I don't take bad reviews lightly. I hardly ever leave them. I wanted to give these guys the opportunity to speak with us before leaving a bad review - but they aren't returning phone calls. Read all of the other negative reviews and steer clear of this dealership. First off - don't step foot on this lot without checking the E-price on their website. Went in yesterday looking to get an Impreza we were eyeing that was listed as $24k online. Test drove one which was fine, but my husband wanted to check out the WRX, which originally wasn't even in the stars at that point, so i had NO reason to check the online price. Let me skip to it. We paid $37,878 as listed on the car, when it was $3,795 cheaper online. We paid a markup well over MSRP and the exact car and every other car in other colors, by getting caught off guard since we were not looking to even buy a WRX. This wouldn't have happened if we bought the Impreza since we came in looking for that specific car and the salesman pulled it up on his PC in front of us. Also, the sales experience leaves much to be desired. You better ask A LOT of questions, such as: What in THEE hell is this $3495 tacked on as part of the quote for monthly payments?! Oh, let me explain! It's their Gold Plus 100k mile bumper to bumper extended warranty. I HAD TO ASK what the charge in the quote was even for. This is something a straight shooting salesman would ask you if you wanted included before said quote. Once i asked, he said "You should get it because of all the computers this car is comprised of." I literally had no idea until we were signing papers that Gap insurance had been included. Another charge they don't discuss with you. And believe me, you'll need it if you dont catch all of their deceptive add ons. These are things I thought about when my husband was signing the docs yesterday, but was willing to overlook since he was happy to be getting a WRX. But, after getting home and seeing our exact car for $34,082 online when we paid the onsite price of $37,878, I am disgusted. It seems like I either have really bad experiences here or really good. Thankfully, this last time I visited Subaru, I walked out extremely happy and felt well taken care of by Chris. I came in for a diagnosis and before they even got it up in the air to check it out, they could already hear and guess what was wrong with it. My husband and I walked their lot fo 20 minutes before anyone even approached us. (Seriously....they're usually like vultures, right?) When a sales MAN finally approached my husband to see if he had any questions, my husband told him he better go talk to me, as I was about 50 ft down the row of cars. He never did. In fact he went straight back to sit in his little chair in front of the building. After browsing for another 20 minutes I approached the salesman myself, who finally stopped playing with his phone and got up out of his chair. Parker in sales was a huge help before we even walked into the dealership and all the up until we switched over to finance. He was incredibly patient and comfortable to work with. I was referred to Kevin by two clients of mine. Someone had totaled my car, and I was in the market for a new vehicle. I was out of town and really needed to figure out something upon my return. Their site is up to date with current cars, and the online credit application was very easy to fill out. Due to Covid I didn't want to spend a lot of time at the dealership. I already knew the car I was looking for so it made the process that much easier. We already had financing and the car selected without me even having to be there. We had planned for me to pick up my new vehicle on Saturday, but they were picking up my old vehicle Thursday. Kevin stayed late for me that evening. I really appreciated that because I would of been car less for three days. The process was quick and pleasant. I'm really glad I chose this dealership, and mainly Kevin. I needed 60,000 mile service to my Outback. It was reasonably priced and the service was well-above standard. Keith was the Service Advisor and he was competent, professional and personable. Took my car here to have recalls fixed. I decided to ask them to do an oil change as well. I received feedback from the service advisor that there was oil leaking from my car. He said they would further inspect and let me know what was found. They claimed the front passenger side axel seal was leaking. The cost would be either $300 or if they couldn't get the "rusted" bolt off, it would cost $1600. I opted to take my car to my local service center (a Subaru expert with many years of experience in town) and well what do you know, nothing was leaking from my axel seal or anywhere else. Plus, if it were leaking there would be evidence all over my driveway. Lastly, Michael Hohl Subaru said they removed an oil pan and found the leak yet my local guy says I don't even have one. This is absurd, don't trust the service center at Michael Hohl Carson City, liars and consecending treatment means I'll never go there again. Be careful dealing with the snakes. When you enter the finance office beware of the tactics. Zurich warranties are total garbage and if you go to another dealer you will have to pay for the repair up front and then file a claim and wait to find out they will pay. Nick is a total used car salesman/weather man all rolled into one, you will NOT get what you pay for. Slithering vipers that nest in pig waste...be careful. I recently visited my family in Carson and on the drive there I noticed our new Subaru Outback was shaking when I hit the brakes. Took it in and Keith Sarao informed me the rotors were warped. He said they would need the car for a few days, which threw my plans off, but had no choice. I've been researching WRXs for a couple months. I decided to lease one, and I love driving to Carson City. I emailed them a few times with no response. I called 3 times, and left my number​. Just to be ghosted. I finally went in, and I told them exactly what I wanted, and that I knew the going rate. For a 2017 WRX Premium auto with no extras they wanted $525/month and $4600 down. That price was offensive​, so I left. The called 5-6 times offering a "perfect deal" $370/month with $4600 down... I went to another Subaru dealership, and for the EXAXT same car the first offer they gave me was.... $370/month with $2000 down. Save money, go literally anywhere else. read more

