, from the host station. Terrible experience. We will not be going back to this location and hope that the restaurant director makes some changes for this locations sake. I feel like we paid to be both dismissed by the staff (other than the bartender) and torture style (Guantanamo Prison) noise. I feel sorry for the bar staff and that marg machine is on it's last legs.. How's that going to affect profit margins?! read more

So glad this new location has opened as it closer to our house and half the time to travel the other closest location. We selected the patio for a late lunch, it was still a little warm outside but the fans and their cooling units worked perfectly. The service was great and the food was awesome. Hats off to the team opening the new location. Our waiter was from the Plano location and knew his stuff. I went old school with the taco plate and we also had the fajita plater. Plenty of food. The chips are the best in town and never had an empty bowl. Looking forward to returning to enjoy the upper patio and watching some live entertainment in the courtyard. I'm really surprised by all of the bad reviews; we've been here twice (once for take out and yesterday we dined in) and have had great experiences both times. Their chicken fajitas are my favorite, and my husband enjoyed his Huevos Rancheros. The margarita is good, though not my favorite, but the iced tea is top notch. We sat on the back patio, had a very attentive and sweet waitress (whose name I can't remember, but she was terrific!) and took home a piece of vanilla Tres Leches cake (which was good, but not Chuy's good. Sad day for Mi Cocina. We sat at the bar and practically had to beg for each glass of water, round of drinks, appetizer, and Main course. It was hardly even busy. I actually had to stand up and scream at my bartender (there were actually 3 of them - doing nothing) in order to pay the check. Literally had to wave both arms and raise my voice like an animal to get paid out. We're fairly easy customers as well...but this was ridiculous. Bartenders have no business being behind the bar. We love the version of the chimmy changa and brisket tacos! The enchiladas are also a favorite! My only food criticism is that the chips taste like Fritos and not my cup of tea. I have been to this location 2x and the service was good both times. I appreciated that the server also offered to give me a fresh drink refill to go on such a hot day! This review is specifically for the service in the upstairs patio area, just off the upstairs bar. We want to love this place SO MUCH, but every time we go, we're disappointed. The upstairs patio is a beautiful covered space on the shady side of the building, with comfortable lounge seating and great views - SO MUCH POTENTIAL as a great place to enjoy an adult beverage & meal in a lovely al fresco environment, away from the chaos and noise of the family-oriented dining spaces on the first floor of the restaurant. We love the Mi Cocina food and bar menus in general, but every time we've visited this location, the service we've received on the upstairs patio is spotty at best - unless you order and pick up your own drink at the bar, you're pretty much going to be out of luck getting a beverage, and good luck on getting any food! We visited on a recent Thursday evening, planning to enjoy drinks and dinner in the lovely weather on the upstairs patio. (And HOPEFUL that our service experience would be different from previous visits!) After more than 20 minutes waiting for someone to even acknowledge us and take our drink order, we finally went into the bar and placed the order ourselves. The bartender gave us some menus and told us that someone would be out soon to take our dinner orders - but after waiting another 20 minutes with no one coming to help us and empty drink glasses, we decided to cut our losses and go somewhere else. Coincidentally, we ran into some neighbors sitting at the other side of the patio who'd arrived before us, and they'd had a similar experience, as well - they said that as soon as they could get someone to bring their bill so they could pay it, they were leaving to go someplace else, too. If Mi Cocina doesn't want to properly staff the patio during nice weather, perhaps they should paste a sign on the patio door that says "Self-Service at the Bar for Patio Diners" - at least this would set fair expectations with patrons. On March 7th, my 5 friends and me headed to mi Cocina to celebrate my birthday. It was not a good experience and none of us will go back. First off we waited for over an hour for a table; we were told it would be 30 ish minutes. Second, once we got the table (in the bar area), the server was exceedingly rude. She threw down plates and napkins and the food with no words and no grace. She was clearly having a bad night. Third, the food was cold. One couple got fajitas and their food was hot. I had the majority of my meal left, in true form, there were no questions asked. Lastly (and I guess it's to be expected), but the restaurant was soo loud; it was unpleasant in there. We dined at Mi Cocina for an early week night dinner. This Tex-Mex restaurant is spacious, and very beautiful. The ceilings are high, with colorful mural paintings. They also have a heated outdoor dining area. Now being so open does have a draw back..... It's LOUD in there. Like LOUD LOUD!!! I struggled to hear our very kind server. Tons of toddlers running amok. So, it was a mix of high-end ambiance, and Chucky's Pizza Party. Was the food good???? My 19.95 salad was lacking in the ingredients. Lots of chopped lettuce though. We did have a very efficient and polite server, but Mi Cocina will be a pass for me in the future. read more
