It's all good food service parking sucks and too expensive. But the restaurant-EXCELLENT

This was only my second time at Miceli's, and while the atmosphere is still as charming as I remembered--perfect for families, date nights, or celebrations--our recent visit left us with mixed feelings. The restaurant offers a great variety of dishes, and the food itself was delicious. The pizza was really good, and the portion sizes are generous. My daughter and I were able to split a plate, and everything we ordered had great flavor. The prices are on the higher side, and gratuity is automatically included for parties over six (we had seven--me, my sister, and our five kids). While the vibe of the restaurant is still very much "vibing," the service could use some improvement. Our server forgot simple things like water refills, got our order wrong, and unfortunately came off as inattentive and rude. That alone would have been disappointing, but another incident made it worse: one of the waiters made an inappropriate comment toward my son, who has some personal challenges. Instead of being kind or understanding, he made a sarcastic remark that was both uncalled for and hurtful. I responded, we paid our bill, and we left. Miceli's has a lot of potential, and I truly wish our experience had matched the food and ambiance. I hope management sees this as an opportunity to refresh their customer service approach and train their staff to be more compassionate and respectful to all guests. read more

I gave this place a lower score than it deserves because of the inconsistencies Ive seen in the long time Ive been going here. The food is typically good, but sometimes great. Management changes anf Covid changed this place from what it once was. The fact is though you should definately come here for the Old Hollywood vibe this place is. It is rustic, it is italian, and it is great for a date. This place used to have every waiter double as a singer back when I knew management a long time ago. The piano is still there though, I was there at lunch last time and the Fettacini Ala Van Gol is my go to. Definately try this place if your up around the area. read more

I discovered this place while exiting US 101 at the Lankershim S/B ramp. Their Cahuenga location is the first thing you see. That was several years ago. I ended up trying their original on Las Palmas, only three blocks from Metro first. I have been to both locations numerous times, but more frequently to the original. Good red sauce Italian places are getting harder to find. This place, in particular, is well worth the trek from Ventura! My favorite is their lasagna. Their pizza is also excellent. Ricardo remembered me today from the last time I was there. I asked for my lasagna to come on a hot plate, it was nice cheesy goodness! I am always pleased when I dine here. read more

Excellent food and service for a tourist trap! We ate there in the 80's when we lived in LA, it's still great!

The food was amazing and the piano guy, Brian made our date. We were here at 5:15 p.m. and they never brought out our food. This is a romantic place to spend yet the service was under par. Considering they tried to give us free dinner in 95 degree heat. This was a memorable night but not because of the manager not wanting to come out after 2 hours of waiting for food. They did not offer to composite for a future gift card. Anyways, come with a wonderful date and you won't regret it if you bring someone you care about. read more

Sad to say the Fat Lady has sung at Miceli's Hollywood since the show has ended and the restaurant needs to end (or revamp, refresh and renew into the fun restaurant it should be)? A group of us went on a late Sunday afternoon in June (Gay Pride Sunday 2025 in West Hollywood). The restaurant was not crowded. While I waited at the bar for the rest of my friends to arrive, I ordered a basic cocktail, an Old Fashioned on the rocks. No special alcohol requested. I am all in favor of on-the-job training but the bartender repeatedly looked at the recipe - in fact it took longer for her to make my cocktail than for me to enjoy it. As a group we wanted to get a few dishes that we all could share - a pizza, salad, and pasta. The pizza wasn't bad. Not as good as Caioti Pizza Cafe on Tujunga , but tasty. (One of our group rated the pizza 'okay'. The salad was a version of an old school red sauce Italian restaurant salad. I liked it. Not so much for my dining companions. We ordered the baked mostaccioli and added a side of meatballs and a side of Italian sausage to it. (Definitely do this!!). Our baked pasta arrived and , oh no, why were we given baked rigatoni? The meatballs and sausage were cooked within the baked pasta dish. (We thought they would have been served separately, but baked with the pasta was the right call.) Even though we were given the wrong pasta, I ate it all up. Reminded me of my Grandmother's baked ziti. (My Grandmother was NOT know for her cooking skills, but her flavors are what I grew up on.) . Other members of our party were not thrilled with the pasta, meatballs or sausage. Miceli's is known for singing wait staff. Our waiter took a quick break from covering his tables and sang a song. I'm tone deaf, but he sounded good. (For a restaurant known for its 'singing waiters' not much singing was going on.) Time to finish the meal with something sweet. How difficult is it to ask your waiter how big the dessert portions were? We planned on sharing a few desserts among the five of us. How many cannoli to an order? What size are they? Not hard questions but our waiter didn't understand our plan to share our dessert choices among ourselves, given enough forks to go around. The best dessert was the warm Apple Pie with Vanilla ice cream. The pie was made off-site by an outside vendor. Order the Apple Pie. It was great. I have eaten my share of cannoli over the years. Some were great, some so-so, but hey, how bad can a cannolo be? THIS CANNOLO WAS DISGUSTING. I have never had a lemon-flavored whipped cream-like filling in a cannolo. The lemon flavor was strong, artificial tasting and totally wrong. The filling base was more of a Bavarian cream rather than a whipped ricotta confection. The shell was adequate. Days later I still tasted the article lemon flavoring in my mouth. Miceli's Hollywood needs to go back to their old-time songbook and do better. Much, much better. read more

