The Deluxe 57 is my favorite meal here, great bang for the buck, two people can actually share this plate. The white queso if I spelled it correctly is good. My wife and I go there regularly, the service is great when it's slow but not so good when it's busy. Refills are tough to come by when it's busy. My recommendation to them hire one person for busy nights to refill glasses like they do the chips and problem solved. read more

I want to like mi cocina, unfortunately they're terrible. The food is decent, their service is really bad. They are slow, and have gotten my order wrong almost every time I go. The only reason I ever gone back, is they are conveniently located next door to where I work. But I'm done now. My food was raw. And not just the piece I have in the photos, the whole piece. So I could only eat half my lunch. A 15$ meal wasted. When I called to have it refunded the manager wanted to remake my meal not refund it. I explained I did not have time to go back in, that my lunch was almost over, he got frustrated, and asked what I wanted. I wanted a refund. So they refund only that portion of the meal. Now I'll just have to wait and check my bank statements and hope that they are true to their word. Not worth the effort to come here. So many better places to go. Bye mi cocina. read more

Worst Mexican food ever eaten!!! Asked for a refund and was treated with hostility by the manager, Claudia. Unbelievable! After trying politely to explain to her in plain English we both felt sick after eating there she finally agreed to issue a full refund which she did not. There was a sticker from their buyers actually left on a vegetable when served to us. Does that sound like a clean place to you. Doesn't to us. To top off what was an absolute horrible experience this restaurant chain has fraudulently been charging our credit card $6.30 five different times since then. I would not trust them if I were you to do what they say they would do. Too many other better Mexican restaurants in the Rockwall, Rowlett, Dallas area than this one so please take our advice and stay away from this place at all costs. FINALLY Mi Cocina in Rockwall opens, and my family and I were lucky enough to get in on opening night despite the crowd and buzz throughout town! And, I must say, it doesn't disappoint whatsoever. Even for opening night, where I expected some hick-ups here and there, it wasn't nothing but the same consistent, immaculate food and service we've come to expect from the M Crowd guys. My wife and I split the combination beef and chicken Sunset Fajitas (my personal favorite), my kiddos had the quesadillas and everything was awesome. As far as drinks go, my wife had the Perfect "homemade" margarita, and I tried the Spicy Mango-rita, and both were great - the homemade was so nice and refreshing, while the Spicy was, well, spicy... with a good mix of sweet. I loved it! If you live in the area and miss some of the great Dallas restaurants, look no further - you must come eat at Mi Cocina! read more

I vacillate frequently with my opinion on Mi Cocina. Wonderful ambiance, above average service, ambitious Tex-Mex menu and the absolute best chips you'll ever eat. That's a pretty good start for a Mexican restaurant, right? On the other hand, the prices are really expensive - have they always been like this and I just didn't notice? I had a lunch order of beef fajitas on this visit and for around $13 (I think), I received five small pieces of less than average fajita meat. Usually, the meat is freshly cut and you can still see the juices and the pink hue, but this visit, there were no juices or color at all. Hmmm. I realize I could have sent it back, but I hate having to do that when dining with a companion as no one likes to watch the other person eat. Most of the time I'm content when leaving Mi Cocina, but they are currently trending in the wrong direction. read more

