I love Chellia! Without a doubt, she is the best stylist that I have had the opportunity to work with. My hair is curly, thick and has lots of body. It requires someone who can give it a custom cut- which has been very hard to find until now. She's been helping me grow my hair from a previous over-cut situation and it's working! Super letdown by this spot. Got my haircut for the first time here and it was by Michael. Didn't like the cut or proportions at all after about 1-2 days. Tried to mess with it for a week. Called the store to see if they can 'fix' it. Told me they only had an 11am available on a day I was out of town. Told them the day I would be back and the receptionist reply was 'We are too busy and the schedule is booked solid. We'll call you if we have any cancellations." My reply, "No problem. I will just go get it all redone by my regular stylist when he gets back in town." Totally disappointed I have to get a whole new haircut 1.5 weeks after I got one here. Michael is a great guy and great personality, but I was not impressed with my hair at all....not to mention the lack of trying to make it right. The money doesn't break my back, I just need my hair done RIGHT. It wasn't. read more

While my cut by Ayumi is good, it is not what I wanted. I wanted long layers that took weight off of my hair (it is very thick) and I needed something easy to style as I am 6 months pregnant with a 2.5 year old. I brought in examples (4) to show her the type of style I wanted. I also asked for a v cut. She suggested a U cut and I asked if we could meet in between because I really don't like U cuts. She asked how much length I wanted taken off and I said I wasn't married to the length, but keep it around 1"-1.5". I knew from the first cut there was more taken off the back than that. In fact, this was a U cut. Sigh. The style is good as in it is well done, but it is not what I asked for. I don't think she really listened or even really looked at my examples. She did take weight off which is nice, but this is still not anything like I hoped for. My husband was even surprised at how short the back is. There was at least 3" gone. Thankfully hair grows. This does bum me out because spending money on myself right now is hard and I know it will be awhile before I have time for another salon visit. I was excited to finally take time for myself and now I wish I had stayed home or gone somewhere else. I won't be back. :( read more

I went in for a haircut with Kendra and loved this place. She was great -- I have super long hair and only wanted a trim, and she didn't take off more than I asked for. I had been looking for a salon and stylist I can stick with for years. I tried out several in the Bay Area...Burlingame, Willow Glen, SJ, Saratoga...cheap and expensive...and could never find one I liked enough to go back to...they always manage to botch something whether it's the cut (and I have stick-straight hair!) or the color. You spend all of this money and leave regretting it. So, I headed to Yelp again for some advice but the problem seems to be that no matter how many positive ratings a place gets, you always get a few really bad ones so how do you know which to trust? My mom had mentioned she'd gone to Michael Anthony Salon and had a good experience but she couldn't remember her stylist's name. So, I checked out the reviews on here and the name Pareesa was dropped a few times. I went onto their website and liked her picture and what I read so I called her to make an appointment. When I walked into the salon, I was pleasantly surprised by the seemingly chill atmosphere and the nice hostess. Pareesa met me and took me to her station and discussed in great detail and for quite a while what my expectations were and how much time I wanted to spend dealing with my hair...my day-to-day lifestyle...and since I'm a SAHM of two little ones, she recommended a low-maintenance cut and color. She was so easy to talk to and patient, plus she does all her own work...in other salons, someone does your color, another the cut, another washes...she alone worked on me from start to finish! And the verdict is that I LOVE my new 'do! It's nothing drastic but it looks like a better me :) She really took the time to give me the look I wanted and she had great opinions/advices and didn't just tell me what I wanted to hear! I feel like I finally found exactly what I was looking for! I will DEFINITELY be coming back to this salon and Pareesa! read more

I recently had my hair styled and makeup done by Meena. She was outstanding! I had traveled from N.Y. to California for my nephews wedding. I found Michael Anthony Salon online and was impressed by the excellent reviews I read. Well, I definitely give it 5 stars! The salon is beautiful and clean, the staff very courteous, respectful and professional. Meena truly had one goal which was to help me look great for the day. The wedding was early morning, with festivities lasting into the late evening. My makeup and hair looked gorgeous for all of those hours! After a two year hiatus, a move to San Francisco and breaking my allegiance to Michael by driving to Danville for my hair, I am so happy to be back with my favorite, Michael! Being a regular customer of Michael for the past 10+ years at the former location Demitri's prior to my break, I was in the area and he was able to squeeze me in at the end of the day. Not only was he able to give me a fabulous edgy cut, not an easy task on longer hair, but he managed to do my color and take 5 years off! But then again, at my age who's counting? I know, I live in the city and have access to so many chic salons, why would I drive 50 miles to get my hair cut? Michael is a family man, has a fun personality and genuinely cares about his clients. Picking a hairstylist is seriously like finding your soul mate. Someone who you can trust completely and can confide in. Hedi has been dealing with my thick, long, curly hair for about 4 years now. Before Hedi, I went to get my hair Japanese straighten by many and had bad results or it doesn't even last for a week. Hedi actually takes the time and makes sure that my hair is properly treated and doesn't incur too much damages from the chemicals. I love my hair straight because it's just easy to deal with when you're on the go. Even with cutting my hair, I TRUST her enough to the point where I let her do what she wants with my hair. Plus she's the sweetest hairstylist I ever met. My hair has found its' soul mate, which is Hedi. Make sure you get on time with your appointment. I have been going to Denise Kimura Johnston for many many years. My husband and I drive 85 miles each way, just to have her do our hair. We tried others closer to us (we live in Concord) but were never satisfied. She's a genius. She knows hair and how to cut and color it. I've had many versions of highlights, low-lights, colors, cuts and have never been disappointed. My husband has an "attitude" cut which she does with a razor and scissors. She knows how to cut it so that when it grows out, it still looks good, since it's usually a couple of months before we can get to see her again. We've also brought the kids in to see her. My oldest daughter had majorly damaged hair. Denise knew how to treat it, trim and cut it, and she walked out looking like a new person. My younger son had a really poor home cut (I'm guilty) and she was able to fix it. He's starting middle school, so the new cut made him look really cool. If you want someone who knows hair, and a great with color, I recommend Denise. read more

I was introduce to Michael Anthony Salon by a very good friend of mine. Her mother and her swear by it. Once I saw my friend's balayage done by Katrina I made an appointment immediately! I am very picky about my hair and who styles it because I have baby fine blonde hair that will fry and break with someone who doesn't know what they are doing. Not only is Denise gorgeous (with her envious thick locks of red carpet-worthy hair) but she is beautiful on the inside too (whatever!).
