Made a last minute reservation and was told we would be outside on the terrace, which was fine. When we arrived, there was an open six top and a single woman finishing up her meal. We checked in and were told that they were getting the table ready. We watched as the waitress asked the single woman to vacate the table, because we were waiting! So much for relaxed dining, they ask you to leave! We had a very nice informative waitress. I asked for the shrimp and grits. Listed for $26. The dish arrived and the shrimp was not cleaned! I'm sorry but spending $26. On an entree and to be served with the poop tract still intact was disgusting. I sent it back and said I don't want it anymore. The waitress came back and said the chef is cleaning the shrimp now. Ok, so now you are offering me shrimp that is cooked and has his hands all over it and you are going to serve me that. I don't think so. I told her no. I am now turned off by everything. Never once did a manager or hostess come to the table to try to make things better. No customer service at all. So no I don't recommend this place. Not relaxed at all. Do you serve the shrimp cocktail with the poop tract intact? I don't think so. Skip this place and go somewhere you can relax and eat dinner and not be asked to vacate the table after you have spent good money there. read more

If you want to be insulted by the chef owner for making a simple substitution on a "special entree" definitely go to Michy's. We politely asked to omit the side of basmati rice on the halibut special and were told that is not possible. After our server checked with the chef, I ordered the halibut without rice and said I would pay the $5.75 extra for root vegetables. We were SHOCKED when the chef owner came to our table, slapped my back and told us if we don't eat rice, then you can order another entree. UNBELIEVABLE. UNACCEPTABLE to speak to paying customers like this. We will never eat at Michy's again. read more

Food is pretty good. But their attitude about turning tables is just wrong. We had dinner three times and each time while we were having dessert and asked for a second coffee and were told we couldn't because they needed the table and then started clearing the table while we were still sitting there, and we were not hanging around, we had finished dessert less than two minutes before. This is the kind of restaurant whose existence is jealously guarded by its regulars. It's so good, you can't believe your good fortune at having discovered it. But it is so small, you fear sharing your jubilation with very many people for fear the won't be any reservations available the next time you want to go. We have dined here twice now - both experiences have been superb, from the gracious welcome to the unobtrusive and competent service, and, of course, the standout menu. The food is scrupcious and there is something for everyone. Portions border on huge, so it is wise to plan on some sharing of you want to sample a number of courses. We loved the calamari, the firecracker shrimp is superb, and the Caesar salad and poached pear salads were fresh and fabulous. Entrees range from pasta to savory long braised short ribs. Food was great but I wouldn't call it "relaxed". Everything felt rushed. We ended up getting dessert to go just so we could eat at home at a slower pace. Waitress messed up our order (mistook an appetizer order as entree order) and then tried to correct me, but to their credit someone came out later and apologized and brought both entrees (having cooked a new one for my husband so they'd both be fresh). My husband and I have just returned from a dinner date with another couple at Michy's near Rehoboth. We had attempted to find a table at Michy's on prior occasions, as we had great word-of-mouth recommendations, but we were never able to do so. We live locally and were pleased that we were able to secure a reservation for 6:30 pm this evening to have dinner with old friends. Our friends arrived prior to 6:30, and my husband and I arrived at 6:31 (I know that because I looked at my watch as I walked in the door). We ordered drinks, and while it took longer than expected for the drinks to arrive, we didn't mind, since we were enjoying the time spent visiting. When the drinks finally arrived, the waiter asked us if we were ready to order. I responded that we would like to enjoy our drinks for a few minutes. This seemed to be okay with him. Actually, it wasn't long before he returned and we placed our order. I must admit that the food was delicious. We had a pleasant time eating and visiting. Once we finished and the dishes were cleared, the waiter returned and asked if we needed separate checks. We responded that we would split the check equally. After the waiter departed, one of our party suggested that it might be nice to order coffee or at least see a dessert menu. When the waiter returned, two of us ordered coffee, and the waiter brought a dessert menu. We eventually decided to not order dessert, but we still enjoyed talking as were were drinking the coffee. Then, things went downhill quickly. A woman, who didn't identify herself, but we assume was the owner or the manager, came up to us at about 8:15 pm and curtly stated that we needed to leave, because the table was needed. Although somewhat surprised, we complied and left in a hurry. As we stood outside, we discussed what had just occurred, and commented that we had never had that happen to us before. My husband went back inside and approached the owner/manager, who was wiping off our table. He told her that we were offended that we were basically kicked out of the restaurant. She responded that we had been half an hour late for our reservation and they now needed the table. He pointed out that she was mistaken and we had not been late. He also asked why we were asked to leave, when we had been there for less than 2 hours, and there didn't seem to be anyone waiting (we were seated by the front door and hostess stand and would have seen a group of 4 gathering). She responded that they allow patrons one hour and 45 minutes to eat their dinners. I am still wondering what happened. We all ordered drinks. We ordered several appetizers. We all ordered dinner. We ordered coffee. We really enjoyed the dinner, and were not camping out! And then, Michy's decided that it was time for us to leave, an hour and 45 minutes after we were seated. Everything I've read allots 2 hours for a table of 4 to turn over. Given as much as we ordered, that doesn't seem unreasonable. I recognize that an early reservation meant that the table would be used again, but this could have been handled much more diplomatically. It's not fair to hold us to unspoken rules. This has never happened to us in the many years that we have frequented the many fine restaurants in the Rehoboth area. In fact, I can never remember being told that I needed to leave a restaurant. As a further slap in the face, we noticed that there was a larger group at an adjoining table who were celebrating a birthday. They had been already been seated when we arrived and were still there as we departed. There was no sign that they were being asked to leave. Despite the good food, we will not be returning to Michy's "Relaxed" Dining. It was not relaxed for us! It's a shame that the attitude of the management at the end of a meal left us all with such a bad taste in our mouths. read more