I love the decor, very Italian, great atmosphere, they have Chianti bottles hanging from the ceiling and a piano player. Often the waiters will take a break to sing with a piano! First time here with friends who remember this being a great restaurant. Well not any More. The food was mediocre at best. The friend whose birthday we were celebrating ordered veal which was breaded in some unidentifiable batter and completely burned. Another friend ordered a sidecar, her usual, which was undrinkable, then another drink Italian 75 or something, also undrinkable. The manager walked by and said "everyone loves our sidecar." The service was very slow. I had to ask for ice for my water 4 times and finally went to the bar myself to get it. We brought a birthday cake and before they served it, which took forever, the manager very rudely (again) came over and said "You do realize there's a $3 per person charge to serve the cake." We could have served and eaten it ourselves between the time it took them to "warn" us about the service fee and finally serve the cake. The piece de la resistance was when we asked about the parking validation. The manager said "It's 2 hours and some of you have been here for at least 3." Since when is lingering in a restaurant something you reprimand a customer for? Believe me, we were ready to go and never would have stayed that long had the service not taken forever. I would never go back. And I think they must scrub their Google reviews because they are mostly positive. But here and Trip Advisor have the truth. Stay away from this place unless you like mediocre overpriced food, nasty tasting drinks, sloth-like service and rude AF managers. I wanted to love this place but the food was really underwhelming. We went during lunch hours on a Sunday, service wasn't great and the food...none of us enjoyed what we ordered except for the chicken parm. I was excited there was a vegetarian lasagna (Spinach) but the sauce was so acidic it was hard to eat, the linguini with clams was lacking any sort of sauce and the spaghetti with meat sauce was basic. I think I'd go back for a drink at night but that's it. Even the dessert wasn't anythign to write home about. I was excited by seeing the pictures of the tiramisu but it was lacking in flavor. Last night my husband and I looked for an Italian restaurant near our hotel and found this gem. We loved the beautiful decor which was very cozy and inviting! Our server was so attentive and could even sing. The food was not that great! The antipasto salad lacked many of the ingredients listed in their own menu such as artichoke hearts, roasted pepper, eggplant or meats except for couple of pieces of very thin salami. The house aunty lasagna lacked flavor and in need of some Italian spices at the very least. The drinks were good! The red wine was delicious. We still enjoyed our time there but just wished the food was better. read more

Saw Miceli's in an instagram post by LAinaMinute. I have walked by many times and never stopped in. This past trip I decided I needed to check it out! I went in off hours, late lunch early dinner.... it was very quiet only a few customers.... i was greated as I walked in and showed to a nice booth. the ambience is def old italian restaurant... ordered the lasagna and was very happy i did... i need to go back and check it out during their busy times and maybe catch some live music too! read more

When i was in high school and into college this was the place i went with friends for my birthday.Now 33 years later i was celebrating my 60th birthday and took my two adult daughters to Micelis to experience old school Hollywood italian food. It was a Saturday night at 8pm when we arrived for our reservation. Right off the bat we were warmly greeted. The restaurant was very busy which was a good sign. The rolls were just as i remember them. We chose the Caesar salad to share as our first dish. We all agreed it was a very good salad. Chopped, crisp and the dressing was garlicky and perfectly dressed. I had the Beef Lasagna which was perfect. My daughters had Spaghetti Siciliano and Chicken Marsala. Again the food was on point. For dessert we chose a Tiramisu. It was light an refreshing after a heavy pasta meal. My kids and I enjoyed it all very much. The service was great too. read more

