The mussels were so tiny that they appeared shriveled like prunes. They had no color and lacked the expected plumpness. This is literally my favorite restaurant nearby my house. I always suggest Micheal's for a date night or girls' night out. It is pretty expensive, but I think it's worth every cent. A friend and I went for the first time and we were shocked by how big this place was inside, which gave us the option to sit at a second bar. We enjoyed the setting and the wings were delicious. Went here for my first "legal" drink and was pleasantly surprised. The inside reminded me of an upscale TGI but the food blew me away. A strawberry margarita that was pretty good, my only complaint was that they used real strawberries so it was a little chunky and slightly difficult to drink. I got the Chicken Marsala which was creamy and delicious, I wanted to yell out in delight with every bite. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I've actually been day dreaming about this dish since I've had it. The service was also very good. We were seated almost immediately and our waiter was funny, patient and attentive. I would definitely recommend to a friend/ eat here again. Michaels has a decent atmosphere although the clientele is mostly over 50. ] got oysters which were slightly spoiled and a good beer. The spoiled oysters and the next bit get them only one star. The oysters literally stank, plus i'm a Maryland native and know the difference. The real problem was that when we told the manager he was really arrogant. He told us he'd be right back and never came back to the table. Between the bad oysters and the bad service we won't be back. read more

Upon arriving the dining room was too cold, they claimed they turned it down which lasted about a minute then the cold air started blasting again. Next, I order a Sprite, I got a flat drink which tasted horrible, probably the worst thing I ever tasted. I asked for another in case something went wrong. The waitress said "That's how we make our sprite here." Do yourself a favor and never order a sprite here. So I order a root beer instead but she says they only have it by the bottle? What bar and grill doesn't have draft root beer? Most if not all bars offer it and usually refills are free but here you are charged by the bottle. Next I order the short rib. For such an expensive meal it was a few chunks of meat and 90 percent bone. Delicious yes but the serving size could have been bigger. Came with a spoonful of mashed potatoes and a big ear of corn and spicy onion straws. I asked for corn without the cob but the waitress refused to put in the request, all they had to do was saw it off whats the big deal? We are paying a lot for the meal so customer service should be kept in mind. They were also out of the fish dish that was ordered. Overall even though the food tasted nice it wasn't anything I hadn't tasted before, and the customer service could have been way better.The menu wasn't anything special either. read more

Had friends in town that were doing shows at the Fairgrounds across the street and they always meet here afterwards - but it was my first time here. It was an enjoyable evening, with just minor mishaps. We were told the IPA on special was 2.50, but were charged 4.00. Then they ran out of them and offered to give us something else for the same price, but when the bill arrived, it was priced wrong. They were out of a lot of the speciality drinks, but that wasn't a big deal. Our server was nice, but seemed overrun and a bit frenzied. Everyone enjoyed all of their meals, which ranged from chicken dishes to the seafood platters. It seemed a bit overpriced, but I only ordered an appetizer and enjoyed it. It's a good place - but felt more like a chain atmosphere in a way to me and not necessarily my pick for places to go, but in the end, the party of 7 we had left satisfied. It was a weekend, so the bar was packed and appeared to be a fun little place to catch drinks and watch the game (lots of TV and packed bar). read more

I came here for an early Mother's Day Dinner and the service was good, and the food was delicious. They also have daily specials on the menu and the prices seem reasonable. I recommend this restaurant for special occasions like birthdays, graduations, anniversaries etc. read more

I found my way back to Michael's after about a year or so. They added a new bar section which looked nice. If you haven't been here this is a place to unwind, bring your family, go on a date, happy hour, or what ever, it's a good atmosphere and the menu is diverse. The waiters are hit or miss. I wasn't so lucky to have a nice guy but he was accurate so what the heck. I started with the half pound jumbo shrimp hold the onions. They were all that! I then ordered the Scallops as my entree. Big mistake. No taste drenched in sauce... The broccolini lacked flavor as well. The best part of meal was the baked potato. It was soooooo good. I swapped the scallops out for a small New York strip. Nothing to write home about. I would still return because I've had more good food here than bad. read more

My experience here was terrific. Food - A+ I had the blackened tuna with cucumber/jalapeno slaw and rice. Simply fantastic. Blackened perfectly. Big piece of tuna. My associate had a crab cake that was perfect. Drinks: A Good selection of craft/draft beer. Service: A+ Our server was great. He made recommendations, double checked on us often, and didn't forget a thing. We sat in the bar area on a Tuesday night. The place was packed like fudge. Loud in the bar area, which didn't bother us but if you were looking for a quiet dinner, you wouldn't want to sit in the bar area. Had some recent bad experiences here. They just can't seem to get it right. Dinner was not good, but went for brunch and it was excellent. I would rate higher if the customer service were better. Attention to detail is not their forte. I don't think I would return because of all the oversights. Update: Tried Michael's again for brunch today. Found that if you sit in the bar area, service is great and attentive. Ran into some friends who were seated in the main dining area near the door and was not shocked to see on Facebook that they had a bad experience. We have returned twice now after two bad experiences and have given two extra stars because they have definitely improved. Although the kitchen is under renovation, and the menu choices are limited, we had a delicious brunch that I would recommend to anyone. Just sit in the bar area ;) read more