I've eaten at Michy's three times, including last night. I normally eat vegan and usually have difficulty getting anything other than pasta or a salad. At Michy's, I can start with a wonderful olive plate and continue on to a vegetarian plate. The food is very tasty and has a nice spiciness, sometimes missing in vegan fare. This was a wonderful surprise. Tucked into a strip mall, I didn't expect what we got. The roasted beet salad had the perfect amount of mint, goat cheese, pistachio and a mild but tangy dressing. The firecracker shrimp was a beautiful display and genuinely crunchy and delicious. The rigatoni bolognese was divine!!!!! A basil-whipped ricotta and San Marzano tomatoes. A tender meat sauce. We visited here for the first time last night.There were four of us. We are locals and heard from a friend it was very good. She was right! The food was delicious, we had appetizers, entree's, drinks, and dessert. There wasn't one negative we could say. Our server was pleasant and did everything right!! Sadly, the night was spoiled. After settling up our tab which was well over $200.00, a manager type female came over to our table. (One of us still had a bit of her Irish coffee left). Anyway, she said you need to leave now, we are expecting another party at this table for a 7:30 p.m. reservation. We were all shocked at that... So rude! There would have been a nicer way to handle this situation. One time this happened to us at our former hometown. They came to us and told us nicely that they had a reservation coming in. My friend and I met for dinner last week and sat at the bar. The atmosphere is warm and the place is very well done inside. The bartender was extremely friendly and attentive throughout our visit. We had clams and calamari for apps and they were outstanding! The portion on the calamari was huge. We both had entrees that were equally delicious. I ordered the Shrimp coconut curry over angel hair pasta unfortunately it was a little too spicy for me and I had to send it back which they had no problem with and I ended up with the shrimp and grits which was very good. We heard so many good things about Michy's lately so we decided to venture out of Rehoboth and try it. The firecracker shrimp app was good the calamari ok and then it was down hill from there. All four of us rated our meals about a 5 out of 10. My salmon looked like it was pieced together from canned salmon, the short ribs were nothing more than a bland pot roast, and the chicken Milanese was so-so. Oh well, $300 later and a disappointing experience for the four of us was all we took away. Sorry Michy's... Nice enough people but you need to improve your food quality and flavor. read more

Have been a few times mostly for HH and once for dinner. I like sitting at the bar with Brandy and the guys. The happy hour specials include drinks now and there are some nice martinis. I love the sirloin burger, firecracker shrimp, the crab cake on salad is very good. The calamari is just ok. The sauce is too heavy.