How have I not written a review for Miceli's yet? This is one of my favorite places in Hollywood to grab some lunch. It's a neat little old school Italian restaurant. They have traditional Italian food, and pizza. Another thing that's unique about michelli's is that their servers and some of their staff will occasionally sing in the dining room. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and it's a nice little place to stop and check out and have a bite to eat. The pizza is pretty good, it's not the best pizza in the world, but it's certainly not bad. Like I said, very good pizza. They also have other entree Italian food dishes. I've had the manicotti on several occasions it's very good. I've never had anyone complain about the quality of the food that they got here. The tiramisu is also at especially good treat. The only downside to this location is that it's difficult to find parking, without having to pay a lot. But, if you're already in the area and are looking for a nice place with some good atmosphere to have a pizza, I can't recommend this place enough. read more

This place has been here since the 40's and it's supposed to be the first Italian restaurant and pizzeria in Hollywood/Los Angeles. I have always wanted to try it out! I honestly came here not expecting much, it was more for the experience but I was completely shocked at actually how bad this was. The pizza was probably the worst pizza I've ever had and I'm not exaggerating. I think I have made better pizza with store bought dough. The meat tasted old, veggies were crunchy and raw, the dough was borderline undercooked. It was so horrible, I'd rather eat little Cesar's pizza. We also got chicken Milanese which didn't taste like anything and vodka pasta which also tasted like a little heavy cream was splashed into existing marinara. It was not good, but the pasta was al dente I'll give them that. So many oddities during our visit. We ordered a bottle of wine and was shocked when the cork was popped off and it was just left on the table. No taste, no pour, nothing. Old fashioned was poured into a wine glass. Never seen that before. The bathrooms are gross and had no hand soap. Server decided to add 20% tip himself and adjusted the bill with writing in pen, this was so shocking and I have never seen this before. I wanted to say something but I was with a large group and didn't have the energy or desire to make an uncomfortable scene. Funny thing is we would've left 20%...but this just didn't sit right with me. We were under the impression there would be singing carolers but that was not the case, no big deal at least there was a piano player... I think this place used to have a vibe at some point but now it's just an old run down restaurant with overpriced bland food and the weirdest people if I'm being honest. Felt like we were in a twilight zone. I would not return or send my worst enemy to dine here. read more

If you like super sugary Italian food, this is your spot. We started with bruschetta. The topping wasn't bad -- it was extremely garlicky which I'm completely fine with, but I could see how the garlic-averse among us would've been put off. It was not on actual bread, more like those bread slice-shaped croutons things you'd buy in a box in the cracker aisle. Also started with a tossed green salad with the house Italian dressing which was orange, not sure from what. The dressing was very sweet but edible. The salad was oddly covered in garbanzo beans which, again, is fine with me as I love them -- just weird. My son got the side Caesar which was also covered in garbanzo beans and no croutons, even weirder. I know they weren't out of croutons because that's what our bruschetta was on. I got the spaghetti and meat sauce which had no trace of meat in it whatsoever. It tasted very much like that awful Prego stuff in the jar that my mom would serve us in the 80's. Extremely saccharine! The Parmesan cheese in the shaker on the table was the green can variety. We grate our own Parmigianno Reggiano (sp?) at home, so to go out to a restaurant and get the stuff from the green can is a real disappointment. One of my sons got a plain cheese pizza. He said it reminded him of 7-11 pizza, only worse. My husband tried it and he thought it was similar to school cafeteria pizza. My other son got the fettuccine with pesto and only ate a few bites because it was way too sweet. Pesto is not supposed to be sweet. The ambiance was kitschy and nostalgic and the live singer, while shrill, had a higher quality voice than the food. Service was fine. Prices acceptable. My husband apologized for this not being the memorable meal we had hoped for on our trip to LA and I said, "are you crazy? We'll remember this meal forever!" I began this review thinking I'd be charitable and round up my 2.5 stars to 3, but the more I think about it, I'm gonna do something really counterintuitive and absurd and give them 5 stars! read more

The original Miceli's s is an old world Italian Resturant in Hollywood just south of Hollywood Boulevard on Las Palmas. They have a parking lot that they share which is about two doors down from the restaurant on the same side of the street. I paid 15 dollars and received 11 back after validation. They have pizza and eggplant and lasagna ( one of the best dishes ) and if you come after 6 your entertainment may also be your waitstaff. You will enjoy singing and piano music. The restaurant is on multiple levels and was built long before ADA so you may need to walk upstairs to use the restroom. When you walk I. You will notice years of hanging wine bottles and you will feel you have privacy at your own table. This is about .5 miles from the Pantages Theater so it's a great spot before the show. Portions are large so bring along a cooler for putting your leftovers in the car. Also if you like garlic make sure to share a Caesar salad with the table. I can not speak to dessert because I never have room. If you have out of town guess it a great spot to eat and then walk the stars. read more