I popped a tire and called to see if these guys could replace it. The service writer said "maybe" so I brought it up. Scott the service writer was eating when I was directed to him, in fact, every time I saw him he was eating something, not even bothering to clean up or put it away but talking to me in between bites. He told me they could fix it, but then told me they might not be able to because of the warranty, he left to check the tire. He said he could but they don't have the right one so they'd "order it" well the tire magically showed up in the middle of a blizzard the very next day at opening. I brought the car back and dropped it off to get taken care of. I went to lunch and as soon as I sat down Scott called, the tire he looked at yesterday magically had a bent/unusable rim that he hadn't noticed prior. Then he was going to see if warranty covered another one. He hung up. He called back, it did but they don't have any in stock, but they might have one used or in the back, so he hung up. Then he called back, they don't have one but the claim for the tire and the rim need to go together. So I told him not to fix it. He called back, actually he has one in Reno that he's going to go get. I said great, I'll leave the car there and while you're at it can you top off the windshield washer fluid? No problem. The next day I called three times. He didn't pick up despite being transferred to him by other service writers. He finally called back and told me actually your tire pressure sensor is broken too and needs to be replaced, it'll be $120. I was so sick and tired of playing phone tag, I said no, don't put one on. I drove around with the light on for two days before ANOTHER dealership said, wait why didn't they replace this it's under warranty? The service team is a joke and the sales guys were creeps, calling and howling at my dogs while we were all in the car. read more

Don't bother trying to finance here.... had a car picked out with the sales manager yesterday, was told to come in at noon today to finalize the deal. Got a call at 9:30am that another sales rep was trying to sell it to someone else to come in immediately. Went in and sat there for 3 1/2 hours while they figured out financing told we were approved switched insurance signed the title to my old car etc... then boom, told magically we aren't approved, but they were "working on making it work". Went to go get food and came back to find the other saleman with the keys showing it to another person. shady shady shady! not cool at all, honesty goes a long way! thanks for wasting my Saturday and putting 14 hard inquiries on my credit tanking it for nothing. Also, thank you to the GM for his nonchalant generic reply stating they work hard to make sure people are happy and refer friends and zero remedy to this issue. Scheduled a maintenance service (typical oil change, lube, and tire rotation) and asked the service tech to look into a problem I had elsewhere, while doing the scheduled maintenance. I've brought my car here loads of times and I have to say that every male service tech is very condescending. There is a gal who works there and the one time I've gone thru her she has been very nice. Making a long story longer, the "problem" I mentioned along side the maintenance, happened to be a big deal, and the "bumper to bumper" coverage on our car covered it all. But, when I picked up the car, they only fixed the prob and NEVER did the maintenance I originally brought the car in for! The tech told me simply it was my fault as I never mentioned it, but as I reminded him, we had a full conversation about it. Oh well, terrible service again. One time I had an issue with a seat, and the condescending service tech brought out the "head" mechanic and they both told me the problem "has to do with the black leather on the seat... that no other leather has the issue". They would not fix it. I was not the idiot to believe it though, and researched it further with national Subaru, who agreed it was their seat prob and fixed it. Based on the multiple service visits I've had, and how these service people make you feel, I recommend you shop elsewhere. This place is not worth your hard earned money! I will never use their service center again. Not only did the sound in my car they said they took care of come back right away, but the dog in the center bit my arm twice. It didn't break skin (thank God for my jacket), so I won't pursue it with Animal Control. All I got was a "sorry" and "She's never done this before." Just called to get an estimate for my brakes. I was quoted 980.00, when I asked "for brake pads" I was told they do not do just pads. They always replace pads and rotors. I then proceeded to find out what the maintenance cost for the 160K service would be and was told at least 900.00, granted the need/suggest the cam drive belt. I responded by saying so you want over 2k when it is said and done on a car that is worth 4k? I said forget it. Look at Auto Zone and I can get 4 rotors and 8 pads retail for 176.95...... So that being said it is 800.00 for service to change breaks. I wanted to get my breaks done and a tune up on at 2008 Subaru Impreza with 160K that has been well cared for and they want me to spend half as much as the car is worth.... The service center is dishonest and unqualified to diagnose a car. My son had a noise coming from his car, I listened to it and thought it was the alternator. My son took his truck in and had it serviced and asked them to diagnose the sound. They told him it was the oil pump and fuel injectors. Took it to American Auto Center and they confirmed the Alternator. Problem fixed no more noise. Just because they are a dealership does not mean the can be trusted! Ps the guys at American Automotive Center are honest and reasonable. I give them 5 stars! read more