The hostess was extremely rude and rolled her eyes at me when I walked in and asked to be sat at the bar. I had salsa, their house margarita, and the fish tacos. Everything tastes decent, not $32 worth. But whatever. 3:40 am I started puking all of it up. I have had food poisoning before and this was definitely that. I only was throwing up the Mexican food that I had eaten there. I called the manager and he said, "well no one else has reported being sick. So idk what you want me to do?" Really?! Date night with the husband last night and we chose Mi Cocina in Rockwall and so did everyone else.It's just opened, so iIt was an hour wait but we met the nicest people and talked and hung out til the buzzer went off. Good scene, lots of 20 somethings. Nice decor, great service. Very friendly staff. The manager came by and made sure we were happy. The Mambo Taxi's were flowing! My husband and I rate a mexican restaurant on 3 things: Hot Sauce, Chicken Enchiladas and the rice. It was all Muy Deliciouso and I've picked Mi Cocina for my bday dinner in June. Right off the bat our whole experience seemed incredibly rushed. We were sat at a table in between the bathroom and the kitchen, despite many other seating being available. I went to the bathroom when we first got there and within the time it took me to get in and get out my fiancé had already been asked by 3 different people if she wanted an appetizer. The waitress continued to approach us from behind. It was really awkward and actually made my fiancé jump at one point in time. We took awhile to look over the menu. The manager went out of his way to ask if we needed help finding something on the menu. Um, we know how to read a menu. So, no. This was after the waitress had already been over to ask if we were ready to order twice. It would've been nice to be seen as customers rather than a table that needed to be flipped before the church crowd came in. On top of all of that, I ordered the "sunset enchiladas" which is what I come to Mi Cocina for. I received with much disappointment regular beef enchiladas that can be gotten from any, much cheaper Mexican restaurant. I didn't send it back because I was hungry and didn't want to deal with that confrontation at the time. However, you would think a good server would notice when their customer has received the wrong food. It would've been understandable if it didn't clearly state on the receipt "sunset enchiladas." At first, I thought it might have just been a miscommunication on my part. It wasn't. Very much disappointed. You would be better off making the trip to Plano and dining at the Mi Cocina there. Mi Cocina used to be one of our favorite places to eat but the past 2 times we have been there we have walked out. We were seated but we did not get service after a long wait. Other patrons that came in after us were served. The first time was in the bar area so we decided this last time to sit on the patio and sure enough we were ignored. Hate to say we usually give a place a second chance but the second chance did not prove successful. We will now find another place to patronize. read more

This was our families go to for special events and even have attended several group outing here and so that is why the state of the restaurant now is more than disappointing. The service is now always slow, even when they aren't busy. Drinks stay empty. The food comes out timely enough but is sometimes cold. The prices keep going up and the look of the interior keeps going down. The white chairs are filthy and sunken in the seat. The tables are dirty as well as the floors. The air vents on the ceiling are always leaking and dripping. Sadly, we won't be going back unless something changes. Sad. read more

Chain restaurants are like those kids down the street, you remember, the ones that hope desparately you will one day agree to play with them (wait, I was one of those kids down the street). Mi Cocina - Rockwall is A-OK. Interior decor, seating, and salsa are fabulous. My enchiladas - one spinnach, one cheese, one chicken were good - but just a tad dry, alright they were really dry, but improved considerably after dumping a ton of that awesome salsa on them.. It's a perfect place to have a meal, sit back with good friends and family, and talk with an appreciative tone about the little people that have put you where you are. Just from the name, I wasn't sure what to expect; and where I'm from, Tex-Mex is synonymous with bad pseudo-Mexican food slathered in sour cream and orange cheese (sorry, Texans). So anyway, if you go here -- and you should if you like Mexican food -- order the chicken mole. Eat it slowly. Resist the urge to lick your plate. Die happy. For the price I thought it was a very good deal -- it looked like the kind of restaurant you see in Bon Appetit where the prices are absurd and you have to get a reservation 6 months in advance. However, the prices are well within reach for most people for a special occasion, and we were seated right away. (I'd recommend dressing up a bit -- it isn't required, but I felt underdressed in my Henley t-shirt and mom jeans.) The queso blanco with the piccadillo beef was excellent. I forget what my friend ordered (some combo dish with a taco, an enchilada and something else), but he was very satisfied with it. He also appreciated the lack of screaming small fry (we had been to another place a few days earlier where parents a few booths away were ENCOURAGING their toddlers to shriek). I had the asada pollo con mole, and it was to die for. Seriously wanted to order a gallon of the mole sauce to go, or ask for the recipe or something like that. Some places elseNet mark it down for not being bitter enough, but I think it was just right -- neither sweet nor bittter, but I could tell there was chocolate in it. I wasn't sure what to make of the green rice, and some of it was undercooked, but mixed with the refried beans it was fine. The service didn't feel rushed, but there were only one or two other groups of customers when we went (about 4:30 p.m.) and I did feel hovered over a little. Nothing serious. read more

