This review is incomplete. I will come back to complete it when we get to eat there. Went on a Friday night around 7. It was packed and we had heard great things about it. Atmosphere was good, people looked happy, the manager was attentive and very friendly. We sat on the patio outside. Drink runner took our drink orders and delivered chips and salsa. Manager came to tell us the server would be there shortly. 15 min later, no server. Manager came again to tell us thanks for being patient, someone would be there with us shortly. 15 min later, nothing. After a total of 45 minutes, we left. I do think that it was just an oversight. Food is mediocre. Don't ever get the queso fundido. It's literally the worse I have eaten in my entire life. No flavor at all. Flautas were overcooked. Pozole soup is good though, and the waiter was courteous. I will only be coming back here for the pozole soup. read more

Overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. The supposed three tacos I ordered had barely enough meat for two, and just because you throw three tortillas on the plate doesn't change anything. Most disappointing about this place is the refried beans. What should be a staple for any place claiming to be, and I have to use this term loosely since I am in TX and here there is no true Mexican only Tex-Mex, a Mexican restaurant was nothing more than nearly whole pinot beans with almost no taste to them at all. read more

We stopped by during a road trip for a relatively quick Mexican meal, and Mi Cocina definitely exceeded expectations. The decor is nice--modern and upscale with a really lovely patio (despite being a stones throw from I-30). It was an unseasonably cool night for July in Texas, so we dined on the patio. Our server, Dominique, was prompt, very nice, and well informed about the menu. All of the food was absolutely delicious, starting with the chips and salsa. The chips are a bit rustic and hearty with a good corn flavor, not too salty. The salsa is fresh with a nice level of spice. I ordered the Tacos Mi Tierra. They were served with plenty of diced fajita meat combined with diced onions and serranos. With the pico and guac, they were absolutely delicious and had a great fresh kick. My wife enjoyed the La Flaca Salad with Grilled Shrimp. Our server recommended the chili-lime vinaigrette, which was a great choice. The salad was fresh, healthy, and not over-dressed, and the shrimp were very fresh and perfectly cooked. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better meal to break up a long drive. Do yourself a favor and go to On the Border for half the cost and maybe even better quality. This place seriously was a huge let down. The service here is mediocre and only 1 of the waitstaff seemed to enjoy his job, the rest looked like they hate their job. 100% of Tex Mex restaurants I've been to, their nachos come with sour cream, that's just a given. Apparently here, they don't and charge you for sour cream. This place will nickel and dime you to death! The food is very bland and flavorless. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer, no sour cream because they want to nickel and dime you. Our entrees and appetizers came out together so needless to say, the nachos got cold and soggy because we couldn't just let our entrees sit there. We also ordered the queso cup and that crap looked and tasted like canned cheese, horrible. I really don't understand how this place is constantly busy? Love Mi Cocina. Hate this location. We live in the area and have visited this one twice. Both times I was aghast at the lack of service and the low quality of food. Both times we had to wait for an extraordinary amount of time to be welcomed by the server, then to receive our drinks, then to place our order, then to receive our food. Also, neither time was our food as we ordered. I give up. We enjoy the locations in Dallas and Irving regularly. Not sure why this one is sub par, but we will avoid it from here on out. read more

Good food, but they serve it way too fast. This is upper end Tex-Mex ($10-$17) so the quality is there. Atmosphere is posh and lively, service is great. Food is good too, but they will put it on your table within 5 minutes of ordering. If you dont watch out you will be in and out of there in 25 minutes. I am sure that is fine for them, but I hardly feel the value of the total experience of spending $40 for a meal for 2 with drinks and a tip if I do it in 30 minutes. First time trying Mi Cocina was today to celebrate both my 65th Birthday & Easter with family. Coming from SoCal, we were hoping for that familiar version as opposed to TexMex, or maybe have both options. We were incredibly pleased with absolutely everything about this eatery. The ambience, the menu, the cocktails (Jalapeño Agave Margarita....mmmm!) and service were excellent. Anita B was our server and she was amazing! She was informative, helpful, courteous and approachable. She has a bubbly personality, wonderful smile and positive energy! (We will request her station again). I spoke with the GM about how wonderful everything was and how we were grateful to find this gem. It made for a great birthday! read more