Everytime we go in its the same thing. Says "We guarantee the warranty will cover your issues, we will call you in an hour with a diagnostic. " 9 hours later - "we aren't gonna fix the problem. Warranty wont cover your broken part." Warranty covers the engine. Its part of the engine to make it work. The same run around about how they wont fix it through warranty. This place is horrible and the people working here don't know anything. Its always i don't know that to this guy but they don't know either talk to that guy but they wont ever talk to you face to face. It took 5 days to get our car in and missed an entire day of work for them to do absolutely nothing. do not come here!!! Reno is cheaper anyway. read more

We've been very excited to purchase with Michael Hohl Subaru for months until today because their sales staff has been really helpful and diligent as we were making our new car decisions. I called today before traveling to Carson City to be sure we had everything before trading in our Lexus. A really nice employee named Carter, maybe Parker (I wish I could remember his name! He was sweet!) answered and he educated me well enough on what else we needed and I understood. He then was just doing due diligence and transferred me to his manager in case there was something else that could be done- I did NOT ask for a manager, this was completely the employee's will. I am then "greeted" by a Nick Reinhardt who must have assumed I was escalating because he spoke to me like I was the thorn in his side. He was so mean and condescending that I was nearly in tears after the call ended. ordered my Subaru Crosstrek mid October 2021 knowing that there would be an understandable delay with everything that's going on in the world. I worked with Homi through the whole process. Homi was excellent to work with as he kept me informed from the very beginning on how long it would take to get the car and gave me periodic updates which was appreciated since I was leaving Lake Tahoe for the winter. I didn't feel any undo pressure into purchasing the car which I also appreciated. His vast knowledge about the Crosstrek was amazing and I found Homi very fair, respectful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with which isn't always the case when purchasing a new car. I also worked with Alfonso in financing Who turned a possible frustrating situation into a pleasurable one in getting the financing that I wanted and needed. I definitely would give them negative stars if I could as well. Customer Service = HORRIBLE. I bought my car here because I was looking for an AWD vehicle for mountain driving, etc. I LOVE my car, don't get me wrong, but I wish I never had to deal with the dealership again. I bought my car at 29,000 miles. At 30,000 they tried to sell me the 30,000 mile maintenance service which I knew NOTHING about. They didn't mention this $1000 service when I bought my car. Needless to say, I skipped it. They are disorganized and unfriendly. I was told when I bought my car, that I got a maintenance plan which included free oil changes for 2 years. Yet every time I took my car in, I had to constantly remind them of this, and have them reverse charges. They said that it was buried in paperwork and not in the system. On top of that, I've had to sit there for hours while things took longer than expected. Or shuttles to work they told me I had fell through, and I ended up having to call people to give me rides. Today of all days, I was late for work, because the shuttle guy didn't show up for work, so they had to recruit another worker to give us all rides to work. Awesome. This is only the start of my complaints with this place. I hate it. As soon as I get my car back from the 60,000 mile maintenance, I am never going back there. I will give my money to smaller, more reliable companies. I honestly wish you could just return the car, get money back and move on. However, not that simple sadly. read more

