The staff is not very friendly. We came in to pick up a to go order and the staff was not friendly incredibly rude. The restaurant was very crowded, and they told us we couldn't site at the bar because we're ordering to go. I was perfectly fine with buying a beverage or any other food item, but the bar tender didn't feel I was spending enough money with him at the bar, since I was tipping the to go staff for my order. I get that everybody needs to make money at the restaurant, but the competitiveness shouldn't effect the customers experience. This is without question, one of my favorite restaurants. Period. The service is always great whether I'm sitting at the bar having a Mambo Taxi with Hugo, or eating with my family in the dining room. No matter who is serving us, it's always a great experience. The food is really good too. It's so consistent, no matter what time of day or what day of the week, it's always great! To top it off, my family and I have been going there so long that we've gotten to know the managers as well. Thurman, the GM...well, actually I think he's now technically a Restaurant Director, always comes by and catches up with us. First time here and we had a very enjoyable experience. My husband got a popular dish that I don't recall the name of but is basically bacon wrapped shrimp and rice. Can't go wrong there - it was a win! My daughter and I shared the chicken fajitas and the portion was plenty big and even had some leftovers. I've been going to the Rockwall Mi Cocina ever since it opened about five years ago. I love this place and am totally addicted to the Rico Salad (with beef, of course). Their house margaritas are better than the top shelf at any other restaurant. Their servers are well trained. If you are new to Mi Cocina, here is what you need to know. The food is unadventurous & competent. It has a modern, efficient ambience. Bathrooms are not quite able to keep up with the natural tex-mex effluvia. Chips & salsa are fresh & okay. A little sour. Plenty of fish on the menu, as well as standbyes. The mole is a bit darker than I prefer. Decide for yourself. I felt the enchiladas are a tiny bit dry. They add picadillo beef to your queso free, though, and have diet Dr Pepper. Came back today to disappointment. The service was great but the food was pretty mediocre at best. Ordered the ceviche - super bland, needed lime and smaller diced produce, all inconsistent. Maybe some cilantro? Ordered shrimp and steak fajitas- steak was way overdone and chewy, shrimp was ok but the onions weren't fully chopped through so I got the whole bottom half of an onion with the slices that wouldn't come off, they use green bell pepper which is the worst bell pepper for fajitas, you should use tri colored red/yellow/orange and they were sliced so thick it was unappetizing. And then they topped with huge wedges of potatoes. So off putting and bland! Really unimpressed with the quality for the price. The kids meal is great, good portion for the price. Margaritas are delicious. But at the end of the meal I went to the bathroom and there were two girls who worked there shouting about something they were angry about. I walked out to wash my hands and she was standing in front of the sink. She aggressively grabs her keys off the sink in front of me and gives me the dirtiest look and they continue to cuss and complain they were going home. It made me feel very uneasy. Then they were in the parking lot and without looking walk in front of our car. These girls need an attitude adjustment or a new job? Our waiter was attentive and great. Went here on way back from dropping kid at college. We we have eaten at other Mi Cocina locations and loved it. This particular location just couldn't get my order to me hot. They tried 2 times with beef enchiladas(cold in middle almost like came from the freezer and then heated up) and 1 time with brisket taco which was like warm. Total failure. After the first cold dish, The manager "Fry" came over to apologize and told me the next one will be hot. The waitress bless her heart even touched the food and agreed it was cold. Manager never came back to check on us until I paid bill. Won't be coming back. read more

Let me preface this by first saying that I have loved every experience I've had at this restaurant in Dallas. We went to this one in Rockwall last night and I was EXTREMELY disappointed. It was my boyfriends birthday and he ordered enchiladas. The tortilla tasted so bad that he had to take it off and just eat the chicken inside. I ordered beef and shrimp fajitas... when they came, the shrimp was so overcooked that it tasted like rubber and the beef did as well. It comes with wedged potatoes on top which I thought was super weird. The onions were completely burnt black to the skillet but the green pepper was undercooked. The tortilla chips were awful. I will not be returning. Definitely not worth the 55 dollars we paid for dinner. read more

The Deluxe 57 is my favorite meal here, great bang for the buck, two people can actually share this plate. The white queso if I spelled it correctly is good. My wife and I go there regularly, the service is great when it's slow but not so good when it's busy. Refills are tough to come by when it's busy. My recommendation to them hire one person for busy nights to refill glasses like they do the chips and problem solved. read more