Food is tasty her but the curbside pick up needs a ton of work. I was brought out two orders that weren't mine. A guy next to me brought back an order and I sure hope it isn't someone's that will be given to them. With my luck, it was probably my order. My order was supposed to be ready at 5:10. It is now 5:30 and I still don't have my order. There aren't enough parking spots for the pick up because it is always full. I circled the parking lot 10 times so I just parked and walked in. This is the third time we tried order pick up and it is always the same story. Maybe they need to change the amount of time they tell people the food will be ready. When I ordered it said it would be ready in 40 minutes. I totally understand understaffing and people calling in sick last minute if that's the case. But I am sure they are busy but they need some help. Finally got my order at 5:40! read more

Updated review: Well they never remedied the dirty floor issues. Looks like other reviewers even posted photos of the disgusting floors. I don't know why I didn't put two and two together... if the front of the house looks that dirty what does the back of the house look like?!! Food was good but service was terrible. We weren't asked if we wanted another drink or a refill of water. Our check was brought half way through our meal. When we were brought a refill of water it was brought in to go cups when we didn't ask for to go cups. We just left the cups there on the table. Today was my second time at this restaurant and I had to give a review. Both of my experiences have been very nice but today I was more than appreciative of Thurman, who is the general manager, and the staff. My daughter had slid not one but both of my debit cards behind the bench which I thought was secured to the wall and was lost forever. The general manager literally got on his hands and knees to assist me in finding my debit cards and had great success. My experience from walking in the front door and being greeted by the hostess, to leaving, we were treated with respect, kindness and given great attention and care. We enjoy the food, the atmosphere, the cleanliness and ALL staff being incredibly friendly. Please give this establishment a try. The prices are more than fair as well. read more

Lemonade was too sweet, I had to add water. The queso had too much pico in it but my food was really good! The waitress seemed a little in a rush because we were barely eating our food and she came to ask if we were saving room for dessert. I've been a waiter in my life, even 25 plus years ago as an adult. Doing that job gave me an appreciation for servers that most don't understand, it's a hard, hectic, often not great paying job. A buddy of mine was at a restaurant I recommended he and his girlfriend visited today and texted "the people here know you", my response was "I tip well", (often over 30%). Being a server also makes you acutely aware of bad service. Tonight I sat at the bar and had to call out to the bartender to place a drink order, same thing to order food. Both bartenders actively avoided eye contact with everyone sitting there, even some who were obviously regulars. Food was good but I left there with a very bad taste in my mouth due to the awful service. Come on mi Cocina, you can do better than this. read more

If you like cheese, this is the right spot for you. My enchiladas were drowned in a thick cheese sauce, that over powered the taste of anything. So, it was basically cheese and texture. My drink didn't taste good at all, Definitely not Worth the nine dollars that was charged for it ( Mambo Taxi). May be delicious for some but definitely not for me, I will not be returning. We came in today and ashley took good care of us as usual. It was surprisingly busy, but she kept our drinks full and our little ones happy with some colors and paper she keeps for them when we come by so we can have a small break. The service was okay but neither my wife nor I found our food to be especially tasty. I had the chicken mole enchiladas and the chicken was rubbery and tasteless. The cilantro lime rice served with it was lumpy and bland. The mole sauce was pretty good. My wife had a combination platter and wasn't particularly excited by any of the items. We went here for our daughters' birthday, we had an amazing lunch and she got flan for dessert with a candle and a rousing song :-) Love the enchiladas, husband had the grilled chicken, and daughter had tacos. She wanted a Mambo taxi but was going to the doctor's afterward so the girl made 2 sample size just for the taste.