I am happy to see that there are other reviews citing high pressure sales tactics and flat out lies from the folks here. Let me begin with a few caveats: 1. I worked at a dealership for 3 years. I get it. Overhead, fees, yadda yadda. I get it and I am willing to pay a fair price for a vehicle. 2. Sales people are just doing their job and I have a lot of empathy for the pressure they receive to make numbers each month, or, risk loosing their bread source. Additionally, I understand that most of these guys (the less seasoned, especially) are being trained on the job-- hence the constant back and forth. Now, that being said, we've been to the dealership twice trying to purchase a car. After the first visit, we were told a fair amount for a car which we agreed to and asked to have that price quoted in writing. When refused, we walked out and agreed to come back the next week with cash in hand. When we returned to the dealership with cash (in full, BTW), we were handed the paperwork. At that point, everything looked "ok" but the smell of fish was in the air. We asked to take another look at the car and they brought us out back to a different, lesser model of the vehicle. When we said "this isn't the right car" they insisted that it was and egged us to sign. We were pretty frustrated at this point and started to walk away. That is when the sales manager said to my husband "she's getting a brand new car. Can't she just deal with it?" No. When you order a salad are you cool with it when they bring you a burger? Going in for mole removal and coming out with a new tattoo? Cool with that? No. We want the car we agreed to purchase. Of all the people to push around-- we were probably the wrong ones. What would have been loyal, no hassle customers are now aggravated, mouthy messengers. Get it together, guys. Nobody who is spending that much money deserves to be treated like a fool. Final note; there is one salesman there who should be running the place because he was kind, welcoming and made our visits tolerable. His name is Homi and he should get a promotion simply for having to deal with his coworkers. read more

My wife and I walked into this dealership with the plan on getting a 2015 Forester. We had are heart set on an Outback but knew it would be too expensive for our budge. We were greeted by a salesman and we told him we wanted to test drive a Forester. I explained how we really wanted an Outback but it was beyond your means. He assured us that he could get us in an Outback for the same price as the Forester we were looking at. We were pretty excited about the possibility of getting the car we really wanted. I reiterated to the salesman what are budget was and what we could afford to pay each month. I didn't want to waste our time test driving an Outback if it was out of our league. He again assured us that it would be no problem. After a couple of hours of test driving and going over all the features and finally deciding on the Outback we wanted, it was time for the numbers game. My wife and I were pretty excited about getting our car so you can imagine the disappointment when the finance manager came back with numbers that were double our budgeted amount! I explained that our salesman promised us that we could get an Outback at the numbers we gave him. He looked at us with a smirk and nearly chuckled to himself as if to imply my wife and I are imbiciles. He only offered half of what our trade in was worth, doubled the interest that we qualified for and, of course, made our monthly payment double. We were at the dealership for nearly five hours only to end up being laughed at and feeling disheartened and frustrated with the whole process. The next day we decided to visit Lithia Subaru in Reno. We again told the salesman what we were working with. He was honest and said up front that it might be impossible to get you into an Outback but that he would try his hardest to do so. Three hours later we drove off in our brand new 2015 Subaru Outback. We also found out that Michael Hohl Subaru increases the sales price by appx. $3,000 due to an "area markup fee". Reno does not do this. I sent Michael Hohl Subaru a letter stating my dissatisfaction with our experience at their dealership. It's been two weeks and I have yet to hear anything. I guess they really don't care. I would suggest to anyone looking to buy a Subaru, go to Lithia in Reno. It's worth the extra drive. You will save money and not be lied to! read more

I was recently reminded of the awful experience I had with this dealership and realized I never posted an update on what happened after I posted my original review. The dealership actually had the salesperson call me back after posting the review, asking me to remove my negative review. Their reasoning? The salesperson, Tyler, stated the review reflected negatively upon him because his manager did not care that I specifically called him out as being the single, pleasant part of my experience.