Michael's is a classic, North of Baltimore fixture. I've been here a few times over the years and usually enjoyed it. You get the feeling they have been doing things the same way for a long time, and generally killing it from a business perspective. But it is beginning to feel a bit stale and over-priced to me. For apps we tried the fried green tomato stack (WAY overpriced at $14, paltry amount of lump crab) and the calamari (ok, but a bit greasy). I had the double crab cake entree. The crabcakes were very good, as usual. I got one broiled, one fried. I preferred the fried, as the texture of the meat was better, and the temperature was better (warm to hot, unlike the broiled one, which was served room temp) My sweet potato fries were burnt. The cole slaw was good. Overall, it was a decent meal, though for the price, I'd like to see better execution and a more exciting menu. Service was good. read more

I've been coming here for years now and have had ok experiences most of the time but tonight i felt completely taken advantage of for multiple reasons. First off you could tell easily tell our server was new and had no help especially when our food was brought out, each of my family's dishes had something wrong with it like the wrong type of fries or no pickles on a sandwich but came out with pickles instead. They were able to bring us new fries and a bun but did not comp us on the price for either. Then in the very beginning they told us the price for the double crab cake platter was 38 dollars but when we looked at the check we were surprised to have seen it actually have been 52. Needless to say we felt taken advantage of, did not tip very well, and will not be going back for quite some time. read more

Fantastic upgrades have been made to the bar & patio areas as well as the menu! I've been to Michaels on a few occasions over the past three years, before & after renovations. While in the Patio area & outdoor bar, you forget you are right off of York Rd. Weekend brunch menu was transformed and is now my husband & I's fav brunch spot to share with out of town guests. Be prepared, with so many great options, it'll take awhile to decide! Thankfully they kept bottomless mimosas too! read more

This place was packed on a Friday afternoon in December! I drove around for almost 10 minutes looking for a parking spot. Never did find one, so I had to settle on valet. At least once I got inside the food was great. We were there for a work lunch, of 8 of us. Great service and very efficient. The calamari was probably some of the best I have ever had and side dipping sauce is awesome. For lunch, I tried the seafood club with sweet potato fries. I really liked both of them. I didn't even bother with with the bread on the sandwich but loved the lump crab & shrimp salad. Everyone else at the table really enjoyed their dishes - turkey burger, regular burger, crab cakes, & chicken Chesapeake. Some opted for dessert, I was disappointed they ran out of the vanilla bean creme brulee :-( Some of the co-workers moved to the bar for some afternoon drinks. Felt the wine was a little expensive ($10 for a so-so glass of Sauvignon Blanc). Also the bartender was a little overwhelmed when we asked him to split the check between two cards. He ended up re-running separate checks and complaining about how he asked us early on how we wanted it. Sorry, didn't realize using 2 cards for 3 of us would be a big deal?!?! We would return for sure, but would probably skip the bar. read more

Only three stars?! That shocks me, because my experience here was great. We were in town for Preakness week, and the place was hopping. Everyone I came with had crab cakes and really enjoyed them. I'm not much of a seafood guy, so I had the ribeye, but that was a very, VERY good steak. The place can get a little noisy, especially by the bar, and service, while not bad, was a little strange. They had two waitresses tending to us instead of one, although both were very nice and hospitable. Still, we had a great time here, and chances are we'll be back when we fly east again next year. read more

Michaels café in Timonium has long been one of my favorite restaurants since I was a kid I can remember coming here for crabcakes and steaks for most of my childhood. Especially loved coming here for my birthdays and I remember them giving me a slice of cheesecake on the house with a candle in it. The renovations have only made the police better in the of consistently been reliable for a wonderful meal. They must have some serious training for their waiters and waitresses because they're always the most attentive and polite and you don't even notice that they are there because they are doing their job so well. read more

Michael's Cafe is like a neighborhood bar and grill, kicked upscale.. The food is good but it is pricey. I find you usually get what you pay for. Menu includes steaks, seafood and raw bar, and sandwiches. They have several bars, one outside, and a large dining area. Since the place is large and the menu has good variety, it is a good spot to bring a group. On my recent visit, I ordered the crab soup to start. At $7 a bowl it is one of the more expensive crab soups around, but they add large fresh chunks of crab meat to the bowl which is a nice touch and it is delicious. I got the seafood club as my meal: a crabcake, shrimp salad, topped with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. The crabcake was fine, the shrimp salad was good, but honestly the housemade chips stole the show. They tasted like sour cream and onion with just the right amount of seasoning, they were tough to put down. Full bar, extensive beer and wine selections; plenty of choices to suit most anyone's taste, but not many rare ones. Happy hour and daily specials. Music on the weekends. read more

