My family and I went here for my son's birthday on 5/13/2024. The food and drinks were great and the overall feel of the patio area is nice (although road noise is a little loud). What was lacking was the overall attitude of the employees we interacted with: from the hostess who seemed to be bothered we had shown up, to the server who offered only very mechanical engagement, non-friendly service, to the delay that occurred after being seated before anyone came to our table (about 5 minutes). I am glad that my wife and I ignored some of the bad reviews and went to have birthday lunch for her at Mi Dia From Scratch. The food was good and fairly priced. The table side guacamole was great and the server who prepared it was nothing but nice. Yes we sat out side on the patio and it was a bit warm, but we live in Texas and it's the middle of August so we knew what to expect. Our server was attentive and sported a smile the entire time. Not once did we run out of drinks or have to ask for something. It was like he knew exactly what we needed to enjoy our lunch and had it for us before we knew we needed it. If you are like me and may be a little turned off by some of the negative reviews, remember, everyone's taste are different, and if it's already hot outside and you go sit on the patio to eat hot food, you're going to be a little uncomfortable, so maybe sit in side instead. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday and as soon as we checked in the hostess gave me an attitude when I told her to wait a few minutes because my husband was parking. After we sat, I had requested for a high chair on my reservation and she gave me a booster seat when I asked for a high chair she again gave me an attitude and told me they don't carry those (not family friendly!!!!) Our server's name was Danielle (I believe?) she was awful, she forgot requested items like spoons, plates, straws and never checked with us about our food until the end. She came and gave us the check without even asking if we wanted dessert! We ordered one and she never acknowledge my husband's birthday. When she brought the check I asked if they do anything for birthdays and she said they give dessert and asked if it was anyone's birthday! Well too late, we had already ordered our dessert and had signed the check by then, she never interacted with us so how is she going to know, even though I wrote it on my reservation notes. The whole experience was awful and I'm already not recommending this place to anyone in our circle. There are better places around with better food and much better service!!!! read more

Absolutely delicious! We tried it for the first time today. We each tried something different and I tried the upsell margarita. I got the lunch Salmon, we tried fajitas and stacked enchiladas. It was all delicious and cooked well. The chips and salsa were fabulous. Our waitress, Tanya, was kind, attentive and helpful. We will ask for her each time we come. I went out with a bud to see how Mia Dia was doing since it's been a couple years since I've last been. The ambiance and food were more or less the same as any other Tex mex restaurant in the area. They charge a fair upcharge for the ambiance and what they would call "great customer service". We sat for around 35 minutes with chips and waters after placing our appetizer order. Our beers came out AFTER the meal (which already took almost an hour to come out). Yanni, our waiter, was upset that we didn't tip him despite his ridiculously poor service. He spent half the time talking to his coworkers, didn't even serve us our food, then decided to be upset. What a joke. I've been to this location many times - as well as the one in Grapevine. Food quality is really good. The combination plates are very large portions. Carne asada is great. The cheese enchiladas are some of the best around. Tequila assortment is nuts. Mexican beer selection is strong. Best drink I believe is their Mango Margarita. Wherever they are getting their mangos - or wherever their flavoring is coming from is excellent. Waitstaff and barstaff vary now - they used to all be nice and accommodating. Most are nice. They should have built-in a much bigger bar and should not have it in the center of the server and customer traffic flow area. Be wary of outside patio in the heat of the summer. The flies will attack and they are so big they may be abble to carry off small children. Stay inside June - September. read more

We couldn't wait to try this place out once it opened. The fact it often has a 30 minute plus wait at times should provide a sign about how good the place is. My husband is the ultimate Tex-Mex lover and this place wins first place in our opinion. The waitstaff is always amazing and ready to make our experience amazing. We love the chips and queso as a shared appetizer. Hubby's favorite dish is the chili rellenos and I'm a sucker for a good fajita chicken chimichanga. Usually the bartenders are spot on but today was not that great. We have been coming here since Mi Dia first opened. We are regulars. The female bartender was terrible. Waited awhile and had to grab her attention to order a meal and drinks. Had to get her attention every time we wanted another drink. We received our food and I had to get up and go around the bar to ask her for silverware. Again I had to get her attention to get our check. No, they were not busy. Disappointing. We took our visiting niece to Mi Dia last night...food, service excellent however our recommendation is this: lower the volume with the music. Dinner is time to eat, enjoy conversation and relax. When music is loud your guest talk louder and before one knows it the noise is loud. I could not hear what my niece and wife were saying. Again...great food, great service!!! The idea is fresh made from scratch Mexican food. The building from the outside looks amazing. The architecture was such we couldn't wait until they opened for business. We went to dine here for lunch on a weekday about 2-3 weeks afternoon they opened. I have to say I was a little disappointed. Nice place - nice atmosphere. Server came to the table quickly and asked for drink orders and I ordered a soft drink, my husband lemonade. They brought out some glasses with ice and canned soda. The soda can was not even cold so with the ice melting as I poured my drink it watered the soda down and I didn't even drink it. Bad choice to not have fountain drinks or at least ice cold in a can.... no... you need soda on tap at a nice restaurant. We started munching on chips and salsa. The salsa was so pretty... red with this green spash not mixed in. The green is significantly hotter and in my opinion, the table salsa was just too spicey and I like a nice kick. My husband ordered a taco salad and the presentation was beautiful and he was very pleased with everything. He said he would come back to order the taco salad again. I got my old faithful chicken enchiladas with verde sauce. It was bland. Really not much flavor and I would not order this dish again... The prices were very steep for Mexican food and ii enjoy an ice cold coke with Mexican food and the warm can kind of ruined it for me. I will not be returning to this particular Mi Dia. Welp, this was our 'go to' Mexican restaurant, but tonight was a complete fail. Seated on the patio and was immediately greeted with an infestation of flies. Slow service followed. Guacamole is my life... Which means it is crucial for any Mexican restaurant to have amazing guacamole to get five stars... Theirs was not and that is the only reason they received four stars instead of five. Everything else was great. My daughter ordered steak fajita nachos, and everyone had to try them... They tasted as good as they looked. The kids meals were a good size... And my kids know how to eat. The salsa was a bit on the spicy side for those of us with weak tongues, But those who like the spicy stuff said it was good... Not fantastic, just good. I ordered the chimichanga with chicken, and it was great. One of the better chimichangas I've had. Everyone at the table was very satisfied with their meals, even though it is a bit on the pricey side for Mexican. You aren't getting gourmet food, but you are paying a bit steeper prices for Mexican food (fajitas are $18-$22; chimichanga was $15); however, the restaurant does have a nice/higher-class dining room and a nice ambience, so if that's what you're going for, you won't be disappointed. As for the guacamole, it had bacon in it... And I know that everyone in the world seems to love bacon, except for those who only eat kosher ... and me. I don't do pork. It was a huge disappointment to get one of my favorite things at a Mexican restaurant ... with pork in it. I was disappointed and tried to pick around it but the flavor was still there, so some people may absolutely love it but even the bacon lovers at my table did not like the guacamole. It was bland, needed salt and garlic. And we ordered table side. Maybe I should've told them how to make it. My favorite, go-to entree is the guisada - but another favorite is the pick three. The enchiladas are incredibly good and a great option.