Miceli is Hollywood's oldest Italian ristorante as told by our friendly, soft spoken, understated yet helpful waiter who was great.  Loved the overwrought, hackneyed, trite, pan Italian décor at Micelli. It's the idealized American vision of what an old school Italian restaurant should be. In some ways, it reminded me of the Cellar restaurant at the Del Sol Hotel in Fullerton, California or Le Petit Château in North Hollywood（rip） where reality is suspended if only for an evening. Food as expected was just ok.  I feel that you come to Miceli to experience the charm of the overlaid layers of kitsch and rococo-like complexity with hanging woven basket Chianti bottles everywhere. The various dining areas are multi-leveled from up on high to the basement below.   1）Ordered the large Miceli Special Pizza. Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Meatball, Salami, Onion, Green Bellpepper, Button mushroom and good amount of molten Mozzarella cheese.   Tomato Salsa tasted mostly of oregano and garlic. Crust is thin, no real yeasty scent. Bit sweet, drier texture yet a bit gummy as one keeps chewing.  The vegetable toppings are al dente and not cooked through so they add a refreshing vegetal, watery crunchiness to contrast to all the meat, fat, carbs.   This pizza is big enough for 4 people which is a good deal. Not the best pizza in L. A., but good enough.  2  Lasagna comes out like Vesuvius, bubbling, angry red, hot. Mozzarella on top is molten. The flat, thick pasta sheets are interspersed with Ricotta and Romano cheeses and a beefy, tomato Salsa Bolognese. Aunt Angie knew how to make a good lasagna.  Ice Tea default flavour is passion fruit which is ok by me, but there should be warning for those expecting plain ice tea.  3）Tiramisù is modified at Miceli. The top is covered in what seems to be eggy, velvety Crème Anglaise like Mascarpone Mousse with two Savoiardi lady finger biscuits sticking out, scattering of powdered milk chocolate. Hidden under the mousse is the standard soft mixture of Savoiardi soaked in Espresso, Coffee liqueur, whipped Mascarpone cheese.   Pleasant variation to this classic Italian Dolce.  Food here is 3+ stars. Décor 4 stars for old school over the top charm. 4+ stars for our waiter.  4- stars overall for a fun group experience. read more

** The most fantastic immersive Italian restaurant in LA ** WOW another place that I am super stoked to share that after 5 years of living in LA, I have never been! And now, I cannot wait to return. Miceli's is soooo delicious! We went on a Friday night at 7PM and it wasn't crowded, the service was fast and fabulous and the atmosphere was lovely. The setting in this restaurant really makes you feel like you're in Italy ...never been to Italy but I feel like a lot of the restaurants would look like Miceli's which I think is the point. We walked in when Beauty and the Beast was playing on the piano - instant love. Out waitress let us know she may sing which we thought was super COOL. We didn't know how the singing worked but it turns out almost everyone that works at Miceli's has a tremendous amount of talent and can sing! What a treat! A concert and a dinner! In some places, you know they charge you extra for these things! NOT AT MICELI'S! Let's talk about the goods now. The food! Miceli's has the classic Italian menu. Think of any Italian dish and they probably have it here. I had the shrimp scampi, my wife had the spinach lasagna and he rest of our party of 5... had the good ole class lasagna. THEY LOVED IT! Been coming here over 20 years. Always a fav of ours. Come all the way from Palmdale. Tonight might be a breaking point we don't come back. Ordered the chicken cannelloni. My favorite dish on the menu. Tonight I received it and the noodles were so over cooked it was mush. I couldn't even find a noodle. We called the waiter over, who was very nice, and he took my food back to the cook and came back with my food to show me a small piece of the noodles and said the cook said it was fine. He had taken my fork and found 1 piece of noodle and expected me to eat it. I explained to him that I have ordered this every time we come there and it wasn't fine to me. Asked me if I wanted it back and said no...Asked if they can make me a new one and at this point I had a few bites of my husband's dinner, which was amazing I will say..He ordered the carbinarra. I told the waiter I didn't want it and he took it with him back to the kitchen. I shared my husband's food and we asked for the bill. When the bill came they charged me for the chicken cannelloni. I told him that I didn't like it, I sent it back, and wanted it off my bill. Mind you...The manager never came over. They were not too busy for the manager to come see us. That's just the right thing to do is to go see your guest that had an issue with the food. The waiter had to go back to the manager and get it taken off the bill. The manager was reluctant but did it. The food I ordered was not anything like it used to be. We still gave the waiter $20.00 cash tip. Because it wasn't his fault. He actually was caught in the middle and felt bad. Gave cash so he got the whole tip. He deserved it. read more
