Hole in the wall description is no joke. Looks pretty sketchy from the outside and is not very well marked. However, once entering, the restaurant was clean and several other couple and families were enjoying dinner. Food was good and price was pretty reasonable. I ordered the carnitas taco and a fish taco (which was way too heavily fried for my taste- but that's just a personal preference). Husband ordered the carnitas dinner. We've had better carnitas as far as flavor, but it was good quality meat, so can't really complain. All in all, would recommend the place, but don't know that we'll go back. read more

Surprisingly great Mexican food for New England! Just moved to the Cape from Texas, and it's the best I've had so far. Great food! Nice selection of menu items and each one we ordered was fantastic. Started off with the beef nachos; the beef was flavored well, tender and plenty of it. Next we had the Mi Pueblo plate (a taco, tamale and chile relleno with rice and beans) which was very good and a good size too. Also had the Chile Rellenos stuffed with fresh cheese and was very tasty. Their salsa is fantastic too. A good meal and value. Very small seating area but we went between lunch and dinner around 3:30 and were seated right away. I hope this place stays around for a long time, it's that good!! Very friendly service too! I ordered a chicken taco and chorizo taco. Both were way over cooked and under seasoned. My wife's steak taco was the same and the queso fondito was gritty and unseasoned. The guacamole was fresh and tasty and plenty creamy but the salsa was brown and gelatinous. My in-laws liked their fish tacos so thinking I should have gone that route, but didn't seem like enough to go back. I don't usually mention service but honestly the waitress was pretty rude. The food here is very good. I had the short ribs with mole special and tacos al pastor. The mole was decent, far better than most places and had a good strong kick to it. By far the best tacos al pastor I've ever had. My only gripe is non-food related and that is that the seats are remarkably uncomfortable. The BEST Mexican food you will ever eat here in the U.S.! Their mole poblano chicken enchiladas are my go to, but I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's all been out of this world. Finally got to try this gem! I'm from Tucson and this brought me right back home. Everything about the place, it's more of a take out joint but we decided to sit down and eat in one of the old booths and it felt really authentic, even down to the peach paint on the walls. That's just the atmosphere! We ordered guacamole and it was freaking outstanding. That my friends is what guac tastes like. I had the enchiladas suizas and they were so yummy. My friend had the chile relleno just spot on. Besides I don't think there's any where else on cape with chile relleno! I can't wait to try the whole menu. Even the tacos I look forward to. Beware though if you don't like cilantro I suggest you don't eat authentic Mexican because it's a staple. I'll be bringing tacos to the beach very soon! read more

The tomales are excellent and hard to find real ones on cape cod. Chile Rellenos are superb. The pork dishes will knock your socks off! It's very hard to find because it's down a poorly marked alley. A hidden gem. Authentic Mexican in a small, clean well-lit space that will get no points for decoration, but it is by no means sketchy. A little more expensive than I am used to, probably unavoidable given the location and rents in this area. Great carnitas burrito. Peas and carrots in the rice is a nice touch. Ditto the jalapeno slices. Pan toasting the burrito after assembly is a nice touch. Comes with little containers of guacamole, sour cream, and a mild green chili sauce. My family and I were visiting the Cape mid-week in September and wanted to get dinner in Hyannis. We were taking longer than expected with our activities and needed to get a quick dinner so we could get our toddler to bed. We also are a family with lots of allergies/sensitivities- gluten, dairy, and egg. We enjoy Mexican as we can generally get what we avoid what each of us needs to avoid. We found Mi Pueblo on Yelp and decided to check it out. We parked right in front of the address, but didn't see the restaurant. We looked around briefly and couldn't figure out where it was. I decided to call to see if maybe they closed. I was glad I did, because the staff explained that the restaurant is in the back of building down the alley. A little sketchy with a toddler, but it was perfect for what we needed. The restaurant is small, a little dive-like, but the food was very good and got to our table fast. Our son could be himself without us worrying about him ruining someone else's dinner experience. And the prices were right! read more

Oh you prefer I never come back there?! Oh DON'T WORRY I WON'T. What an unprofessional establishment. Went there for lunch today. The worst service I have EVER had. And the service always sucks there, but this time it was so bad I didn't leave a tip. That's like the second time I've ever not left a tip in my life because I worked in the service industry for years and I know how it is. We waited SO long to even get chips and salsa, and I had to ask for it! And upon asking I get an annoyed look like I'm inconveniencing her. Didn't even ask us if we wanted a drink too. I'm the customer! Not one smile either after I was very polite the entire time despite the God awful service. Real nice way to treat LOCAL REGULARS. And do not get anything made with chicken. I had to spit my bites out of my taco 3 times because there was so much gristle. I was nauseous for hours. And then you have the nerve to charge me for a side of salsa??? This place is the balls.. amazing.. very authentic!! My boyfriend and I just got back from Mexico, and this place literally is off the boat Mexican. It's delicious. We have had the guacamole which is perfect from a lot of places as well but the chips were definitely home made and just the way I like! I wish this place was more of a sit down restaurant vs. Take out but seriously doesn't bother me too much cause I'd go here over Sam Diego's or Beech Tree any day!! The tamales, PERFECT. PERFECT. PERFECT. Tastes amazing, best tamales I've ever had in my life. Pork is so delicious and full of flavor. The carnitas, I don't know where to begin or how to work how amazing it is. The carnitas burrito and the tacos best I've ever had ever. Chili relenos (spelling??) is so decadent and flavorfull. My parents aren't into Mexican food but they are obsessed with it here. We each will get either the Mi Pueblo plate or the carnitas burrito. And the staff are so sweet and kind, they gave my boyfriend and I an extra tamale one time to bring home- that's a good business person, people! Love this place I go once a week... Small place with sparse decor. Totally authentic and delicious. I reccomend the mole. I used to live in Mexico and this reminds me of that experience. They make homemade horchata and other traditional drinks. I'll be back for the tortas, tamales, etc. I loved it. read more

My only complaint is that the place deserves more prominence. Then again, maybe better that it be a hidden gem. Tucked in the rear of a building (there are actually entrances on two sides. We entered the one near the rest rooms along with a door that said "employees only. We opted for the only other door, hoping we would not be unpleasantly surprised on the other side!), this place is small (fewer than 10 tables), but charming. It reeks authentic. And the food is awesome! The salsa served with the light, warm chips is reason enough to go. I asked for more, and searched the menu longingly for an indication that I could buy a bottle to take home. Unlike any I've ever had with the obligatory chips. Less like a tomato-based salsa, and more like chili verde, with hints of cilantro and lime, and a decent, but not overwhelming kick. The Nachos with Chicken were the best so far on the Cape. Again, no salsa, but with delicious chicken with excellent char, cheese, bits of jalapeno, and refried beans EXCELLENT! read more