First off, the food was delicious. I really enjoyed the food. I had the coconut shrimp appetizer and the crabcake platter. Both were really good. The service was spotty. It seems that the bartender was more interested in watching the ESPYs than waiting on his customers. It also seems that the restaurant is cutting corners. For instance, the menu said that shrimp came with 15 pieces, while I got 12. Additionally, the "5 oz." crabcake was smaller that the 4 oz. one I had at the Green Turtle at the airport. I've eatten here many times, mostly for Sunday brunch. I'm not into crab, but everyone says their crab cakes are delicious. The wait staff is wonderful. One night I had a part of 14. We were seated in a back room which was great. Our waiter took each persons order without writing it down, and everything was delivered perfectly and deliciously! As an update to my previous review: Went to Michael's tonight. My wife and I shared a Caesar Salad which was large enough for two and tasty. We had the crab cakes which are always very good and a great value for the price. There are better crab cakes locally (Linwoods, Center Club) but these were very good and priced reasonably at $32 for two with side dishes. My wife had the fruit salad and baked potato as sides and both were fine. I had excellent beets and sweet potato fries which they were kind enough to do without salt. The young waiter was very pleasant and helpful but clearly assigned to too many tables - had to ask for water, check took 10 minutes, etc. The kitchen similarly was overworked - salad took 25 minutes and then the food came out before the salad was done. This was certainly a better experience than before. This is a very nice restaurant in the neighborhood restaurant category. It's not a foodie place and the service doesn't compare to the best run places in this part of town - Bluestone, Linwoods, etc. However at $82 bucks before tip for a very tasty meal I'll be back a few times per year. A great place for food and drinks! I've been to Michaels twice so far and both times I've been blown away by the quality of the food and beverages. I like to consider myself a bit of a crab cake connoisseur and I'd put the one at Michaels up there with the best. In addition they have great craft cocktails that really make other nearby bars look like amateur hour by comparison. Their menu seems to change seasonally so there's always something new for you to check out. The staff also are excellent, very attentive and nice. Happy to chat and happy to leave you alone, whatever your mood might be. IF you haven't I really suggest giving Michaels a try. read more

This is one of my favorite spots in Timonium! The food is always absolutely amazing (Try the steak & cake....it's worth $42 trust me!) the crowd there is awesome and my favorite is the outside patio. New menu is out of this world! Today I had the soup du jour which was a rib and bean soup to die for... so flavorful! I had seen a photo of the lobster roll, a new standard on the menu, which drew me in today. It did not disappoint. So much lobster meat and I didn't even need to add the extra drawn butter because it was sautéed in butter and plenty for me. Great meal! Can't wait to try some more off the new menu. Mickey, bartender, always a pleasure and very attentive. Jose works so hard as barback and I love to see his smiling face! Missing Saroj today behind the bar! We had a party of 12, many from out of town for a wedding, that went for brunch on Sunday, October 11th. We made reservations for 2 tables of 6 due to COVID regulations. We sat in the bar area and were seated at a table of 6, a four top of 4 and a 4 top of 2 people so right from the beginning that was not a great thing. The service was terrible, the wrong sides were on the plates and the food was terrible. Also we spent $358.00 without tip for terrible service and terrible food. I will never go there again. The last time I went it was terrible also. I am just not sure how this restaurant stays in business. It doesn't ever deserve 1 star. read more

Went to Michael's for a birthday brunch for 4 people. The outdoor seating was perfect. Our waitress was an absolute gem and took care of our every need. We all agreed the food was delicious and the bottomless mimosas kept flowing. Our waitress overheard us talking and brought out a slice of cheesecake for the birthday boy. So, we were at one of our favorite places today for a late lunch. Quite a few new menu items so we decided to try three of them. Here's the result: Bluefin Tuna Tartar: perfect tuna app and the mint goes amazingly well. Only suggestion is that the marinade is a bit strong and over shadows the tuna flavor. $17 Grilled Lamb Chops: Cooked to order and came out perfect. Grilled squash and garlic tahini go well together. Only recommendation is again, the chermoula over powers the lamb. $16.50 Lastly, we tried the Maine Lobster Roll. The lobster was cooked perfectly, but the roll was soggy and it was missing the traditional celery (crunch), spring onion and lemon. Also over priced in our opinion at $25. The manager and bus boy immediately assisted the situation and actually DROVE the customer home themselves!! The food was fabulous, the drinks were great and the customer service was top notch. This was THE most amazing experience I have had in fine dining. We had the Salmon dinner and prime rib appetizer. The explosion of taste was beyond anything I have experienced. Our waitress Emma was the best! She seemed to anticipate our needs and tastes and offered suggestions as if she knew us personally! I was able to meet the chef Josh and complimented him on his amazing artistry that combined tastes so well. General manager Josh visited our table to make sure we were happy and being taking care of well. He was so personable and made us feel that warm welcome you always hope for. read more
