Boo Boo Booooo! I'm starting to think any restaurant between Boston & Worcester is just so so... This place was recommended to us as a "good breakfast place". So we checked it out this past Saturday morning. Despite the really cool rustic decour the food was just ok. The service was mediocre at best as you sat yourself and the menus were on the table sticky with jelly. My husband wanted Eggs Benedict which is on a special part of the menu that says "Sundays Only". When I asked the waitress, "do you really only have eggs benedict on sundays?" she said "yes" and walked away... I thought they might have made an exception for good customer service. We both had corned beef hash w/ our meals and both servings tasted like it was just out of a can. I'm hoping there are better breakfast places around as this place was pretty lousy. read more

If you're an eggs benedict lover, oh my gosh, you should totally go here! I went here for breakfast and got the Irish style eggs benedict (comes with hash) and I pretty much dream about it now. Service was great, and the decor was very unique. Just make sure you and all members of your party don't mind the busts of animals hanging on the walls and staring at you as you eat. The decor was very cool. Not the usual for this part of the country which was nice. Hunters paradise. Food however was mediocre at best. Portions were huge but not flavorful and my waffle came out cold. Service was okay. Friendly but we felt very rushed. I ordered what I wanted to drink and she left not even acknowledging the other person sitting at our 2 person table, didn't even ask what he wanted to drink. On a relaxed Sunday the last thing I want is to be haggled for my order when I just sat down, only to have her return no more than a minute later. Been here a few times. Breakfast is their specialty. The waffles are massive especially with whip cream and strawberries. Portions in general are grande to the Max. Walking into this place is like walking into a Cabela's. The place is all decked out with fine specimens of taxidermy, all of which I'm told are trophies earned by the owner of this establishment himself. My dad, an avid hunter, was blown away and couldn't wait to get his hunting buddies together for breakfast here. So, be warned, if you're an animal rights activist, you may want to steer clear of this place. We had headed here to fuel up before helping my little brother move and it was a great way to start the day. Despite being surrounded by all things meat, I was trying to watch what I ate that day, so I had their veggie omelet and it was outstanding. The omelet was huge and it was completely packed with veggies. I forget at this point exactly what went into it, but I remember my eyes bugging out at the size of what was on my plate. Omelet plus home fries and toast was a great value and provided just the boost I needed to spend my Saturday lugging couches up to a second floor apartment. Overall the food is good quality and the staff works hard BUT id rather spend my time at a place with better acoustics. The staff is nice and the menu has a bit of everything to pick from yet the acoustics are HORRIBLE. Ive visited this establishment multiple times at both the old and new location; (the old diner was located across the street years ago, very small, yet got the job done.) The acoustics are horrible. On a morning during the work week the acoustics are manageable with only 12-15 guests in the dinning area yet on weekends with a packed house its hard to have a conversation with the person sitting next to you! I typically oder pancakes and bacon or sausage patties, everything tastes as it should but nothing out of the ordinary. You can get the same product at a mom and pop diner elsewhere. Overall the place gets the job done but for a price, a few extra bucks compared to other establishments and the price of your eardrums. read more

Not enough can be said about Mike's, The only thing I can say is that on the weekends try to be early or late as the rush starts at 10 AM and ends around 1:30 PM and expect a line with sometimes a 15-30 minute wait during the rush. I have been going for breakfast here for years...it's my go-to breakfast place in the area. It's always filled and busy on the weekends, too...which is a testament to it's success. The food has always been solid! They have an awesome eggs Benedict too...which can actually be messed up. They make their own hash as well, which is very good! The building itself is very fun...it looks like a hunting lodge on the inside, and very big and spacious, with high ceilings as well, which makes it feel even bigger. The waitstaff are pretty good at what they do. I've seen some of the same faces for years, which is also a testament to how well the business retains it's workers. This joint was recommended by the Chocksett Inn. It is noisy, jammed with diners, great hunting motif. The service is dispassionate because they are so busy. The food is prepared in an open kitchen. They are quick and efficient. I had a simple breakfast that was hot and well presented. The bacon was tough and chewy. If you want a quick hot country breakfast, come here. If you are thinking about getting a good breakfast go somewhere else. My wife and I have given them 3 tries now and have yet to get a good breakfast there. Omelets are filled with meat and veggies which would normally make me happy but there is so little egg it seems like it is paper thin. Bacon is inconsistent, overcooked or undercooked. Watered down coffee. We had high hopes for this place as it is right near our house but we will not be going back. We had lunch here on a Friday in January, 2012. It was my wife and I, with a toddler. There was a lunch crowd, but we quickly found a table. (It is "seat yourself.") The waitress seemed rushed, but smiled. It took longer to place our order than I would have liked. Our drinks were never refilled, but we did not ask. My wife had a sandwich and I tried the fish and chips: both were good, but not exceptional.