Mi Cocina, definitely has raised the Tex-Mex bar in town. Not that it was *that* high to begin with. It's a nicely elevated version, while still being tasty and not pretentious. They make good guac, good salsa, fresh chips. The entree's are good, and everyone in the family enjoys it. Only gripe is the single size 'rita. I'd like to just order one mondo rita (ala Arboledas holycraparita). Barring that, solid food, not overly expensive and generally really good service. read more

Never been a fan of trying to upscale Mexican food. I grew up eating it. So the ideas that I come across never really impress me. Just stick to the basics and don't over charge for beans and rice. I only dine here if my wife suggests it or I get an invite to come which is what happened. It was a big group so I had time to eye ball the menu and settled on BBQ brisket enchiladas. It sounded good but despite using poblano peppers it was sweet like BBQ. Yuck. Plus the tortilla's were hard. The flavors don't say Mexican food to me. Walked over to the bar to get a draft beer... Not! They don't do draft let alone local beer only national beers. As you can tell I don't like it here. Sorry M.C but you've never earned my business. I will say in retrospect that they were generous with their guacamole. Not my kind of Mexican fare. read more

I've seen Mi Cocina's all over the Dallas area so my daughter and I was meeting my wife for lunch and decided "Let's give it a try". The facilities and atmosphere were nice and reminded me of Gloria's. The service is better the average and their chips and salsa are also a little better than average. The food however was less than average. We all ordered the #9, Enchiladas with beans and rice which comes in beef, chicken, spinach or a combination of any two. We also ordered the Tortilla soup. The Enchiladas were not too good. Large chunks of chicken and a sauce that was a little bland. The soup was OK at best! For the money I would avoid returning to this chain. They should put a little more effort to have the food match the service and atmosphere. Julie was our server and she was very good! read more

First Impression walking in the doors are filthy finger prints and scum all over the glass. Half the waiters just hanging around in a mob shooting the shit. We both ordered chicken fajitas, we figured well we cannot really go wrong with that. They arrived presentation was sad lol a thin chicken breast with some grilled onions on the bottom and two steak fries on top lol. The chicken was soooooo dry u had to take a drink to swallow. They charge about 20 dollars per plate for that tiny meal. We are really disappointed. We will not be back. I do want to say our waiter was very nice. My husband and I finally tried Mi Cocina and were not impressed at all. This is an overpriced place with bland food. To say I rather eat at On The Border than here pretty much sums it up. I was expecting much more from this place with the prices but was left with disappointment. First of all, the menu was one page and hardly had any choices. Most of the choices were tacos and enchiladas. Most of the enchiladas options stated that it only came with two. Let's be clear, no one wants to pay about $13 dollars for street tacos. Why would I pay so much for "street" tacos when I could go to a real taco place and pay less for AUTHENTIC tacos. With limited options, my husband ordered queso blanco as an appetizer and enchiladas verdes. The cheese tasted like it came from a can. Nothing special about it other than the 2-3 pieces of the small tomatoes they cut up and put in their for decor or taste? Basically, pass on the cheese. Torchy's cheese is way better! The two enchiladas came wrapped in a hard tortilla and had nothing special about them. The salsa was okay, but my Mexican husband wasn't impressed at all. I ordered Pollo moderno. It came with "fresh" veggies. Yall don't be fooled these fresh veggies are nothing but tons of onion and cabbage and some zucchini. The chicken had no taste and honestly it was something I could cook at home. The service was nice. They have good service, its just the food that is overpriced and tasteless. Literally nothing special about it. The only good thing about this place was the mango margarita, so shoutout to the person making the drinks! They're the real MVP and probably the one keeping this place open! Even with the good drinks, we won't be back. read more
